Background: If the weakness of the knee muscles persists and there is pain at the same time, lumbar mobilization can be used.
Objectives: This study investigated the immediate effect of lumbar joint mobilization on postural sway and knee pain in elite volleyball players.
Design: Randomized controlled trial.
Methods: Twelve male elite volleyball players were recruited for this study. Lumbar joint mobilization was performed in all study subjects. Evaluation items were static and dynamic balance and knee pain change. All evaluations were made immediately after the intervention. Results: C90 area, trace length, and STD Y deviation in the open static balance were significantly decreased after intervention (P<.05). C90 area, trace length, Velocity, STD X deviation, and STD Y deviation in static balance with closed eyes decreased significantly after intervention (P<.05). In dynamic balance, the left and right side. COPs were significantly increased. Pain significantly decreased after intervention (P<.05).
Conclusion: This study found that lumbar joint mobilization is an effective method for improving postural sway and knee pain in elite volleyball players.
본 연구는 전화코칭을 병행한 운동프로그램이 지역사회 거주 독거노인의 균형능력, 악력 및 우 울에 미치는 효과를 조사하기 위한 단일집단 사전사후 원시실험연구이다. 연구대상자는 경기도 S시에 위치 한 노인복지관에 등록된 독거노인 20명이 참여하였으며, 자료수집기간은 2021년 7월 03일부터 2021년 10 월 14일까지 총 12회기 프로그램을 시행하였다. 프로그램 전후에 대상자 가정에 직접 방문하여 4단계 균형 검사, 근력검사, 악력 및 우울을 측정하였다. 중재 프로그램은 탄력밴드와 악력볼을 이용하여 구성하였으며 매주 전화코칭 중재를 제공하였다. 연구결과, 전화코칭을 병행한 운동 프로그램은 대상자의 4단계 균형기 능(3단계)(t=-2.37, p=.029), 4단계 균형기능(4단계)(t=-2.46, p=.024), 우측 악력(t=-2.18, p=.042), 우울 (t=2.82, p<.001)에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 전화코칭을 병행한 운 동프로그램은 독거노인의 균형능력, 악력 향상 및 우울 감소를 위한 간호중재로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기 대된다.
Background: During postural control, older adults are more dependent on proprioception than are young adults. Ankle proprioception, which plays an important role in maintaining postural balance, decreases with age. Published studies are insufficient to establish a significant age difference in postural sway resulting from the known age-related decrease in ankle proprioception and do not examine various detailed test conditions.
Objects: The present study aimed to compare ankle proprioception between older and younger groups along dimensions of position vs. force proprioception and dorsiflexion vs. plantarflexion. The present study also aimed to compare postural sway between young and older women during quiet standing under two sensory conditions.
Methods: We recruited seven young women aged 21–24 and seven older women aged 60–63. Ankle proprioception was assessed as the accuracy of the joint position sense (JPS) and the force sense (FS). Postural sway was assessed using center-of-pressure measurements recorded during quiet standing under two sensory positions: eyes open and eyes closed with head tilted back.
Results: Older women had lower JPS in dorsiflexion and lower FS in plantarflexion than did younger women. We found no significant age differences in JPS in plantarflexion or in FS in dorsiflexion. We observed a main effect of group on postural sway in two sway parameters out of three. We observed significant differences in JPS with dorsiflexion, and in FS with plantarflexion. Conclusion: Proprioception for ankle plantar flexor decreased more significantly with aging than did that for ankle dorsiflexor, accounting for the impaired postural balance observed in older women.
