        Free-machining agent 'KSX' contains complex calcium oxide is developed. The effect of admix ratio of KSX on mechanical properties and machinability with two different cutting speeds is reported. KSX displays improved machinability without deterioration of mechanical properties up to 0.3mass% addition. It was observed that KSX is effective with a small addition of 0.1mass% at slower cutting speed, and increased of admix ratio is effective at faster cutting speed.

        Disturbances of calciumhomeostasishave beenassociatedwithavarietyofdisease conditions inanimals.Knowledge of serumtotal calciumvalues is essential for understanding disease states that cause calciumalterations outside the reference range. Variations in albumin values can affect the proportion of protein-bound calciumin the total calcium concentration.Adjustment formulas ofmeasured calciumbased onmeasuredalbumin or total protein concentrations were proposed byMeuten et al (MeutenDJ, ChewDJ, CapenCCandKocibaGJ. 1982. Am. Vet.Med. Assoc. 180, 63- 67): adjustedcalcium=calcium albumin+3.5 or adjustedcalcium=calcium 0.4 xprotein+3.3. This studywas aimed todevelop relationships between serumtotal calciumandalbumin andbetween serumtotal calciumandtotal protein atdifferent clinical settings, andtocompare these relationshipswithMeuten's. Eachequationvarieddependingonthe laboratories, andtherewas aignificant difference in regression slopes between laboratories. The prevalence of calcium disturbance based on the albumin and total protein equation ranging 0.7-12.1%and 4.6 -19.3%, respectively. These findings suggest that adjustingcalciumformulasmust bedevelopedseparatelyat different clinical settings. Bytheuse of their own formulas, it becomes possible to interpret abnormal calcium values correctly in patients with various clinical conditions.

        벤토나이트는 낮은 침투성, 높은 수착성, 자체밀봉특성, 내구성 등으로 인해 고준위 방사성 폐기물 처분을 위한 지하처분장에서 완충재 후보물질로 고려되고 있다. 적절한 처분장 조건에서 국내 Ca-벤토나이트에 대하여 지하수 침식에 의한 벤토나이트 입자의 발생 가능성과 발생된 벤토나이트 입자들의 영향에 대한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 실험결과 비록 벤토나이트의 팽윤압에 의한 암반 균열로의 벤토나이트의 침투는 적었지만 벤토나이트/화강암 경계에서 벤토나이트 입자가 발생될 수 있고 지하수 흐름에 의해 유동될 수 있음을 보였다. 압축된 벤토나이트 블록으로부터 이러한 벤토나이트 입자들의 유동화에는 각기 다른 과정들이 기여하고 있음을 확인하였다. 유량이 크면 클수록, 유출되는 벤토나이트 입자들의 농도가 높게 나타났다. 따라서 실험결과는 지하수 흐름에 의한 벤토나이트 표면의 침식은 침투과정과 함께 화강암 균열에서의 벤토나이트 입자들을 유동시키는 주요한 과정임을 보여준다.

        Highly Activated Calcium(below HAC) is the oxidized calcium made by dissolving shell materials with high voltage, about 15,000V, and high temperature(1,500~5,000). This HAC is a material with a very high degree of purity without toxicant. This HAC decreases chemical reaction so the degree of being active and dissolving living material is outstanding. The effects of HAC on the propagation of mushrooms are following. In the case of the Pleurotus ostreatus, when controlling media moisture by mixing with the HAC, mycelium cultivating days were shortened by 2days. The day required for primordial formation after inoculation(DPI) were one day faster, The number of stem was 15 and individual weight was 248g/850cc, a 6.5% increase. In the case of Pleurotus eryngii, when controlling media moisture by mixing with the highly activated calcium, mycelium cultivating days were shortened by 3days. DPI were 1 day faster, The day required for colonization after inoculation was shortened by 6days and individual weight was 108.8g/850cc, a 9.7% increase. In the case of Flammulina velutipes, the highly activated calcium was the best for scraping up mycelium. Mycelium incubating days were shortened by 2days. DPI were shortened by 3days. The day required for colonization after inoculation was 1day faster and the period of cultivation was shortened by 3days. Individual weight was 165g/850cc, a 6.7% increase. In the case of Lentinus edodes, when mixing medial with the highly cultivated calcium, cultivating days were shortened by 3days. The days for becoming brown in color were 2 days faster and the days of the first harvest were shortened by 4days. The weight of mushrooms was 169g/2kg, a 9.7% increase.

