        This work reports the syntheses of an inexpensive and efficient asphalt-derived mesoporous carbon (AdMC) as an adsorbent. The adsorbent was activated with potassium hydroxide to increase its surface area and then characterized by SEM–EDS, FT-IR, and BET. The adsorption properties of AdMC were evaluated for the adsorptive removal of eleven Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and diesel from water samples. The prepared AdMC showed very high surface areas and high micropore volumes equal to 2316 m2/g and 1.2 cm3/g, respectively. Various experimental conditions influencing the adsorption capacity of eleven PAHs and diesel were investigated. At high concentrations, PAHs and diesel solubility in water is very low. Hence, samples were emulsified with a surfactant, and then maximum adsorption capacity was investigated. Adsorption profile of individual PAHs was examined using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis followed by liquid–liquid extraction. Total hydrocarbon removal was studied using a total organic analyzer. Asphalt-derived mesoporous sorbent showed an extreme ability to remove PAHs and diesel (average adsorption capacity of 166 mg/g for individual PAHs and diesel (maximum capacity of 1600 mg/g). The experimental results fitted the Langmuir model with a correlation efficiency of 0.9853. The results obtained for both adsorbents also matched to pseudo-second-order kinetics, suggesting that the adsorption of PAHs and diesel is chemical, monolayer, and homogeneous process.

        Facile process for the fabrication of multi-layer graphene thin film (MLGF) is reported here. Multi-layer graphene dispersion prepared by liquid-phase exfoliation of graphite was sprayed on a glass substrate by spray pyrolysis method. The structural, optical and electrical properties of the deposited MLGF are investigated. The sheets of graphene are deposited uniformly on the substrate and distribution of small graphene sheets with size of 300–500 nm can be observed in SEM image. AFM and micro-Raman results ensured that the spray-coated graphene thin film is composed of multi-layer graphene sheets. Spray coated graphene thin film showed significant optical transparency of 57% in the visible region (400–550 nm). MLGF possessed the electrical conductivity in the order of 744 S/m with surface resistivity of 3.54 k Ω/sq. The prepared liquid-phase exfoliated graphene thin film showed superior photoelectric response. The results of this study provided a framework for fabricating an optimized MLGF using a spray pyrolysis route for optoelectronics devices.

        This study is related to the development of lightweight automotive materials that were carried out to develop eco-friendly vehicles worldwide. High-strength aluminum alloy is used as one of the significant lightweight materials in the field of transportation machinery, and it is used as a lightweight material in various areas, including automobiles. The A356 alloy used in this study is an excellent aluminum alloy material that has widely used as a high strength aluminum alloy material in various forming methods. In this study, to examine the characteristics of the two alloys in which Mn and Sr elements were added to the A356 alloy and the A356 alloy, both alloys were manufactured by metal mold casting, which is a gravity casting method. The obtained specimens were heat-treated under the same conditions. In this study have investigated of the microstructure analysis, thermal analysis, crystal phase analysis, and mechanical property evaluation were performed to confirm how the added Mn and Sr elements influenced the microstructure, precipitate formation, and mechanical properties.

        The relationship between the precipitation of secondary phase and the thermal properties of Al-4.5%Cu alloy (in wt.%) after various heat treatments has been studied. Solid solution treatment of alloy was performed at 808 K for 6 hours, followed by warm water quenching; then, the samples were aged in air at 473 K for different times. The thermal diffusivity of the Al-4.5%Cu alloy changed with the heat treatment conditions of the alloy at temperatures below 523 K. The as-quenched specimen had the lowest thermal diffusivity, and as the artificial aging time increased, the thermal diffusivity of the specimen increased in the temperature range between 298 and 523 K. For the specimen aged for five hours, the thermal conductivity was 12% higher than that of the as-quenched specimens at 298 K. It is confirmed that the thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of the Al-4.5%Cu alloy significantly depend on their thermal history at temperatures below 523 K. The precipitation and dissolution of the Al2Cu phase were confirmed via DSC for the alloys, and the formation of coefficient of thermal expansion peaks in TMA was caused by precipitation. The precipitation of supersaturated solid solution of Al-4.5%Cu alloys had an additional linear expansion of ≈ 0.05 % at 643 K during thermal expansion measurement.

        Since the interaction between the second-phase particle and grain boundary was theoretically explained by Zener and Smith in the late 1940s, the interaction of the second-phase particle and grain boundary on the microstructure is commonly referred to as Zener pinning. It is known as one of the main mechanisms that can retard grain growth during heat treatment of metallic and ceramic polycrystalline systems. Computer simulation techniques have been applied to the study of microstructure changes since the 1980s, and accordingly, the second-phase particle–grain boundary interaction has been simulated by various simulation techniques, and further diverse developments have been made for more realistic and accurate simulations. In this study, we explore the existing development patterns and discuss future possible development directions.

