        Moon, Hyun-Hee. 2017. “Changes of English Company Names in KOSPI: From the 1940s to the Mid-2010s”. The Sociolinguistic Journal of Korea 25(1). 53~83. This study aimed at investigating to what extent, in what ways, and for what purposes English has been used in Korean company names from the 1940s to the mid-2010s. Of those registered in KOSPI (the Korea Composite Stock Price Index) in July 2014, 165 companies with English names were chosen for the study. In order to grasp longitudinal trends, the linguistic composition of original names and subsequent name-changes were analyzed. The results demonstrate that Korean was the dominant language of company names between the 1940s and the 1970s, while English gained popularity in the 1980s and since then, consolidated its position as the most attractive lexical source. A Single word was the first form applied to English names, followed by a compound and an acronym. Since the 1990s, more complex forms combining clipping and blending have been widely employed, diversifying word formation types. Parts of speech, once limited to nouns, adjectives, and verbs, have later broadened to include articles, prepositions, and conjunctions. The major reason for the influx of English names is the positive images of English which connect them with being modern, global, progressive, future-oriented, and high-tech. The study shows that Korean companies have also discovered a new linguistic advantage of English, which has permitted them to incorporate diverse meanings into their names, and this has played an important role in strengthening the position of English.

        독점규제법상 지주회사 규제는 경제력집중 억제를 위한 규제의 하나로 1986년 동법의 개정 시에 도입되었다. 특히 1999년 동법 개정에 의하 여 지주회사 규제는 원칙적 설립 금지에서 설립 허용과 일정한 제한을 가하는 방식으로 변경되었다. 이와 같은 제도 변화에는 경제력집중의 수 단이 될 수 있는 등의 지주회사가 갖는 부정적 측면이 완화되었고, 반면 효율적인 조직 운영과 같은 긍정적 측면이 활용될 필요가 있다는 인식이 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 이유로 지주회사의 설립‧전환을 원칙적으로 허용 하면서 대신 일정한 제한을 부과하는 방식으로 법 개정이 이루어졌다. 이후 공정거래위원회는 재벌로 대표되는 대규모기업집단의 집단 구조가 계열사의 순환출자 방식에 기반함으로써 매우 복잡하고 불투명한 구조를 취하고 있고, 이를 개선하는 방안으로 지주회사 체제를 적극적으로 권장 하는 정책을 추진하여 왔다. 이 과정에서 1999년 법 개정에 의하여 도 입된 지주회사에 대한 여러 제한은 처음 입법 당시에 비하여 상당히 완 화된 내용을 갖게 되었다. 이러한 정책의 추진에 의하여 지주회사의 수 는 증가하였지만, 반면 지주회사의 부정적 측면을 최소화하기 위하여 도 입된 규제의 의의를 퇴색시키는 결과를 낳았다. 이러한 상황에서 지주회 사 규제의 의의를 다시 확인하고, 현재의 규제 내용이 이에 상응하는 것 인지를 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 또한 금산분리 원칙의 완화를 의도하는 공 정거래위원회의 개정안도 이러한 맥락에서 검토되어야 할 것이다.

        The engineering knowledge and technology is core driving forces of continuous growth in knowledge based society. Companies, the government, and universities are the subjects of an innovation and the cooperation between them is very important. Nowadays, the main purpose of industry-university cooperation moves to train experts and develop a new product. A shift of the paradigm came from the change of recognition that the final consumers of the program are companies and the universities are supporters of the program. In this paper, we investigate the purpose, participation and satisfaction of companies to industry-academy technology cooperation through empirical studies. The need to expert training, product development and process development makes companies participate industry-academy technology cooperation and companies have different purpose of participation by the business type. Companies often feel that expert training, subsidiary purpose of industry-academy technology cooperation, is more important than product development or process development. This result is caused by the real world environment of small and mid-size companies, lacking of technology experts. The participation of companies to each technology cooperation program (technology transfer, joint technology development, consigned technology development, technology consulting, co-op. lab.) is also different by business type. The companies’ satisfaction with the purpose of process development is relatively higher than that with the purpose of product development and companies show also different satisfaction value by business type and participating program. The results of this study can give a contribution to the design of demand oriented industry-academy technology cooperation model.