        본 연구는 칼슘의 시비농도를 인위적으로 조절한 후 국화를 재배하면서 각 원소의 시비수준이 생육과 절화 품질에 미치는 영향을 구명하고 생육을 우수하게 유지할 수 있는 식물체 및 토양의 한계농도를 밝히기 위하여 수행하였다. Ca결핍 증상은 신엽에서 발생하였고, 신엽이 cup 형태로 구부러지는 기형증상이 나타났다. 정식 109일 후에 조사한 절화장은 무시비구, 3.0mM 그리고 4.5mM Ca처리에서 각각 105.8cm, 106.5cm, 107.3cm로 조사되었다. Ca시비농도가 증가할수록 절화중이 무거워져 무처리구가 51.6g이었고 6.0mM 시비구에서 59.4g으로 측정되었다. 건물중이 가장 무거웠던 6.0mM Ca시비구에서 3.09%의 식물체내 Ca함량을 갖는 것으로 분석되어 국화 'Biarritz'의 정상 생육을 위해서는 2.8% 이상의 식물체내 Ca 함량을 갖도록 시비하여야 할 것으로 판단되었다. Ca 시비농도가 증가할수록 토양 농도도 뚜렷하게 높아져 무처리구, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 및 6.0mM 시비구가 각각 5.0, 7.3, 12.1, 16.5 및 28.2mg·L-1로 분석되었다. 건물 생산량을 고려하여 정상 생육을 위한 최저한계점은 25.4mg·L-1이라고 판단되었다.

        Recently, we reported that high extracellular calcium increased receptor activator of nuclear factor- xB ligand (RANKL) expression via p44/42 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p44/42 MAPK) activation in mouse osteoblasts. However, the mechanism for p44/42 MAPK activation by high extracellular calcium is unclear. In this study, we examined the role of intracellular calcium increase in high extracellular calcium-induced RANKL induction and p44/42 MAPK activation. Primary cultured mouse calvarial osteoblasts were used. RANKL expression was highly induced by 10 mM calcium treatment. Ionomycin, a calcium ionophore, also increased RANKL expression and activated p44/42 MAPK. U0126, an inhibitor of MEK1/2, an upstream activator of p44/42 MAPK, blocked the RANKL induction by both high extracellular calcium and ionomycin. High extracellular calcium increased the phosphorylation of proline-rich tyrosine kinase 2 (Pyk2), one of the known upstream regulators of p44/42 MAPK activation. Bisindolylmaleimide, an inhibitor of protein kinase C, did not block RANKL induction and p44/42 MAPK activation induced by high extracellular calcium. 2-Aminoethoxydiphenyl borate, an inhibitor of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptor, blocked the RANKL induction by high extracellular calcium. It also partially suppressed the activation of Pyk2 and p44/42 MAPK. Cyclosporin A, an inhibitor of calcineurin, also inhibited high calcium-induced RANKL expression in dose dependent manner. However, cyclosporin A did not affect the activation of Pyk2 and p44/42 MAPK by high extracellular calcium treatment. These results suggest that 1) the increase in intracellular calcium via IP3-mediated calcium release is necessary for RANKL induction by high extracellular calcium treatment, 2) Pyk2 activation, but not protein kinase C, following the increase in intracellular calcium might be involved in p44/42 MAPK activation, and 3) calcineurin-NFAT activation by the increase in intracellular calcium is involved in RANKL induction by high extracellular calcium treatment.

        이 연구는 글루코만난과 유청칼슘의 혼합물이 1%-Cholesterol을 식이한 후 혈청콜레스테롤에 미치는 영향과 70%-Sucrose를 식이한 후 혈당에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 1%-Cholesterol을 식이한 쥐를 일반식이군(ND)과 비교하였으며, 고콜레스테롤식이군(HCD)에 글루코만난식이군(HCDG)과 글루코만난과 유청칼슘군식이군(HCDGW)으로 나누어 관찰하였다. 또한 70%-Sucrose를 식이한 쥐를 일반식이군(ND)과 비교하였으며, 고혈당식이군(HGD)에 글루코만난식이군(HGDG)과 글루코만난과 유청칼슘군식이군(HGDGW)으로 나누어 관찰하였다. 이를 비교 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 혈청콜레스테롤수치는 HCD> HCDG> HCDGW> ND의 순서로 감소하였다. 2. HCD의 혈청콜레스테롤증가량에 비하여 HCDG는 약 23.84% HCDGW는 약 42.38% 감소하였다. 3. 혈당수치는 HGD >HGDG> HGDGW> ND의 순서로 감소하였다. 4. HGD의 혈당증가량에 비하여 HGDG는 약 6.63% HGDGW는 약 63.14% 감소하였다.

