영월탄전 요봉계곡에 분포하는 석탄기 석회암에서 소형 방추충의 일종인 SCHUBERTELLIDAE가 발견된다. 이 곳에서 기재된 SCHUBERTELLIDAE는 2속 6종으로 Schubertella gracilis znensis, S. lata elliptica, S. obscura, Fusiella praecusor, F. praecusor paraventricosa, F. praelancetiformis이다. 이 방추충은 중국과 쏘련에서 기재된 것과 일치하며, 벽구조의 변화없이 모스코비아계 하부로부터 상부까지 산출된다.

The earthquake source parameters of Daegu and Incheon Earthquakes occurred on July, 1985 are redetermined and compared with those reported by Central Meteorological Office of Korea(CMO). Instead of the travel time table used in CMO, the seismic velocity structure calculated from the explosion seismic records of the southern part of Korea is adopted in determining source parameters, P-wave and S-P wave arrival times obtained from seismograms recorded in the networks of KIER and JMA including CMO are used. The discrepancies of determined epicenter and focal depth between CMO and the present work appear to be 6∼8 ㎞ and about 10 ㎞, respectively. In conclusion, the potential error included in epicenter of the Korean instrumental earthquake data is supposed to be about 10 km for the earthquakes(M$gt;3) occurred within the CMO network. However, the error will probably be more than 10 ㎞ for smaller earthquakes or earthquakes of the outside of the network.

An evaporation disk model is proposed_to figure out shapes of molecular disks with density distributions of ρ_d∝r^(-n)(n$gt;1.8) using the energy and pressure equilibrium conditions as well as to explain the collimation mechanism of optical and radio jets with an openning angle of about 10 inside bipolar molecular outflows. Numerical hydrodynamic calculation of the jet inside shows that the jet velocity increases with a dependence on z^(1-5) and the Mach number of the jet converges to √3 . Mechanical energy of the jet heats the jet material, increasing the jet temperature with a distance. Calculated Ha flux in shock condition and radio continuum intensity at 5GHz are surely comparable to the observed ones. These results strongly support the evaporation disk model in collimating jet.

Dynamical conditions for the fronts around the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass, were investigated by means of the oceanographical data and simple numerical experiment. The coastal front developed along the coast inside the Yellow Sea and distinguished the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass from the coastal water is attributed to the predominant tidal mixing near the coast. On the other hand the southern part of the front of the cold water mass would be explained a a part of the extention of a western boundary current which flows into the Cheju Channel.

The general aspects of the selection of science subjects for the enterance examination of college and the factors affecting on tendency of the selection were investigated by using the data of registration records from a preparatory school for examinees. Major findings of this study are as follows. Firstly, most of the students choose biology and the rest of them chemistry, earth science and physics in order. Secondly, the difference of the tendency of selection of subjects for male and female students are not found. Thirdly, the correlation between the score of the national preliminary enterance examination for college and that of the trial examination in preparatory school is neglibibly small.

Seventy-five years have passed since the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen put the first human footprint on the South Pole in his South Pole Expedition in 1911. Natural environment, petroleum, and mineral resources of Antarctica are briefly reviewed. No petroleum or mineral deposits with economic value are discovered yet in Antarctica. However, it is thought that petroleum (and probably including minerals of Dufek stratiform gabbros) would be most promising in several decades. International stewardship of Antarctica associated with systematic investigations strengthened by modern techniques and facilities will show further possibility in other minerals.
