The Mesostigmata is an order of Subclass Acari either parasiting to diverse invertebrates or free-living predatory in terrestrial ecosystem. Phoresy is one of the unique behaviors of wingless arthropod dispersal by attaching winged arthropods. We collected mites attached on the dorsal part of abdomen adult sciarid fly, from mushroom culture. The mites were identified as Arctoseius cetratus Sellnick, 1940 in the family of Ascidae. Arctoseius cetratus has short J2, Z1, Z2, and S1, S2 setae, not reaching the bases of following setae. Posterior half of dorsal shield with longitudinal garland of puncta between J and Z setae, peritremes extending anteriorly to midlevel of coxaⅡ. The genus Arctoseius and species Arctoseius cetratus are the first record in Korea. We provided the detail description of the species including the identification key in the family with some ecological notes.

Psyllids are small sap sucking insects. Around 4,000 species are described worldwide. They show their greatest diversity in the tropical and south temperate zones. Several psyllid species are pest of crops such as citrus, pear, potato and tomato. They has been also responsible for extensive damage to ornamental trees. In this study, we report four psyllids species, new to Korea: Cacopsylla satsumensis (Kuwayama, 1908) on Raphiolepis indica (Rosaceae), Calophya nigridorsalis Kuwayama, 1908 on Rhus spp. (Anacardiaceae), Carsidara limbata Enderlein, 1926 on Firmiana simplex (Sterculiaceae) and Trioza machilicola Miyatake, 1968 on Machilus thunbergii (Lauraceae). All of them were found as large colonies, severely feeding on host plants, excreting sticky honeydew on which blackish sooty mold grows. Carsidara limbata secrete pale wax masses. Cacopsylla satsumensis cause leaf distortion and Trioza machilicola make galls underside of the leaves.

Orussidae is a unique family belonging to the ‘Symphyta’, Hymenoptera. It is a small group of parasitoid sawflies, consisting of about 90 known extant species in 15 genera in the world. Most species of Orussidae are thermophilous and imagines are active during the hottest hours of the day. Therefore, orussids are rarely collected. They are known to be idiobiont ectoparasitoids of larvae of wood-boring beetles such as Buprestidae and Cerambycidae or Hymenoptera such as Siricidae and Xiphydriidae, although records of orussids parasitizing introduced siricids in New Zealand do not constitute a natural host relationship. Within the family, Orussus is the largest and most widely distributed genus. Currently, 28 valid species are recognized. Recently, Vilhelmsen et al. (2014) reported three new species of the genus Orussus from the Oriental region. Here we describe a new species, Orussus sp. nov., from South Korea and provide a revised key to the eastern Palaearctic species of Orussidae. Also, phylogenetic analyses place the new species basally in Orussus, together with other species from the Far East.

The subfamily of Phycitinae is one of the largest groups in family Pyralidae, as Solis and Mitter (1992) estimated, about 4000 species in the world. The Phycitinae are characterized by the following characteristics: forewings long and narrow, with 11 veins or less, R3 and R4 stalked at base or fused completely, both male and female with only one frenulum; gnathos usually rod-shaped or coniform; valva usually hairy, with well-developed costa, sacculus well-sclerotized, shorter than valva, transtilla free or connected at top, juxta and vinculum U-shaped; most of male with culcita; ductus bursae usually from corpus bursae. The larvae of phycitinae are leaf rollers, leaf bores and leaf miners, also they are predators and products pests. Their distribution is throughout the world (Munroe and Solis, 1999). Leech and South (1901) first reported 3 species of Phycitini from the Korean Peninsula; after that, several researchers respectively made contributions to the fauna of Korean Phycitinae. Until 2008, Bae et al. recorded 79 species from South Korea. Currently, Qi and Bae (2014) added two more phycitinae species for Korea. In the present study, we identified two more Phycitinae species which are newly recorded from Korea. The morphology of adults and genitalia are redescribed and illustrated, the specimens examined are deposited in Incheon National University, Korea.

Family Micropterigidae is a most archaic family of Lepidoptera and purely known through the world. The family previously had been placed in a proper ordinal rank as Zeugloptera (Chapman, 1917, Hinton, 1946, 1958), but this family is a member of the Lepidopetera (Kristensen, 1984). Adults has typical shaped antenna with ‘ascoid’ sensilla (branched basiconic sensilla). They are usually diurnal, but noctunal activity is reported for some species. They mostly pollen eaters (Kristensen, 1999). The family consist of about 120 described species in 10 genera, but about half as many are recognized and still unnamed (Kristensen, 1999). The genus Micropterix known 67 species from the Palaearctic region and mainly from the Mediterranean sub-region. In Asia, seventeen species belonging to five genera of the family were reported from Japan, but it has not been known from Korea. Recently, we catched a specimen of genus Micropterix of the family Micropterigidae from Mt. Gariwang-san, Prov. Gangwon. The purpose of this study is to introduce about the family Micoropterigidae new to Korea.