        This study has related to lightweight automobiles due to global warming with the reduction of fossil fuel reserves are rapidly progressing around the automobile industry. This study has revealed the relationship for the mechanical properties via the analyzed microstructure, precipitated phase variation of the wheel hub of a commercial vehicle manufactured using molten forging technology using A356 and A357 alloys, which are high-strength Al-Si-Mg base cast aluminum alloys. Differential scanning calorimetry has performed to analyze the precipitation amount of each alloy that influences the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy. The XRD analysis has measured for the microstructure's crystal phase on A356 and A357 alloys. In this paper has evaluated to compare the properties of the A356 alloy and the A357 alloy for the mechanical properties. The A356 alloy has confirmed that a microstructure is finer than A357 alloy, and a quantity of precipitated material is more than A357 alloy. Therefore, this study confirmed that the A356 alloy has better mechanical properties than the A357 alloy.

        This study deals with the yielding behavior and strain aging properties of three bake hardening steels with dualphase microstructure, fabricated by varying the annealing temperature. Bake hardening and aging tests are performed to examine the correlation of martensite volume fraction with yielding behavior and strain aging properties of the bake hardening steels with dual-phase microstructure. The volume fraction of martensite increases with increasing annealing temperature. Roomtemperature tensile test results show that the yielding behavior changes from discontinuous-type to continuous-type with increasing volume fraction of martensite due to higher mobile dislocation density. According to the bake hardening and aging tests, the specimen with the highest fraction of martensite exhibited high bake hardening with low aging index because solute carbon atoms in ferrite and martensite effectively diffuse to dislocations during the bake hardening test, while in the aging test they diffuse at only ferrite due to lower aging temperature.

        In this study, the effect of tempering on the stretch-flangeability is investigated in 980 MPa grade dual-phase steel consisting of ferrite and martensite phases. During tempering at 300 oC, the strength of ferrite increases due to the pinning of dislocations by carbon atoms released from martensite, while martensite is softened as a consequence of a reduction in its carbon super-saturation. This strength variation results in a considerable increase in yield strength of the steel, without loss of tensile strength. The hole expansion test shows that steel tempered for 20 min (T20 steel) exhibits a higher hole expansion ratio than that of steel without tempering (T0 steel). In T0 steel, severe plastic localization in ferrite causes easy pore formation at the ferrite-martensite interface and subsequent brittle crack propagation through the highly deformed ferrite area during hole expansion testing; this propagation is mainly attributed to the large difference in hardness between ferrite and martensite. When the difference in hardness is not so large (T20 steel), on the other hand, tempered martensite can be considerably deformed together with ferrite, thereby delaying pore formation and hindering crack propagation by crack blunting. Eventually, these different deformation and fracture behaviors contribute to the superior stretch-flangeability of T20 steel.

        본 연구는 ‘설향’ 딸기의 수확시기에 따른 품질 특성을 확인하고, 상온(20°C )·cold-chain(10-12°C)·저온 (5°C) 유통에 적합한 숙성단계를 조사하기 위하여 수행하였다. 딸기는 12월 20일부터 5월 9일까지 6번에 걸쳐서 수확하였다. 딸기를 수확할 때 적합한 숙성 정도는 3월까지는 경도 2.9-3.0 N, 당도 8.6 °Brix 이상이었으나, 4월 이후에는 당도가 감소하였다. 딸기의 숙성을 결정하는 주요 요인은 붉게 착색된 정도이고, Hunter a 값은 32-37, hue angle은 36-45°였다. 딸기의 후숙 실험에서 숙성 정도는 딸기의 착색이 진행되는 정도에 따라서 결정되었으며, 상온에서는 10%/day, 10-12°C에서는 5%/day, 5°C에서는 3%/day씩 착색이 진행되었다. 따라서 상온에서 유통할 경우에는 80%, cold-chain · 저온에서 유통하기 위해서는 90%의 착색된 과실을 수확하여야 유통하는 동안 상품성이 유지되었다. 그리고 상온에서는 70% 이하로 착색된 딸기를 유통하거나, 저온에서는 80% 이하로 착색된 딸기를 유통하는 경우에는 100% 착색이 이루어지지 않고 상품성을 잃었다.

