Vertical distribution of interstitial Cu^(++) contents of bottom sediments, upward benthic flux and oxidation zone flux are measured from the sediments at a site of Gongjichon area, Lake Uiam. Interstitial Cu^(++) contents show a pronounced maximum at water-sediment interface, and linear decrease to the depth of 9 cm at which anoxic sediments begin to occur, which cause an upward benthic flux and oxidation zone flux of interstitial Cu^(++). The depths of minimum interstitial Cu^(++) content show those of maximum sediment Cu^(++) content from which we presume the vertical flux and inter-species exchange of elements in the sediment layer. In oxic zone, interstitial Cu^(++) contents correlate very well with total organic matters, and total organic matters with mean particle size. These facts suggest that the amount of interstitial Cu^(++) contents are mainly controlled by the amounts of organic matters supplied to the sediment when they were deposited rather than by the post-depositional processes in the sediment layers. Upward benthic flux to the overlying water and oxidation zone flux to the interface of oxic and anoxic zone are 5.2×10^(-9)μ㏖·㎝^(-2)·sec^(-1), 0.1×10^(-9)μ㏖·㎝^(-2)·sec^(-1), respectively.

This study aims at identifying the characteristics of current science curriculum in several countries in terms of its format, aims and objectives, contents and guidelines. Each country has its own characteristics of science curriculum, also common characteristics among many countries. Firstly, the format of sicence curriculum in Eastern countries is very different from that of Western countries. Western countries have the curriculum format which includes characteristics and needs of science education, philosophy and background, characteristics of learner, teaching strategy and teaching materials, but Eastern countries have the curriculum format which includes only objectives, contents, and guidelines. Secondly, the aims and objectives of science curriculum in Eastern countries focus on scientific knowledges and concepts, while those of Western countries emphasize scientific methods and attitudes. Thirdly, the contents of science curriculum are very similar regardless of eastern countries or western countries. In other words, all countries included in this study emphasize biological science and earth science at lower grade level and physical science at upper grade level. Especially the observations and learning through curiosity are suggested at lower grade level, and logical reasoning is emphasized at upper grade level. Finally, the guidelines of science curriculum in eastern countries do not suggest specific information about teaching contents, experimental methods, teaching-learning activities, evaluation methods, and teaching and learning materials, while those of western countries provide more specific information about them which teachers can utilize effectively.

By use of C. S. K. summer (1977) and winter (1974) data, the distribution of water types in the East China Sea is studied. In summer, it is classified into the Yellow Sea Cold Water, the Coastal Water, the East China Sea Water, the Mixed Water, the Tsushima Warm Water, and the Kuroshio Water. Seasonal thermocline and halocline appear strongly in the surface layer of the Yellow Sea Cold Water and the Coastal Water, and the maximum value of dissolved oxygen exists at the depth at which seasonal thermocline shows up. The Coastal Water which is formed by mixing with the outflow fresh water of the Yangtze River distributes itself at the surface Iayer because of the lower density. On the other hand, in winter, the Coastal Water does not appear and the characteristics of the Yellow Sea Cold Water and the East China Sea Water are homogeneous vertically. This is because the surface water is mixed vertically with the influence cooling. In both seasons, the Mixed Water appears in the marginal region of the continental shelf and in the continental slope. We can see that the Tsushima Warm Water and the Mixed Water are almost plotted on the same region in the temperature-salinity diagram. The Tsushima Warm Water does not originate from the main flow of the Kuroshio, but from the Mixed Water on the marginal region of the continental shelf and the continental slope.

The purpose of this study is to classify and to analize the instructional objectives in teacher's guides of high school earth science course. The Romey's definition of instructional objectives was based for classification. The results of the study show that approximately 77 percent of total action verbs appeared in all teacher's guides are classified as level NO and level O. The dominant usage of such non-inquiring words may prevent the students from doing investigative activities. The level NO verbs reveals the vagueness of instructional objectives of the guide books themselves. Also, the frequent appearance of level O verbs mean that the books emphasize students recall behavior more than experimental, observational, interpretative and synthetic behaviors. Meanwhile, even the words requiring investigative activities are also mostly classified as low levels and fail to lead the students to grasp major concepts or to show original thoughts. The repeat usage of some particular words in stating instructional objectives, which is prevailing tendency of most book, exposes the monotony in instructional functions of those teacher's guides.

N-logM diagrams of 29 open clusters are obtained by, using observational data and theoretical evolutionary track of stars on M_(bol)-T_(eff) diagram. A certain relation between the forms of N-logM diagrams and their ages are found. And a temporary interpretation is given for it.
