        Pure MgH2 was milled under a hydrogen atmosphere (reactive mechanical grinding, RMG). The hydrogen storage properties of the prepared samples were studied at a relatively low temperature of 423 K and were compared with those of pure Mg. The hydriding rate of the Mg was extremely low (0.0008 wt% H/min at n = 4), and the MgH2 after RMG had higher hydriding rates than that of Mg at 423 K under 12 bar H2. The initial hydriding rate of MgH2 after RMG at 423 K under 12 bar H2 was the highest (0.08 wt% H/min) at n = 2. At n = 2, the MgH2 after RMG absorbed 0.39 wt% H for 5 min, and 1.21 wt% H for 60 min at 423K under 12 bar H2. At 573 K under 12 bar H2, the MgH2 after RMG absorbed 4.86 wt% H for 5 min, and 5.52 wt% H for 60 min at n = 2. At 573 K and 423 K under 1.0 bar H2, the MgH2 after RMG and the Mg did not release hydrogen. The decrease in particle size and creation of defects by reactive mechanical grinding are believed to have led to the increase in the hydriding rate of the MgH2 after RMG at a relatively low temperature of 423 K.

        The study of grinding behavior characteristics on aluminum powders and carbon nano tubes (CNTs) has recently gained scientific interest due to their useful effect in enhancing advanced nano materials and components, which significantly improves the property of new mechatronics integrated materials and components. We performed a series of dry grinding experiments using a planetary ball mill to systematically investigate the grinding behavior during Al/CNTs nano composite fabrication. This study focused on a comparative study of the various experimental conditions at several variations of rotation speeds, grinding time and with and without CNTs. The results were monitored for the particle size distribution, median diameter, crystal structure from XRD pattern and particle morphology at a given grinding time. It was observed that pure aluminum powders agglomerated with low rotation speed and completely enhanced powder agglomeration. However, Al/CNTs composites were achieved at maximum experiment conditions (350 rpm, 60 min.) of this study by a mechanical alloy process for Al/CNTs mixed powders because the grinding behavior of Al/CNTs composite powder was affected by addition of CNTs. Indeed, the powder morphology and crystal size of the composite powders changed more by an increase of grinding time and rotation speed.

        The purpose of this paper is to provide the optimal grinding conditions of metal components of a spectacles. The main elements of grinding conditions are composed of grain size, grade, structure, grinding wheel velocity and shifting components velocity. The conditions are co- related and influenced at each other. The precision of grinding surface was controled the each grinding conditions, mutual relations and reciprocal actions. It was studied the co-relations of grinding conditions those machining time-grain size-roughness, grade-roughness, machining time-characteristics of structure- roughness, number of production-roughnessgrinding wheel velocity, number of production-shifting velocity-grinding wheel velocity. The optimal grinding working condition satisfied the demanded surface accuracy 0.5 ~ 1.5μm. Based on these results, the optimal conditions were that the grain size was 60, the grade was middle of HIJK and LMNO, wheel velocity was 25 m/sec, shifting velocity was 15 m/min.

        Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is an attractive machining technique but it requires electrically conductive ceramic materials. In this study, Alumina matrix composites reinforced with CNTs were fabricated through CNT purification, mixing, compaction and spark plasma sintering (SPS) processes. nanocomposites with the different CNT concentrations were synthesized. The mechanical and electrical characteristics of /CNTs composites were examined in order to apply the materials to the EDM process. In addition, micro-EDM using wire electrical discharge grinding (WEDG) was conducted under the various EDM parameters to investigate the machining characteristics of machined hole by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM). The results show that /CNTs 10%Vol. was more suitable than the other materials because high conductivity and large discharge energy caused violent sparks resulting in bad machining accuracy and surface quality.

        습식분쇄의 최적조건을 얻고자 부형제 종류, 농도, 습식분쇄시 rotor speed, bead size, feed rate, 분쇄회수를 달리하여 분쇄한 결과, 부형제로는 gum arabic을 사용하여 5%의 농도로 첨가할 때 가장 좋은 분쇄효과를 나타내었다. Rotor speed를 달리하여 습식분쇄한 결과, rotor speed가 증가할수록 좋은 결과를 나타내어 4,000 rpm에서 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 원료와 직접 부딪혀 분쇄를 하게 되는 bead는 0.4 mm의 크기를 사용하였을 때 가장 작은 사이즈로 분쇄되는 것으로 나타났다. 분쇄가 이루어지는 chamber내에 원료를 공급하는 비율에 따른 결과에서는 40 L/h 의 속도로 공급했을 때 가장 작은 입도분포를 보였다. 분쇄회수에 따른 영향은 횟수에 따라서는 8회 이상으로 분쇄하였을때 0.6 μm이하의 입도분포가 90% 이상으로 나타나 10회를 분쇄하였을때 가장 좋은 효과를 나타내었다. 연속운전과 비연속운전의 비교에서는 연속운전이 더 효율적이었으며 부형제 종류에 따른 영향은 gum arabic을 첨가하여 분쇄하였을때 가장 우수한 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 적절한 농도와 종류의 부형제 사용과 rotor speed, bead size, feed rate, 용매와의 혼합비의 최적공정을 수립한 습식분쇄기술로 초미세액상칼슘의 제조가 가능하였고, 습식분쇄기술을 식품가공기술로 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 확보하였다.

