        전 세계적으로 실도로에서의 자율주행차 안전성능을 검증하고 자율주행 시스템 기술의 개발을 위해 다양한 실증을 수행하고 있다. 미국의 경우 캘리포니아, 오하이오, 애리조나 등 다양한 주에서 자율주행차의 실도로 테스트를 진행하고 있으며, 독일의 경우 페가수 스 및 이매진 프로젝트 등을 통해 자율주행 성능 및 협력 운행 테스트를 수행하였다. 그러나, 자율주행차의 주행 성능 측면의 평가에 국한되어 실증이 진행되고 있다는 한계가 존재한다. 실도로 환경에서 자율주행차는 비자율주행차, 보행자 및 자전거 등과 상호작용하 며, 다양한 도로 기하구조에서 주행안전성 저하 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 혼재교통상황에서 자율주행차의 주행 안전성을 저하시키는 도로 기하구조를 도출하였다. 또한, 캘리포니아 Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)에서 제시한 자율주행차 관련 사고자료 검토를 통해 유사한 도로 기하구조에서 발생할 수 있는 사고 유형을 검토함으로써 선제적인 대안을 마련하고자 한다. 시뮬 레이션 분석을 위한 자율주행차 거동구현의 경우 real-world automated vehicle data (AVD) 기반 주행행태 분석을 통해 VISSIM 파라미 터를 조정하였다. 위험구간 도출을 위해 평가지표를 선정하고 주행안전성 분석을 수행하였으며, 위험 구간의 도로 기하구조의 특성을 도출하였다. 마지막으로 위험구간의 도로 기하구조와 유사한 구간에서 발생한 실제 자율주행차 관련 사고 보고서를 검토함으로써 본 연구에서 도출된 위험구간의 도로 기하구조에서 발생할 수 있는 잠재적 사고 원인을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 향후 자율주 행차의 실도로 도입을 위해 선제적인 대책을 마려하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있으며, 나아가 자율주행차 안전성 향상을 위한 경고 정보 서비스 개발, 정보 제공 인프라 설치 우선순위, 도로 기하구조 개선 사업에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

        PURPOSES : This study aims to understand the characteristics of accidents involving autonomous vehicles and derive the causes of accidents from road spatial information through autonomous vehicle accident reports. METHODS : For this study, autonomous vehicle accident reports collected and managed by the CA DMV were used as data sources. In addition, spatial characteristics and geometric data for accident locations were extracted by Google maps. Based on the collected data, the study conducted general statistics, text embedding, and cross-analysis to understand the overall characteristics of autonomous vehicle accidents and their relationship with road spatial features. RESULTS : The analysis results for characteristics of autonomous vehicle accidents, applying statistical analysis and text embedding techniques, reveal that the damages caused by autonomous vehicle accidents are often minor, and approximately half of the accidents are triggered by other vehicles. It is noteworthy that accidents where autonomous vehicles are at fault are not uncommon, and when the cause of the accident is within the autonomous vehicle, the accident risk can increase. The accident analysis results using spatial data showed that the severity of accidents increases when on-street parking is present, when dedicated lanes for bicycles and buses exist, and when bus stops are present. CONCLUSIONS : Through this study, geometric and spatial elements that appear to have an impact on autonomous driving systems have been identified. The findings of this study are expected to serve as foundational data for improving the safety of autonomous vehicle operations in the future.

        The influence of specimen geometry and notch on the hydrogen embrittlement of an SA372 steel for pressure vessels was investigated in this study. A slow strain-rate tensile (SSRT) test after the electrochemical hydrogen charging method was conducted on four types of tensile specimens with different directions, shapes (plate, round), and notches. The plate-type specimen showed a significant decrease in hydrogen embrittlement resistance owing to its large surface-to-volume ratio, compared to the round-type specimen. It is well established that most of the hydrogen distributes over the specimen surface when it is electrochemically charged. For the round-type specimens, the notched specimen showed increased hydrogen susceptibility compared with the unnotched one. A notch causes stress concentration and thus generates lots of dislocations in the locally deformed regions during the SSRT test. The solute hydrogen weakens the interactions between these dislocations by promoting the shielding effect of stress fields, which is called hydrogen-enhanced localized plasticity mechanisms. These results provide crucial insights into the relationship between specimen geometry and hydrogen embrittlement resistance.