        For most organizations, a security infrastructure to protect company’s core information and their technology is becoming increasingly important. So various approaches to information security have been made but many security accidents are still taking place. In fact, for many Korean companies, information security is perceived as an expense, not an asset. In order to change this perception, it is very important to recognize the need for information security and to find a rational approach for information security. The purpose of this study is to present a framework for information security strategies of companies. The framework classifies companies into eight types so company can receive help in making decisions for the development of information security strategy depending on the type of company it belongs to. To develope measures to classify the types of companies, 12 information security professionals have done brainstorming, and based on previous studies, among the factors that have been demonstrated to be able to influence the information security of the enterprise, three factors have been selected. Delphi method was applied to 29 security experts in order to determine sub items for each factor, and then final items for evaluation was determined by verifying the content validity and reliability of the components through the SPSS analysis. Then, this study identified characteristics of each type of eight companies from a security perspective by utilizing the developed sub items, and summarized what kind of actual security accidents happened in the past.

        대부분의 조직에서 핵심 자산으로 분류되는 정보와 기술을 보호하기 위한 보안 환경 구축과 이에 대한 운영 업무는 그 어떤 업무보다 중요해지고 있다. 이에 따라 다양한 방법으로 정보 보안에 대한 접근이 이루어지고 있지만, 보안 사고는 지속적으로 발생하고 있으며 그 빈도나 피해 규모 역시 줄어들지 않고 있다. 우리나라의 기업 정서상 정보 보안은 안정성을 유지하기 위한 투자 개념이 아닌 소모성 비용으로 인식되고 있는 것이 사실이다. 이러한 인식을 바꾸기 위해서는 정보 보안의 필요성에 대해 정확히 인지하고 최소한의 비용으로 최대의 효과를 얻을 수 있도록 합리적인 접근 방법을 찾는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 정 보 보안에 접근하고자 하는 기업의 상황에 맞는 전략 유형 틀을 제시하는데 있다. 이 프레임워크는 기업의 유형을 8가지로 분류하는데, 각 기업은 자사가 속한 유형에 따라 정보 보안 전략 수립 의사결정을 지원 받을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 기업의 유형을 분류하기 위한 척도 개발을 위해 보안 관련 전문가 12명과 브레인스 토밍을 진행하고 선행 연구를 바탕으로 기업의 정보보안에 영향을 미칠 수 있다고 검증된 요인 가운데 양극의 영향 요인 3가지를 선정하였다. 그리고 각각의 요인 별로 세부 척도 항목을 다시 29명의 보안 관련 전문가를 대상으로 델파이(Delphi) 기법을 활용하여 개발한 후 SPSS 분석을 통해 구성 요인의 내용타당도 및 신뢰도를 검증하여 최종 평가를 위한 항목을 개발하였다. 그리고 개발된 항목을 활용하여 보안의 관점으로 본 8가지 기업의 유형은 각각 어떤 특징을 가지고 있으며, 주로 해당되는 기업과 실제 사고 사례에 대해 정리해 보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 처음 정보 보안에 접근하고자 하는 기업이나 새롭게 정보 보안 전략을 수립하고자 하는 기업에 기초가 될 자료로서 의사결정을 지원할 결과를 산출하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

        본 연구는 벤처캐피탈의 투자평가 시 심사역의 직관과 경험 위주의 투자 행태에서 벗어나 객관적으로 평가할 수 있는 실무 투자 평가 지표를 도출하고 지표별 해석을 통해 벤처기업 투자 평가 효율성 제고를 목적으로 하였다. 연구를 위해 벤처캐피탈 심사역 65 명을 대상으로 설문분석과 AHP 분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 벤처캐피탈의 벤처기업 투자 결정에 가장 중요한 평가요인은 시장 관련 요인들이었으며, 투자를 희망하는 벤처기업에게는 시장접근성, 경영자 기술/경영 경험 및 추천/평판 등이 중요한 것으로 나타났다.

