        Effect of perilla oil on the fatty acid composition, ACAT and HMG-CoA reductase in the liver microsomes, or cholesterol and protein in serum of rabbit were examined. 1. The content of total protein in serum was almost same amount of both groups, but α1-globulin and r-globuline were incresed or β-globulin was decresed compared with control. 2. The content of high density lipoprotein incresed, and the content of low density lipoprotein decresed in lipoprotein. 3. Total cholesterol and triglyceride were decresed, and the content of phospholipid was incresed. 4. Perilla oil did not effect for changing blood glucose and Na+, K+ electrolytes. 5. Perilla oil did not effect for changing serum GOT and GPT in rabbit. 6. The activity of ACAT decresed and the activity of HMG-CoA reductase incresed. The activity of ACAT and HMG-CoA reductase in liver microsomes were reciprocal. 7. There were arachidonic acid 20:4, eicosapentaenoic acid 20:5, and docosahexaenoic acid 22:6 in the liver microsomes of rabbits. These highly polyunsaturated fatty acids were convented from linolenic acid 18:3 n-3.

        A series of four sodium α-sulfo fatty vinyl ester oligomers including sodium α-sulfo lauric acid vinyl ester oligomer, sodium α-sulfo myristic acid vinyl ester oligomer, sodium α-sulfo palmitic acid vinyl ester oligomer and sodium α-sulfo stearic acid vinyl ester oligomer were examined for surface activities such as surface tension, foaming power, foam stability, emulsifying power, dispersion effect, solubilization of orange OT. The critical micelle concentration(CMC) was also evaluated. Consequently, these sodium α-sulfo fatty acid vinyl ester oligomers were shown to have a good cohesive power and dispersion effect.

        Four fatty acid vinyl esters were synthesized by transesterification between vinyl acetate and lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, respectively. Fatty acid vinyl ester oligomers were prepared from polymerization of four fatty acid vinyl esters in the presence of potassium persulfate in methanol. The α-sulfonation of these four fatty acid vinyl ester oligomer were carried by direct addition of sulfur trioxide. Especially, molecular weights of sodium α-sulfo fatty acid vinyl ester oligomers were measured by boiling point method.

        In order to investigate the amino acid and fatty acid content in Thuja biotae water extract treated with alkaline, it was performed. There are 16 kinds of different amino acid and 20 kinds of different fatty acid in Thuja biotae water extract. An aspartic acid was contained 52% and proline was contained 10%, particulary, r-aminobutyric acid was analysed. Essential fatty acids; linoleic acid, linolenic acid and arachidonic acid were cotained a lot amount. There are 11 different unknown materials which were identified by GC-MS spectrum, such as N-[(4α,5α)-cholestan-4-yl]-acetamide; 22,26-Epithio-furost-5-en-3-ol; 2-Methyl-6-(4-methyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)-4-heptanone; 3,12,14-Tris(acetyloxy)-pregnane-15,20-dione;22-Methyl-26-thio-furost-5-en-3-ol; 7-Ethenyl-1,2,3,4,4a,4b,5,6,7,9,10,10a-dodecahydro-1,4a,7-trimethyl-1-phenanthrene carboxyaldehyde; Methoxyiminopro-panedioic acid; 13-Methyl-13-β-Methyl-13-vinyl-dodecaarp-7-en-3-3-ol; 22-Methyl-26-thio-furost-6-methyl-3-ol; 5α-Androstane-2,11-dione; 9-Methyl-heptadecanoic acid.

