        In this study, hydrothermal carbonization is used to recover energy from sludge. This hydrothermal carbonization is a feasible sustainable energy conversion technology to produce biofuel for renewable energy. The experiments were conducted at 170oC up to 220oC for a 30-min holding period to determine the optimum conditions for hydrothermal carbonization in a lab-scale reactor to apply to a scale-up reactor (1 ton/day). The biochars from sludge were assessed in terms of dewaterability characteristics and fuel properties. The results showed that the optimum temperature of labscale hydrothermal carbonization was 190oC. The 1 ton/day hydrothermal carbonization pilot plant operated at 190oC. The biochar had higher energy content but the char yield sharply decreased. Therefore, an energy of about 49% could effectively be converted from sludge biomass. This sludge from municipal wastewater treatment is a potential energy resource because sludge is composed of organic substances.

        In the present study, we investigated the plant growth characteristics and biological activity of four asparagus cultivars grown using two cultural methods and tested the possibility of domestic open field. The number of shoots, buds, roots, shoot and root fresh and dry weights, and total dry weight of the four asparagus cultivars grown in a plastic house were higher than those of the same cultivars grown in an open field. Of the cultivars grown in the open field, Jersey Giant had greater shoot number than the other cultivars. In plastic house cultivation, the number of buds in Jersey Supreme was greater than the other cultivars. The total flavonoid content of the Jersey Giant was greater than the other cultivars, but cultural method was unaffected. The total polyphenol contents in asparagus cultivars grown in the plastic house were higher than those of cultivars grown in the open field. The total polyphenol content of the Jersey Giant grown the plastic house was significantly higher than those of other cultivars. Antioxidant activity such as catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POX) did not differ significantly with cultural methods and among the cultivars. Ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity of asparagus cultivars grown in the open field was higher than that of cultivars grown in the greenhouse; the highest APX activity was detected in UC157. Thus, greenhouse cultivation is expected to improve plant growth characteristics and biological activities of asparagus cultivars; each cultural method should be considered when selecting a suitable cultivar for high yield and high bioactive compound content.

        Background: In the herbal medicine market, Angelica gigas, Angelica sinensis, and Angelica acutiloba are all called "Danggui" and used confusingly. We aimed to assess the genetic diversity and relationships among 14 Angelica species collected from different global seed companies. Toward this aim we developed DNA markers to differentiate the Angelica species. Methods and Results: A total of 14 Angelica species, A. gigas, A. acutiloba, A. sinensis, A. pachycarpa, A. hendersonii, A. arguta, A. keiskei, A. atropurpurea, A. dahurica, A. genuflexa, A. tenuissima, A. archangelica, A. taiwaniana, and A. hispanica were collected. The genetic diversity of all 14 species was analyzed by using five chloroplast DNA-based simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers and employing the DNA fragment analysis method. Each primer amplified 3 - 12 bands, with an average of 6.6 bands. Based on the genetic diversity analysis, these species were classified into specific species groups. The cluster dendrogram showed that the similarity coefficients ranged from 0.77 to 1.00. Conclusions: These findings could be used for further research on cultivar development by using molecular breeding techniques and for conservation of the genetic diversity of Angelica species. The analysis of polymorphic SSRs could provide an important experimental tool for examining a range of issues in plant genetics.

        Urban Heat Island has become a serious problem in urban area. Tree is considered as effective measure for mitigating urban heat. The purpose of this study is reviewing urban heat island mitigation effect of tree, focusing on evaluation indices related to temperature reduction. We selected 49 previous studies and classified studies considering type of site and variables related to mitigate urban heat. Studies were classified as tree, vegetation, green roof/wall and green area. Variables of each group were categorized as space, function, individual and environment variables. Each study site showed different mitigation effects and considered different variables. Therefore, plans or designs for green area in urban area should consider differences among sites and use integrated evaluation indices including humidity and wind speed for mitigating urban heat.

        The objective of this study is to introduce a program for environmental conservation in environment-friendly agriculture. For this, we first analyze a performance condition of environment-friendly agricultural districts and zones. And then we survey difficulties on implementation and main points for spread of environmentfriendly agriculture. Finally we forecast an effectiveness and realizability on program for environmental conservation in environment-friendly agriculture. As a result, it is necessary to plan policies on qualitative as well as quantitative growth in environment-friendly agriculture. The results of this study will be meaningful to make policies on spread of environment-friendly agriculture.