        A visible-light photoactive photocatalyst was synthesized successfully by means of cogrinding of anatase- in ambient, followed by heat-treatment at in air environment. In general, it is well known that the grinding-operation induces phase transformation of a- to rutile . This study investigates the influence of the amount of gas on the phase transformation rate of a- and enhancement of visible-light photocatalytic activity, and also examines the relation between the photocatalytic activity and the period of grinding time. The phase transformation rate of a- to rutile is retarded with the amount of NH3 injected. And the visible-light photocatalytic activity of samples, was more closely related to the period of grinding time than amount injected, which means that the doping amount of nitrogen into more effective to mechanical energy than amount injected. XRD, XPS, FT-IR, UV-vis, Specific surface area (SSA), NOx decomposition techniques are employed to verify above results more clearly.

        This study was conducted to beneficiation of magnesite by dry grinding and air classification. The raw ore was ground in a ball mill and pin mill controlled with grinding time and linear velocity of grinding media and fractionated in an air classifier. Pin mill is more efficient than the ball mill for liberation. As a result, the MgO grade of concentrate was 47.1% with recovery of 51.51% for classified with 3,000rpm of air classifier for ground at 13,000rpm in pin mill.

        The present study is to analyze the thermoelectric properties of thermoelectric materials fabricated by the mechanical grinding process. The powders were prepared by the combination of mechanical milling and reduction treating methods using simply crushed pre-alloyed powder. The mechanical milling was carried out using the tumbler-ball mill and planetary ball mill. The tumbler-ball milling had an effect on the carrier mobility rather than the carrier concentration, whereas, the latter on the carrier concentration. The specific electric resistivity and Seebeck coefficient decreased with increasing the reduction-heat-treatment time. The thermal conductivity continuously increased with increasing the reduction-heat-treatment time. The figure of merit of the sintered body prepared by the mechanical grinding process showed higher value than one of the sintered body of the simply crushed powder.

        The sintered parts are mainly used for automobile industry, and a part of air conditioners. In automobile industry, the application range of sintered parts is very broad and use for a driving and a lubricating system. And air conditioner uses them for compressor. Grinding of compressor and pump parts is very difficult these days, because these parts use High hardness materials and require high precision grinding. Tool life has to be extended to decrease production cost. We analyzed processing mechanism and developed new grinding wheels for Double Disk Grinding. And, we introduce new truing technology that improved tool-life and precision.

        현재 도로분야에서 콘크리트 포장의 양적증가와 공용연수 증가로 콘크리트 포장의 손상에 따른 유지보수문제가 크게 부각되기 시작했다. 국내에서 적용되고 있는 콘크리트 포장 유지보수는 통상 손상된 부위의 부분보수후 아스팔트 덧씌우기 공법을 일괄적으로 적용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 콘크리트 포장의 예방적 유지관리공법인 다이아몬드 그라인딩 공법에 대한 적용기준 평탄성, 미끄럼저항성, 소음, 경제성, 포장의 수명연장등 이론적인 연구를 수행하고, 이를 바탕으로 시험시공을 실시하여 초기공용성에 대한 측정을 실시하였다. 종단평탄성측정은 ARAN의 차륜부 좌우에 별도의 평탄성 측정센서를 부착 자동측정차량을 통해 시공전 후의 평탄성을 측정하였다. 미끄럼저항성은 SN기준값으로 분류하여 다이아몬드 그라인딩 시공전 후의 차로별 미끄럼 저항값을 측정하였다. 소음측정은 시공구간과 일반구간, 차종, 속도를 변수로 선정하여 소음발생정도를 측정하였고, 시공전 후의 평균조도깊이를 측정하여 다이아몬드 그라인딩 공법의 평가를 실시하였다. 분석결과 종단평탄성은 시공후 6%~40%가 향상되었으며, 미끄럼저항성은 1차로에서 66%, 2차로에서 37%의 증진효과가 있었다. 소음은 다이아몬드 그라인딩 구간에서 평균 3.4dB의 소음감소 효과가 나타났으며, 평균조도 깊이는 79%의 깊이 항상 효과를 보였다. 그러므로, 향후 기존 콘크리트 포장의 유지보수공법으로서 다이아몬드 그라인딩 공법의 국내적용이 적정하다고 판단된다.

        Stainless steel sludge is generated as a waste in the grinding process, and the possibility of recycling stainless steel is considered here. In this study, we considered the possibility of using the stainless steel sludge as metal powder for MIM or raw material for metal foam. For the MIM process, the metal powder will need some improvement, and flotation and spheroidizing processes of the sludge are necessary. For fabrication of the metal foam, untreated sludge can be used, and steel foam about 90% porosity is produced.