        본 연구에서는 열유도상분리법(thermally induced phase separation)을 사용하여 제조한 플라워 형태의 단면을 갖는 PVDF [poly(vinylidene fluoride)] 중공사 분리막에 대한 친수화 코팅과 그에 따른 특성평가에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 연구에 사용한 중공사 분리막은 (주)퓨어엔비텍에서 제조한 PVDF 소재의 분리막이었으며, 친수화 코팅 실험은 PEBAX 1657, 2533, 3533의 공중합체 고분자를 사용하여 농도가 다른 용액을 제조 후 딥 코팅 방법을 이용하여 실시하였다. 친수화 코팅이 된 중공사 분리막은 친수화 정도를 파악하기 위하여 SEM 촬영 및 접촉각 측정을 실시하였다. SEM 촬영 결과 코팅의 농도가 증가하고 코팅횟수가 증가할수록 코팅층의 두께가 두꺼워짐을 확인하였고, 접촉각 측정의 경우 코팅의 농도가 증가하고 코팅횟수가 증가할수록 접촉각이 낮아짐을 확인하였다. 기체 투과 실험 결과 코팅농도가 증가하고 코팅횟수가 증가할수록 산소 기체투과량이 감소하였으며 친수성이 높은 PEBAX 1657로 코팅한 중공사의 기체투과량이 PEBAX 2533과 3533으로 코팅된 중공사보다 낮은 기체투과량을 가짐을 확인하였다.

        This study was conducted to investigate the effects by supplementing concentrates during the late fattening phase in TMR (total mixed ration) feeding of Korean steer on the performance, carcass traits, physico-chemical characteristics and sensory test of the longissimus dorsi muscle. Eight Korean steers (24 months of age) averaging 604 kg in body weight were fed the TMR (Control) or the TMR supplemented with concentrates (TMR+conc.) until 30 months of age, then they were slaughtered. Steers fed the TMR supplemented with concentrates had a higher (p<0.05) intakes of dry matter and TDN (total digestible nutrient), carcass weight and marbling score compared to those fed TMR only, but carcass grade did not differ (p>0.05) between treatments. Amino acid concentration of the longissimus dorsi muscle did not differ between treatments, However, the highest concentrations were for glutamic acid and lowest for cystine; further, and the content of essential amino acids was highest for lysine, leucine, threonine, arginine, and isoleucine in that order. Cis-oleic acid and arachidonic acid of fatty acids in the longissimus dorsi muscle were higher (p<0.05) in the control condition compared to TMR+conc. The contents of oleic acids, palmitic acid, stearic acid constituted about 88% of the total fatty acids. Although the physico-chemical characteristics of the longissimus dorsi muscle did not significantly differ between treatments (p>0.05), but the sensory test results were lower for the TMR+conc. condition. These results suggest that supplementing concentrates during the late fattening phase of Korean steers resulted in increasing the carcass weight and marbling score. However, the cis-oleic acid content of the longissimus dorsi muscle was decreased as a result of supplementing concentrates, which could affect negatively in meat sensory evaluation.

        영화에서 사용되는 오페라의 음악 및 줄거리는 유사성을 통하여 의미를 강화하고, 극적 전개에 기여한다. 오페라가 영화에 사용되면 그것은 분명 내재적 음악에 해당하나, 세련된 의미 전달과 강화를 위해 영화 제작자들은 영화 속 오페라의 위치성을 조작하여 현장감(청각적 충실도)을 성취하거나, 그와 반대로 처리하여 외재적으로 변용하기도 한다. 이 논문에서는 필자는 음악의 현장감을 확보하거나 무마하기 위해 위치성을 강화하거나 약화시키는 요인으로 음원의 명료성과 좌우 혹은 중앙의 방향성을 분석하였다. 전자는 위상상관계수, 후자는 고니오미터를 통해 계측이 가능한데, 필자는 영화에 사용된 두 요소의 미묘한 조정이 영화의 의미 형성 및 강화에 어떻게 기여하고 또 나아가 내러티브 전략을 보조하는 측면을 논의하였다. 필자는 『대부3』(1990), 『007: 퀸텀 오브 솔라스』(2008), 『미션임파서블 5 로그네이 션』(2015)에서 사용된 오페라 ⪡카발레리아 루스티카나⪢, ⪡토스카⪢, ⪡투란도트⪢가 음향의 변화에 따라 어떻게 기능하는지 위상상관계수와 고니오미터를 통해 분석하였다. 『대부3』에서는 오페라의 특정 지점에서 위상상관계수를 높여 가사를 대사 수준의 명료하게 확보하는 처리가 돋보였고, 『007: 퀸텀 오브 솔라스』에서는 근본적으로 내재성을 지닌 ⪡토스카⪢가 외재적으로 삽입 된 아놀드의 음악과 결합하며 만들어내는 위치성의 변화를 통한 역동적인 현장감 확보와 매체 간 감정 공유 방식이 드러났고, 『미션임파서블 5: 로그네이션』에서 음악의 처리 방식과 방향성 및 음향 조절을 통한 현장감 전달 방식을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 음향 조절은 영화음악이 내재와 외재의 위치성을 넘어 앰비다이제틱하거나 메타다이제틱한 음향 효과를 보조함으로써 관객들의 감정적 만족도와 풍요로운 정보로 인한 몰입도를 확보할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
