This paper investigates complementizers and complementation in English and Korean. I argue that a sentence is ultimately a projection of C because the clausal types must be present for interpretation and that the clausal typing feature in C must be checked off. It is shown that the superficial difference between English-type languages and Korean-type languages with regard to wh-movement is due to different modes of checking off the clausal typing feature in C. Some theoretical consequences of this proposal are that successive cyclic wh-movement can be naturally accounted for in a derivational approach to syntax and that the strength of C is always strong both in English and Korean-type languages.

In order to cope with the changes of container terminal situation in these days, many simulation studies for container terminal have been accomplished. But previous simulation studies using simulation language have limitations in model representation and difficulties in modeling of large scaled container terminal system. To make these problems better, this paper addresses an object-oriented simulation of container terminal system using a DEVS formalism. The DEVS(Discrete Event System Specification) formalism, developed by Zeigler, supports specification of discrete event system in a hierarchical and modular manner. The formalism provides a mathematical basis for studying discrete event systems with better understood and sounder semantics. In a step of system modeling, a DEVS formalism aims at the exact system modeling that has a basis of semantics and utilizing the object-oriented manner can flexibly cope with the changes of system environment. In this study a model is developed and verified through the simulation of some alternatives.

Park, Sang-soo. 1996. The Effect of Formal Features on the Word Order Change in the History of English. Studies in Modern Grammatical Theories 9: 27-55. According to the descriptive study of texts of OE, the underlying word order of Late OE should be analyzed as a double base hypothesis. We therefore propose that the functional category of IP had both I-final SOVI and I-initial SIOV and the lexical category of VP had head-initial OV in the OE underlying structure. In the Minimalist Program the operation Attract-F is driven by the morphological considerations: the requirement that some formal features must be attracted to the functional category and checked off before Spell-out. We can explain the verb-seconding and the topicalization of OE main clauses using the operation Attract-F. The strong features of [+finite] and [+topicJ appear in the C of CP and attract the morphological features of lexical category to check the verb-seconding in the C and the topicalization in the Spec of CP. The change of underlying word order from SOVI and SIOV of OE to SIVO of ME was triggered by the inflections which were rich and full in the OE period but became reduced and levelled in the ME period The levelled inflections of ME provided the morpho-syntactic motivation for the reanalysis of underlying word order that caused the [+finite] feature in C to incorporate into the (+tense] feature in I and made the verb-seconding and the cliticization disappear in the ME period.

This paper is a study on standard testing method for type approval of DSC which is the main structure of the terrestrial communication. As authority inspecting offices and producers have no experience for type approval of relative equipments as adapting GMDSS. In this paper, it is to be improved the understanding for type approval ; a system, standard of technic and testing methods, etc and make better quality of relative equipments. Additionally it could help quality and quantity improvement in all radiocommunication parts. Of course, the regulation for type approval had made but most makers didn't know it correctly, so the method of solution have been studied. By result of this study, with comparision and analysis of structure and a condition of efficiency with adapting GMDSS is could help some problems slove in the field and gave testing method of machinery and tools, electrical conditions, came out measurement and did ways standard efficiency.
