        인삼뿌리썩음병균, Cylindrocarpon destructans(Zins.) Scholten을 접종한 인삼절편으로 부터 얻은 섬유소분해효소 및 펙틴질분해광소의 역가는 그 농도, 시간에 비례하였다. Cellulase (Cx), endo-polygalacturonase(endo-PG), endo-poiymethylgalacturonase (endo-PMG), exo-polygalacturonase (exe-PG)와 exo-polymeth-ylgalacturonase(exo-PMG)의 역가는 접종후 4 일째 최대였으며 endo-PG와 endo-PMG는 1일 및 2일째는 전혀 검출되지 않았으나 exo-PG와 exo-PMG는 검출되었다. 접종후 6 일째에는 모든 펙틴질분해효소는 활성을 완전히 잃었으나 섬유소분해효소는 높은 역가을 유지하였다. Cx, endo-PG, endo-PMG, exo-PG 및 exo-PMG의 최적 pH는 각각 6.0, 5.5, 8.0, 7.0-7.5, 8.5이였다. Cx, endo-PG, endo-PMG, 및 exo-PG의 최적온도는 각각 exo-PMG 였다. 섬유소분해효소는 공시한 16개 이온중에서 0.05M 만이 억제하였다. 펙틴질분해효소는 이온에 따라 상이하였으나 과 이 가장 현저히 억제하였다. 공시한 8개 농약중에서 어느 것도 유효성분으로는 모든 효소작용을 억제하지 못했으며 exo-PG만은 모든 농약의 의하여 상당히 억제되었다. 그 중에서 Difolatan은 모든 펙틴질분해효소를 가장 잘 억제시켰다. 과 은 펙틴질분해효소를 거의 억제시켰으나 섬유소분해효소는 같은 농도에서 각각 에 이르렀다. Formalin은 exo-PG와 endo-PMG를 완전 억제시켰으나 다른 효소 특히 Cx는 그렇지 못했다. Difolatan은 모든 효소를 이상 억제하였으나 Cx는 그 이하였다. C. destructans가 분필하는 섬유소분해효소 및 펙틴질분해효소는 인삼뿌리썩음병과 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있으며 이 병을 효과적으로 방제하기 위하여 억제되어야 하겠다.

        1. 전국에서 채집 분리한 51개의 균주를 phage의 용 균형에 따라 분류하여 8가지 계통으로 나누었다. 2. 8가지 계통 중 F-계통이 우리나라에 가장 많았으며 H.C.A계통이 그 다음 순이었고 일본이나 남방계에 많은 D-계통은 발견되지 않았다. 3. 우리나라에 분포하고 있는 흰빛잎마름병균은 지역에 따라서 계통이 한정되거나 특이성을 보이지 않았다. 4. 통일품종은 단일품종내에서 6가지의 계통이 분리되었으나 다른 품종에서는 3가지 이내의 계통이 분리되었다.

        Today, environmental pollution has been found to be one of the causes of various diseases, including brain and nervous system diseases. In particular, neurodegenerative diseases have been found to be caused by hyperactivation of immune system cells such as microglia. Preventive and therapeutic measures are needed to suppress them. Hirudo is known as a traditional herbal medicine, based on its multiple biological activities such as anti-eczema and anti-coagulation. In the present study, the anti-neuroinflammatory potential of hirudo extract was investigated in lipopolysccharide (LPS)-stimulated BV2 microglial cells and in mice. Hirudo extract significantly inhibited LPS-stimulated nitric oxide (NO) production and cytokine (IL-1Ra, KC, MCP-5, and RANTES) expression in a dose-dependent manner without causing cytotoxicity. Pretreatment with hirudo extract suppressed LPS-induced NF-κB p65 nuclear translocation. Moreover, hirudo extract reduced LPS-stimulated microglial acitivation and improved memory impairments. The results demonstrated that hirudo extract exerts anti-neuroinflammation activities, partly through inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway. These findings suggest that hirudo extract might have therapeutic potential with respect to neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

        Magnetic activated carbon was prepared by adding a magnetic material to activated carbon that had been prepared from waste citrus peel in Jeju. The adsorption characteristics of an aqueous solution of the antibiotic trimethoprim (TMP) were investigated using the magnetic activated carbon, as an adsorbent, and response surface methodology (RSM). Batch experiments were carried out according to a four-factor Box-Behnken experimental design affecting TMP adsorption with their input parameters (TMP concentration: 50~150 mg/L; pH: 4~10; temperature: 293~323 K; adsorbent dose: 0.05~0.15 g). The significance of the independent variables and their interaction was assessed by ANOVA and t-test statistical techniques. Statistical results showed that TMP concentration was the most effective parameter, compared with others. The adsorption process can be well described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The experimental isotherm data followed the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacities of TMP, estimated with the Langmuir isotherm model were 115.9-130.5 mg/g at 293-323 K. Also, both the thermodynamic parameters, △H and △G, have both positive values, indicating that the adsorption of TMP by the magnetic activated carbon is an endothermic reaction and proceeds via an involuntary process.

        In this study, PAN-SZ (polyacrylonitrile scoria zeolite) beads were prepared by immobilizing Na-A zeolite (SZ-A) synthesized from Jeju volcanic rocks (scoria) on the polymer PAN. FT-IR and TGA analysis results confirmed that the SZ-A was immobilized in the PAN-SZ beads. SEM images showed that the PAN-SZ beads are a spherical shape with 2 mm diameter and exhibit a porous inner structure inside the bead. The most suitable mixing ratio of PAN to SZ-A as the adsorbent for removing Sr ions was PAN/SZ-A = 0.2 g/0.3 g. The adsorption kinetic data for Cu and Sr ions were fitted well with the pseudo-second-order model. The Cu and Sr ion uptakes followed a Langmuir isotherm model and the maximum adsorption capacities at 20℃ were 84.03 mg/g and 75.19 mg/g, respectively. The amount of Sr ion adsorbed by SZ-A on the PAN-SZ beads was about 160 mg/g, which was similar to that adsorbed by SZ-A powder. Thus, the PAN-SZ beads prepared in this study are considered to be effective adsorbents for removing metal ions in aqueous solutions.

