        The feasibility of obtaining highly dispersed aluminum oxide powders by the electrical explosion of aluminum conductors in an inert gas atmosphere and the subsequent oxidation of aluminum particles by water prior to their contact with air is demonstrated. For a specific surface area of the initial aluminum powder of 6.5/g, the corresponding specific surface area of the resultant aluminum oxide nanopowder was as large as 300/g.

        Acidic degreasing agent(AADA) was prepared by blending sorbitol, Newpol PE-68, Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate, Tetronix T-70l, MJU-100A, n-octanoic acid, and phosphoric acid, The physical properties of AADA tested with aluminum specimen showed the following results ; when 3wt% AADA-5 was performed at 70℃, the degreasing rate was 95% which is comparitively good, and the percentage of etching was 0.277% which was found to be less than that of commercialized product. when 20wt% of AADA-5 was added at 65℃, the percentage of derusting was 91% and the good defoaming effect proved by following low foaming power tests respectively : Ross and Miles, and Ross and Clark methods.

        A nitrogen gas atomized aluminum powder was consolidated by powder-in sheath rolling method. A pure aluminum tube with outer diameter of 12 mm and wall thickness of 1mm was used as a sheath. The aluminum tube filled with the aluminum powder, first, was cold-rolled to the thickness of 6mm for performing, and then consolidated by the cold rolling and/or subsequent hot rolling at 360, 460 and . The aluminum powder compact fabricated by the sheath rolling showed high relative density more than 0.96 at any rolling conditions. The 0.2% proof stress increased with increasing hot rolling reduction and hot rolling temperature. Tensile strength was hardly affected by change in the hot rolling reduction, whereas it decreased with increasing hot rolling temperature. The powder compact showed the large elongation when cold rolling or hot rolling reduction was large. It was found that the sheath rolling was an effective method for consolidation of aluminum powder.

        본 논문에서 알루미늄 하니콤 샌드위치판 구조(AHSP)의 특성에 대해 해석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) AHSP의 H/T비가 낮아질수록 응력이 감소하며, 셀 크기(H)보다는 코어의 두께(T)가 두꺼워질수록 강도와 강성이 증가함을 알 수 있다. 2) AHSP 구조가 동일한 질량에서부터 증가하면서 EASP 구조에 비해 2.5~6.0배 정도의 높은 강도를 보이는 것을 알 수 있다. 3) AHSP의 면재의 두께변화는 AHSP 전체의 강성에 별로 영향을 미치지 못했으나, 심재의 두께가 증가할수록 단면 2차 모멘트의 값이 커지기 때문에 AHSP의 강성이 매우 커짐을 알 수 있다. 4) EASP보다 강성이 큰 AHSP의 고유진동수가 크며, 진동 모드 사이의 차도 커짐을 알 수 있다. 5) 비교연구 결과 AHSP 구조가 EASP 구조보다 적은 질량으로 훨씬 더 높은 강성을 갖는, AHSP 구조의 우수성이 입증된다. 따라서 중량경감이 가장 중요한 문제 중의 하나인 초고속선 및 대형선의 경우 AHSP 구조가 높은 굽힘강성을 갖고 다른 재료에 비해 상대적으로 적은 중량이 필요하므로 구조 재료로서의 적합성을 알 수 있다.

