        The psychosocial stress and musculoskeletal disorders(MSDs) have been one of major health problems for hospital workers. This study tried to understand the relationship between symptoms associated with MSDs and risk factors such as working posture, job stress, psychosocial stress and fatigue. A total number of 655 hospital workers participated in this study. Specifically, REBA was applied for evaluating working posture and a checklist prepared by KOSHA(Korean Occupational Safety and Health Agency) was used for symptom survey. A questionnaire from KOSHA was also used for collecting data associated with job stress, psychosocial stress and fatigue. All these data were formulated and modeled by path analysis which was one of major statistical tools in this study. Specifically, path analysis for the data we collected came up with several major findings. The risk scores from working posture based on REBA had indirect effects via fatigue factor(MFS) as well as direct effects on symptoms. The factors associated with job stress(KOSS) and psychosocial stress(PWI-SF) had significant effects on symptoms. Specifically, indirect effect of job stress factors via fatigue factors(MFS) had bigger than that of direct effect of job stress on symptom.

        This study created a computerized information system of the collected job analysis data and analyzed the computerized job analysis data to derive critical job factors. Based on the ratings on each critical job factor, possible employment opportunities for the various types of disability could be derived according to the match between job condition and handicap condition. The results can be utilized by the Employment and Vocational Training Administration to expand both the counselor and counselee's perspectives about job possibilities and job requirements.

        There are many display panels in the flight cockpit and pilots get various flight information from those displays. The ergonomic layout of the displays must be determined based upon frequency of use and sequence of use. This study investigated the visual search patterns of the six display groups(one head-up-display: HUD, two multi function displays: MFDs, one engine group: EG, one flight display group: FD and others) in a fighting aircraft. Four expert pilots conducted Imaginary flight in the physical mock-up and the eye movements were collected using eye tracking system. Data of dwell time, frequency of use, and eye movement path were collected. Pilots spent most of time on HUD(55.2%), and others (21.6%), FD(14.2%), right MFD(4.7%), EG(3.2%), and left MFD(1.1%) in descending order. Similarly HUD(42.8%) and others(30.0%) were the most frequently visited displays. These data can be used in the layout of cockpit displays and the determination of optimal visual search pattern.

        The goal of this study is to investigate the ergonomic factors in designing or selecting the hand tool handle. Electromyogram (EMG) were measured for various wrist postures and handle sizes under two loading conditions. Anthropometric data were measured and the correlation with EMG measurement data were analyzed. Investigations of this study show that wrist posture should be neutral for minimum muscle tension and optimum handle size can be found by measuring the EMG measurement data. It show that hand width and EMG measurement data is greatly correlated also. This study can be a guide of designing or selecting a hand tool, but further study with large sample sizes and various groups is needed for making general conclusion.

        기술의 발전에 따라 다양한 항해 계기들이 개발되고 있으나, 인간 과실에 의한 해양사고는 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 따라서 사고를 감소시키기 위해 항해 장비들을 인간공학적으로 배치하고 설계하는 것이 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 이러한 흐름에 각 국의 선급 및 해운 관련 기구에서는 인간공학적 개념을 적용한 통합선교시스템(Integrated Bridge System : IBS)에 대한 규정을 마련하고 있으며, IBS는 인간 과실로 인한 해양사고를 감소시키기 위한 설계와 정보의 제공을 중심으로 발전 할 것으로 예상된다. IBS의 일환으로, 선박 운항 시 항행정보를 하나의 모니터에 보여주는 Conning Display는 선교 근무자가 필요한 정보를 얻기 위해 취하는 부수적인 행동, 시간 등을 단축시킨다. 그러나 Conning Display 설계에 있어 표준화된 규범이 없으므로 객관적 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 설문조사와 스케치 기법, 휴리스틱 평가 등의 방법들을 통해 Conning Display의 인간공학적 설계를 위한 요소를 추출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 새로운 Conning Display를 제작하여 기존 fouling Display와 비교, 평가 실험을 실시하였다. 본 논문의 결과를 통해 향후 더 나은 Conning Display를 설계, 개발하는데 있어 인간공학적 지표를 제시하고 하나의 표본으로 사용될 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.

        Depending on the nature of a product, a design process for an ergonomic product follows a series of simple or complex stages. This paper suggested a rather practical and simple design process consisting of eight stages, i.e. design needs assessment, ergonomic guidelines, anthropometry, brainstorming and idea sketch, preliminary model, drafting and rendering, working prototype, and user trials. The feasibility of this design process was verified by applying it to the development of a modified clamping hand tool handle. The case study showed how ergonomics played a role and how ergonomists overcame design difficulties by integrating good ergonomic design practices.

        The goal of this study is to propose the improved scheme that prevents the workers against musculoskeletal disorders at a fishcake manufacturing company, A questionnaire and an ergonomic assessment method were adopted to analyze the symptoms of workers' musculoskeletal disorders, and an analysis of working postures and a quantitative assessment on various processes were performed to find out harmful factors of workplace. Based on the result of the evaluation, to enhance the working environment, improvement of worktable, working space, tools, and outfit was suggested, and induction of mechanical system was also suggested. Suggested improvement plan was applied to the workplace step by step and it is confirmed that improvement plan can removes the injurious factors of musculoskeletal diseases effectively.

