This study investigated physical properties of high intelligent concrete(HIC) using the Garnet and SMA(Shape Memory Alloys) under actuated by SMA wires. After activation of the SMA, its appearance, failure mode, ductility, crack width and other physical properties of concrete, it was mixed with nylon, polypropylene. The SMA-NP specimen showed the most excellent capacity among the tested HIC.

The purpose of this experimental research is to investigate the effect of types of lathe scrap on the characteristics of lathe scrap reinforced cementitious composites (LSRCCs). For this purpose, three types of lathe scraps were collected from processing plants of metal, and then LSRCCs containing these were made for 2mm width and 40mm length. As a result, it was observed from the test results that the compressive and flexural strength of LSRCCs were larger than these of plain mortar and effect of types of lathe scrap on the characteristics of LSRCCs were slightly large.

In this study, the heat insulating performance increase the indoor temperature of the building is applied to the concrete was compared with plain concrete. As a result, the indoor surface at the outside temperature of 4.69∼7.32 ℃ temperature conditions showed a difference of up to 1.10 ℃, the lowest 0.54 ℃, indoor temperature is up to 0.95 ℃, 0.63 ℃ lower results showed a minimum.

Shock wave caused by the high-velocity impact causing the tensile strain and stress on the rear side. When the tensile strain and stress exceeds the tensile strength of the concrete, scabbing and perforation were occurred. The strain on the rear side was reduced due to improvement of the tensile strength by fiber reinforcement.

Coefficient of friction of PTFE is used as a typical friction material of friction-type seismic isolation devices. Coefficient of friction of PTFE is decreased with increasing the contact stress, and increased with increasing the horizontal movement speed. To understand the caracteristics of new friction material, using EDS, the seismic isolation device, applying new friction material, studying the changes in the friction coefficient with various shear characteristics.

In this study, high strength concrete with satuated artificial lightweight aggregate(SLWA) produced by domestic for reducing autogenous shrinkage, which provides additional water to the hydratin cement particles, is applied to be the internal curing. This paper presents the test result of basic property of SLWA and autogenous shrinkage with volumes of SLWA.

In this study, the compressive behavior of 55% HVFA(High Volume Fly Ash) concrete was performed by experiment with 6 RC columns. From the test results, it was shown that yield load of tied steel, yield load of longitudinal steel and ultimate loads are produced sequently. And there was no differences between ordinay concrete and HVFA concrete.

In the concrete construction industry, a majority of the embodied energy and cost of concrete is due to the portland cement. Although the use of industrial by-products such as fly ash has been widely spreaded, the standard specification and certification for eco-friendly concrete is not firmly established in this country. This paper propose a specification for the quality assurance and certification system of eco-friendly concrete especially HVFA(High Volume Fly Ash) concrete.

The purpose of this experimental research is to evaluate the mechanical properties of high performance concrete using amorphous steel fiber and organic fiber. For this purpose, the hybrid fiber reinforced concrete containing amorphous steel fiber(ASF) and polyamide(PA) fiber were made according to their total volume fraction of 0.5% for water-binder ratio of 33%, and then the characteristics such as the workability, compressive strength, and direct tension strength of those were evaluated. It was observed from the test results that the workability and compressive strength was decreased with increasing ASF and decreasing PA fiber. but the direct tension strength was on the whole increased with increasing ASF and decreasing PA fiber.

An ordinary perforated drainpipe is often clogged with fines due to soil erosion or breakage of rock mass. Three different types of fiber drainpipes were proposed and tested for drainage capacity using laboratory soil box. A perforated drainpipe with inner fiber layer showed a good performance of drainage and selected for field testing. From the field testing, a perforated drainpipe with inner fiber layer drained well compared to an ordinary perforated drainpipe.

This paper showed evaluations of mechanical performances of High-Performance Fiber Composite Mortar which made by cement free binders with Alkali-activated slag and PVA fibers with the volume fraction of 1~1.5%. Specimens were subjected to compressive, tensile and shear strength test and the test results showed their high performance mechanical characteristics.

The evolution of the electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) of piezoelectricity (PZT) sensor was investigated to determine the setting times of fiber reinforced cementitious materials in this study. Penetration resistance test was also conducted to validate the EMI sensing technique. As a result, the setting times of fiber reinforced cementitious materials can be effectively monitored through the EMI sensing technique using an embedded PZT sensor.

Converter slag contains free-CaO and free-MgO that has a problem causing a breakdown in the water and reaction. To solve this problem, it was treated the aging process that is inserting a converter slag aggregate in water before placing concrete. As a result, aging process was very effective in the compressive strength of the concrete.

Life expectancy of bridges may be reduced mainly due to leakage, freeze-and-thaw, de-icing chemicals, and traffic volumes, which results in early deteriorations. This study suggests the bridge management strategies to extend the service life.