        Submarining is a phenomenon in that the lap belt goes over the pelvis of the occupant during a frontal crash. It is known to be one of the causes of serious abdominal injuries for the belted occupant. The goal of the current study was to investigate the effect of both the belt geometry and dummy variations on the occurrence of submarining. A series of quasi-static belt-pull tests were performed to evaluate the influence of the parameters on the occurrence of the submarining. The main influencing factor of the submarining was the lap belt angle. The tear or wrinkle of the dummy clothing and torso angle relative to the pelvis also affected the propensity of the submarining. Therefore, these parameters need to be closely monitored to obtain repeatable test results.

        PURPOSES : The purpose of this study was to analyze the visibility of lanes according to the changes in the plane and longitudinal line of roads considering the horizontal and vertical diffusion angles of vehicle headlights at night. First, the visibility length of the lane was determined according to the plane linearity of the road such that it could be applied to simulation and visualization data. Second, the night vision length of the lane was established according to the longitudinal line of the road such that it could be applied to the simulation and visualization data. METHODS : In this study, each variable is first examined to consider the horizontal and vertical diffusion angles of the vehicle headlights. Second, the equation for the visibility of the lane by vehicle headlights in planar linearity is obtained, and the visibility of the lane is determined. Third, an equation is obtained for the visibility of the lane by vehicle headlights in longitudinal linearity. RESULTS : The results of this study are as follows. First, the visibility length of the lane in the section where the plane linearity of the highway existed at night was studied. In this case, the visibility length of the right and left lanes based on the vehicle decreased according to the plane linearity of the highway. Second, the visibility length of the lane in the section where the longitudinal line of the highway existed at night was investigated. In this case, the visibility length of the lane decreased according to the change in the longitudinal line of the highway. CONCLUSIONS : Considering the horizontal and vertical diffusion angles, the visibility length of the lane was determined according to the changes in the plane and vertical line of the road. It can be applied to simulation and visualization data. In general, the visibility length considering the spread angle of the vehicle headlights was shorter than the visibility length of the lane by the headlights; roads must be designed in consideration with the above result.

        During normal and off-normal conditions, the concrete structures of dry storage system for spent nuclear fuel must maintain structural integrity. A stress-strain curve is the most important key factor for structural integrity evaluation. The ASTM C39 specifies the concrete specimen geometry for the static compression test. However, there is no standard specimen size for intermediate stain rate, and it is not easy to maintain consistency among all test results because the failure tendency is different from each other. In order to account for the strain rate effects on concrete, the dynamic increase factor (DIF) is conventionally addressed by dividing dynamic strength by static strength. However, the DIF value considers only the strength of concrete and does not describe the overall behavior of concrete, such as a stress-strain relation. The objective of this study is to propose proper specimen geometry for the concrete dynamic compression test by several parametric study. The static compression simulation results with the specimen specified in ASTM C39 showed the constant strain distribution in a cylindrical specimen. However, as the strain rate increases, the strain state in specimen showed a nonuniform with the same geometry of ASTM C39. The non-uniform strain state in the specimen deteriorates the consistency and accuracy of the compression test. Therefore, we presented the specimen shape and size to form a uniform strain state through radial direction by drilling a hole in the axial direction. We analyzed two specimens using ABAQUS with the concrete damaged plasticity model, one with a hole at the center and the other without the hole. As a result, the strain distribution became more uniform than the specimen without the hole. Based on the results, we proposed the specimen shape and size for the intermediate strain rate compression test.

