Natural environment and human activities in King George Island, South Shetland Islands in West Antarctica have been briefly reviewed, It is sure that human being can live a normal life in the Island, although the insufficiency in space and water resources might be a hampering factor to further human activities in the Island. It seems necessary to protect natural environment against the recent frequent visit of human beings to the Island.

Seventy-five years have passed since the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen put the first human footprint on the South Pole in his South Pole Expedition in 1911. Natural environment, petroleum, and mineral resources of Antarctica are briefly reviewed. No petroleum or mineral deposits with economic value are discovered yet in Antarctica. However, it is thought that petroleum (and probably including minerals of Dufek stratiform gabbros) would be most promising in several decades. International stewardship of Antarctica associated with systematic investigations strengthened by modern techniques and facilities will show further possibility in other minerals.

한국(韓國)잔디(Zoysia japonica STEUD)의 경우 녹색기간(綠色期間)이 짧기 때문에 잔디로 피복(被覆)된 각종(各種) 운동경기장(運動競技場)과 공원(公園)등에서 녹색기간(綠色期間)을 연장하도록 보완(補完)할 수 있는 적절한 방법(方法)을 구명(究明)하기 위하여 1985년(年)3월(月)10일(日)부터 11월(月)30일(日)까지 서울대학교(大學校) 구내(構內)의 잔디초지(草地)에서 실험(實驗)을 수행(遂行)하였던바 주요(主要) 결과(結果)는

The passive acoustic system only has generally used in fish detection. But the passive acoustic system has not been tried in fishing since Freytag has proposed a possibilities of the passive detection of fishes in 1963. This paper describes the .feasible aspects of fish detection by listening of the sound they make. The passive acoustic system accompanied the active acoustic system may expand the range of detection and compensate for lack of capabilities each other, but there are some difficulties in noise rejection because the fre9uency range of ship noises covers the whole range vf biological sounds. The attempt to collect useful informations from underwater would be greatly contributed in fisheries.

음향집어에 관한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 정치망내의 수중환경소음과 방성음의 분포 및 집어효과를 실험, 분석하였고, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 수중환경 소음 및 방성음의 중심주파수대는 각각 150Hz~400Hz, 400Hz~1000Hz이고, 음압준위는 원통, 헛통, 장등, 비탈그물의 순으로 , 비탈그물, 원통, 헛통, 장등의 순으로 각각 높았다. 양망작업중의 수중소음은 양망개시후 시간의 경과에 따라 음압준위가 높아지나 양망의 마무리 단계에서는 오히려 낮아졌다. 2. 본 실험에서 제작한 방성장치로서 정치망어포부내에 방성한 결과, 초기에는 어군이 방성기주변으로 모여드는 반응을 나타내었으나, 약 30분이 경과하면서 이러한 반응은 약화되었다. 그리고 방성시간과 휴지시간의 간격보다는 방성음압에 군락이 더 민감하였다. 3. 일본에서 제작된 음향집어기(Dainy 0-8)로 해상에서 방성시험을 하여 본 결과, 대체로 방성개시후 약 20분에 어군이 모여들고 방성을 멈추면 곧 흩어졌다. 유집된 어군은 선박교통소음의 환경을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 정치망입구 근처의 장등에 음향집어기를 설치하여 방성하였을 경우와 방성하지 않았을 경우에 대한 어획량이 방성하지 않았을 때에 비하여 약 3~5배 많은 것으로 나타났다.