        The increasing interest in light weight materials coupled to the need for cost -effective processing have combined to create a significant opportunity for aluminum P/M. particularly in the automotive industry in order to reduce fuel emissions and improve fuel economy at affordable prices. Additional potential markets for Al PIM parts include hand tools. Where moving parts against gravity represents a challenge; and office machinery, where reciprocating forces are important. Aluminum PIM adds light weight, high compressibility. low sintering temperatures. easy machinability and good corrosion resistance to all advantages of conventional iron bm;ed P/rv1. Current commercial alloys are pre-mixed of either the AI-Si-Mg or AL-Cu-Mg-Si type and contain 1.5% ethylene bis-stearamide as an internal lubricant. The powder is compacted in closed dies at pressure of 200-500Mpa and sintered in nitrogen at temperatures between in continuous muffle furnace. For some applications no further processing is required. although most applications require one or more secondary operations such as sizing and finishing. These sccondary operations improve the dimension. properties or appearance of the finished part. Aluminum is often considered difficult to sinter because of the presence of a stable surface oxide film. Removal of the oxide in iron and copper based is usually achieved through the use of reducing atmospheres. such as hydrogen or dissociated ammonia. In aluminum. this occurs in the solid st,lte through the partial reduction of the aluminum by magncsium to form spinel. This exposcs the underlying metal and facilitates sintering. It has recently been shown that < 0.2% Mg is all that is required. It is noteworthy that most aluminum pre-mixes contain at least 0.5% Mg. The sintering of aluminum alloys can be further enhanced by selective microalloying. Just 100ppm pf tin chnnges the liquid phase sintering kinetics of the 2xxx alloys to produce a tensile strength of 375Mpa. an increilse of nearly 20% over the unmodified alloy. The ductility is unnffected. A similar but different effect occurs by the addition of 100 ppm of Pb to 7xxx alloys. The lend changes the wetting characteristics of the sintering liquid which serves to increase the tensile strength to 440 Mpa. a 40% increase over unmodified aIloys. Current research is predominantly aimed at the development of metal matrix composites. which have a high specific modulus. good wear resistance and a tailorable coefficient of thermal expnnsion. By controlling particle clustering and by engineering the ceramic/matrix interface in order to enhance sintering. very attractive properties can be achicved in the ns-sintered state. I\t an ils-sintered density ilpproaching 99%. these new experimental alloys hnve a modulus of 130 Gpa and an ultimate tensile strength of 212 Mpa in the T4 temper. In contest. unreinforcecl aluminum has a modulus of just 70 Gpa.

        고순도알루미늄 유전체의 내부표면적을 증가시키기 위하여 1M의 염산 에칭용액에 첨가제를 사용했을 때 나타나는 에칭특성의 변화를 조사하였다. 염산용액에 에틸렌글리콜이 첨가된 혼합용액에서 에칭을 실시했을 경우 알루미늄 기지 표면에 미세하고 균일한 에치피트가 형성되어 표면적 증가 효과가 크게 나타났으며, 또한 양극 산화 후 측정된 정전용량의 결과에서도 에틸렌 글리콜이 첨가된 에칭액에서 제조된 유전체는 표면적 증가에 의한 높은 정전용량 값을 나타냈다.

        석출경화형 6061Al기지합금과 SiC입자크기를 0.7μm 및 7.0μm로 변화시켜 강화한 SiCp/6061Al 합금복합재료의 시효 거동을 경도측정, DSC 시험 및 TEM관찰을 통하여 조사하였다. 170˚C에서 등온시효시 6061Al기지합금에 비하여 복합화한 0.7μmSiCp/6061Al합금복합재료 및 7.0μmSiCP/6061Al합금복합재료에서 최고경도에 도달하는 시간이 짧았으며, 또한 강화재의 크기가 큰 7.0μmSiCp/6061Al합금복합재료에서 시효촉진이 보다 크게 나타났다. 이것은 복합화 및 SiC입자크기 증가에 따른 전위 밀도 상승에 기인한다. 6061Al기지합금 및 복합재료에서 최고시효처리시의 주강화상은 봉상의 중간상 β(Mg2Si)이며,β상 생성의 활성화에너지는 복합화 및 SiG입자크기의 증가에 따라 감소되었다

