        The annoyance potential for odor sources can be evaluated by separation distances. A separation distance between a standard pig farm and a residential area was investigated by the AERMOD model. The studied area comprised four sites in Korea. The study sites were Paju, Yangpyeong, Suwon, and Icheon, respectively. The separation distances criteria of the three reference Odor Impact Criteria (OIC) were used to evaluate the separation distance. Results show that separation distances for the four sites were calculated 20 m from the fence in the existing pig farm criteria case [exceedance probability P (%) = 2.0% and concentration = 6 OU] in Ireland. In the case of the new pig farm criteria [(exceedance probability P (%) = 2.0% and concentration = 3 OU) of Ireland, results show that the separation distances of the four locations were between 120 m and 145 m from the fence. These values were about 3.0~4.5 times larger than those of the existing pig farm criteria case. In the case of a concentration of 1 OU and the exceedance probability P (%) of a 2.0% criteria, the separation distances of the four sites ranged from 250 m to 290 m.

        In this study, the odor generated in a livestock farm with 500 heads of finisher breed in 661 m² was monitored during 6 months using a gas sensor, a wired / wireless communication system and database server. Odor unit, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) were monitored using the gas sensor. To show the tendency of odorous substances generation, the odor concentration was shown in the graph on a monthly and daily basis. Among the analysis items, the maximum generation of odor was found to be closely related to the generation of hydrogen sulfide. Through observing the daily and monthly trends of odor substances, it was found that each substance was a useful indicator for monitoring odor, because ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, odor and TVOC were increased and decreased in a similar pattern. The odors were highest in the hours of the early morning (00:00-05:00), the evening (18:00-23:00), and the morning (06:00-11:00) in a day. After the use of the microbial agent was discontinued in autumn (October), anaerobic digestion of the manure in a pit proceeded and the amount of hydrogen sulfide increased. Therefore, despite a slight decrease in ammonia production, the odor unit level did not decrease after October but rather was somewhat increased. In the future, the use of the odor monitoring system is expected to improve the efficiency of odor sources management.

        The objective of this study was to comparatively analyze the vocalizations of farrowing sows and their piglets in a welfare certified farm and a conventional farm as they are useful parameters for animal welfare assessment. The conventional farm using the gestation stall, farrowing crate and nursery, grower‐finisher pigs were accommodated in small pens. On the other hand, in the welfare certified farm using the group feeding gestation sows, which allows them to turn around in the furrowing pens, unlike in the crates and nursery, grower‐finisher pigs were accommodated in large pens. Vocalization of farrowing sows and their piglets were recoded and acoustic parameters were analyzed. Eight vocalizations―screaming, fighting, playing, suckling competition, suckling, piglet call, frightened, and space competition―were recoded in the farrowing crate and classified; 4 ordinary and 4 non‐ordinary vocalizations were identified. However, frightened and space competition vocalizations were not detected in the farrowing pen. Screaming, fighting, playing, suckling competition, and suckling vocalizations were significantly (p<0.01) different in pitch, intensity and duration between the farrowing pen and the farrowing crate. Piglet call vocalization did not differ between the farrowing facilities. These findings will aid us in using the differences in vocalizations, under different conditions, as parameters of animal welfare assessment.

        토마토는 어느 정도 높은 온습도에서 잘 자라기 때문에 주로 비닐하우스에서 재배되어왔다. 최근에는 정보통신기술 (ICT)의 발달로 온도, 습도, CO₂등의 환경요소를 원격으로 조절하여 힘과 시간을 덜 소모하고도 작물의 생육환경을 편리하게 관리할 수 있는 스마트팜(Smart farm)이 늘어나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 토마토 비닐하우스 및 스마트팜에서의 위치별 온․습도와 토마토의 주요 해충인 담배가루이와 작은뿌리파리의 발생량 및 시설 내 발생분포를 조사하였다. 조사결과, 시설재배지 내의 위치에 따라 온․습도 및 해충 발생량에 차이가 나타났으며, 작은뿌리파리의 경우 시설의 가장자리 및 낮은 위치에서, 담배가루이는 시설의 중앙부 및 높은 위치에서 밀도가 높게 나타나는 경향을 보였다.

        본 연구는 넙치 양식장 시설 내로 유입되는 병원 미생물을 효과적으로 관리하기 위한 오존 처리 기준을 마련하고자 수행되었다. 유수식 환경에서 오존 주입량을 0.3∼3.0 mg O3 L-1의 범위로 주입하면서 3분의 반응시간을 가진 후 ORP 320~410 mV에서 TRO가 0.01±0.01 mg L-1가 검출되었으며, 600 mV와 700 mV에서 0.07±0.02 mg L-1와 0.16±0.03 mg L-1가 검출되었다. 오존 처리에 따라 총세균수는 80.6~97.9%의 제거율을 나타내어 오존 처리를 통한 미생물 제거효과는 분명하게 나타났다. 230 g 넙치를 8.0 kg m-2 밀도로 사육한 300~400 mV 실험구에서는 총세균수는 가장 낮은 값을 보였다. 특히 400~500 mV에서 Vibrio spp.와 그램음성균은 거의 검출되지 않았다. 일간사료섭취율은 300~500 mV에서 0.7% 이상을 나타내어 대조구인 자연해수보다 감소하지 않아 부작용이 적은 것으로 나타났다. 넙치 양식장으로 유입되는 병원 미생물은 유입수의 ORP 400 mV 수준에서 효율적으로 제거되는 것으로 조사되었다.

