        The purpose of this thesis is to give a perspective on the music theory of Ancient Greece & Rome through the study of original texts. Nine major theorists' treatises are discussed under the separate title, repectively. And also 7 minor theorists' treatises or theories are mentioned also in the course of discussion in relation to the major one. The rise of Western music theory can be traced back to the time of Pytagoras. His mathematical calculation of intervals set up the long tradition of treating music as mathematical scholarship. And the other branch of music theory was established soon also. That was an empirical one initiated by Aristoxenus who was a pupil of Aristotle. And then these two branches interacted in the course of development of music theory. That is, although most of the ancient theorists belonged to the Pytagorian school, those representatives such as Euclid·Ptolemy·A. Quintilian accommodated some of Aristoxenus' theory. Theorists represented the Aristoxenian school were Cleonides(cf. footnote 3) and Cassiodorus(cf. footnote 23). The topics dealt with in ancient treatises were intervals, scales, modes, scale systems, rhythm, tuning, notation, ethos of music, and Pytagorian concept of music of spheres. Intervals were discussed in depth particularly in relation to tuning (Ptolemy), tetrachord which was the basis of scales (Aristoxenus, A. Quintilian), and modes (Ptolemy, Gaudentius). The scale systems of the Greater Perfect system and the Lesser Perfect system became the norm throughout the ancient times. Of the rhythm, feets mentioned first by Aristoxenus were clearly explained and expanded by St. Augustine. Information on Greek notation relies on Alypius. Ethos of music and the idea of music of spheres were presented in length especially by Ptolemy and Boethius.

        새로운 공학재료의 하나인 복합재료는 뛰어난 역학적 성질로 인해 공학 전 분야에 걸쳐 사용이 점진적으로 증가하고 있다. 이 복합재료에 대한 개발뿐만 아니라 정적 혹은 동적 하중을 받는 복합 구조물의 연구는 많이 수행되어 왔고 대부분 가해지는 하중은 확정적인 것으로 가정되었다. 그러나 실제 많은 상황에 있어 구조물에 가해지는 하중의 성질은 불규칙적이다. 본 연구에서는 불규칙 진동을 받는 복합적층판의 비선형 해석을 유한요소법에 의거하여 해석하였으며 고전 판 이론과 전단변형을 고려한 1차, 3차 이론을 비교 분석하였다. 많은 복합재료들은 전단 변형에 있어 재료적인 비선형을 나타내므로 이를 본 연구에 포함하였다.

        고분자/용매계에서 물질전달현상에 이용되는 용매의 상호확산계수를 예측하기 위하여 기존의 UNFACFV을 적용한 확산식을 유도하였으며, 상호확산계수를 계산하였다. 또한, 새로운 모델식에 의하여 계산한 값을 실험치 및 Vrentas-Duda의 이론치와 비교하였다. 상화확산계수를 구하는데 필요한 자기확산계수는 Vrentas-Duda의 이론을 이용하고, 용매의 화학포텐셜의 농도 미분항은 original UNIFAC-FA와 modified UNIFAC-FV를 사용하였다. Flory-Hugginstlr을 이용한 Vrentas-Duda의 상호확산식은 용매의 화학포텐셜의 농도 미분항을 표현하기 위하여 매개변수 x를 온도와 농도에 무관한 상수로 가정한 단점을 가지고 있으나, 본 연구에서 제시한 방법에서는 이러한 가정이 없으며, 여러 가지 고분자/용매계(polyisobutylene homopolymer 및 polyisobutylene-poly(pmethylstyrene) copolymer와 cyclohexane, n-hexane, n-pentane, chloroform, toluene)에서의 상호확산계수를 잘예측하였다. 특히 PIB/toluene계의 경우, 본 논문에서 사용된 방법이 Vrentas-Duda 이론에 의한 것보다 실험치에 더 가까웠다. 또한, 아무런 가정이나 제약없이, 넓은 온도 및 농도 영역에서 고분자/용매계의 상호확산계수를 예측할 수 있는 좋은 방법임을 알 수 있었다.

