        본 연구는 미중 경쟁이 심화되고 있는 오늘날, 동남아시아를 포괄한 동아시아 지역에 있어 일본의 원조 이념 변화가 미친 정책적 영향이 무엇이고 어떠한 함의를 가지고 있는가에 대한 질문에서 출발했다. 이 에 대한 연구의 주요 결론은 다음과 같다. 2000년대 이후 일본은 '원 조 이념의 변화'를 추진했고 이를 통해 기존의 '비군사화 규범' 중심의 원조 이념에서 벗어나 안전보장 규범을 적극적으로 수용했으며, 특히 해상법집행에 중점을 두고 동남아시아 국가의 해양능력구축을 지원하 고 있다. 이제까지 방산수출을 통한 접근은 전무하다고 보아도 좋을 정 도로 제한적이었으나, 원조 이념의 변화와 함께 방위장비 해외이전이 자유로워지고 '원조화'하면서 장기적으로는 변화의 가능성이 보이고 있 다. 한국은 일본의 사례를 참고하면서, 동남아시아 역내 국가들의 수요 와 우려가 무엇인지를 상대국 입장에서 파악하는 해양능력구축 지원을 추진할 필요가 있다.

        본 논문에서는 기존의 EU 다자주의 협력 외교에 관해 고찰하고, 최근 강조되는 인도-태평양 전략에 참여하는 EU 및 유럽 주요국의 전략을 분석하였다. EU와 미국은 실재하는 양측의 가장 큰 위협인 러시아 및 중국에 대해 상호 협력 하 대응하여 다자적 구도를 형성하고자 한다. 이를 토대로 본고는 EU·미 대서양 동맹 복원 전망에 관해 NATO를 통한 동맹의 강화 그리고 EU·미의 對러시아 및 對 중국 공동 대응 전략을 통해 복합적 측면에서 이해하고자 한다. 유럽의 전통적 안보체계인 NATO를 통해 러시아 등 기존의 안보위협에 관해 재확인하였으며, 새 시대와 상황에 따른 위협의 우선순위를 조정하였다. 더불어 EU는 범대서양 동맹을 통해 안보 부문을 포괄한 기술 등의 범 이슈적 영역에서 EU-미국 간 협력이 상호작용할 것을 추구하고 있다. 이러한 범대서양 동맹의 확증 강화는 중국의 선택지를 좁힐 것이며, 미중의 강력한 라이벌 관계에서 EU의 외교적 활동 영역과 역할을 넓힐 것이라 판단된다.

        트랜스 신남알데하이드(TCA)는 계피의 활성성분 중 하나로 알려져 있으며, 항바이러스, 항균, 항진균 뿐 아니라 일부 암세포주에서 항암 작용이 있다고 보고된 바 있다. 하지만, 위암세포주에서의 보고는 미비하며 그 작용기전에 대해서는 밝혀진 바가 없다. 본 연구에서는 위암 AGS 세포주에 대한 증식 억제작용 및 그 기전을 살펴보았다. TCA는 농도의존적으로 AGS 세포의 생존율을 억제하였다. AGS 세포 형태로 보아 TCA에 의한 세포사멸을 확인할 수 있었다. 그 기전을 확인하기 위하여, 세포사멸 관련 단백질의 발현양을 조사한 결과, TCA는 p53과 Bax의 단백질 발현을 증가시켰다. 또한, 분절된 caspase 9 및 PARP 의 발현이 증가되는 것으로부터 TCA가 AGS 세포주의 세포사멸을 유도하였음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구결과로부터 TCA가 위암에 대한 항암 활성이 있음을 확인하였으며, 추후 지속적인 연구를 통해 항암제 후보물질로 기대된다.

        The present study was conducted in a goat farm for pregnancy diagnosis by using vaginal cytology and B-mode real time ultrasound using 5 MHz probe by transabdominal method. Seventeen pregnant does were used for this study. The objective of the study was to determine the earliest day of pregnancy and describe the chronological characteristics of pregnancy from day 22 to day 40 for vaginal cytology and day 25 to day 60 for ultrasonography of gestation. The differences among the average percentage of cell value in different age of pregnancy were significant (p < 0.05). The average percentage of intermediate cells (81.12%) was also significantly (p < 0.05) higher than superficial (9.41%), keratinized (7.10%) and neutrophil (2.61%) on 22-40th days of pregnancy. In case of real time B-mode ultrasonography, the gestational sac was observed only in three does out of seventeen (17.6 %) at 25-30 days whereas the placentomes and heart beat of the foetus were first detected at 31-35 days in six does (35.3%). The foetal leg buds were first visualized at 36-40 days in four does (23.5%) whereas the foetal vertebral column was first observed at 36-40 days of gestation in only three does (17.6%). In conclusion, vaginal cytology and trans-abdominal ultrasonography can be used for detection of early pregnancy in does.