        고활성칼슘은 패각류를 고온(1,500~5,000℃)에서 고전압(약 15,000V)의 전기를 통하여 전기분해해서 생산하는 산화칼슘이며, 제품의 순도가 대단히 높고 독성이 전무하며, 분자간의 결합력을 약화시켜 생체 내 활성도와 용해도가 탁월한 물질이다. 이의 버섯의 생육단계별 고활성칼슘처리효과는 다음과 같다. 느타리버섯은 배지 수분조절시 혼합할 때 균사배양일수가 2일 단축, 초발이 소요일수는 1일 빠르고, 유효발이경수가 15개, 개체중이 148g/850cc로 6.5% 증수되었다. 큰느타리버섯은 배지 수분조절시 혼합할 때 균사배양일수가 3일 단축, 초발이 소요일수는 1일 빠르고, 생육소요일수가 6일간 단축, 개체중이 108.1g/850cc로 9.7% 증수되었다. 팽이버섯은 균긁기 시 처리가 가장 좋았다. 균사배양일수가 2일 단축, 초발이 소요일수는 3일 빠르고, 생육기간은 1일 빠르며, 재배기간은 3일간 단축, 개체중이 165g/850cc로 6.7% 증수되었다. 표고는 배지 혼합시 배양일수가 3일, 갈변화 시작일이 2일, 첫수확 소요일수가 4일 단축되며, 수량은 169g/2kg으로 9.7% 증수되었다.

        This study was conducted to evaluate the biofiltration treatment characteristic for benzene vapor gas. Compost and calcium silicate porous material were used as biofilter fillers. Gas velocity and empty bed retention time were 15 m/hr and 4 min, respectively. Benzene gas removal efficiency of P-Bio (calcium silicate porous material with inoculation) was the highest and maintained in over 98%. After shock input of benzene gas, the removal efficiency of P-Bio biofilter was recovered within 2 days, while 5 days were taken in CP-Bio (compost + calcium silicate porous material mixture with inoculation) and CP (compost + calcium silicate porous material mixture without inoculation) biofilters. The removal efficiency of P-Bio biofilter was near 100% in the loading rate of 〈85g/m3(filling material)/hr, It was shown that the maximum elimination capacities of P-Bio, CP-Bio, and CP biofilters were 95, 69, and 66 g/m3(filling material)/hr, respectively. Microbial number of P-Bio, which the number was the lowest at start-up, was 3 orders increased on operational day 48. CO2 was generated greatly in order of P-Bio, CP-Bio, and CP biofilters.

        꼬막, 참굴, 바윗굴 및 가리비 등 폐기되는 몇 종의 패각류를 이용하여 칼슘 보강용 식품 첨가제의 원료로써 사용 할 수 있는 고순도의 탄산칼슘을 제조하고자 하였다. 꼬막 패각을 900℃에서 5시간 회화한 회화분의 칼슘 함량이 64.9%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 가리비 62.5%, 참굴 62.4%, 바윗굴 61.5% 순이었다. 백색도는 가리비 패각 회화분의 경우 81.6-85.8로서 패각류 중 가장 높았다. 꼬막 패각 회화분(Ca 39.92%)에 ammonium chloride process(ACP)와 ammonium nitrate process(ANP)법을 적용하여 제조한 CaCO₃의 Ca 함량은 40.03-40.04%로 높아졌고, ANP법에 의해 제조한 pH조정 시료의 경우가 40.04%로서 가장 높았으며, 이 방법들에 의해 불순물이 거의 대부분 제거되는 것으로 나타났다. ACP법과 ANP법에 의해 제조한 CaCO₃의 백색도는 101.0-101.5로 매우 우수하였으며, 칼슘보강용 식품첨가제로서 사용될 가능성이 충분하다고 판단된다.

        Calcium phosphate powders were successfully synthesized by using re-cycled eggshell and phosphoric acid. The crystallization behavior and powder morphologies of the synthesized powders were dependent on the starting condition of the eggshell, the mixing ratio and method of the eggshell and phosphoric acid, and calcination temperature. In general, -tricalcium phosphate was stably synthesized at about 90 for 1h at each proper mixing ratio. And, the synthesized powders showed the similar microstructures to the morphology of original eggshell with uniform particle sizes. In this study, the calcium phosphate powders were synthesized with eggshell in various processing method. And their unique microstructures obtained from the eggshell were also. observed. The crystalline developments and microstructures of the synthesized powders were examined by X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy
