        When reinforcing an existing reinforced concrete beam-column building with a precast concrete panel, special connection between the PC member and the RC member is required to solve the time dependent deformation of the RC member and to receive the large shear forces. The aim of this study is to obtain the shear strength of upper connection between the existing RC beam-column and infilled PC wall panels in experimentally and theoretically. Thus, the static shear loading tests were conducted on the 6 specimens with the plate connection. Shear failure was resulted from the weakest portion of interior PC panel, exterior RC, and the connection, when the PC portion which located at the center of specimen was pulled upward from the bottom. T he experimental result was compared with analytical result from ACI 318M-14 Chapter 17 for the shear strength of post-installed anchor and PCI Handbook 7th edition 6.8 Structural Steel Corbel (PCI Design Handbook 7th edition, 2010) for the strength of cast-in H-beam. The analytical and experimental results show final failure at the same location. The failure loading of experiment showed larger than average 6% to that of the analysis.

        Many studies are conducted in several fields for fragility analysis of structures or elements which is a probabilistic seismic safety analysis in consideration with uncertainty of seismic loading. It is hard to directly conduct fragility analysis for an infrastructure with social importance due to its size. Therefore, a fragility analysis for an infrastructure mainly conducted in element level or conducted with scaled model built in accordance with similarity law. In this article, fragility analysis for prototype and scaled model of reinforced concrete column was conducted with numerical models which had been updated by the results of shaking table test and pseudo dynamic test. As a result, response stress from the numerical analysis result of prototype model was higher than that from scaled model due to different stiffness ratios between steel and concrete. However, the probability of failure for scaled model was higher than that for prototype model because failure criteria for scaled model was down due to similarity law. Also it was evaluated that probability of failure by using log normal standard deviation of response stresses by spectrum matched accelerograms was more reliable than probability of failure by using existing coefficient of variation normally used.

        This paper presents the resizing method of columns and beams that considers column-to-beam strength ratios to simultaneously control the initial stiffness and ductility of steel moment frames. The proposed method minimizes the top-floor displacement of a structure while satisfying the constraint conditions with respect to the total structural weight and column-to-beam strength ratios. The design variable considered in this method is the sectional area of structural members, and the sequential quadratic programming(SQP) technique is used to obtain optimal results from the problem formulation. The unit load method is applied to determine the displacement participation factor of each member for the top floor lateral displacement; based on this, the sectional area of each member undergoes a resizing process to minimize the top-floor lateral displacement. Resizing members by using the displacement participation factor of each member leads to increasing the initial stiffness of the structure. Additionally, the proposed method enables the ductility control of a structure by adjusting the column-to-beam strength ratio. The applicability of the proposed optimal drift design method is validated by applying it to the steel moment frame example. As a result, it is confirmed that the initial stiffness and ductility could be controlled by the proposed method without the repetitive structural analysis and the increment of structural weights.

        This paper investigates seismic performance of a small-sized single story building in Korea. Nonlinear pushover anlaysis is performed to verify shear failure of RC short columns eventually led to performance degradation. Also, nonlinear time history analysis is performed using the same earthquakes from Gyeongju. Similar failure mode was obtained as in the report where a sudden rupture of the RC columns happened.

        This study investigated reusability of costly guard column by ultrasonic. It also investigated various effects that affect to guard column generation by ultrasonic. When investigated 30 KHz of frequency, area of ascorbic acid is 73.0% compared to unused guard column. As a result of investigation of effect of pH, guard column by ultrasonic is effective at alkali area. As a result of investigation of solvent effect, when ethanol is used, generation rate is 81.9% as of peak area compared to the case of analysis in un used column. From the result, it indicates that regenerated guard by ultrasonic is reusable.

        Recent Engineered nanoparticles were increasingly exposed to environmental system with the wide application and production of nanomaterials, concerns are increasing about their environmental risk to soil and groundwater system. In order to assess the transport behavior of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), a saturated packed column experiments were examined. Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry and a DLS detector was used for concentration and size measurement of AgNPs. The column experiment results showed that solution chemistry had a considerable temporal deposition of AgNPs on the porous media of solid glass beads. In column experiment, comparable mobility improvement of AgNPs were observed by changing solution chemistry conditions from salts (in both NaCl and CaCl2 solutions) to DI conditions, but in much lower ionic strength (IS) with CaCl2. Additionally, the fitted parameters with two-site kinetic attachment model form the experimental breakthrough curves (BTCs) were associated that the retention rates of the AgNPs aggregates were enhanced with increasing IS under both NaCl and CaCl2 solutions.

