        The mechanical properties and microstructures of aluminum-matrix composites fabricated by the dispersion of fine alumina particles less than 20μm in size into 6061 aluminum alloys are investigated in this study. In the as-quenched state, the yield stress of the composite is 40~85 MPa higher than that of the 6061 alloy. This difference is attributed to the high density of dislocations within the matrix introduced due to the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients between the matrix and the reinforcement. The difference in the yield stress between the composite and the 6061 alloy decreases with the aging time and the age-hardening curves of both materials show a similar trend. At room temperature, the strain-hardening rate of the composite is higher than that of the 6061 alloy, most likely because the distribution of reinforcements enhances the dislocation density during deformation. Both the yield stress and the strain-hardening rate of the T6-treated composite decrease as the testing temperature increases, and the rate of decrease is faster in the composite than in the 6061 alloy. Under creep conditions, the stress exponents of the T6-treated composite vary from 8.3 at 473 K to 4.8 at 623 K. These exponents are larger than those of the 6061 matrix alloy.

        전도성 고분자 PFO(Polyfluorene)에 양전극 ITO와 음전극으로 AI 를 추가한 단순한 양극성 구조의 ITO/PFO/Al 소자를 제작하였다. PFO에 BaTIO₃나노세라믹스 분말을 중량비로 0wt%, 10wt%, 20wt% 와 30wt% 로 달리한 4종류의 시편에 만들고, Keithley 사의 2400 Sourcemeter를 이용하여 0V에서 21V까지 DC전압을 인가하면서 소자에 흐르는 전류량을 관찰하였다. 수 나노 크기의 BaTIO₃분말의 첨가는 PFO/AI 계면에서의 전위장벽을 감소시켜 Fowler-Nordheim Tunneling이 시작되는 전압이 BaTIO₃가 첨가되지 않은 시편의 경우에 비하여 7V에서 최대 10V가 낮아진 결과를 얻었다. 소자에 흐르는 최대 전류값은 인가 전압 DC21V일 때 BaTIO₃첨가량에 비례하여 4배에서 5.5배까지 증가하였다. BaTIO₃의 첨가효과는 20wt% 이상 첨가된 경우 효과가 포화되기 시작하여, 30wt%의 BaTIO₃를 첨가한 시편의 전류량은 오히려 감소하였고 전류주입도 어려워지는 상반된 결과를 얻었다. 이것은 첨가한 나노 분말의 표면전하가 만드는 미세전계의 영향이 인접한 거리에서 서로 중첩되어 전류의 흐름이 오히려 감소하는 결과를 보인 것을 판단된다. 이로서 강유전체가 첨가된 전도성 고분자/금속 계면의 I-V 특성은 나노 세라믹스 분말의 표면전하가 만드는 국소미세전계의 영향을 받아 Trap Charge Limited Current 모델에 부합하는 결과를 가짐을 알 수 있었다.

        Hollow silica spheres were prepared by spray drying of precursor solution of colloidal silica. The precursor solution is composed of 10-20 nm colloidal silica dispersed in a water or ethanol-water mixture solvent with additives of tris hydroxymethyl aminomethane. The effect of pH and concentrations of the precursor and additives on the formation of hollow sphere particles was studied. The spray drying process parameters of the precursor feeding rate, inlet temperature, and gas flow rate are controlled to produce the hollow spherical silica. The mixed solvent of ethanol and water was preferred because it improved the hollowness of the spheres better than plain water did. It was possible to obtain hollow silica from high concentration of 14.3 wt% silica precursor with pH 3. The thermal conductivity and total solar reflectivity of the hollow silica sample was measured and compared with those values of other commercial insulating fillers of glass beads and TiO2 for applications of insulating paint, in which the glass beads are representative of the low thermal conductive fillers and the TiO2 is representative of infrared reflective fillers. The thermal conductivity of hollow silica was comparable to that of the glass beads and the total solar reflectivity was higher than that of TiO2.

        수중 이 취미를 유발시키는 대표적인 미량오염물질인 2-methylisoborneal (MIB)과 geosmin(지오스민)의 배제율을 소수성 polyethersulfone (PES) 나노분리막(분획분자량 : 400 Da)을 적용하여 다양한 용액조성에서 관찰하였다. 실험결과 적용된 모든 조건에서 지오스민이 2-MIB보다 다소 높은 배제율을 나타내었다. 용액의 pH 효과를 관찰한 결과 pH가 증가할수록 2-MIB와 지오스민 양쪽 모두 배제율이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 한편, 수중 자연유기물질의 존재는 두 미량유기물질의 배제율을 크게 증가시켰으며 이와 같은 현상은 높은 pH일수록 더욱 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 소수성 분리막을 친수성 TiO2 입자로 표면코팅 시킨 후 배제율을 관찰한 결과 분리막의 표면을 친수화한 후 소수성인 2-MIB와 지오스민의 배제율은 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 따라서 소수성 상호작용은 미량유기물질 나노여과 배제율의 중요한 기작 중 하나임을 확인할 수 있었다.