        선박의 항해 계기들의 기술이 발전됨에 따라 많은 장비들이 개발되고 있으나 여전히 인간과실에 의한 해양 사고는 지속적으로 발생하고 있는 현실에서, 인간과실에 의한 사고를 감소시키기 위하여 선교의 항해 계기들은 인간공학적적으로 배치, 설계되었는지가 많은 관심의 대상이 되고 있다 선교 내 여러 계기들의 알람장치는 선교 근무자에게 그 알람 장치가 주고자 하는 정보를 가능한 빨리 인식하고 정확한 정보를 전달할 수 있도록 설계되어야 하며, 국제적으로 인간공학적 선교를 위한 알람장치(Bridge Alarm Management System : BAMS)의 필요성이 논의 되고 있으나 아직 실질적인 설계방법 등에 대해서는 논의가 이루어지고 있지 않다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 선박의 여러 설비 중 선교의 알람장치에 관한 인간공학적 개념의 설계에 대하여 알아보고 현재 개발, 운용 중인 인간공학적 통합선교시스템(Integrated Bridge System :IBS)의 선교통합알람장치(Ergonomic Integrated Bridge Alarm Management System : EIBAMS)에 관한 개념적인 설계를 제안하고자 한다.

        A standardized ergonomics kit is suggested to evaluate and reduce musculoskeletal hazards that yield large socioeconomic burdens in the work system. This kit comprises basic and detailed analysis tools with proper tool selection rules. The basic tool includes a checklist for various risk factors to screen potentially hazardous jobs among manual works. Selective detailed analysis tools can then be applied to the screened job lists for more quantitative and precise evaluation. The tool selection rules are devised for using the basic and detailed analysis tools in a mutually supplemental way. To validate the standardized ergonomics kit, it was applied to evaluate jobs related to the musculoskeletal hazards in a paper-making industry. Among 101 manual jobs investigated, 44 potential hazardous jobs were screened during basic investigation phase and finally 16 hazardous jobs were identified by the detailed analysis phase. The result provided fairly promising ideas of ergonomic interventions for the hazardous jobs.

        It is known that most people have a dominant eye, even though each of their two eyes in isolation may provide equal vision. In this study, 600 Korean male and female subjects aging from 11 to 78 were selected to investigate the various statistics about eye dominance( whether the left or right eye is dominant} in Korean and their employment characteristics of preferred eye in sighting diverse things. A simple sighting test was applied such that subjects are requested to aim a distance target through small hole in B4 sized paper with both eyes open. The dominant eye was determined by alternate occlusion: when viewing with the dominant eye into the hole is aligned with the target, whereas when viewing with the other eye into the hole appears offset to one side. The descriptive statistics showed that 83.7% and 16.3% were right and left eye dominant respectively. Moreover, various statistical analysis revealed that general tendency of eye dominance was varied by age, gender, hand dominance and visual acuity. It was thus found from these results that people sighting their eyes differently depending on the eye dominance when they sight things.

        The purpose of this study is to find injurious factors and to propose an improvement plan on workers' musculoskeletal disorders at a bakery workplace through analyzing the symptom, work posture and quantitative estimate. For this study, a survey and ergonomic estimate methods were adopted. According to the survey, it was analyzed that 429 workers corresponding to 68.2% of the response have been experienced the symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders such as an ache, prickle and numbness. The result of QEC analysis shows that shoulder and waist are highly exposed to musculoskeletal disease. The result of RULA analysis shows that injurious factors of muscle, weight and repeated operations are a little higher than those of operation posture. The result of SI estimate shows that pre-treatment of making bread requiring highly repeated operation gets the highest point of 81, on the other hand, chocolate-coating job requiring relatively low speed and short time gets the point of 4.5. Based on the analyzed results, improvement plan to prevent the musculoskeletal disorders against injurious working process of a bakery workplace.         This study concerns with an ergonomic approach for improving the workplace of an air-conditioner factory. If work tasks and equipments do not include ergonomic principles in their design, workers may have exposure to undue physical stress, strain, and overexertion, including awkward postures, forceful exertions, repetitive motion, and heavy lifting. The purpose of this study is to improve the safety, comfort, and efficiency of the workplace. Adapting tasks, work stations, tools, and equipments to fit the worker can help reduce physical stress on a worker's body and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of workplace.

        Recently, both management and labor are interested in the increasing ratio of musculoskeletal disorders. And the developed countries make efforts to consider a counterplan such as prevention activity of musculoskeletal disorders and application possibility of ergonomic program, because musculoskeletal disorders take large portion out of occupational disease. Especially, small and medium enterprises have bigger problems due to the inferior work condition and environment in comparison with big businesses. This study is to introduce developed countries' cases such as WISE(Work Improvement in Small Enterprises) and OSHA Handbook for Small Businesses and to suggest the program of ergonomic management for small and medium enterprises having comparative difficulties against big businesses in improving work environment and managing ergonomic operations.

        The prevention of accidents or diseases is one of the most profitable activities in any business. The useful tools to diagnose existing safety problems and to systematically guide the improvement of those deficiencies have been developed in the world.