        영양은 모든 생명활동의 근본이며, 생물의 진화적 적응도를 결정하는 가장 중요한 요인이다. 곤충영양학은 곤충생리학의 전통적인 연구영 역이며, 최근 산업곤충의 대량사육 필요성이 증가함에 따라 그 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고, 곤충의 영양현상을 정확히 이해하기란 어려운데, 이는 영양의 다변량적 특성, 영양소 간의 교호작용 등으로 설명되는 영양적 복잡성에 기인한다. 영양기하학(Nutritional Geometry)은 이러한 난점을 극복하기 위해 고안된 통합적이고 다차원적인 분석모형으로서, 최근 곤충영양학이 급격하게 발전할 수 있는 이론적 및 실험적 기반을 제공하였다. 본 종설은 영양기하학의 기본개념을 소개하고, 이러한 방법론이 어떻게 최근 곤충영양학의 급속한 학문적 진보를 가능케 하였는지, 그리고 영양이 어떻게 생리학, 생태학, 진화생물학을 통합하는 구심점이 될 수 있었는지를, 최신 연구사례를 중심으로 살펴볼 것이다. 또한 본 종설은 향후 영양기하학을 적용함으로써 발전할 가능성이 높은 연구분야를 고찰할 것이다.

        The bead geometry according to the welding conditions was analyzed through the laser fillet welding experiment of 9% Ni steel, and the relationship between the shear strength and the five bead geometry measured by selecting the main bead geometry of the fillet weld was analyzed. Among the welding conditions, the welding conditions that directly affect the penetration depth are welding speed and laser power, and the working angle and beam position have a great influence on the formation of leg of vertical and horizontal members. The bead shape, which greatly affects the shear strength, is the horizontal member length, neck thickness, and weld length, and has a proportional relationship with the shear strength. As a result of confirming the relationship between shear strength and bead shape through the derivation of the trend line, it was confirmed that the length of the vertical member, whose R2 value was 0.92, was most closely related to the shear strength.

        High-performance vehicles with V6 or higher are designed with a dual exhaust system to satisfy both performance and quietness at the same time, and have a confluence geometry for the purpose of stably maintaining the back pressure inside the pipe. The exhaust system generates noise and vibration under the influence of the rotating engine. In particular, in a state such as idling, vibration occurs in a certain frequency range, which may affect the natural vibration of the exhaust system. Therefore, in this study, the optimal shape is proposed by comparing the ignition frequency calculated based on the vibration measurement result in the idle state and the numerical analysis result.

        A basic metal deposition experiment for manufacturing aluminum parts was performed using WAAM (Wire arc additive manufacturing), and the cross-sectional shape of the laminate according to nine deposition conditions. The effect of heat input was analyzed for the bead shape according to the deposition conditions, and the deposition efficiency was calculated by analyzing the cross-sectional shape of thin-wall parts made of aluminum. The amount of heat input was used in the experiment from about 2.7 kJ/cm to 4.5 kJ/cm, and the closer the heat input was to 4.5kJ/cm, the higher the deposition efficiency was. The maximum lamination efficiency obtained through this study reached 76%.

        In recent years, studies on various 3D scanner applications, including those on quality control and reverse engineering, have been conducted in the shipbuilding industry. Appropriate scanner selection, scanning environment setting by targets, and data postprocessing are essential for effective 3D scanning projects for small crafts. In this study, a non-contact handheld-type 3D scanner was used for molds and hull products for the 10– 30-ft class of small crafts. Small crafts have fewer geometric features and several glare surfaces; thus, anti-glare and texture feature addition preprocessing is critical. The 3D scanning results are used for geometry quality control of single panels and curved surfaces in craft hulls. Consequently, international rule-based weight estimation calculation sheets have been developed and applied for product weight quality control.

        본 연구에서는 복부대동맥류가 발생한 환자들에서의 연령과 복부대동맥류 형상에 따른 벽 응력과 파열 위험성을 평가하였다. 복부 대동맥류의 형상은 의료영상 데이터로부터 추출되어 모사되었으며, 재료 물성치 단계에서는 동맥 조직의 이방성 초탄성 성질을 모사 하기 위해 Gasser-Ogden-Holzapfel 모델을 적용하였다. 또한, 모델에서 필요한 각 재료 정수들은 환자들의 연령과 정상 조직 및 동맥 류 조직의 특성들을 고려하기 위하여 각기 다른 값들로 산정되었다. 게다가 복부대동맥류에서의 대동맥 직경과 목의 각도에 관한 상 관관계를 분석하고, 이에 대한 시리즈 시뮬레이션 역시 수행되었다. 그 결과, 복부대동맥류 환자의 연령과 대동맥 직경, 그리고 대동 맥 목의 각도에 따른 복부대동맥류의 파열 위험성이 평가되었다.