        우리는 decalin 용액으로부터 결정화 통해 선형 저밀도 폴리에틸렌 (LLDPE) 입자를 제조하였다. 열 유도 상 분리 (TIPS) 공정에서 입자의 형성은 LLDPE/decalin 용액을 제어하여 냉각하는 동안에 형성되었다. 높은 폴리머 농도에서 결정화를 위한 핵 생성과 성장속도의 증가에도 불구하고, 일반적으로 저 농도에서 보다 큰 입자를 초래하였으며, 결과적으로 LLDPE는 decalin 용액에서 농도가 증가할수록 LLDPE 입자의 평균 직경이 증가했습니다. FE-SEM 의 현미경사진에서, 다양한 농도로부터 관찰된 입자는 10 μm 보다 작았으며, 구형 형태를 나타내었다. 부가적으로 그 크기에 대한 효과를 보면, LLDPE 입자 크기 분포는 폴리머 농도가 높을 때가 폭이 컸다.

        식품산업에서의 나노기술은 많은 연구와 가능성 있는 제품으로 새롭게 각광받는 분야이다. 나노와 마이크로 크기의 고체 입자는 유화된 오일 또는 물 입자를 함유하는 분산계의 처방에 적용 가능성이 매우 높은 것으로 인식되고 있다. 본 논문은 식용의 지방 결정, 실리카 나노 입자 및 생체 유래의 나노 결정체에 기반을 둔 식품 에멀젼의 성질과 개발에 관한 리뷰논문으로 다양한 피커링 안정화 분야에 관하여 검토하였다. 특히, 단백질로 안정화된 일반적인 에멀젼과 비교하여 Pickering 안정화 입자에 대해 초점을 맞추고자한다. 또한, 식품 산업에서 이들의 응용 예를 다루고자한다.

        거대억새 자원의 활용도 제고방안의 일환으로 거대억새 파티클을 이용하여 보드를 제조하고 수지첨가량, 수지타입 및 밀도에 따른 물성을 검토하였다. 흡수율은 보드의 밀도 및 수지첨가량이 증가할수록 감소하였으며, 휨강도와 박리강도는 밀도 및 수지 첨가량이 증가할수록 파티클간 결합력이 강해져 증가하였다. 두께 팽창률은 보드의 밀도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였고 수지 첨가량이 많을수록 감소하였다. 수지타입에 따라 두께 팽창률과 흡수율은 액상 페놀수지로 제조한 보드가 더 나은 치수안정성을 보였고, 보드밀도 0.4 g/㎤ 로 제조한 경우 수지 첨가율 11~13% 일 때 휨강도는 분말상 및 액상 페놀수지 간에 차이가 없었으며, 박리강도는 액상의 페놀수지로 제조한 보드가 더 좋은 값을 나타내었다.

        We are crystallized to the linear low density polyethylene(LLDPE) particles by a thermally induced phase separation(TIPS). TIPS process based on the phase separation mechanism was performed for the LLDPE system which undergoes liquid-solid phase separation. The linear low density polyethylene particle formation occurred by the nucleation and growth mechanism in the metastable region. Although the growth rates depended on the experimental conditions such as the polymer concentration and temperature, the particles were larger when the polymer concentration was higher or temperature was higher. The particles were observed by SEM. The LLDPE particle size distribution became broader when the polymer concentration was higher.