        Contents of total lipids, neutral lipids, glycolipids and phospholipids of seed oils of 16 species of the Labiatae family were determined and their fatty acid compositions were analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography. The results were summarized as follows. 1) Lipid contents of seeds were shown to be 40.6% in Perilla frutescens Britton var. japonica, 32.2% in P. frutescens britton var. acuta, 31.9% in lsodon japonicus, 32.7% in l. inflexus, 48.3% in l. serra, 35.1% in Mosls dianthera, 38.2% in M. punctulata, 33.4% in Nepeta cataria, 26.3% in Agastache rugosa, 30.9% in Eisholtzia ciliata, 18.9% in Salvia splendens, 23.9% in Lycopus maackianus, 49.5% in Clinopodium chinense var. parviflorum, 30.9% in Ametystea caerulea, 33.1% in Leonurus sibircus and 34.3% in Scutellaria basicalensis. 2) Contents of neutral lipids, glycolipids and phospholipids from the seed oils amounted to 98.6%, 0.7%, 0.8% in P. frutescens Britton var. japonica; 95.5%, 1.3%, 3.1% in P. frutescens Britton var. acuta; 95.1%, 1.8%, 3.1% in l. japoincus; 91.4%, 3.5%, 5.1% in l. inflexus; 96.8%, 0.7%, 2.5% in l, serra; 96.0%, 1.8%, 2.2% in Mosla dianthera; 94.7%, 2.0%, 3.3% in M. punctulata; 90.1%, 2.4%, 7.5% in Nepeta cataria; 90.1%, 3.4%, 6.5% in Agastache rugosa; 86.3%, 3.3%, 10.4% in Elsholtzia ciliata; 94.3%, 1.5%, 4.3% in Salvia splendens; 87.2%, 2.9%, 9.0% in Lycopus maackianus; 87.0%, 1.5%, 11.5% in Clinopodium chinense var. parviflorum; 91.8%, 1.6%, 6.6%; 95.5%, 0.4%, 4.1% in Leonurus sibricus; 89.0%, 1.4%, 9.6% in Scutellaria baicalensis. 3) Total lipids revealed the predominace of unsaturated fatty acids (82.0-94.5%) and larger variations were found in the composition of α-linolenic acid (0.4-67.9%) and linoleic acid (11.2-82.9%). High level of α-linoenic acid was present in P. frutescens Britton var. japonica (67.9%), P. frutescens Britton var, acuta (66.0%), lsodon japonicus (65.2%), l. inflexus (59.0%), l. serra (57.3%), Mosla dianthera (60.9%), Nepeta cataria (58.3%), Agastache rugosa (58.5%) and Elsholtzia ciliata (46.2%), and followed by linoleic acid (11.2-32.1%) and oleic acid (9.3-12.2%). However, linoleic acid was the most predominant component in the total lipids of Clinopodium chinense var. parviflorum (62.4%), Ametystea caerules (82.9%), Leonurus sibricus (60.9%) and Scutellaria baicalensis (63.4%), with very small amounts of α-linolenic acid (0.4-3.1%). The total lipids of Salvia splendens, Lycopus maackianus and Mosla punctulata also contained linoleic acid of 31.3%, 48.8% and 53.4%, with a considerable amount of α-linolenic acid of 34.5% 27.0% and 16.7%. Palmitic acid was the major saturated fatty acid in all the oils investigated (4.1-14.2%). 4) Fatty acid profiles of neutral lipids bore a close resemblance to those of total lipids in all the seed oils, but different from those of glycolipids and phospholipids. Fatty acid composition pattern of glycolipids and phospholipids showed a considerably increased level of saturated fatty acids (19.0-66.8%, 17.8-35.2%) mainly composed of palmitic acid and stearic acid, and a noticeable low level of unsaturated fatty acids (41.2-80.9%, 64.7-82.1%) which was ascribed to the decrease in α-linolenic acid of high α-linolenic acid seed oils, and in linoleic acid of high linoleic seed oils, compared to that of total lipids and neutral lipids.

        Effect of initial PH on the lipid accumulation and fatty acid composition of some species of mold were investigated. The maximum lipid content content produced by Aspergillus niger var. macrosporus was 17.5% at PH 3.5, by Aspergillus fumigatus 23.5% at PH 3.5 by Penicillium spinulosum 12.0% at PH 4.0 and by Penicillium notatum 7.3% at PH 4.0. The major fatty acids were palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acid in all experimental molds. At PH from 4.5 to 6.0, the proportion of linoleic acid was increased and those of palmitic and oleic acid were decreased with rising in PH, therefore, degree of lipid unsaturation was increased in all experimental molds.

        The crude lipid contents of dried sea food products varied remarkably from 1.2 to 29.9% for dried fish products, from 2.8 to 12.3% for dried mollusk ones, and from 0.1 to 2.3% for dried seaweed ones. In fatty acid composition of dried fish products, the saturated acid was the most predominant component for dried anchovies, hair tail, Kstsuobushi, the monoenoic acid was the most predominant one for dried yellow corvenia, flat head, common carp, sea eel and conger eel. And the polyenoic acid was the most abundant one for dried cod. Allaska pollack, flounder, sole fish, ray, smelt and sardine. The major fatty acids of these dried fish products were 16:0, 16:1, 18:0, 18:1, 20:5 and 22:6. Fatty acid composition of dried mollusk products were mainly consisted of polyenoic acid, and followed by saturated acid, monoenoic aced. The major fatty acids of these products were similiar to those of dried fish products. And in case of dried seaweed products, saturated acid such as 14:0, 16:0 was the most predominant component, while polyenoic acid was abundant one in dried laver and sea mustard. The main fatty acids of dried seaweed products were 14:0, 16:0, 18:1, 20:1, 20:4, and 20:5. Judging from the results, dried sea food products were abundant of the highly unsaturated fatty acids in spite of the drying processing and storage.