        It is the purpose of this study to document the decline of modal theory in the seventeenth century and the concurrent emergence of major-minor key theory. Emergence of major-minor key theory in the seventeenth century put an end to virtually unbroken tradition of modal theory which had endured for at least two millennia. Glarean and Zarlino are linked directly to the recognition of major-minor key theory in recent literature. In reality, however, there is not a trace major-minor thinking in Glarean's Dodecachordon. For from trying to isolate the new Aeoliean and Ionian modes, Glarean argues that he is only trying to complete an imperfect system of eight modes by correcting a misunderstanding of the nature of mode as octave species. One of the earliest indications of new direction in modal thinking is found in Zarlino's Istitutioni harmoniche. After acknowledging the existence of twelve different modes, Zarlino goes on to state that all of them could ultimately be broken down into two groups: 1) Those with a major triad on the final or mediant. 2) Those with a minor triad on the final or mediant. Zarlino maintains, furthermore, that it is the presence of major or minor triads on these particular scale degrees which determines the affection of music. During the period transition from modal theory to major-minor key theory, roughly coextension with the seventeenth century, elements and characteristics of modes are often found intermingled with key traits. But to say, in effect, that four of six mode pairs fell into disuse leaving only Aeolien and Ionian, and that these two pairs were identical to minor and major, respectively, is to ignore the historical evidence of seventeenth century music treaties. To say that major and minor descended from Ionian and Aeolian is misleading for two reasons: 1) Those who dealt with two modes and treated them as "modes," i. e., subjected them to transition, generally chose Ionian and Dorian. 2) Those who dealt with two modes, one on C and one on A, treated them as keys from the start and ignored their fortuitous to Ionian and Aeolien respectively. In conclusion, it can be seen that Ionian octave-scale pattern becomes the major mode. It is impossible, however, to provide such a tidy picture for the ancestry of the minor mode because no single scale is used exclusively and not all forms of minor scale (i. e., harmonic and melodic minor) correspond to one of the earlier modes. Yet despire the variability of minor mode, theorists are still able to speak of the major-minor mode since what they consider to be the most essential property of their two modes-the third above the tonic consisting of either a ditone or a tone semitone-is present in the single major scale as well as in each of the diverse forms of the minor scale.

        Nowadays because of social and structural complexities, patients in the field of Psychoneurosis tend to increase gradually. The category about Psychosomatic disease of Psychosomatic Medicine which is studied at present, nevertheless, is seen to focused on the limited range that called neurotic state and studies of Psychosomatic Medicine is divided into the field of psychology, philosophy and medicine. To set up the foundation for the course of Psychosomatic Medicine and medical solution of Psychosomatic relation, I have considered, compared and contrasted between Stress theory and Seven modes of emotion theory which is well thought to reflect the Psychosomatic Medicine and I came to the conclusion as follows; 1. Stress theory has commons with Seven modes of emotion theory in mechanism and notion. First, Both-Stress and Seven modes of emotion theory- explain the changes of function in body. second, they both are the internal reactions. third, they bring about the morphologic disease directly through the functional path change. Finally, the reaction is not partial but general and synthetic. Four similarities above show that two theories are identical with respect to the important characteristics and mechanism. 2. Compared with Seven modes of emotion theory, Stress theory concentrates on only anger, anxiety, surprise out of Seven emotion modes and that was the part to be studied from now on. 3. Studies on Stress and Seven modes of emotion theory is the ones which makes clear the prospect and course of Psychosomatic Medicine. They provide the clue that can explain the relationship of mind and disease, emotion and body, and already established theory. So they developed the medical science from treatment-centered to prevention- centered.

        Thanks to the fact that the 1953 Korea Armistice Agreement does not have any clear provisions on the sea demarcation line, the North Korea insists that the sea demarcation line in the Yellow Sea Area should not be the NLL designated by the Commander in Chief. UN Command, unilaterally, but the hypothetical extention of the Latitude Parallel from the end of the provincial boundary line between Whanghae-do and Kyongki-do In those unique situations at the end of the Korean War, the cease-fire line on the part of the western sea area, a logically indispensable element of the contents of an armistice agreement, however has formed and crystallized by the act of the UN Command designating the NLL. In implementing the South-North Korean Basic Relations Agreement, a fair and clear common consent on the sea demarcation line in the western sea area should be deliberated.

        The purpose of this paper is to apply Stephen C. Pepper's contextualism to architecture: to interpret the former in the light of architectural theory, and ultimately to liberate architecture from the Western 'Idea' and return it to its context. The major concepts of Pepper used in the paper are quality, texture, spread, change, fusion, strand and context. Pepper's contextualism makes us realize that architecture cannot be separated from its context where human beings, history, neighborhood, and nature are all interpenetrating, and create a quality. Contextualism thus teaches us to make an effort to understand the region where we belong, and to create an architectural device that interrelates form and function of an architecture with its space-time environment, or its strand, texture and context.