        Underlayer의 종류 및 두께가 Al 박막의 배향성 및 면저항 변화에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. Al의 underlayer로서 sputtering 방식으로 증착되는 Ti와 TiN이 적층된 구조인 Ti/TiN이 사용되었으며, 각각에 대해 두께를 변화시키면서 Al 박막의 배향성, 면저항을 조사하였고, 400˚C, N2 분위기에서 열처리하면서 면저항의 변화를 조사하였다. Ti만을 Al의 underlayer로 사용한 경우, Ti두께가 10nm 이상이면 우수한 Al<111> 배향성을 나타냈으며 Al-Ti 반응 때문에 열처리 후 Al 배선의 면저항이 크게 상승하였다. Ti와 Al사이에 TiN을 적용함에 의해 Al<111> 배향성은 나빠지나 Al-Ti 반응에 의한 면저항의 증가는 억제할 수 있었다. Ti/TiN underlayer의 경우, 우수한 Al<111> 배향성을 확보하기 위한 Ti의 최소두께는 20nm이었고, Al-Ti 반응을 억제하기 위한 TiN의 최소두께는 20nm이었다.

        The present study is concerned with the hydrostatic extrusion process of copper-clad aluminum rod through metallurgical joining. In this study, the rigid plastic finite element program, HICKORY, is used to analyze the steady state extrusion process of the bimetal rod. Simulations are performed for copper-clad aluminum rod with several extrusion ratio to give the distributions of effective strain rate, equivalent stress and hardness. Experiments are also carried out for aluminum-inserted copper rod at room temperature. It is found out that finite element predictions are generally in good agreement with the experimental observations. The detail comparison of the extrusion loads by the finite element method with those by experiments are given.

        Spherical alumina powders were prepared by the controlled hydrolysis of aluminum iso-propoxide in a solution consisting of n-octyl alcohol and acetonitrile. As aluminum alkoxide's concentration increased, the particle size was increased and size distribution was more broad. As-prepared particle morphology was not spherical when acetonitrile volume fraction was increased over than 60%. As-prepared amorphous powders crystallized to γ-alumina at 1000℃ and converted to α-alumina at 1150℃. The particle morphology was retain after crystallization α-alumina. When aluminum iso-propoxide was used as aluminum source, the optimum preparation condition of spherical alumina was 0.1M AIP, 0.2M H2O, 0.1g/l HPC with a volume fraction (1/1) of the n-octyl alcohol/acetonitrile, 10min of reaction time and 30min of aging time.

        Along with the growth of conventional ferrous powder metallurgy (PM), PM of aluminum alloys has been intensively investigated in Japan. Although rapidly solidified aluminum alloy powder was first used in the USA,/sup 1)/ commercialization for consumer market was first realized in Japan./sup 2)/ In order to achieve the viable cost-performance including Near Net Shape (NNS) formability, we developed three processes, powder extrusion, powder forging and sintering. The new powder extrusion process does not use either capsulation or vacuum degassing. The new powder forging does not need lateral flow. The new sintering process does not use liquid phase. The performance achieved by the processes is outstanding mechanical or physical properties that has potential to substitute cast iron, steel, titanium Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) or Ingot Metallurgy (IM) aluminum alloys. Cooperation with customers, powder suppliers and research associations contributed to the advancement of PM aluminum alloys in Japan.

        polyimide를 입힌 SiO2 wafer상에 증착된 알루미늄 박막의 두께 및 소둔 여부에 따른 hillock의 거동을 atomic force microscopy (AFM)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 증착된 상태의 박막에서 성장 hillock이 관찰되었으며 박막 두께가 증가할수록 hillock의 크기는 증가한 반면 밀도는 감소하였다. 소둔 후 hillock의 평균 크기는 증가하였으나 밀도는 감소하였다. 이러한 hillock 밀도의 감소는 견고한 wafer상에 직접 증착된 알루미늄 박막에서와 다르다. 이는 유연한 polymide 박막에 의한 응력 완화로 응력유기 입계확산이 이루어지지 않아 hillock 이 추가로 형성되지 않은 상태에서 큰 hillock이 성장하면서 작은 hillock을 흡수하기 때문으로 판단된다.