        Several bacterial species from the Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) are opportunistic pathogens that lead to infections in patients with underlying lung disease, such as cystic fibrosis, as well as in immunocompromised individuals. Included in the Bcc, Burkholderia contaminans is an emerging pathogen in cystic fibrosis patients. However, this is the first report case of sepsis due to Burkholderia contaminans without cystic fibrosis in child. And we report that successful treatment of sepsis due to Burkholderia contaminans in the child, through antibiotic therapy.

        Background : During 2016 to 2017, Bacterial Rot symptom has been observed on Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. in Yeongju-si, Mungyeong-si, Jecheon-si and Eumseong-gun. This experiment was carried out to identify pathogenic bacteria that has not been reported up to now from A. macrocephala and to test pathogenicity of isolated bacteria against A. macrocephala. Methods and Results : Nine types of representative bacteria strains depending on colony size and color were isolated from surface disinfested symptomatic tissue that was macerated and streaked onto lysogeny broth (LB) medium with agar. Fungi were not recovered from any tissue that was surface disinfested and placed into acidified potato dextrose agar. Only one strain cause dark brown leaf rot symptom on A. macrocephala leaves soaked in bacterial suspensions. Potted A. macrocephala plants were used to test for pathogenicity. Inoculum was prepared by suspending the bacteria in sterile distilled water (SDW) for a final concentration of approximately 105 CFU/㎖. Suspensions were sprayed until runoff onto three replicate plants. Control plants were sprayed with SDW until runoff. Plants maintained in a dew chamber with 100% relative humidity at 30℃. After 3 days, leaf rot lesions developed on all inoculated plants; lesions later turned dark brown and appeared similar to symptoms observed in the field. Plants treated with water developed no symptoms. Same bacteria re-isolated onto LB from symptomatic tissues. Conclusion : On the basis of 16S rRNA sequence analysis, the strain isolated from A. macrocephala was identified as Pseudomonas viridiflava. Biological assay method using Potted plants confirmed the pathogenicity of Pseudomonas viridiflava. This is the first report of bacterial rot caused by Pseudomonas viridiflava on A. macrocephala.

        The aim of this study is to investigate the antioxidant and intracellular anti-inflammatory efficacy of blueberry leaf extracted with hot water (BLW), 70% ethanol (BLE), and 70% acetone (BLA) in RAW 264.7 macrophages. In order to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of blueberry leaf extracts, RAW 264.7 macrophages were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to induce the production of inflammation-related factors, which were measure by Western blotting and real-time PCR methods. i-NOS, COX-2 protein, and mRNA expression showed concentration-dependent decrease. The decreases in the mRNA expression levels of interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) were concentration-dependent. Further, the antioxidant effects of blueberry leaf on total polyphenol contents, electron donating ability and ABTS+ radical scavenging activity were evaluated. The total polyphenol contents of BLW, BLE, and BLA were 217.04±2.98, 156.72±3.90, and 182.88±3.02 mg TAE/g, respectively, while the electron donating abilities at 1,000 μg/mL of BLW, BLE, and BLA were 81.7, 79.6, and 79.3%, respectively. The ABTS+ radical scavenging activity was fond to be concentration dependent. The nitric oxide (NO) production inhibition activities at 50 μg/mL of BLW, BLE, and BLA were 35.1, 42.4 and 42.7%, respectively. In conclusion, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory test results indicate that blueberry leaf extracts (BLW, BLE, and BLA) can be used as potential anti-inflammatory agents.

        2016년 경주지진 이후로 국내에서도 본격적으로 건축물의 지진대책 강구가 시급한 시점에서 국내에 널리 보급되어 있는 R/C 건축 물의 효율적인 내진성능 평가 및 내진보강을 포함한 내진대책을 위한 기초적인 자료를 얻고자, 2016년 경주지진에서 지진피해를 받은 R/C 저 층 학교건축물(M학교)을 대상으로 지진피해도구분판정법을 이용하여 잔존내진성능과 지진피해정도를 평가함과 동시에, 부재수준의 비선형 동적해석을 수행하여 지진피해정도와의 상관관계를 검토하였다. 지진피해도구분판정에 의한 손상도-I로 분류된 기둥은 2개, 손상도-Ⅱ가 1 개, 손상도-III으로 분류된 기둥이 3개로 각각 평가되어, 최종적으로 평가한 내진성능잔존율(R)은 88.2%로 피해분류는 소규모 피해로 판정되 었으며, 또한 비선형동적해석 결과 1층 X방향의 최대응답을 나타낸 기둥의 휨변위는 0.7 mm, 전단변위는 6 mm로 전단균열은 발생하였지만, 전단파괴는 발생하지 않았다. 경주지진에서 지진피해를 입은 M학교의 지진피해가 1층의 X방향에 집중되어 있다는 사실, 휨균열보다는 전단 균열이 발생하였다는 사실을 고려한다면 본 연구에서 수행한 비선형동적해석 결과는 2016년 경주지진에서 지진피해를 받은 M학교의 지진피 해상황을 잘 반영하고 있다고 사료되며, 국내 기존 저층 R/C 건축물의 효율적인 내진성능 평가 및 내진보강을 포함한 내진대책을 위한 기초적 인 자료로서 활용가능하다고 사료된다.