        Communicating corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become increasingly important for the success of organizations (Coombs and Holladay, 2012; McWilliams and Siegel, 2001). Several studies have focused on consumer responses to CSR and found that positive evaluations of CSR initiatives led to greater loyalty to both companies and their brands and to more positive behaviors toward companies (Dhanesh, 2015; Glavas and Godwin, 2013; Sen and Bhattacharya, 2001). Therefore, the effective communication of these CSR initiatives appears to be important (Eberle, et al., 2013; Lee et al., 2013). However, research on how consumers perceive a company’s communication of specific CSR motives in relation to its corporate reputation is scarce (De Vries et al., 2013). The current study aimed to investigate the role that communicating CSR motives plays in someone’s perception of a company. To investigate the role of intrinsic and extrinsic motives in explaining consumer-company identification, scepticism and reputation, we conducted two online consumer survey studies. In Study 1 (N=178), we used a well-known personal care product (PCP). In Study 2 (N=220), in the context of a large worldwide furniture retailer, we tried to replicate the findings of Study 1. In contrast to Study 1, we now added situational scepticism. The results of the current study show that the positive relationship between intrinsic CSR motives and company evaluations were replicated from previous studies. In this relationship consumer-company identification and scepticism play a mediating role. However this role seems to be different for positive versus negative attributions. The negative relationship between extrinsic CSR motives and company evaluations seems to be more ambiguous. Suggestions are made for a more meta-analytical approach to distinct consumers’ perceptions on a company’s CSR motives.

        Multi-channel shopping, along with the arrival of smartphones, is the most significant change that has taken place in retail lately. Mobile shopping behaviors are considerably different from the shopping behaviors of other existing channels such as offline, TV, and the Internet. However, initially, Korean retail companies had trouble coping with this market change owing to a lack of understanding of mobile shopping behaviors. Therefore, they espoused big data analytics, expecting to obtain customer insights on not only mobile shopping behaviors but also multi-channel shopping behaviors. This case study discusses a trial made by a leading Korean multi-channel retail company to implement big data analytics in its marketing. The company was confronted with two issues, which prompted it to embrace big data marketing. First, the company recognized that it is extremely important to understand customer behavior across the entire shopping process and accordingly conduct the targeted marketing. Second, the company seeked to encourage the customers who used only a single channel to use diverse channels for sales as well as retention. The company thus tried to develop its rules for triggered marketing by analyzing the behavioral characteristics of multi-channel customers. For this, behavioral data for three years, covering about 10 million customers, were gathered and analyzed. Lastly, the company came up with detectable customer metrics that were expected to forecast the sales. In addition, customer segments were derived from data clustering based on customers’ shopping pattern, and marketing strategies were developed accordingly. Furthermore, the big data analytics revealed the importance of returning customers, and recommended modification to the royalty program and promotion of specific product categories. This case study proved the merits and demerits of big data analytics. On one hand, it helps in understanding the market trends of complex environments such as multichannel retail, and the significance of developing marketing strategies accordingly and reaping immediate benefits. On the other hand, it analyzes only the data of a given condition; therefore, it is hard to forecast the results if the condition, such as product-related offers, changes considerably. Big data marketing seems to work more effectively when it is used in combination with other qualitative research. This case study shows the status of big data marketing in a Korean multi-channel retail company and highlights its potentials as well as limits in this industry. change that has taken place in retail lately.         In manufacturing company, safety is a important issue because it can cause many cost and problems of company. So reduce safety accident can increase manufacturing company's productivity. Safety accident has close relationship with employee's behavior, which is 'safety behavior'. In this study, researcher try to find out role of leader-member exchange and employee's job commitment effect on safety behavior in manufacturing company. A total of 279 responses were collected from manufacturing company’s employees. The result of this empirical study show us that leader-member exchange has positive effect on employee's job commitment and safety behaviot. And job commitment has positive effect on safety behavior. Base on this empirical result, researcher provide critics and manageric implication for manufacturing companies.