        The trans-differentiation potential of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is employed, but there is little understanding of the cell source-dependent trans-differentiation potential of MSCs into corneal epithelial cells. In the present study, we induced trans-differentiation of MSCs derived from umbilical cord matrix (UCM-MSCs) and from dental tissue (D-MSCs), and we comparatively evaluated the in vitro trans-differentiation properties of both MSCs into corneal epithelial-like cells. Specific cell surface markers of MSC (CD44, CD73, CD90, and CD105) were detected in both UCM-MSCs and D-MSCs, but MHCII and CD119 were significantly lower (P < 0.05) in UCM-MSCs than in D-MSCs. In UCM-MSCs, not only expression levels of Oct3/4 and Nanog but also proliferation ability were significantly higher (P < 0.05) than in D-MSCs. In vitro differentiation abilities into adipocytes and osteocytes were confirmed for both MSCs. UCM-MSCs and D-MSCs were successfully trans-differentiated into corneal epithelial cells, and expression of lineage-specific markers (Cytokeratin-3, -8, and -12) were confirmed in both MSCs using immunofluorescence staining and qRT-PCR analysis. In particular, the differentiation capacity of UCM-MSCs into corneal epithelial cells was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than that of D-MSCs. In conclusion, UCM-MSCs have higher differentiation potential into corneal epithelial-like cells and have lower expression of CD119 and MHC class II than D-MSCs, which makes them a better source for the treatment of corneal opacity.

        Plant essential oils (EOs) exhibit an array of biological activities against insect pests. However, their negative influences on the pheromonal activity of azuki bean beetle (ABB), Callosobruchus chinensis L., the field-to-storage pest of legumes, have not received research attentions. We evaluated the effects of three EOs and their two major components on the attractiveness of male ABBS to synthetic homofarnesal (2E- : 2Z-homofarnesal = 6:4) using Y-tube olfactometry in laboratory and rocket traps in the semi-open vinyl house. The tested EOs of Illicium verum, Croton anisatum and Gaultheria fragrantissima as well as the major components, trans-anethole and methyl salicylate ascertained significant negative effect against homofarnesal both in Y-tube olfactometry and in semi-open vinyl house tracing out a new opportunity of integrating them in ABB management programs both in field and storage.

        It is noted that chalcone derivatives have characteristic diverse pharmacological properties, and that precise evidence has been growing that they could regulate a tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) induced insulin resistance. The purpose of the present investigation is to elucidate the effects of the identified chalcone derivatives on adipogenesis, and to find the underlying mechanism of action in that case. Consequently, we first investigated whether the chalcone derivatives could affect the identified PPARγ-induced transcriptional activity on the proliferator-activated receptor response elements (PPRE) at target promoters, and find that trans-chalcone most significantly increased the PPARγ -induced transcriptional activity. Additionally, we confirmed that there were up-regulatory effects of trans-chalcone during the adipogenesis and lipid accumulation, and on the mRNA of adipogenic factors in 3T3-L1 cells. Next, we examined the effect of trans-chalcone on the inhibition induced by TNF-α on adipogenesis. To that end, we noted that the treatment with trans-chalcone attenuated the effect of TNF-α mediated secretion of various adipokines that are involved in insulin sensitivity. For this reason, we noted that this study clearly demonstrates that trans-chalcone enhanced adipogenesis, in part, by its potent effect on PPARγ activation and by its reverse effect on TNF-α.