수도(水稻) 생육초기(生育初期)에 규산(珪酸)을 처리(處理)할 때 유묘(幼苗)의 엽선단(葉先端)으로부터 배출(排出)되는 일액량(溢液量)과 일액(溢液)을 통(通)해 어느 정도((程度) 규산(珪酸)이 외부(外部)로 배출(排出)되며, 일액중(溢液中)의 규산(珪酸)과 엽소(葉燒)와의 관계(關係)를 구명(究明)하고저 다수계(多收系) 품종(品種) 삼강벼와 일반계품종(一般系品種) 낙동벼를 공시(供試)하여, 온도범위(溫度範圍)가 인 실내(室內) 자연광하(自然光下)에서 인 vinyl 상자(箱子)로 밀폐(密閉)하여, 수경(水耕) 재배(栽培)한 수도(水稻) 유묘(幼苗)에서 채취(採取)한 일액중(溢液中)의 규산(珪酸)을 분절(分折) 조사(調査)하여던 바 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 규산(珪酸) 처리(處理) 농도(濃度)가 200ppm까지 증가(增加)할수록 일액량(溢液量)은 증가(增加)하였으며, 규산(珪酸) 처리(處理) 농도(濃度)가 200ppm 일때 일액량(溢液量)은 낙동벼 4.30mg/plant, 삼강벼 4.34mg/plant이었으며, 250ppm이상(以上)에서는 일액량(溢液量)이 감소(減少)하였다. 2. 규산(珪酸) 처리(處理) 농도(濃度)가 높을수록 일액량(溢液量) 함유(含有)되어 있는 규산(珪酸)의 농도(濃度)는 증가(增加)하였으며, 일액중(溢液中) 규산(珪酸)의 농도(濃度) 대(對) 규산(珪酸) 처리(處理) 농도(濃度) 비(比)는 100ppm 이상(以上)에서는 감소(減少)하였다. 3. 처리(處理)된 규산(珪酸)은 단시간(短時間)에 수도근(水稻根)으로 흡수(吸收)되어 일액(溢液)을 통(通)해 배출(排出)되며 처리(處理) 후(後) 12시간(時間)에 배출(排出)된 일액(溢液)에 규산(珪酸)의 함량(含量)이 가장 많았으며, 규산(珪酸) 처리(處理) 300ppm에서의 일액중(溢液中) 규산(珪酸)의 농도(濃度)는 낙동벼 172.6ppm/cc, 삼강벼 199.8ppm/cc이었다. 4. 일액중(溢液中)에 함유(含有)되어 있는 규산(珪酸)의 농도(濃度)와 엽소(葉燒)의 정도(程度)는 정(正)의 상관(相關)(낙동벼 , 삼강벼 )이 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to find the effect of dietary polyunsaturated fat on of vitamin levels E, total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol in serum of Spraque-Dawley male rats. Experimental rats were fed for 4 weeks with corn oil, perilla oil, lard at a level of 10% and 20% respectively. The results obtained are as follows; 1. Body weight gains were similar to all groups and food intake was significantly lower in all experimental diet groups than control diet group, especially 20% corn oil diet group was the lowest among the experimental diet groups. 2. Vitamin E levels in serum were significantly lower in 20% corn oil and 10%, 20% perilla oil diets groups than control diet group. 3. Serum total cholesterol levels were significantly higher in 20% perilla oil diet group which was significantly lower in vitamin E level than control diet group, and serum total cholesterol levels of 10%, 20% lard diets groups were significantly higher than control diet group. 4. Serum HDL-cholesterol levels were significantly lower in 20% perilla oil diet group which was significantly lower in vitamin E level than control diet group, and serum HDL-cholesterol levels of 10%, 20% lard diets groups also were significantly lower than control diet group.

The characteristics of tidal exchange in Masan Bay were studied on the basis of salinity observations and current measurements in the summer of 1985. The exchange ratio of the sea water was calculated using three different formulas. The tidal exchange rate was estimated to be smaller than that of another bays in the southern coast of Korea. The tidal exchange ratios in Masan Bay at spring tide were deduced to be 2.4-11.7%. While those at neap tide were 2.0-9.1%. Though tidal range of neap tide is smaller than that of spring tide. the tidal exchange ratio in the bay can be increased in case of highly stratified vertical structure.

This study was conducted to research on the nutritional status of vegetarian boys high school students, to keep abreast with the international trend of stressing the vegetarian diet, thereby analyzing the degree of the influence of their dietary habit on their growth. The object of the study were 62boys high school students who are lacto-ovo vegetarians, and the author adopted three popular research methods. questionaire physical test and blood test Though vegetarian diet is helpful for the prevention of coronary and heart diesedse of the adults, but it is not enough for the students who are needed lot of protein and calorie.