        The effects of procedures for preparation of fatty acid methyl esters for gas chromatography were investigated. A quantitative comparison of four procedures for the preparation of the fatty acid methyl esters from Korean sesame seed lipids which can be representative of fatty acid ranges of Korean vegetable oils has been made. The procedures employed were BF3-methanol, HCI-methanol, sodium methoxide-methanol, and tetramethylammonium hydroxide-methanol. Twelve fatty acids ranged from 14:0 to 24:0 were identified in the lipids from Korean white and black sesame seeds. All four procedures gave similar results for the fatty acids, 16:0, 18:0, 18:1, 18:2, and 18:3 present in the range of 1~44% but only in the HCI-methanol procedure, the fatty acids, 16:1, 20:0, 22:0, 24:0 present in the range of 0.02~1% showed the lowest values. When using tetramethylammonium hydroxide-methanol procedure for determination of total fatty acid composition from white and black sesame seed lipids, unsaponifiable matters including sesamol, sesamolin and sesamin present in the seed lipids are not removed from the resulting reaction mixture. Thus the transesterification mixture is used without further treatment for injection into the gas chromatography. However, the gas chromatographic analysis of the transesterification mixture showed that the unsaponifiable matters had no effect on the fatty acid composition of the seed lipids. From the results, it appears that the BF3-methanol, sodium methoxide-methanol and tetramethylammonium hydroxide-methanol procedures can be used to prepare fatty acid methyl esters from Korean vegetable oils. Among the methods, the tetramethylammonium hydroxide-methanol procedure, which give total fatty acid composition, glyceride fatty acid composition and composition of free fatty acids present, appears to be a simple, convenient and quantitative procedure and applicable to samples containing broad ranges of fatty acids.

        정상사료내의 지질에 철분이 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 알아보기 위하여 정상사료(Common feed)와 물을 혼합한 비정상 사료내에 Vitamin E와 유리 불포화 지방산 함량을 측정한 결과 다음과 같은 성적을 얻었다. 1. 정상사료(P<.05)와 비정상사료(P<.01)내의 Vitamin E 함량은 1.75mg/g(실험 1일째) 로부터 0.25mg/g(실험 11일째)로 지속적으로 감소되었다. 2. 정상사료내의 유리 불포화 지방산 함량은 23.8mg/g(대조군)로부터 17.6mg/g(20% 철분 혼합군)로 역시 지속적으로 감소되었다(P<.01). 3. 비정상사료내의 유리 불포화 지방산 함량은 23.9mg/g(대조군)로부터 17.4mg/g(20% 철분 혼합군)로 지속적으로 감소되었다(P<.01). 4. 정상사료내의 Vitamin E와 유리 불포화 지방산 함량은 비정상사료내의 함량보다 다소 높았으나 유의차는 인정되지 않았다. 5. 정상사료와 비정상사료내의 Vitamin E와 유리불포화 지방산에 있어서 날짜 경과별 및 철분 혼합 수준별 간의 상호작용이 인정되었다.

        The composition of fatty acid and amino acid for Seong-ge-al(sea urchin) were analysed by the automatic analyser. There are two kind of samples such as raw and saited, fermented one. The results obtained are as follows. 1. In the general composition, crude protein, crude lipid and ash as 15.8%, 3.5% and 2.2%, respectively. The raw sample showed pH 5.6 value. 2. In case of amino acid, it contained 17 different kind of amino acids. Among them, a lot of glutamic acid, aspartic acid, arginine, glycine and valine were contained. 3. In case of fermentation period, threonine, histidine, lysine and arginine were increased a little bit. 4. In case of fatty acid, it contained 13 different kind of fatty acids. Among them, a lot of palmitic acid, behnic acid, linoleic acid and arachidonic acid were contained.