        Microbubble is a part of advanced water treatment technologies, and there are several ways for microbubble generation. A strategy using Venturi (convergent-divergent) nozzle with air-suction holes has advantage of energy and time saving compared with the others. Here, we used 3D printer to make the various nozzle geometries in order to understand two-phase flow in the Venturi nozzle and air-breaking mechanism. It was evaluated the effects of convergent and divergent angles independently on air-suction rate and pressure drop, and the two-phase flow (air bubbles and liquid water) were observed. The convergent angle strongly affect the air-suction rate corresponding with increase of pressure drop. Meanwhile, as the divergent angle increased, it became dominant the minor loss by sudden enlargement of flow area, so that the air-suction rate and pressure drop showed decreased.

        본 연구의 목적은 오래전부터 한국인이 애용해 온 기본 도형을 분석하여 의미와 상징성을 밝히고 그 유형을 분류하는 것이다. 선조들은 원, 네모, 세모 형태를 선호하였는데 한글에 ‘ㅇ, ㅁ, ㅅ’가 존재하는 사실이 이를 뒷받침한다. 이를 위해 고조선부터 삼국시대에 이르기까지 복식과 유물 등에 나타난 기본 도형을 고찰하였다. 연구방법으로는 도서, 인터넷 및 사진자료 등을 분석하였으며 도자기, 청동기, 복식 등 다양한 곳에 나타난 도형의 연결고리를 찾았다. 그 연구결과 첫째, 원은 하늘, 해, 달, 별, 청동거울, 얼굴 등을 상징하는데 일찍이 천문관측이 발달했던 사실과 원형제단이나 제사장의 표징인 원형 청동거울이 이를 뒷받침한다. 둘째, 땅(地)을 상징하는 것은 네모라고 보았다. 하늘과 땅신에게 모두 제사를 지냈었고 네모는 부족 공동체의 안녕과 풍요를 담은 현실을 의미하는 형태이다. 마름모형이 더 많이 애용되었는데 이는 힘을 상징하는 세모가 두 개나 들어있는 형태이기 때문이라고 추측한다. 셋째, 빗살무늬 토기에서도 나타나지만 뫼 ‘山’과 사람 ‘人’ 및 모자나 마늘의 형태 또는 나 ‘厶’ 등으로부터 세모가 파생되었다고 보는데 하늘, 땅 다음으로 사람이 중요하다는 고대인의 사고에서 발생한 것으로 본다. 아름다운 유산인 기본 도형의 연구를 통해 한국역사의 오랜 전통과 정신을 이해하고 새로운 창조문화로 이어지길 기대한다.

        목적: 레이저굴절교정수술 후 다시 근시가 발생한 근시퇴행안에 역기하디자인하드(reverse geometry rigid gas permeable, RGP) 렌즈로 교정하고, 교정 전과 후 굴절검사 방법에 따른 검사값의 차이를 확인하 였다. 방법: 레이저굴절교정수술 후 양안 또는 단안에 근시퇴행이 발생한 46안(24명, 평균 32.04 ± 4.74세)을 대상으로 굴절이상을 RGP 렌즈로 교정하고 교정 전과 후에 각각 자동굴절검사, 검영법 그리고 자각적굴절 검사를 실시한 후 굴절이상도를 비교하였다. 결과: 레이저각막굴절수술 후 발생된 근시퇴행안에서 자동굴절검사, 검영법 및 자각식굴절검사로 측정한 등가구면굴절이상도는 -2.58 ± 1.23 D, -1.98 ± 1.14 D, -1.93 ± 1.08 D로 유의한 차이가 있었고 (p=0.013), RGP 렌즈 교정 1개월 후에는 각각 -0.98 ± 0.69 D, -0.26 ± 0.69 D, 및 -0.29 ± 0.64 D로 유의한 차이가 있었으며(p=0.000), 자동굴절검사기로 측정한 굴절이상도가 근시 쪽으로 높게 측정되었다. 레이저각막굴절수술 후 근시퇴행안에서 RGP 렌즈 교정 전과 후의 자동굴절검사값과 자각식굴절검사값의 차이는 구면굴절력, 원주굴절력 및 등가구면굴절력값에서 모두 중등도의 상관성을 보였으며, 근시도가 크면 근시도가 작은 경우보다 측정값 차이가 더 큰 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 결론: 자동굴절검사는 정상 안의 예비검사에는 유용하지만, 레이저굴절교정수술 후 근시가 유발된 근시 퇴행안과 RGP 렌즈 착용안의 굴절검사에는 자각식굴절검사가 더 유용하며, 자동굴절검사를 예비검사로 사용할 때에는 측정값에 차이가 있을 수 있다는 점을 고려해야 할 것으로 생각된다.