        Behavior of RC(Reinforced-concrete) beam-column connections has been subjected to the earthquake loading has been determined by shear and attachment mechanism. However, since the shear and attachment are very fragile for cycle loadings. Through occurring plastic hinges at the beam, the column and the connection should remain elastic condition and the beam should dissipate the energy from the earthquake. This study was investigate on the seismic performance of 6 RC beam - column connections built with the high strength reinforcements (700MPa) based on design and detailing requirements in the ACI 318-05 Provision and KCI-07 appendix Ⅱ. This is aimed to evaluate the effect of the high-strength reinforcements as used the beam-column connection members. The main comparisons were the seismic performance of the connections affect the seismic performance in terms of strength, stiffness and ductility, joint shear stress-strain. A total of 6 beam-column specimens were built with a 1/2 scale and subjected to the cyclic loadings. Main design considerations were the area of the longitudinal reinforcements of the beam and details of the beam-column joint designed based on the seismic code. Cyclic test results are given and recommendations for the usage of high strength reinforcements for the seismic design is provided.

        In this study the structural performance of new composite column to composite beam connection was evaluated by cyclic tests. It is designed to be applied to various types of through type system to the bottom plate to view synthesis composite beam. A composite column is composed of a RC type column reinforced by steel angles which the end bends in each edge corners of column. also, A composite beam is composed of trussed type’s web, a bottom steel plate and reinforced by steel angles which the end bends in each edge corners of beam. 4 cyclic tests of the clarified structural performance of the connections are performed. All specimens that is apply reinforced concrete beam-column joints based on KBC2009 criteria was performed by cyclic test of column to beam. All specimens were exposed to be satisfied with the required ultimate strength.

        First of all, Fe or/and Mn immobilized granular activated carbons (Fe-GAC, Mn-GAC, (Fe, Mn)-GAC) were synthesized and tested to remove arsenate (As(V)). The results in batch test indicated that Fe-GAC removed As(V) effectively, even though the surface area of Fe-GAC was reduced largely. Moreover, adsorption isotherm test indicated that the experimental data fit well with Langmuir model and the maximum adsorption capacity (qmax) of Fe-GAC for As(V) was 3.49 mg g-1, which was higher than GAC (2.24 mg g-1). In column test, the simulated water, which consisted of As(V), Fe(III), Mn(II) and Ca(II) in tap water, was used. Fe-GAC column with 1 hr of pre-washing time treated As(V) effectively while GAC column removed Fe(III) better than Fe-GAC column. Moreover, the increasing pre-washing time from 1 to 9 hour in Fe-GAC column enhanced Fe(III) removal with little negative impact of As(V) removal. Mostly, the column filled with Fe-GAC and GAC (i.e. the mass ratio of Fe-GAC:GAC = 2:8) showed the higher treatability of both As(V) and Fe(III), even it operated with 1 hr pre-washing time.

        In this study, the seismic performance of connections between filled composite beam (CG beams) and forming angle composite (FAC) column was experimentally evaluated. First, the bending tests were conducted on two CG beams and the axial tests were conducted on two FAC columns. Then, based on these preliminary test results, the cyclic loading test were performed on two interior connections between CG beam and FAC column. The main difference of two specimens is the plate shape of the CG beam. The test results showed that both specimens achieved the maximum story drift capacity over 0.04 radian which is required for special moment frame.

        미국 AASHTO LRFD(AASHTO, 2012)나 국내의 도로교설계기준(2012)의 차랑충돌에 대한 교각설계기준을 참조하면 교각 설계 시 차량충돌에 대해 정적인 하중을 고려하도록 제시하고 있다. 한편 2003년 미국 네브래스카 주에 트럭이 교각에 충돌하여 교각 및 교량 상부구조가 붕괴되는 사고가 발생하는 등 차량충돌에 의한 교량붕괴사고는 홍수에 의한 교량붕괴사고에 이은 두 번째 요인으로 분류되기도 한다. 화물차량의 대형화와 도로시스템의 개선으로 인하여 이러한 사고가 발생할 가능성이 중가하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 교각 설계시 차량충돌에 대한 동적 해석을 수행하게 되면 많은 비용과 시간이 소요되어 실용적인 측면에서 연구결과가 쉽게 반영되지 못하고 있으므로 충돌해석 비용과 시간을 저감할 수 있는 모델축소법(model reduction)을 이용한 해석방법을 개발하였으며 그 효용성을 최종변위에 대해 직접충돌해석결과와 비교함으로써 평가하였다.