        Zinc oxide nanoparticles (nZnO) are used in a various range, including ceramic manufacture, photocatalysis, UV filters, and the food industry. However, little is known about the effects of micro- and nano-particles during mouse embryo organogenesis. To determine whether ZnO affects size-dependent anomalies during embryonic organogenesis, mouse embryos were cultured for two days with 300 ug/ml micro ZnO (mZnO;80±25 μm) and nZnO (< 100 nm) and the developmental changes were then investigated. Quantity of Zn by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry analysis, and expression patterns of various antioxidant enzymes in the embryos were investigated. Embryos exposed to mZnO or nZnO exhibited severe retardation of growth and development. In embryos exposed to mZnO and nZnO, yolk sac diameter, crown-rump length, and head length were significantly diminished. The morphological parameters, including yolk sac circulation, allantois, flexion, heart, hindbrain, midbrain, forebrain, otic system, optic system, branchial bars, maxillary process, mandibular process, olfactory system, caudal neural tube, forelimb, hindlimb, and somites in mZnO and nZnO-treated groups were significantly decreased. Zn absorption of the nZnO-treated group was significantly higher than that of the mZnO-treated group. Significantly decreased levels of CuZn-SOD, Mn-SOD, cGPx, and PHGPx mRNA were observed in the ZnO-treated group. In addition, antioxidant enzyme mRNA expressions of the nZnO group were significantly diminished, less than those of the mZnO treated group. These findings indicate that 300 ug/ml ZnO showed abnormality and nZnO may have a more severe effect than mZnO in developing embryos.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cytokine-induced osteoclastogenesis on tooth movement related to orthodontic force. We evaluated the cytotoxicity as well as the expression of OPG and RANKL, which influence the homeostasis of bone metabolism. Titanium particles were applied to human periodontal ligament cells and subcultured fourth generation cells. The ALP assay and the MTT assay were used to assess changes in cytotoxicity. After 48 hours, cytotoxicity increased proportionally with the concentration of titanium. With 20 mg, the cytotoxicity was the lowest. R T-PCR was u sed for assessing m R NA l evels of O PG a nd R ANKL; after 96 hours, t he m R NAs of O PG a nd R ANKL increased steeply. A western blot analysis showed that with 20 mg of titanium, the protein expression of OPG increased linearly with time, especially a fter 96 hours, while t he p rotein e xpression o f RANKL d id n ot s how significant changes with titanium processing. Given the increase in OPG expression after the initial cytotoxicity, changes in cytotoxicity with titanium may be attributable to the antagonistic effect of OPG on cytotoxicity

        Herein, macroporous carbon materials were readily prepared by carbonization of cured body of resorcinol and formaldehyde using poly(methyl methacrylate) colloid microspheres which were employed as the template in the gelation of resorcinol with formaldehyde. The gel in the water was solvent exchanged with methanol and the wet gel was dried. After carbonization of the template-gel composite at , it was found that pores were left corresponding to the size of the template, yielding carbon materials with a fine porous structure with enlarged surface area and significant porosity. Properties of the carbon foams including the structure, morphology, thermal stability, and porosity were investigated. Finally, it was concluded that the method using polymer colloids as the template provided a facile route to prepare carbon foams.

        Emulsion polymerization was carried out using RMA like MMA, EMA, BMA and Styrene(St.) as monomer for core-shell latex preparation. It was synthesized at 80℃ in the presence of anionic surfactant SLS. FT-IR, TGA and DSC analysis are used to confirm synthesized core-shell emulsion latexes and to investigate the thermal characteristics of them. From analysis of TGA and DSC, the differences of the decomposition rate and the activation energy are not so large. It considers that the pendent group is not affect of the thermal characteristics and stability on core-shell latexes, which is synthesized with RMA and Styrene.

        This paper describes the fabrication of AlN thin films containing iron and iron nitride particles, and the magnetic and electrical properties of such films. Fe-N-Al alloy films were deposited in Ar and N2 mixtures at ambient temperature using Fe/Al composite targets in a two-facing-target DC sputtering system. X-ray diffraction results showed that the Fe-N-Al films were amorphous, and after annealing for 5 h both AlN and bcc-Fe/bct-FeNx phases appeared. Structure changes in the FeNx phases were explained in terms of occupied nitrogen atoms. Electron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy observations revealed that iron and iron nitride particles were randomly dispersed in annealed AlN films. The grain size of magnetic particles ranged from 5 to 20 nm in diameter depending on annealing conditions. The saturation magnetization as a function of the annealing time for the Fe55N20Al25 films when annealed at 573, 773 and 873 K. At these temperatures, the amount of iron/iron nitride particles increased with increasing annealing time. An increase in the saturation magnetization is explained qualitatively in terms of the amount of such magnetic particles in the film. The resistivity increased monotonously with decreasing Fe content, being consistent with randomly dispersed iron/iron nitride particles in the AlN film. The coercive force was evaluated to be larger than 6.4×103Am-1 (80 Oe). This large value is ascribed to a residual stress restrained in the ferromagnetic particles, which is considered to be related to the present preparation process.