        This paper suggests a visual debugging plaftorm based on the game engine, Unity3D for massive parallel processing routines implemented in CUDA. In general, it is tiresome to debug or check the accuracy of numerical geometry information results calculated in a parallel way by GPU; usually, developers would pick and check each numerical value by rummaging overwhelming lines of seemingly meaningless numbers. This manual process is less productive and time-consuming. Also, it is not easy to produce some continuous movements of geometry information to check the validity of implemented CUDA codes for realtime geometry processing applications. To solve those problems, this paper presents a way to use Unity3D game engine to visually and interactively debug CUDA implementations. Also, some practical test results are presented with discussions on limitations of Unity3D as a CUDA debugging platform.

        We investigate two abnormal CME-Storm pairs that occurred on 2014 September 10 - 12 and 2015 March 15 - 17, respectively. The first one was a moderate geomagnetic storm (Dstmin  -75 nT) driven by the X1.6 high speed flare-associated CME (1267 km s−1) in AR 12158 (N14E02) near solar disk center. The other was a very intense geomagnetic storm (Dstmin  -223 nT) caused by a CME with moderate speed (719 km s−1) and associated with a filament eruption accompanied by a weak flare (C9.1) in AR 12297 (S17W38). Both CMEs have large direction parameters facing the Earth and southward magnetic field orientation in their solar source region. In this study, we inspect the structure of Interplanetary Flux Ropes (IFRs) at the Earth estimated by using the torus fitting technique assuming self-similar expansion. As results, we find that the moderate storm on 2014 September 12 was caused by small-scale southward magnetic fields in the sheath region ahead of the IFR. The Earth traversed the portion of the IFR where only the northward fields are observed. Meanwhile, in case of the 2015 March 17 storm, our IFR analysis revealed that the Earth passed the very portion where only the southward magnetic fields are observed throughout the passage. The resultant southward magnetic field with long- duration is the main cause of the intense storm. We suggest that 3D magnetic field geometry of an IFR at the IFR-Earth encounter is important and the strength of a geomagnetic storm is strongly affected by the relative location of the Earth with respect to the IFR structure.

        PURPOSES :With the increasing number of older drivers in an aging society, there is a growing need for research and planning on traffic safety for the older drivers using an improved road geometry design. This study also proposed a modified urban road interchange design, which aims to keep the older drivers away from accident-prone and high-traffic areas of the city.METHODS:In this study, we examined accident data records of older drivers to identify accident-prone zones and intersections; we studied the road geometry at these zones and analyzed if it was an underlying cause for higher number of accidents. Based on the research and subsequent analysis, we suggested plans for improvement of road geometry design at these intersections.RESULTS:By studying historic data and analyzing factors that affect the likelihood of accidents of vehicles driven by older drivers and after studying suitable traffic accident prediction models, we identified the major variables that need to be modified at accident-prone intersections, such as the width of a left turn lane at an intersection and the radius of the right turn lane at a street corner. The results have a significance probability of less than 0.001 and a 95% confidence level. To improve safety at the identified intersection, this study suggests the installation of a left-turn-lane-shaped Positive Offset and a right-turn-lane-shaped Slip Lane concept and an adjustment of intervals between intersections.