        Since 1960, the change of architectural trend was dominated by two factors ; the one, the introduction of theory of language (including semantic, syntactic, pragmatic, linguistic, semiotic, structuralism, post-structurism) in design concept, the other, the adaption of high technology in building construction. In particular, the theory of language played an important role in the emergence of new tendency, which could be the alternative of modern architecture. Post-modernism and Typology in the 1960-70s, Deconstructivism in the 1980s and 'Folding' architecture in the 1990s, have continually borrowed a theoretical base from the thee of language. Placing the focus on the relation of contemporary architecture and theory of language with the interdisciplinary view, this study comes to the conclusion that the diverse architectural tendencies since 1960 depend on the 'champ d'enonce', which Michel Foucault, French philosopher, defined in his <Archeology du savoir>. The writings of many architects, like Robert Venturi, Micheal Graves, Aldo Rossi, Peter Eisenman, Rem Koolhaas, Bernard Tschumi, Gerg Lynn demonstrate our conclusion. This is an important finding which make possible consistent understanding about contemporary architecture.

        The essence of Chinese landscape architecture is realization of a space that embraces nature and human integrating the openness and encloseness. The concept of landscape architecture that artificially furnishes natural elegance into urban areas coincides with the spiritual basis of Chinese literati-painting which subjectifies the scenery of objective world and entrusts personal feelings on that. In other words, the ultimate ideal of Chinese landscape architecture is embodying the Utopia of confucian intellectual in a city. This paper has tried to shed a light on inter-relationship of literati-painting theory and Chinese landscape architecture theory through comparing them. It is the identical spiritual basis they shared harmoniously that made landscape architecture, poetry and painting possible to meet.

        Based on the pore filling theory, the microstructure evolution during liquid-phase sintering has been analyzed in terms of interrelationship between average grain size and relative density. For constant liquid volume fraction, the microsturucture trajectories reduced to a single curve in a grain size(x)-density(y) map, regardless of grain growth constant. The slope of curves in the map was inversely proportional to average pore size, while it increased fapidly with liquid volume fraction. Increase in pore volume fraction retarded the densification considerably, but showed marginal effect on the slope. The activation energy of densification was predicted to be the same as that of grain growth as long as the liquid volume fraction is constant for any temperature range studied. The present analyses on microstricture evolution may demonstrate the usefulness of pore filling theory and provide a guideline for process optimization of liquid-phase sintering.

        The theory of tectonic appeared in the midst of 19th century as German architects adopted new materials and structural technology, invented by creative engineers, into architectural design. This does not merely mean a technical problem but concern the redefinition of architecture in term of an aesthetic, cultural, and ontological identity. Furthermore it alluded to a desire on the part of architectural theorists to actualize artistic and spiritual goals out of new constructional necessities. Because of their complex discourse that assumed the possibility of communication between philosophical and technical aspects, between ideal and real concerns, tectonics becomes until now the most important issue in architecture. The concept of tectonic was intensively investigated by Gottfried Semper's and Karl Bötticher architectural writings. They contributed to clarify the principle aspects of tectonic within architectural, philosophical, and anthropological discourses of 19th century. Gottfried Semper stressed an understanding of how architecture took on physical form in earliest human culture. He placed great importance on the artistic expression of materials. But unlike Semper who argued the cladding of the structural frame by decorative wall system, Karl Botticher required maximum visibility of structural frame.         전단변형 효과를 무시하는 경우에 보존력을 받는 박벽공간뼈대구조의 자유진동 및 안정성해석을 위한 일반이론을 유도한다. 이를 위하여 비대칭 박벽단면의 임의점을 통과하는 부재축과 이와 직각을 이루는 두 개의 좌표축을 도입하여 직각좌표계를 정의하고, 이 좌표축을 기준으로 semitangential 회전의 2차항을 고려하는 변위장을 도입하여 연속체에 대한 가상일의 원리로 부터 운동에너지, 탄성변형에너지, 그리고 초기응력에 의한 포텐셜에너지를 유도한다. 이를 이용하여 선형분포하중을 받는 박벽공간뼈대구조의 자유진동 및 안정성해석을 위한 운동방정식을 제시한다. 3차 Hermitian 다항식을 변위파라미터의 형상함수로 사용하여 박벽공간뼈대부재의 질량, 탄성강성 및 기하학적 강성행렬을 산정할 뿐만 아니라, 임의의 위치에 작용하는 분포하중에 대한 하중보정강성행렬(load-correction stiffness matrix)을 제시한다. 본 이론 및 방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 수치해석을 수행하고 문헌의 결과와 비교하여 정당성을 입증한다.