본 연구는 S시 N구 소재의 T의원에 내원환자 중 경추 단순방사선촬영(X-ray) 후 Cobb’s angle 35°이하 또는 Jochumsen’s depth 3mm이하로 경추후만곡이 나타나고 자세 불균형이 있는 참가자 12명을 대상으로 선정하여 기능교정이 경추 만곡도와 자세균형에 미치는 효과를 분석 하고자 실시하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 단일군 전후 실험 설계(one group pre test-post test design)로 연구 참가자에게 주 2회 20분씩 기능교정 치료를 8주간 실시하였다. 사전조사로 치료 전 상담과 경추부 Lateral view X-ray 촬영과 Exbody 720 체형분석기를 이용하여 신체의 우측면을 촬영을 하였다. 사후조사는 기능교정 치료 후 Lateral view X-ray촬영과 Exbody 720 체형분석기 이용하여 신체의 우측면을 동일하게 촬영을 하였다. 각각 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 실증분석을 통하여 기능교정 치료 후에 경추후만곡 및 자세균형이 개선되는 결과를 얻어, 경추후만곡과 자세균형에 대한 기능교정 치료가 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 기능교정 치료가 병적 장애의 물리치료 및 삶의 질 향상에 기여하여 현대인의 신체적 균형을 이루어 2차적인 질병으로 진행되지 않도록 중재적 역할을 하여 일상생활에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
Background:Children with cerebral palsy (CP) have impaired postural control, but critically require the control of stability. Consequently, therapeutic interventions for enhancing postural control in children with CP have undergone extensive research. One intervention is sensorimotor training (SMT) using a Flexi-bar, but this has not previously been studied with respect to targeting trunk control in children with CP.Objects:This study was conducted to determine the effect of SMT using a Flexi-bar on postural balance and gait performance in children with CP.Methods:Three children with ambulatory spastic diplegia (SD) participated in the SMT program by using a Flexi-bar for forty minutes per day, three times a week, for six weeks. Outcome variables included the pediatric balance scale (PBS), trunk control movement scale (TCMS), 10 meter walking test (10MWT), and 3-dimensional movement coordination measurement.Results:The SMT provided no statistically significant improvement in PBS, TCMS, 10MWT, or 3-dimensional movement coordination measurement. However, positive changes were observed in individual outcomes, as balance and trunk control movement were improved.Conclusion:SMT using a Flexi-bar may be considered by clinicians as a potential intervention for increasing postural balance and performance in children with SD. Future studies are necessary to confirm the efficacy of Flexi-bar exercise in improving the functional activity of subjects with SD.
This study was conducted to identify how a flexi-bar exercise influences body alignment and balance in adults who have asymmetry in their right or left body. In total, 20 participants were separated into the experimental group and the comparison group. Those in the experimental group participated in a flexi-bar exercise for 6 weeks and based on the coronal plane before and after exercise, their body alignment and balance were measured behind the body. The result was those who had participated in a flexi-bar exercise significantly improved their angle of acromion on both sides, the difference in the angle and height of the posterior superior iliac spine on both sides(p<.05), and the balance of the center sagittal plane(p<.05). Through this study, it could be said that participating in a flexi-bar exercise would improve postural alignment and balance of the shoulder and pelvis in adults with asymmetric posture.
The purpose of this study was to determine the reliability and validity of the postural balance program which uses the movement accelerating field principles of posture balance training and evaluation equipment and smartphone movement accelerometer program (SMAP) in healthy young adults. A total of 34 people were appointed as the subject among the healthy young adults. By using Biodex stability system (BSS) and SMAP on the subject, the posture balance capability was evaluated. For the test-retest reliability, SMAP showed the intra-class correlation (ICC: .62~.91) and standard error measurement (SEM: .01~.08). BSS showed the moderate to high reliability of ICC (.88~.93) and SEM (.02~.20). In the reliability of inter-rater, ICC (.59~.73) as to SMAP, showed the reliability of moderate in eyes open stability all (EOSA), eyes open stability anterior posterior (EOSAP), eyes open stability medial lateral (EOSML) and eyes open dinamic all (EODA), eyes open danamic anterior posterior (EODAP), and eyes open danamic medial lateral (EODML). However, ICC showed reliability which was as low as .59 less than in other movements. In addition, BSS showed the reliability of high as ICC (.70~.75). It showed reliability which was as low as ICC (.59 less than) in other movements. In correlation to the balance by attitudes between SMAP and BSS, EOSML (r=.62), EODA (r=.75), EODML (r=.72), ECDAP (r=.64), and ECDML (r=.69) shown differ significantly (p<.05). However, the correlation noted in other movements did not differ significantly. Therefore, SMAP and BSS can be usefully used in the posture balance assessment of the static and dynamic condition with eyes opened and closed.