        이 논문은 예이츠, 아오키, 그리고 피카소를 트랜스 미학의 표현으로 관 찰하고자 한다. 이 두 사람을 연구하기 위해서 입체파와 라파엘 전파라는 두 맥락을 살피려고 하는데, 후자는 영국의 운동이다. 라파엘 전파에 영향을 받은 예이츠는 비교 적 잘 조사되고 알려진 것에 비해서 일본의 큰 화가(시인)인 쉬게루 아오키는 일본 밖 에서는 거의 알려진 게 없다. 라파엘 전파운동이 영국에서 일어난 운동인 것을 감안하 면 20세초 일본의 한 화가기 이 운동에 깊은 관심을 가졌다는 사실은 상당히 놀랍다. 더구나, 두 사람은 이 미학으로 자신의 나라의 대표적 작가가 되었다는 것이다.

        Temperature correction trans-membrane pressure (TC-TMP) is frequently used as a fouling index in membrane water treatment plants. TC-TMP equation is derived based on an assumption that the total membrane resistance (i.e. the sum of the intrinsic membrane resistance and fouling resistance) is not affected by temperature. This work verified the validity of this assumption using microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes with and without fouling. The foulants used in the work were kaolin (inorganic) and humic acid (organic). The intrinsic resistances of MF and UF membranes remains at constant values regardless of temperature change. When the same amount of foulants were accumulated on the membrane, inorganic fouling resistance with kaolin was constant regardless of temperature change while organic fouling resistance with humic acid decreased at higher temperatures, which means that TC-TMP cannot be used as a fouling index when organic fouling occurs in a real field application. Since TC-TMP underestimates the amount of fouling at higher temperatures, more attention should be necessary in the operation of membrane water treatment plant in a hotter season like summer.

        “The rise of China” is a critical issue of the twenty-first century’s world politics. China is leading the new bipolar system in the post-Cold War period with the US. As the American dominance in East Asia became weaker, the old containment could not be fully implemented anymore. As a result, a new comprehensive strategic initiative covering the whole Pacific coastal States is being adopted. The outcome of this transformation is the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which was reached on October 5, 2015. This article aims to analyze the newly arisen TPP as a post-Cold War strategic alliance of East Asia. The TPP is a mega regional trade agreement. Its predictable legal setting is thus indispensable for the peaceful coordination of competition between both sides. The TPP could be a firm ground for the stability of this region, sharing the vision of cooperation, not confrontation in the future.

        유럽사법재판소(ECJ)가 2015년 10월 미국 -EU 간 세이프하버 제도를 무효라고 판결하였 다. 동 판결에 따라 이제 미국 기업들은 이용자들 로부터 개별적인 동의를 얻는 등의 다른 방안을 강구해야 한다. EU 회원국 국민의 개인정보를 미 국으로 이전하는데 왜 이러한 절차가 있는 것인 가? 그것은 EU와 미국의 개인정보 보호 수준이 다르기 때문이다. 이러한 상황에서 개인정보 국외 이전의 규제는 규제회피를 막는 기능을 한다. 아 울러 정보주체에게 국외이전에 따른 위험을 고지 하고 그 여부를 스스로 결정할 수 있도록 한다. 이 는 EU-미국 간으로 한정되는 논의가 아니다. 우 리나라에서도 수많은 사람들이 다국적 인터넷 기 업의 서비스를 이용하며, 우리 국민의 개인정보가 매일 마다 국외로 이전되고 있다. 우리나라 개인 정보 관련법들도 국외이전을 규제한다. 그러나 규정이 애매하여 해석상 논란을 일으키는 대목이 많 다. 우리법체계의 가장 큰 문제는 모든 책임을 정 보주체 개인에 지운다는 점이다. 어느 개인이 자 신의 개인정보가 이전되는 특정 국가의 규제 수준 을 알 수 있겠는가. 관계당국이 개인정보가 적절 히 보호되는 제3국을 조사하여 고시하고, 그러한 국가로의 이전은 통상의 제3자 제공과 같은 절차 만 준수하면 되도록 제도를 개선하여야 한다. 정 보주체의 프라이버시는 실질적으로 보호하고, 사 업자들의 규제 부담은 줄이는 길이다.

