        Light weighting is one of techniques considered importantly at designing the mechanical structure using the light weight material. This study deals with aluminum-6061 and aluminum foam which stood in the spotlight of light weight material. And the finite element method for safety evaluation has been carried out in order to prevent from the damage and fatigue fracture due to crack appearing at the mechanical structure with this material. The simulation analysis as MT(middle tension) test was carried out by using the core of aluminum foam and the material laminated with sandwich structure of Al-6061. The mechanical structure is linked together with various parts and designed as the material with hole or crack. So, MT test is one of the test methods to evaluate the fatigue fracture characteristic of material and the strength inside material with the center crack by applying the load to the part connected pin. The real material strength is thought to be evaluated through the study result of MT test analysis.

        Porous materials such as polymeric foam are widely adopted in engineering and biomedical fields. Porous materials often exhibit complex nonlinear behaviors and are sensitive to material and environmental factors including cell size and shape, amount of porosity, and temperature, which are influenced by the type of base materials, reinforcements, method of fabrication, etc. Hence, the material characteristics of porous materials such as compressive stress-strain behavior and void volume fraction according to aforementioned factors should be precisely identified. In this study, unconfined uniaxial compressive test for two types of closed-cell structure polyurethane foam, namely, 0.16 and 0.32 g/cm3 of densities were carried out. In addition, the void volume fraction of three different domains, namely, center, surface and buckling regions under various compressive strains (10%, 30 %, 50 % and 70 %) were quantitatively observed using Micro 3D Computed Tomography(micro-CT) scanning system. Based on the experimental results, the relationship between compressive strain and void volume fraction with respect to cell size, density and boundary condition were investigated.

        Fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) coated NiCrAl alloy foam is fabricated using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposition (USPD). To confirm the influence of the FTO layer on the NiCrAl alloy foam, we investigated the structural, chemical, and morphological properties and chemical resistance by using USPD to adjust the FTO coating time (12, 18, and 24 min). As a result, when an FTO layer was coated for 24 min on NiCrAl alloy foam, it was found to have an enhanced chemical resistance compared to those of the other samples. This improvement in the chemical resistance of using USPD NiAlCr alloy foam can be the result of the existence of an FTO layer, which can act as a protection layer between the NiAlCr alloy foam and the electrolyte and also the result of the increased thickness of the FTO layer, which enhances the diffusion length of the metal ion.

        The purpose of this study was conducted with senior women of ages 65 in Community Center to identify effective exercise methods for preventing falling accidents by enhancing balancing skills through aerobic and foam roller exercise programs. There were 24 subjects : 11 aerobics group and 13 foam roller group. 30 minute exercise programs were conducted against both groups 12 times 6 weeks. Various tests, including Time up and go test , Forward reach test, One-leg standing with eyes open/closed and Y-Balance were conducted prior to commencing the exercise program. Wilcoxon’s Signed-ranks test was executed to analyze the changes in balance of the aerobic and foam roller exercise group prior to and after the experiment, and Mann-Whitney test was executed to compare the difference between the two groups. The Y-Balance(post. medial) show statistically significant differences in the amount of change before and after exercise between the two groups, except for Timed up and go test, Forward reach test, YBalance( ant.), and Y-Balance(post. lateral), which did not showed statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Foam roller exercises are effective methods to enhance the balancing skills in senior women to prevent falling accidents.

        Nowadays, advanced composite material are widely used in civil & architectural structures. Analysis of foam core sandwich bridges for simple supported made by advanced composite materials is presented in this paper. For the design of advanced composite materials bridge, foam core shape is economical and profitable. Navier’s solutions are compared in this paper to verify the authenticity of Finite Difference Method. Finite Difference Method is used for analysis of the pertinent problems. In this study, reduction rate of tensile strength for E-glass fibers due to increase in size, strength reduction ratios of according to mass, stress changes according to form core height and safety ratio due to increase form core height is presented. Tasi-Wu failure strength theory are used. Strength reduction is necessary for safe design of a structures.