        2008년 동아시아 대륙에서 발생기원이 다른 먼지(황사)와 인위적 오염입자의 광역적 이동 사례를 NOAA위성 RGB 합성영상과 지상 입경별 분진(TSP, PM10, PM2.5)의 질량농도 관측으로 분석하였다. 또한 Terra/Aqua 위성 MODIS(Moderate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) 센서의 AOD(Aerosol Optical Depth)와 FW(Fine aerosol Weighting)를 통해 동아시아 지역에서 발생기원이 다른 대기 에어로졸의 분포와 입자 크기 특성을 분석하였다. 중국 북부와 몽골, 그리고 중국 황토고원에서 모래폭풍이 발생하여 광역적으로 이동하여 청원에 먼지입자(황사)로 영향을 주는 6 개의 사례분석을 실시하였다. 질량농도 TSP중 PM10은 70%, PM2.5는 16%로 조대입자(〉 2.5 μm)의 비율이 큰 것은 사막과 반사막의 자연적 발생원에서 생성되었기 때문이다. 그러나, 모래 폭풍이 이동 과정에서 중국 동부의 산업 지역을 거쳐 유입하는 사례에서는 TSP 중 PM2.5가 23%까지 증가하기도 했다. 중국 동부로부터 황해를 거쳐 한반도로 유입한 5개 다른 사례의 경우, TSP 중 PM10, PM2.5가 각각 82, 65%로 나타났다. 이와 같이 PM2.5의 상대적 비율이 증가한 것은 인위적 오염입자의 영향 때문이다. 동아시아 지역에서 인위적 오염입자의 광역적 이동 사례에 대한 평균 AOD는 0.42±0.17로 황사에 의한 AOD(0.36±0.13)와 비교하여 대기 에어로졸에 대한 비율이 높게 나타났다. 특히, 중국 동부에서 황해, 한반도, 동해에 이르는 광역적 지역에 AOD값이 높게 분포했다. 인위적 오염입자의 사례는 FW가 평균 0.63±0.16로 모래폭풍의 이동 사례의 0.52±0.13 보다 높은 값을 보였다. 이는 대기 에어로졸에 대한 인위적 미세 오염 입자의 기여도가 클 수 있음을 제시하고 있다.

        This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of solid particles as a stabilizing agent instead of surfactant for preparing emulsions in the cosmetics. The type of emulsions stabilized by solid particles was dependent on wettability of the particles for water and oil. The optimal conditions of emulsions stabilized by solid particles were determined with ratio of water and oil phase, polarity of oils and amount of stabilizers. In the foundation appling the optimal condition of emulsions stabilized by solid particles without surfactant, the stable emulsion type foundation was successfully prepared. As a result, this work indicates that emulsions stabilized by solid particles can be applied to make-up cosmetics.

        Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is associated with porcine circovirus diseases (PCVD), of which postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome is considered to cause considerable economic losses in pig industry worldwide. As the virus-like particle (VLP) is a highly effective type of subunit vaccine and has unique advantages in terms of safety and immunogenicity, this study aimed to develop PCV2-like particles, which matched currently circulating Korean PCV2 and were applicable as vaccines. The ORF2 genes encoding PCV2 capsid protein were amplified from the PCV2 subgroup 1A/B Korean C275 isolate and the subgroup 2E C94 isolate by PCR assay with primer pair specific to PCV2 ORF2 gene, and were cloned into baculovirus transfer vector. Recombinant baculovirus was generated by cotransfection with the transfer vector and linear baculovirus DNA into the Sf9 cells, and then by plaque purification. Expression of PCV2 capsid protein was determined by the indirect immunofluorescence and Western blotting assays, and electron microscopy. By both immunological assays, PCV2 capsid antigen was detected in the Sf9 cells infected with the recombinant baculoviruses. The formation of empty virus particles, characteristic of VLP, was detected in the lysate of Sf9 cells infected with the recombinant baculoviruses by negative electron microscopy. From these results, VLPs of two genogroups of PCV2 were successfully expressed and generated in a baculovirus expression system. It is expected that the expressed VLPs of two genotypic groups can be used for control of PCV2 infection as good vaccine candidates.

        Multi shell graphite coated Ag nano particles with core/shell structure were successfully synthesized by pulsed wire evaporation (PWE) method. Ar and (10 vol.%) gases were mixed in chamber, which played a role of carrier gas and reaction gas, respectively. Graphite layers on the surface of silver nano particles were coated indiscretely. However, the graphite layers are detached, when the particles are heated up to in the air atmosphere. In contrast, the graphite coated layer was stable under Ar and atmosphere, though the core/shell structured particles were heated up to . The presence of graphite coated layer prevent agglomeration of nanoparticles during heat treatment. The dispersion stability of the carbon coated Ag nanoparticles was higher than those of pure Ag nanoparticles.
