For an advanced intelligent service, the need of HRI technology has recently been increasing and the technology has been also improved. However, HRI components have been evaluated under stable and controlled laboratory environments and there are no evaluation results of performance in real environments. Therefore, robot service providers and users have not been getting sufficient information on the level of current HRI technology. In this paper, we provide the evaluation results of the performance of the HRI components on the robot platforms providing actual services in pilot service sites. For the evaluation, we select face detection component, speaker gender classification component and sound localization component as representative HRI components closing to the commercialization. The goal of this paper is to provide valuable information and reference performance on appling the HRI components to real robot environments.
Characteristic of wastes in a unsanitary landfill at the residential development site in H city, Kyunggi-do was investigated for the disposal of huge amount of wastes. The total amount of wastes was estimated at 117,000 ton and construction solid wastes and municipal solid wastes were detected together. The portion of combustibles was very low and soils, concrete wastes, and pebbles were the major components in landfilled wastes. Because the site was the residential development site, the landfilled wastes should be removed immediately for the construction. Therefore the way that the unsanitary landfill was excavated and the wastes were sorted into three categories such as soils, noncombustibles and combustibles was selected as the best method. Soils and noncombustibles could be recycled and sorted combustibles could be re-landfilled in a smaller area or incinerated.

In this paper, we present a Sound Source Localization (SSL) based GCC (Generalized Cross Correlation)–PHAT (Phase Transform) and new measurement method of angle with robot auditory system for a network-based intelligent service robot. The main goal of this paper is to analysis performance of TDOA and GCC-PHAT sound source localization method and new angle measurement method is compared. We use GCC-PHAT for measuring time delays between several microphones. And sound source location is calculated by using time delays and new measurement method of angle. The robot platform used in this work is wever-R2, which is a network-based intelligent service robot developed at Intelligent Robot Research Division in ETRI.
오늘날 선진국을 비롯한 세계 여러 나라들은 교육을 통한 국가발전에 비상한 관심을 가지고 교육의 개혁을 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 2000년대를 얼마 남겨 놓지 않은 우리 나라의 경우도 미래의 첨단 과학 정보 산업사회를 이끌며 갈 제2세 국민을 위한 교육을 보다 내실있게 추진하기 위하여 여러 가지 방안을 모색하여 새롭고 창의적인 교육을 할 수 있게끔 꾸준한 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.
This paper deals with the study of the effective reflecting area of the land targets for the improvement of the map of the Radar Simulator, through the analysis of the pictures on P.P.I Scope. It is very important to anticipate the effective refiecting area of land marks, either forinterpretation of radar scope or for simulating accurately the radar scope, but has seldom been studied theoretically or experimentarily, especially on the stand point of simulating the radar scope. Most of the maps of Radar Simulator in use are made without consideration of the effective reflecting area of land marks, so that the P.P.I. Scope of the Radar Simulator may show much different pictures from the actual shore line and other targets. This paper has derived the following conclusiions by experimental procedures. 1. The effective area of the land target greatly varies according to the gradient of the contours, roughness and material of the land surfaces, so that simulator maps of uniformly coated land taret practically used now many be effectively improved by varying the intensity of the land marks proposed in this paper. 2. The intensity of the land targets on the P.P.I. is also related much to the distance from the radar, so that the precalculation of this effect may results in a much simulated P.P.I. picture improved. 3. If the ambient condition is constant, the intensity of the picture increases as the height of the targets is increased.