This study aims to examine the effects of taping of the ankle joint on the static and dynamic balance and gait ability of stroke patients. Twenty-six stroke patients receiving physical therapy at a hospital located in Gyeonggi-do were divided equally into a group that had taping in physical therapy and an ordinary physical therapy group. They exercised for 30 minutes each, 3 times per week for 8 weeks from June to August 2011. Romberg’s eye open and eye closed tests, limits of stability(LOS), forward and back test, timed up and go test(TUG) and 10-meter gait velocity test were performed to evaluate static balance, dynamic balance, and gait ability, respectively, prior to and 8 weeks after the intervention. Differences within each group in relation to the lapse of time were compared by a paired t-test. Differences between the two groups were compared by an independent t-test. Regarding comparison of differences within each group, all tests resulted in significant changes in both groups after the intervention (p<.05). Comparison of differences between the two groups showed that taping in the physical therapy group had significantly better test results than the ordinary physical therapy group in all measured items(p<.05). The after effects of ankle taping on stroke patients are more efficient and effective than ordinary physical therapy alone in improving balance and gait ability.
목적 : 뇌졸중 환자를 대상으로 4점 척도인 뇌졸중 자세 평가 척도(Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke: PASS) 와 5점 척도인 버그 균형 척도(Berg Balance Scale, BBS)를 3점 척도로 단순화시켜 원본 PASS, BBS와 특성을 비교하고 신뢰도 및 타당도를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 만성뇌졸중 환자 62명을 대상으로 PASS(0-1-2-3)는 PASS-3Level(0-1.5-3)로 BBS( 0-1-2- 3-4)는 BBS-3Level(0-2-4)로 기록하여 비교하였다. PASS-3L과 BBS-3L 평가의 측정자내·측정자간 신 뢰도는 급간내 상관계수를(ICC3,1), 절대적 신뢰도는 표준 오차 측정(Standard Error Measurement: SEM)과 최 저 실제 차이(Small Reference Differences: SRD)를 이용하였고, 내적 일치도를 알아보기 위하여 Cronbach’s α 계수를 구하였다. PASS(PASS-3L), BBS(BBS-3L)의 동시 타당도와 수정된 바델 지수(Modified Barthel Index, MBI)와 퓨글 마이어 운동(Fugl Meyer-Motor: FM-M)과의 수렴 타당도를 알아보기 위하여 피어슨 상관 분석을 하였다. 결과 : PASS-3L과 BBS-3L의 검사 재검사 신뢰도는 각각 ICC = .96, .96, 측정자간 신뢰도는 각각 ICC = .95, .94이었다. PASS-3L과 BBS-3L의 SEM은 각각 .99, 1.55, SRD는 1.74, 4.30, Cronbach's α계수는 .77, .85로 신뢰도가 높게 나타났다. PASS-3L의 동시 타당도는 PASS(r=.93), BBS(r=.75), BBS-3L(r=.80)과 유의한 관 련이 있었고, BBS-3L은 PASS(r=.80)와 BBS(r=.93)와 유의한 상관관계가 있었다(p<.01). PASS-3L의 수렴 타당도는 MBI(r=.60), FM-M(r=.42)과 유의한 관련이 있었고, BBS-3L은 MBI(r=.79), FM-M(r=.48)와 유 의한 상관관계가 있었다(p<.01). 결론 : 2개의 단순화된 PASS-3L과 BBS-3L은 PASS, BBS와 비교하여 매우 높은 신뢰도와 타당도를 보여 뇌졸 중 환자의 균형을 평가하는데 적합하다고 할 수 있다.
The present study was aimed at investigating the postural control ability of volleyball players with functional ankle instability. The subjects were 26 male volleyball players were divided into 2 groups (13 subjects with functional ankle instability and 13 subjects with ankle stability) who could evaluate Questionnaire. All the male participants were tested by a Balance Master System. This study were to measure of static balance ability, dynamic balance ability, motor function the difference between functional ankle instability group and control group. Ankle instability group and stable group in postural sway (°/sec) on film surface with eye closed in modified clinical test sensory interaction on balance, and left unilateral stance with eye opened and closed were significantly different (p<.05). The ankle instability group and stable group in limit of stability were significantly different (p<.05). The ankle instability group and stable group in left/right rhythmic weight shirt were significantly different (p<.05). The ankle instability group and stable group in turn time (sec) & turn sway (°) during step/quick turn and end sway (°/sec) in tandem walk were significantly different (p<.05). This study showed that volleyball players with functional ankle in stability were effected postural control ability by static balance & dynamic balance ability. Further study is needed to measure various athletic with functional ankle instability for clinical application.