        For a long time, Chinese characters have been considered merely as a tool for recording the spoken language. However, in certain contexts, Chinese characters can also convey trans-glossematic information, e.g. information incompatible with the character that is used to record its glosseme can be conveyed by some component of the character or simply by the form of the character; information that is not within the semantic category of the corresponding glosseme can be conveyed by an altered character. In fact, Chinese characters, consisting of a set of plane symbols, function as a self-contained whole, which work well with the Chinese language and keep their own features at the same time. Because of this trans-glossematic communication function, Chinese characters are not a mere copy of the Chinese language. On the contrary, they can convey messages on their own when needed. This trans-glossematic function is determined by the origin and structural features of Chinese characters. In the very beginning, the lack of correspondence between characters and glossemes, as well as the principle of representing an object by a character form that resembles it, influenced the way people understood and used the characters. The structural feature of Chinese characters, i.e. the planar composition of the characters, has rendered the alternation of characters and the separation of components possible. Therefore, there are a diversity of ways to express meaning with Chinese characters: by using just the form of a character, piecing or separating components, re-analyzing characters, adding or reducing strokes, moving strokes, or altering character forms. Expression through the use of character forms and structures is a special rhetorical device. Here we call it the rhetoric of Chinese characters.

        Purpose : Recently, the eye disease associated with ultraviolet radiation were reported. In this study, the UV-block hydrophilic soft contact lens using 2-ethylhexyl trans-4-methoxy-cinnamate were manufactured and the optical properties of copolymerized materials were measured. Methods: The basic hydrophilic soft contact lens material with addition of Dhb(2,4-dihydroxy benzophenone) 0.5% ~ 1.0%, Thb(2,4,4-trihydroxy benzophenone) 0.5% ~ 1.0% and Hmb(2-hydroxy-4-methoxy benzophenone) 0.5% ~ 1.0% respectively were polymerized and the hydrophilic soft contact lens were manufactured by cast mould method. The lenses were stored in a 0.9% NaCl normal saline for analysis. Results: In the measurement of DHB samples, the optical transmittance showed the UV-B transmittance of 2.1 ~ 4.3%, UV-A transmittance of 19.0 ~ 27.2% and visible transmittance 88.8 ~ 90.1%. And also, in the case of THB samples, the optical transmittance of UV-B, UV-A and visible transmittance was 2.0 ~ 2.4%, 13.6 ~ 18.8% and 89.5 ~ 90.9%, respectively. Also, in the case of HMB samples, the optical transmittance of UV-B, UV-A and visible transmittance was 4.0 ~ 12.3%, 22.5~37.2% and 87.9 ~ 89.2%, respectively. Conclusions: Based on the results of this study, 2-ethylhexyl trans-4-methoxy-cinnamate with benzophenone materials were suitable for use as a material to UV-block hydrophilic lens.

        The multilateralization of international investment law has witnessed repeated disappointments over the past six decades. Current negotiations regarding the Investment Chapter within the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement may bring about a new promise for this process. It is necessary for the TPP negotiating parties to have a proper understanding of this recent history. Circumstances under which the TPP negotiations are conducted are quite different from those of the past. Thus, it can be assumed that TPP negotiations will be concluded successfully and may have profound implications on the multilateralization of international investment law. Since TPP negotiations have multilateral consequences, several new initiatives have been proposed amongst the TPP negotiating parties, which may help alleviate the ‘legitimacy crisis’ of the past two decades. These initiatives include a new principle of Special and Differential treatment, operative provisions on investment promotion, a Side Agreement on code of conduct of transnational corporations, and an appellate mechanism for reviewing arbitral awards.

        An assessment was made of beta-site amyloid precursor protein (APP) cleaving enzyme (BACE1) inhibitory, feeding, climbing activities and lifespan of the diarylalkyls curcumin (CCN), demethoxycurcumin (DCCN) and bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDCCN) identified in the rhizomes of Curcuma longa. Based on IC50 values, BDCCN (0.024 mM) was the most inhibitory constituent, followed by DCCN (0.31 mM) and CCN (0.59 mM). Overall the three curcuminoids were significantly less inhibitory than BACE1 inhibitor IV isophthalamide (8.5 × 10-5 mM). The expression of human APP and BACE1 in compound eye of Drosophila melangaster presented rough abnormal ommatidial lattice. Co-expression of APP and BACE1 within the developing nervous system of drosophila showed climbing defects. These transgenic flies kept on media containing 1 mM of CCN and BDCCN were observed to ameliorate eye degeneration, significantly suppress locomotive dysfunctions, and increase media life time, as well as isophthalamide. CCN and BDCCN as human BACE1 inhibitory constituents may be used as potential therapeutics or lead molecules to develop Alzheimer's disease treatment drugs.