        실리콘 폼은 고성능 가스켓, 열 차폐, 진동 마운트 및 Enter 키 패드로 많은 산업 분야에서 난연성 소재로서 매우 유용하다. 실리콘 발포체는 실온에서 백금 촉매 및 무기필러 존재하에서 비닐기를 함유한 폴리실록산 (V-silicone) 및 수산기를 함유한 폴리실록산 (OH-silicone)과 하이드라이드를 함유 한 폴리실록산 (H-silicone)의 수소와의 수소축합반응의해 가교와 발포를 동시에 일으켜 제조하였다. 이 러한 방법은 종래의 발포와 경화를 각각 실시한 공정보다 매우 편리한 방법이다. 이 실험에 사용 된 기 능성 실리콘수지들은 1.0 meq/g의 vinyl기를 가진 점도 20 Pa-s의 V-silicone과 0.4 meq/g의 수산기를 가진 점도 50 Pa-s의 OH-silicone 및 7.5 meq/g의 하이드라이드기를 함유한 점도 0.06 Pa.s.의 H-silicone으로 구성되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 실리콘의 종류 및 함량, 촉매, 충전제 등의 변화에 따른 실리콘수지 발포체의 구조 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다.백금 촉매는 실리콘 수지에 대하여 0.5 wt%이면 충분하였다. 낮은 점도의 OH-silicone의 첨가는 초 기 발포 속도를 높이며 발포체 밀도는 감소시키지만, 낮은 점도의 V-silicone의 첨가는, 인장 강도뿐만 아니라 신율도 감소시킨다. SF-3 조건에서 얻은 실리콘수지 발포체의 밀도, 인장강도 및 신율을 각각 0.58 g/cm3, 3.51 kgf/cm2 및 176 %를 얻을 수 있었다. 본 발포 시스템에서의 알루미나 충전재 역시 실리콘수지 발포체의 기계적 특성을 향상시키는 중요한 역할을 하였다.

        현재 많은 산업에서 구조물의 온도환경 유지를 위한 단열재로 폴리우레탄 폼이 사용되며, 수명 동안 정적 및 동적의 다양 한 하중이 이에 부과된다. 폴리우레탄 폼은 고분자재료로써 다공성이며, 단열성능은 내부기공의 크기에 크게 의존한다. 또 한, 폴리우레탄 폼의 기계적 거동은 변형률 속도 및 온도에 대한 의존성이 큰 동시에 압축에 대하여 큰 비선형 연성거동을 보인다. 이러한 비선형 연성 압축거동 중에 폴리우레탄 폼은 변형률의 증가에 따라 기공율과 탄성계수의 감소를 보인다. 따 라서 본 연구에서는 상기 특성들을 포함한 폴리우레탄 폼의 변형률 속도 및 온도 의존 비선형 압축거동을 모사하기 위하여 온도 의존 손상 점소성 구성방정식이 개발되었다.

        In this study, the fracture property of the bonded structure with aluminum foam is analyzed by using the closed aluminium foam for impact absorber. DCB and TDCB specimens manufactured with the single lap joint method of mode 3 are designed by varying the thickness. The static analysis through ANSYS finite element program is carried out on the specimen model due to each thickness. Also, the static experiment is performed in order to verify the analysis result. This study aims at comparing the shear strengths of the bonded structures of DCB and TDCB made with aluminum foam and investigating the mechanical properties.

        본 연구는 배지에 따른 국화 두 품종의 발근과 정식 후 생 육에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 미스트가 5분마다 200초씩 분무되고 차광된 유리온실 벤치에서 국화 ‘Gaya Wine’과 ‘Gaya Yellow’ 삽수를 암면큐브, phenolic foam LC, phenolic foam RC, 토실이상토에 삽목하였다. 삽목 21일 후 재배실험 을 위해 발근된 삽목묘의 절반을 상업용 배지가 채워진 화분 에 정식하였다. 발근율은 두 품종 모두 모든 배지에서 100%였다. 최대근장은 ‘Gaya Wine’이 토실이상토에서 6.0cm였으며 ‘Gaya Yellow’는 phenolic foam RC에서 6.3cm였다. 발근수는 두 품종 모두 다른 처리에 비해 토실이상토에서 가장 많았다. 발근단계에서는 ‘Gaya Wine’의 경우 토실이상토에서 가장 생 육이 좋았으나, ‘Gaya Yellow’는 처리에 따라 차이가 없었다. 재배단계에서 두 품종 모두 phenolic foam 배지에서 토실이 상토에 비해 초장이 감소하거나 비슷하였고 생장량이 다소 감 소하였다. 또한 재배단계에서 화수는 두 품종 모두 토실이상 토에서 가장 많았으나, 암면과 phenolic foam RC에서는 유사 하였다. 따라서 새로 개발된 phenolic foam RC배지는 국화의 번식에 사용 가능할 뿐만 아니라 암면큐브를 대체할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

        This study was performed to improve the foaming generated in the effluent of wastewater treatment plant from March 2015 to July 2016. The main cause of foaming was air entrainment by an impinging jet and the internal accumulation by the diffusion barrier. Particularly, the foam growth was most active when there is low tide and larger discharge. To solve this problem, we experimented after installing fine mesh screen and the artificial channel device with underwater discharging outlet in the treated wastewater discharge channel and the outlet, respectively. As a result, the effects of foam reduction by devices ranged 85.0~92.0% and 70.7~85.6%, respectively. In addition, the foam and the noise were easily solved, first of all look to contribute to the prevention of complaints. Our device studies were applied to a single wastewater treatment plant. However, it is considered to be able to apply in other similar cases of domestic sewage treatment plants.