        쥐의 암컷에서 유리불포화지방산, 인지질, creatinine 및 prostaglandin의 혈액내 함량을 측정하여 실험 동물로써의 생리적인 기초자료를 제공하고 또한 임신일수와 분만후 경과시간에 따른 이들 성분의 변화를 관찰하여 임신과 분만에 미치는 영향에 대하여 예비정보를 제공하기 위하여 본 실험을 실시하였다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 5마리의 임신하지 않는 쥐를 대조군으로 하고 임신한 쥐 35마리를 5마리씩 7군으로 나누어 (5개의 임신군과 2개의 분만군) 100일 동안 실험을 실시하였다. 본 실험에서 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 쥐 암컷의 혈청내 유리불포화지방산 함량은 의 범위였고 각 실험군간에는 현저한 차이가 없었다. 그러나 임신21일군이 로 비교적 낮은 수준이었다. 2) 쥐 암컷의 혈청내 인지질 함량은 의 범위였고 임신21일군과 분만후 36시간군이 비교적 낮은 수준이었지만, 각 실험군 및 전체임신군과 전체분만군의 평균함량간에는 현저한 차이는 없었다. 3) 쥐 암컷의 혈청내 creatinine 함량은 의 범위였고 각 실험군간에 현저한 차이가 안정되지 않았지만, 임신21일군이 비교적 높은 수준이었다. 4) 쥐 암컷의 혈액내 prostaglandin 함량은 로써 대조군()에 비하여 임신9일(), 12일() 및 15일()군 등이 낮은 수준인데 비하여 임신18일군()부터 대조군보다 증가되기 시작하여 임신21일군()과 분만후 12시간군()까지 계속 증가하여 최고수준에 달했으며 분만후 36시간군()도 대조군에 비하여 현저하게 높은 수준이었다. 그리고 각 실험군간에는 현저한(p<0.01)차이가 안정되었고 특히 전체임신군의 평균함량이 로써 대조군에 비하여 낮았고, 전체분만군의 평균함량이 로써 대조군과 천체임신군의 평균함량보다 매우 높은 수준이었다. 5) 쥐 암컷의 혈청내 유리불포화지방산, 인지질 및 creatinine 함량은 임신일수와 분만후 경과시간에 따라 큰 영향을 받지않는 것으로 생각되지만, 임신말기와 분만후에 약간의 변화가 있었다. 6) 쥐 암컷의 혈액내 prostaglandin 함량은 분만개시에 중요한 역할을 한다고 생각된다.

        인유, 조제 분유 및 시유의 인 지방질의 지방산 조성을 가스 크로마토그래피로 분석하여 비교하였다. 조제 분유는 인유에 비하여 8 : 0, 10 : 0, 18 : 0, 20 : 0, 22 : 0 등의 지방산들이 유의하게 높았다. 18 : 2Ω6은 조제 분유가 인유에 비하여 2.3배나 많은 18% 수준을 유지하였다. 대체로 보아 Ω9계, Ω6계 및 Ω3계 대사산물들은 조제 분유가 낮은 경향을 보였다. 인유에 비하여 시유도 조제 분유와 유사한 경향을 나타내었다.

        Interaction of dietary Magnesium, Calcium and Polyunsaturated fatty acid(vegetable oils)on 3-Hydroxy-3-Methylglutaryl Co-A reductase activity was studied for a period of 30 days using isocalories and isonitrogenous as a basal diet . The subject rabbits were divided into 18 feeding groups. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The ratio of α1-lipoprotein par lipalbumin is 0.34 for control group, 0.38 the highest group fed 0.1 Mg(II) 10ml plus perilla oil and basal diet, the lowest 0.25 group fed 0.1M Mg(II) 5ml plus sesame oil and basal diet. 2. The ratio ratio of α2-lipoprotein per lipalbumin is 0.64 for control group. 0.95 as the highest for the group fed 0.1M Ca(II) 15ml plus sesame oil and basal diet, 0.1M Ca(II) 5ml plus perilla oil and basal diet. 3. The ratio of β-lipoprotein per lipalbumin is 0.71 for control group, the highest 0.81 for the groups fed 0.1M Mg(II) 10ml plus sesame oil and basal diet, the lowest 0.37 for the group fed 0.1M Mg(II) 15ml plus soybean oil and basal diet. 4. In serum triglyceride, control group was 129.5mg%, the highest 155.4mg% for the group fed 0.1M Ca(II) 5ml plus sesame oil and basal diet, the lowest 85.7mg% for the group fed 0.1M Mg(II) 10ml plus soybean oil and basal diet. 5. In serum cholesterol, control group was 96.7mg%, the highest 152.5mg% for the group fed 0.1M Ca(II) 10ml plus sesame oil and basal diet, the lowest 80.5mg% for the group fed 0.1M Mg(II) 15ml plus soybean oil and basal diet. 6. In case of HMG-CoA reductase activity, control group was 0.95, the highest 0.98 for the group fed 0.1M Ca(II) plus soybean oil and basal diet. 7. Interaction between metal(II) ions and polyunsaturated fatty acid(vegetable oil) are soybean oil〉sesame oil〉perilla oil, for Mg(II). soybean oil〉perilla oil〉sesame oil, for Ca(II). Therefore, it is invetigated that the interaction between metal ion and polyunsaturated fatty acid is the higher, the cholesterol level is the lower, and HMG-CoA reductase activity is increased.