        According to Post-modernists including deconstructivists, as Modernism is changed into Post-modernism, the paradigm is shifted from consciousness to language. The paradigm of consciousness corresponds to representational language, and the paradigm of language to self-referential one. In post-modern age most of architects are wandering what kind of language architecture is. Some theorists contend that architecture is representational, and others that it is self-referential. Allan Colquhoun, who is known as one of the best architectural theorists inUnited States, accepts both the former and the latter, but fails to reveal the meaning and the limitation, of the two languages. Although he believes that the representational language of architecture ('figure') is the source of self-referential language of architecture('form'), he never clearly answers what kind of language architecture. In order to overcome the limitation and the meaning of Colquhoun's figure and form, and synthesize the two language, this essay appropriates Martin Heidegger's some concepts, 'ready-to-hand,' 'present-at-hand' and 'being-in-the-world' to make a theoretical framework for 'image' which prevails over and synthesizes 'form' and 'figure.' Since Image is based upon both 'being-in-the world' and 'ready-to-hand,' it is the source of 'form' and 'figure.' When 'image' is fragmented, the former and the latter emerge. Image is therefore both the former and the latter because it represents and self-refers a world as a reality.

        액체 상태에서 물질이 확산되는 현상을 자유 부피의 개념으로 해석하고자 하는 노력은 1959년에 Cohen과 Turnbull에 의해서 시작되었다. 그들은 액체의 부피를 두 부분으로 나누었는데, 하나는 분자가 차지하고 있는 점유 부피(Occupied volume)이고, 다른 하나는 자유 부피(Free-volume)로서 무작정한 열적 유동에 의해서 재분배된다. 온도의 변화에 의해 부피가 변하는 것은 이 자유 부피의 변화때문이며, 점유 부피는 온도에는 무관함 것으로 갖주하였다. 분자가 액체 상태에서 이동하려면 이웃에 충분한 크기의 자유 부피 공간이 존재해야한다. 따라서, 분자의 확산은 분자가 이들 자유 부피 공간들로 도약하는 것이다. Cohen-Turnbull의 이론에서는 순수한 액체의 자기 확산 계수(Self-diffusion conefficient)는 자유 부피의 무작정한 유동에 의하여 임계 크기의 공간이 생성되는 확률과 관련이 있다. Cohen-Turnbull 자유 부피 이론은 그 후 많은 사람들에 의해서 수정되었고, 그중에서 현재 가장 널리 사용되는 것은 Fujita의 이론과 Vrentas-Duda의 이론이다. 두 이론 모두 확산 데이터를 correlation하는데는 문제가 없으나, Vrentas-Duda의 이론만이 확산계수를 예측할 수 있는 능력이 있다. 또한, 고분자와 용매의 도약 단위의 몰 질량이 같을때에 Vrentas-Duda의 이론은 Fujita의 이론과 같아지므로, Fujita의 이론은 Vrentas-Duda의 이론의 특수한 경우라고 할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 Vrentas-Duda 자유 부피 이론만을 다루기로 하겠다.

        p-version 유한요소법에 의한 고정밀해석은 응력특이가 발생하는 선형탄성 문제에 매우 적합한 방법으로 인식되고 있다. 해석 결과의 정확도, 모델링의 단순성, 입력자료에 대한 통용성 및 사용자와 CPU 시간의 절감 등 여러장점이 선형탄성 문제에 적용되어 우수성이 입증되었지만, 탄소성 해석분야는 아직 적용이 이루어지지 않고 있다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 일-경화재료에 대한 구성방정식을 이용하여 정식화된 증분소성이론과 소성유동법칙에 근거한 재료비선형 p-version 유한요소모델이 제안되었다. 비선형방정식을 풀기 위해 Newton-Raphson법과 초기강성도법 등의 반복법이 모색되었다. 제안된 모델을 이용하여 개구부를 가진 사각형 평판과 내압을 받는 두꺼운 실린더, 그리고 등분포하중을 받는 원판해석 등의 수치실험이 수행되었다. 한편, p-version 모델에 의한 해석결과는 문헌의 이론값과 상용유한요소프로그램인 ADINA의 해석결과와 비교 검증되었다.