        Flower-like nickel oxide (NiO) catalysts were coated on NiCrAl alloy foam using a hydrothermal method. The structural, morphological, and chemical bonding properties of the NiO catalysts coated on the NiCrAl alloy foam were investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, Xray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, respectively. To obtain flower-like morphology of NiO catalysts on the NiCrAl alloy foam, we prepared three different levels of pH of the hydrothermal solution: pH-7.0, pH-10.0, and pH-11.5. The NiO morphology of the pH-7.0 and pH-10.0 samples exhibited a large size plate owing to the slow reaction of the hydroxide (OH−) and nickel ions (Ni+) in lower pH than pH-11.5. Flower-like NiO catalysts (~4.7 μm-6.6 μm) were formed owing to the fast reaction of OH− and Ni2+ by increased OH− concentration at high pH. Thus, the flower-like morphology of NiO catalysts on NiCrAl alloy foam depends strongly on the pH of the hydrothermal solution.

        Monolithic carbon foams with hierarchical porosity were prepared from polyurethane templates and resol precursors. Mesoporosity was achieved through the use of soft templating with surfactant Pluronic F127, and macroporosity from the polyurethane foams was retained. Conditions to obtain high porosity materials were optimized. The best materials have high specific surface areas (380 and 582 m2 g–1, respectively) and high electrical conductivity, which make them good candidates for supports in sensors. These materials showed an almost linear dependence between the potential and the pH of aqueous solutions.

        As a part of light weight, the adhesive has been applied to joint the mechanical structure. The porous material is used with aluminum foam in case of the structure bonded with only adhesive. In order to confirm the durability, it is necessary to investigate the fracture toughness at the bonded joint. So, the fracture property at joint interface of aluminum foam different from the non-porous material becomes especially important. In this study, the tapered double cantilever beams(TDCB) with the type of mode Ⅲ are manufactured with aluminum foam. The fracture toughness at the joint of the structure bonded with only a adhesive can be obtained. The static analyses are carried out and verified the results by the experiment. As the results of static analyses, the reaction forces ranged from 0.30 to 0.41 kN at all specimens are shown when the forced displacements are proceeded as much as 7 to 9 mm. As the results of analyses and experiments are compared with each other, there is a little bit of difference between these results. Through the result of this study, the mechanical properties at TDCB specimens with the type of mode Ⅲ can be understood.

        In this study, the fracture property of impact absorption is investigated using the carbon fiber composite material. And this property is compared with the carbon fiber composite material with aluminum foam. Carbon fiber composite material has the high specific strength and rigidity and the superior durability and fatigue life and light weight. On the ground of these properties, this material has been used widely at the fields of airplane, national defence industry, vehicle and the various industrial areas. Aluminum foam can also be applied at the various areas as it is the material with the superior properties. And this foam is the material which can solve the problem on the light weight of particular product. At the condition of the impact energy of 20J, the maximum loads of CFRP sandwich composite and CFRP sandwich composite with aluminum foam core are shown to be 5.7 kN and 6.5 kN respectively. In case of maximum energies, these values are shown to be 19 J and 17.5 J respectively. At the impact energy of 50 J, the maximum loads of CFRP sandwich composite and CFRP sandwich composite with aluminum foam core are shown to be 7 kN and 8.8 kN respectively. In case of maximum energies, these values are shown to be 43 J and 48 J respectively. At the impact energy of 80 J, the maximum loads of CFRP sandwich composite and CFRP sandwich composite with aluminum foam core are shown to be 9.2 kN and 11 kN respectively. In case of maximum energies, these values are shown to be 70 J and 63 J respectively. As the result of this study, the mechanical properties are investigated through the impact experiments on the composites composed of the closed aluminum foam and the carbon fiber reinforced plastic used frequently as absorbents.

        The objective of this study was to investigate the response characteristics and performance of a biofilter in the removal of ammonia, as a malodor compound. A trickle-bed type biofilter was applied for this study, and operated at the ammonia loading rate of 0.97-15.52 g/m3·h. The results of the experiment indicate that the critical loading rate of ammonia to the biofilter was 10.7 g/m3·h and the elimination capacity was 11.6 g/m3·h. The analysis of nitrogen mass balance in the reactor indicates that inlet nitrogen as gas phase was converted through the biofilter into NH4 + (41.5% by mass), NO2 - (43%), and NO3 - (15%) as the available form of nitrogen in the effluent liquid. Free ammonia concentration in the effluent liquid was estimated as being in the range from 0.14 to 2.93 mg/L (average 1.7 mg/L) during the experimental period.