        This study aimed to investigate the effect of amino acid additives to weaned piglet diets on the pH and volatile fatty acids of pig slurries. A total of 135 weaned 22 -day-old piglets (Yorkshire x Landrace x Duroc) were used in this 56-d study. The three dietary treatments were as follows: (1) Control as a basal diet, (2) 1% amino acid additive and (3) 2% amino acid additive. Both pH and acetic acid values at 71 and 78 days were significantly different in all treatment groups (p<0.05). In addition, significant differences in propionic acid values were observed among treatment groups at 64 and 78 days (p<0.05). However, pH, acetic acid, and propionic acid values did not differ between 1% and 2% amino acid treatment groups. In conclusion, adding 1% and 2% amino acid to weaned piglet diets reduced the pH, acetic acid and propionic acid contents of pig slurries by acting as a probiotic. This may help formulate increase management strategies for improving the pig housing environment.

        The effects of essential oils on pH, pathogens, and volatile fatty acids (VFA) in two poultry litters were investigated through a lab study. Essential oil-added poultry litters were randomly divided to two groups: control (200 g poultry litter) and Treatment (50 g thymol/Briefly, 200 g broiler litter was treated with or without 50 g thymol (Control and T1, respectively; 1 groups) and 200 g duck litter was treated with or without 50 g carvacrol (Control and T2, respectively; 2 group). Adding thymol to broiler litter increased the pH, reduced pathogens, and did not affect VFA. Interestingly, adding carvacrol slightly reduced the pH of duck litter, but had no significant effect on reducing pathogens and VFA. This difference is probably because the essential oil used and the properties of the two litters are different. In addition, pH was thought to control the odor generated from the litter, but this has not been proven. Further field studies should focus on clarifying this point.

        This study was conducted to investigate the effects of adding Tenebrio molitor L Powder to broiler feed on fatty acid profiles in broiler breast meat. In total, 180 broiler chicks (1-day old Arbor Acres) were included. The birds were randomly divided into control and treatment groups, with 3 replicate subgroups each(30 birds per subgroup), and fed a diet for 35 days without (control) or with 1% Tenebrio molitor L powder (treatment). Among individual fatty acids, addition of Tenebrio molitor L. powder resulted in slightly higher C18:1n-9, C20:3n-3 and C20:3n-6 contents, and lower C18:2n-6 content compared withcontrols (p<0.05). No remarkable differences in total SFA and total USFA contents were found between groups. In conclusion, inclusion of Tenebrio molitor L. in broiler diets did not improve overall fatty acid profiles.

        This study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of mixed probiotic on the immunity, productivity index and mortality rate in the broiler. Total of 120 one-day-old Ross broilers chicks were randomly assigned into two treatments (control dietary group and probiotic-treated group) with three replications of each treatment. The probiotic group broiler had a lower mortality rate than control during the experimental period. The productivity index in the probiotic group increased significantly than the control group. The weight of the bursa of fabricius was high in the probiotic-treated group than the control group. Activated the immunity level after fed the probiotic mixed diet compared to the control group. Furthermore, the probiotic diet significantly decreased the saturated fatty the control group. Whereas the probiotic mixed diet increased the unsaturated fatty acid than the control group. Afterward, the diet including probiotic induced positive impact on broilers immunity level. This indicates that a probiotic mixed diet could be protecting the intestine from the invasion of a pathogenic organism. It would be beneficial to the poultry industries by decrease the broiler mortality rate with elevated the immunity.