        2014년 3월부터 홍콩은 새회사법 시대를 열고 있다. 회사법을 현대화 하고 나아가 홍콩의 위상을 주요한 국제경영 및 금융센터로서 역할을 하 게할 목적으로 구회사조례의 전반적인 재편 작업이 2006년 중반에 착수 되었다. 회사조례의 종합적인 재편성을 위한 어려운 작업은 정부공무원 을 중심으로 구성된 회사법안 팀에 의하여 수행되었다. 수년 동안의 공개포럼과 세미나를 거쳐 최종 마련된 회사법안은 2011 년 1월 26일에 홍콩 입법회에 제안되었다. 법안을 심의하기 위하여 설치 된 법안위원회는 총연장 120시간 이상이 걸린 44회의 회의와 200쪽 이 상의 의견제출 후에 2012년 6월에 법안심의를 마쳤으며, 2012년 7월 12에 동 회사법안은 홍콩 입법회를 통과하였다. 새 회사조례는 921개조 부칙 11개조로 구성되어 있으며 홍콩에서 회 사의 설립과 운영을 위한 현대화된 법률체계를 규정하고 있다. 구 회사 조례의 주요한 규정의 대부분은 폐지되고 일부 규정만 남아있다. 새 법 은 4개의 주요한 목표를 달성할 것을 목적으로 한다. 즉, 회사지배구조를 개선하고, 더욱 좋은 규제를 확실하게 하고, 기업 활동을 촉진하고 그리 고 법률을 현대화한다는 것이다. 본고는 새 회사법의 4가지 주요한 목적 을 달성하기 위한 중요한 대책의 요약과 새 회사법의 각 편의 개요를 기 술하였다. 법안위원회에서 심사숙고중 보다 논쟁이 많았던 문제는 “총회 결의에 서 인원수 기준”, 이사의 주의의무에 관한 기준의 명확화, 이사의 이해충 돌에 관한 원칙, 감사보고서 기재 강화, 대표소송 요건 완화와 대상 확 대, 이사의 주소와 개인 신분번호에 관한 정보에 대한 접근가능성 및 간 이재무보고 적용요건 등을 포함한다. 본 자료는 새 회사조례의 주요 내 용을 설명하여 새 입법에 대한 이해를 촉진시키고자 한다.

        Most Korean companies in the fashion industry are SMEs, and the role of the CEO and management ownership is important for enhancing the firm’s competence and developing strategies. The study aims to examine the effect of management ownership on company financial growth. In particular, the study focuses on the moderating effect of company age and size on Korean fashion SMEs’ financial outcomes. Financial data based on company financial statements from 2012 to 2014 was collected by the Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System of Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service. A total of 295 companies’ (domestic fashion businesses) data was analyzed by the bootstrap method. The median sales value in the financial year 2014 was 47,492,403,958 KRW, and the company size was divided by it. The companies were in business for an average of 20 years. According to the results, the management ownership had a negative effect on Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for the three-years, and the relationship between the two variables was moderated by company age. Additionally, the interaction effect of management ownership and company age on 3-CAGR was also moderated by company size. When the companies had spent only a few years in business, a negative effect of management ownership for small firms and a positive effect of management ownership on financial growth for medium firms were found. These results suggest that small companies starting business need to manage their company governance structure to make flexible decisions, and after retaining financial growth, the companies can expand their businesses based on strong ownership.

        With signs of the redevelopment of the domestic sewing industry, national support agencies were established. This study aims to assess the present conditions of the domestic sewing industry and investigate the effectiveness of national sewing industry support policies. According to the results of a survey of 30 sewing companies managers, the biggest factor causing product defects was work being rushed because of tight delivery dates, and the reduction in sales was caused by a lack of orders. Moreover, sewing technicians are aging, and the biggest reason for their decrease in number is that people do not pursue the job because of the common understanding that it is difficult. Managers perceived that the government’s sewing technician training program was not a practical help. They were well aware of the support program to improve the work environment and the sewing equipment support program and showed high satisfaction with these programs, but they complained that the period for equipment rental was fixed. A majority of them thought that the Korean sewing industry environment had still not improved, and were skeptical about its future outlook. They identified its most urgent needs as the expansion of orders and the securing of manpower. The support programs that they wanted urgently included support for employees’ four major public insurances and the enactment of the increase of toll processing fees.