        In this study, the loading rates (or emission rate) and concentrations of air pollutants (ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10 and TSP)) emitted from a naturally ventilated dairy facility were analyzed and compared to enable a better understanding that are in close proximity to each other, air pollution status. In general, the pollution patterns should be similar in measurement sites that are in close proximity to each other, and this hypothesis was fundamental to our approach in this study. For the comparison in nearby different sites, monitoring points were located at inside (source site) and outside the dairy building (ambient site), and concentrations and wind velocity were simultaneously monitored in real time. The patterns of PM2.5 emission rate and loading rate were similar in the source site and the ambient site which was consist with the hypothesis, while the PM2.5 mass concentration were not similar in both sites. As well as PM2.5, the emission rates (source site) of gaseous carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O) were highly correlated to their loading rates (ambient site), while the concentrations of CO2 and N2O were not similar. Therefore, wind velocity, which is included in the emission or loading rate, should be simultaneously monitored with the concentration at the same measurement points for better understanding of the air pollution status.

        세계풍력발전협회(GWEC) 2017년도 Global Wind Report에 따르면 전세계 풍력에 의한 발전용량은 2001년도 23,900MW에서 2016년도 486,790MW로 비약적으로 발전하고 있다. 반면 국내 발전원별 총발전량 비중에서 풍력에 의한 발전은 0.2% 불과하다. 국내외 발전원별 정산단가가 풍력으로 전기를 생산하는 데 드는 발전원가가 석유 등 화석연료 발전원가와 같아지는 Grid Parity에 이미 도달하여 풍력발전에 의한 전기의 생산은 더욱 확대될 것이다. 본 연구에서는 전 세계 해상풍력설비의 88%가 위치하고 있는 유럽의 주요 해상풍력발전단지의 선박통항 규정과 어로활동에 대한 기준을 분석하여 향후 국내 해상풍력발전단지 설치 시 선박통항 및 어로활동 기준 설정 시 고려되어야 할 사항을 제시하였다.

        The Korean aquaculture industry was generally began in the 1970s and has gradually increased. Now, the number of households is about 7,068 and the scale of an aquaculture farm is about 248,014 ha; the value of all production in the industry is estimated to be about 1602.2 billion won. The aquaculture industry is very valuable and important for future food resources. However, the aquaculture industry was damaged by several marine ecological disturbance causing organisms. The Ascdiella aspersa colonized on the shell of scallop and then scallops were detached from rope. The patterns of damage in the aquacultures were observed in Tongyeong (oyster), Geojedo (oyster), and Gangneung (sea squirt) in June, 2017, as well as in Tongyeong (oyster) in November, 2017 by SCUBA divers. The species Halichondria bowerbanki, Bugula neritina, Mytilus galloprovincialis, Balanus amphitrite, Ascidiella aspersa, Ciona intestinalis, Didemnum sp, Styela plicata in Tongyeong, M. galloprovincialis, A. aspersa, C. intestinalis, D. vexillum, S. plicata in Geojedo, and M. galloprovincialis in Gangneung were all usually found in their farms. The marine ecological disturbance causing organisms gave rise to a reduced number of aquaculture products.

        In this study, the morphology and antioxidant content of shiitake mushrooms (Lentinula edodes) cultivated in smart farms and general farms have been compared. With regard to morphology, mushrooms produced in the smart farm system exhibited a slightly thicker and wider pileus and thicker and longer stipe than those in the general farm system. The stipe in the mushrooms from moderate-sized farms was harder, because the low relative humidity of cultivation rooms could induce mushroom tissue to harden. With regard to the antioxidant content, the free radical scavenging activity was evaluated by the DPPH assay. Among the various treatments, hot water extracts of freeze-dried shiitake produced from smart farms exhibited the highest DPPH value of 37.8%. In contrast, the lowest activity of 12.2% was observed in a 70% fermented alcohol extract of shiitake that was dried by hot air. The polyphenol content was higher in hot water extracts than in 70% fermented alcohol extracts. Additionally, the polyphenol content was higher in the freeze-dried samples than in hot-air dried ones. The smart-farm system was preferred over the general cropping system for cultivating shiitake mushrooms, because the antioxidant activity and polyphenol content of mushrooms from the smart-farm system was better; the functionality of this system was more improved than that of the general cropping system, and it enables mushrooms to be cultivated more efficiently. The antioxidant content is represented as the mean±SD of three replicates. Different letters indicate significant differences among samples, i.e., p<0.05.

        Fish mortality is the most important success factor in aquaculture management. To order fingerlings considering the effect of mortality is a important problem in aquaculture farm. This study is aimed to decision the number and size of fry in aquaculture farm. This study build the mathematical model that finds the value of decision variable to minimize total cost that sums up the fingerling purchasing cost, aquaculture farm operating cost and feeding cost under mortality constraint. The proposed mathematical model involve biological and economical variables: (1) number of fingerlings (2) fish growth rate (3) mortality (4) price of a fry (5) feeding cost, and (6) possible order period. Numerical simulation model presented here in. The objective of numerical simulation is to provide for decision makers to analyse and comprehend the proposed model. When extensive biological and cost data become available, the proposed model can be widely applied to yield more accurate results.