        This paper has proposed a reinforcing method for damaged RC columns with SRF sheets and Aramid rods. In order to verify the effectiveness and performance, two original columns and two reinforced columns with SRF sheets and Aramid rods were developed and tested under lateral cyclic displacement and a constant axial load. The test showed that the improvement of energy dissipation capacity was increased in terms of strength and ductility. In addition, an analytical modeling of the standard specimens was proposed using Response-2000 and ZeusNL program. The results of analytical and experimental studies for two standard columns were compared in terms of loading-displacement curve and energy dissipation capacity based on the nonlinear static analysis.

        To overcome the weakness of spread foundation in large space structure, the research of precast pile for replace spread foundation have been conducted. The new type of joint between PHC pile and steel column is named HAT Joint(Hollow hAlf-sphere cast-sTeel Joint). It connected PHC Pile by bolt that verification of bolt connection should be accomplished. In this paper, pull-out test and flexural performance for HAT Joint to verifying the bolt connection is explained. As a result, the pull-out and flexural capacities of bolt were checked to use in real structure. Furthermore, the equation of pull-out strength was proposed.

        In the moment frame subjected to earthquake loads, beam-column joint is structurally important for ductile behavior of a system. ACI Committee 352 proposed guidelines for designing beam-column joint details. The guidelines, however, need to be updated because of the lack of data regarding several factors that may improve the performance of joints. The purpose of this study is to investigate the seismic performance of reinforced concrete exterior joints with high-strength materials and unbonded tendons. Three specimens with different joint shear demand-to-strength ratios were constructed and tested, where headed bars were used to anchor the beam bars into the joint. All specimens showed satisfactory seismic behavior including moment strength of 1.3 times the nominal moment, ductile performance (ductility factor = at least 2.4), and sufficiently large dissipated energy.

        The influencing factors to remove phosphate were evaluated by converter slag (CS). Experiments were performed by batch tests using different CS sizes and column test. Solutions were prepared at the different pH and concentrations. The maximum removal efficiency was obtained over 98% with the finest particle size, CSa within 2 hours in batch tests. The removal efficiency was increased in the order of decreasing size with same amount of CS for any pH of solutions. The adsorption data were well fitted to Freundlich isotherm. From the column experiment, the specific factors were revealed that the breakthrough removal capacity (BRC) xb/mcs, was decreased by increasing the influent concentration. The breakthrough time, tb was lasted shorter as increasing the influent concentration. The pH drop simultaneously led to lower BRC drop during the experimental hours. The relation between the breakthrough time and the BRC to influent concentration was shown in the logarithmic decrease. Results suggested that the large surface area of CS possessed a great potential for adsorptive phosphate removal. Consequently particle size and initial concentration played the major influencing factors in phosphate removal by converter slag.

        This paper presents a foundation pile to steel column connection that can resist large magnitude of moment and that can be easy installed. The developed joint has spherical shape and it is given the name HAT joint to mean Hallow half-sphere steel joint. Four types of HAT joints are developed. Namely, H-type, T-type, P-type and K-type. In this paper I will talk about the performance assessment of T-type(Tube Column) and P-type(Pile Column) of HAT joints with finite element analysis and experiment on a full scale model is presented.

        So far, square concrete filled tubular(CFT) columns have been used in a limited width thickness ratio. The reason is that local buckling occurs in steel tube easily. Once the local buckling occurs, the confinement effect of steel tube on concrete disappears. In this study, we developed welded built-up square steel tube with reinforcement which are placed at the center of the tube width acts as an anchor. 3 specimens of slender welded built-up square CFT columns and 3 specimens of slender welded built-up square steel tube columns were manufactured with parameters of width(B) of steel tube, width thickness ratio(B/t). we conducted a experimental test on the 6 specimens under eccentric load, and evaluated the structural resistance and behavior of 6 specimens.