        In this paper, the tensile stiffness and deformation of laminated rubber bearing is investigated based on the research and test results. ISO 22762 and JIS K 6410 are not providing the tensile characteristics of rubber bearings. Besides, the tensile stiffness and deformation models are proposed by several researchers by quite different methods. Proper models are recommended for nonlinear deformation state in order to propose the tensile model and build up base data.

        Steel is a common structural material that is used for bridges, buildings, railroad tracks, wind towers, offshore platforms, and many other applications. Steel naturally corrodes in different atmospheric environments, which results in costs for corrosion protection, prevention and maintenance. The corrosion on steel elements is identified by optical examination, which does not provide information on the material characteristics. Studies have shown that Raman spectroscopy can identify the corrosion products of steel and differentiate between iron oxides and hydroxides. The purpose of this experiment is to validate the use of Raman spectroscopy in accurately identifying corrosion material on steel without a protective coating.

        The research was introduced a newly atypical beam with ultra-high strength concrete. Ultra high strength concrete has compressive strengths up to 200MPa, tensile strengths up to 20 MPa and tensile strain up to 5%. A series of the developed beams was designed an irregular cross-section by precast and form-work technologies. They evaluated the flexural performance by experiment and analysis comparing with conventional reinforced concrete beams.

        These days, inexpensive and high efficiency UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) of disaster prevention and spatial information has been given more attention. But studies about test of accuracy of UAV were not enough despite high interest. UAV technology has been developed for military purposes, but in recent years, it has been used for various purposes in different forms in the private sector as spread to the public sector. However, since the study applying the UAV technologies to the inspection and maintenance of structures are insufficient so far, this study suggests an application method of UAV technology for inspection and investigation of infrastructure facilities. If the UAV technology is used in inspection and investigation of infrastructure facilities, it will be able to conduct a safety check and inspect high areas and narrow passages, which are difficult or impossible to access by manpower, and further improve the safety of the structure.

        The Hongseong-Gun school food service center (Hongseong SFSC) that is managed directly by local government is supplying local environmentally friendly foods from 2014. This study aimed to analyze a case on Hongseong SFSC and to propose improving directions. Hongseong SFSC showed higher supply ratio (67.4%) of local environmentally friendly foods compared to the other centers. The operation effects of this center are reliably price of farmer’s products, increased consumption of local agri-products, school food confidence, and so on. But there are many problems on this operation. Improvement directions of SFSC for local food system are as follows: Firstly, the supply range of foodstuffs is needed to establish quality standards to increase foodstuffs quality. Secondly, guidelines for creating a fair commission fee structure should be established. Thirdly, the contract issues between the center and schools need to be resolved by governance system. Fourthly, local environmentally friendly agricultural cultivation and cropping systems are required to establish reliably supply of farmer’s products.

        The objective of this study is to propose a necessity of alternative certification for low-pesticide agricultural products (LPAP). For this, we conduct a survey consumer and distributor. Most of consumer does not aware an abolition of LPAP. After abolition, they will purchase pesticide-free, organic, conventional, GAP certificated in order. Both consumer and distributor need an alternative certification of LPAP and have willingness-to-purchase. However, it is necessary to make up for the reliability and objectivity on the alternative and to manage a poor certification. The results of this study is meaningful to distribution and consumption of environment- friendly agricultural products.

        본 연구는 유치원 교사의 창의적 수업 능력에 대한 중요도 인식 및 실행 정도가 어떠한지와 교사 경력과 학력, 설립유형에 따라 어떤 차이가 있는지 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 유치 원 교사들을 대상으로 창의적 수업 능력에 대한 중요도 인식 및 실행 정도에 대해서 설문조사 하고 F(t)분석을 통해 변인들 간의 차이를 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 유치원 교사들은 창의적 수업 능력에 대한 중요도를 대체로 높게 인식하였고, 교사의 경력과 학력, 설립유형별로 통계적 으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 유치원 교사들은 창의적 수업 능력에 대한 실행 정도가 보통 이상이었고, 교사의 경력과 학력, 유치원 설립유형에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나 타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 유치원 현장에서 창의적 수업을 실행하기 위한 방안을 제안하였다.
