This paper aims to analyze the cognitive-semantic properties of Greek preverbs derived from ancient Greek prepositions and proposes a vocabulary teaching method utilizing them. Vocabulary acquisition plays a crucial role in foreign language learning, yet traditional methods often rely on simple interpretation or context-based understanding, leaving learners to fill in knowledge gaps independently through dictionary use. In this study, a method for mastering preverbs derived from ancient Greek prepositions to enhance modern Greek vocabulary is presented. These morphemes, evolved from ancient Greek prepositions into modern Greek preverbs, are paired with various verbs, primarily those with spatial connotations. The focus centers on 15 preverbs: anti-, apo-, dia-, eis-, en-, epi-, kata-, meta-, para-, peri-, pro-, pros-, syn-, yper-, and ypo-. The usage of these preverbs in vocabulary construction is analyzed, and they are employed for instructional purposes. Each preverb’s semantic domain is delineated, accompanied by a schematic representation to aid learners in conceptualization by establishing a central meaning. By engaging in conceptualization, learners can grasp preverb meanings, comprehend new vocabulary utilizing these preverbs, and progressively expand their vocabulary to encompass peripheral meanings associated with each preverb.
After a comprehensive analysis of the meaning of chao (抄) and chaoshou (抄手) as well as depicting the extended series, it can be seen that no later than the tenth century, chao [抄(钞)] which means “picking by fingers” was extended to mean “arched hands salutation” and became the word chaoshou1 (抄手1). At least in the 1260s, the meaning of chao (抄) was infected by cha5 (叉5), and chao (抄) produced chuigong (垂拱, two-handed fork caged in the sleeve) meaning. At least in the first half of the 15th century, the meaning of chaoshou (抄手) was infected by chashou6 (叉手6), and chaoshou (抄手) produced the meaning of “hands crossed over the arms in front of the chest”; Between the 16th and 19th centuries, due to its prominent image characteristics, chaoshou3 (抄手3), which means “hands crossed over the arms in front of the chest”, had metonymic extended into a flour made food chaoshou4 (抄手4). The transmission path of the chaoshou4 (抄手4): Sichuan, Chongqing (do not distinguish which is the cradle) > Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Hubei (do not distinguish the order). Under the dominant role of the implicit meaning of the chaoshou2 (抄手2), as the homomorphic word of the root word chaoshou4 (抄手4), maichaoshou4 (賣抄手4) reassembled: the meaning of maichaoshou4 (賣抄手4) evolved from “selling flour made food chaoshou (抄手)” into maichaoshou2 (賣抄手2, having nothing to do), resulting in the local characteristic maichaoshou2 (賣抄手2). As a phenomenon of word meaning development with backtracking characteristics, the emergence of maichaoshou2 (賣抄手2) deserves attention.
This article explores the different meanings of the number ‘three’ in proverbs. According to the analysis of this article, the number ‘three’ in proverbs, while carrying the basic meaning of quantity, has more expanded meanings in Korean, Chinese and Japanese proverbs, where it may mean ‘many’, ‘all (whole)’, ‘part’, ‘small’, and even more abstracted concepts. In contrast, the number ‘three’ in the English proverbs is largely biased towards negative meanings. At the end of this study, the analysis of the number ‘three’ in proverbs through machine translation shows that machine translation has many limitations on the translation of the many meanings of the number ‘three’.
In academia, the parts outside the definitions in phonetic-semantic reference books are ambiguously termed, referred to as “revealed characters”, “word entries”, “lexical entries”, or “character entries”. Based on the meticulously revised Japanese manuscript of “Xuan Ying’s Phonetic-Semantic Explanations”, this paper conducts a comprehensive study on the origins of these parts, their relationship with the explanations, and their functions. It is discovered that this content not only originates from the scriptures but also from related prefaces or accompanying annotations. Their primary function is to “locate” and “identify the explained words”. Hence, they are termed as “label entries”. The function of the labels in “Xuan Ying’s Phonetic-Semantic Explanations” is to indicate the position of the interpreted terms in the scripture, and they do not form a relationship of interpretation and being interpreted with the exegesis as a whole.
본고는 중국, 한국에서 신체의 일부인 손을 가리키는 ‘手’가 어떻게 의미 확장이 되어 다양하게 사용되는지 대조하고자 한다. 신체의 일부인 손을 가리키는 ‘手’는 중 국에서는 ‘어떤 기능이나 기술을 가진 사람’, ‘수단’, ‘일손’ 등을 나타낸다. 한국에서는 ‘일을 하는 사람’, ‘어떤 일을 하는 데 드는 힘이나 노력’, ‘어떤 사람의 영향력이 미치 는 범위’, ‘사람의 꾀’ 등을 나타낸다. 두 언어에서 ‘手’와 ‘손’의 의미 확장이 비슷한 것을 볼 수 있는데, ‘手不够’, ‘손이 부족하다’가 그것이다. 이렇게 동일한 의미 확장도 존재하지만, 주지한 바와 같이 의미 확장 양상은 두 언어에서 차이를 가진다. 본고에 서는 의미자질 및 의미지도 연구 방법을 통해 ‘手’, ‘손’을 대조 분석하였다.
본고는 다의어에서의 의미 확장 과정에서 핵심 의미 작용을 하는 성분에 주목하여 동사 ‘熬’와 ‘炒’를 대상으로 사전과 코퍼스를 활용하여 이들의 핵심 의미 자질을 추 출하는 방법과 과정을 소개하고, 그 역할과 방향성을 탐구하는 데 연구의 목적을 둔 다. 또한, 構詞를 통해 ‘熬’와 ‘炒’의 복합어에서 보이는 핵심성분을 추출하여 핵심 의 미 자질을 다시 입증하였다. 연구 결과, ‘熬’의 핵심 의미 자질은 동작의 시간과 관련 된 [+장시간]이었고, 내포의미자질로 [+인내]자질이 ‘熬’의 의미 확장에서 두드러졌다. ‘炒’의 핵심 의미 자질은 동작의 횟수와 관련된 [+빈번]이었고, 내포의미자질로 [+조작]자질이 ‘炒’의 확장 의미에서 두드러졌다.
In the establishment of procedures for managing spent fuel, the development of an information system for data management is an indispensable prerequisite. Given the prolonged period of spent nuclear fuel management, marked by numerous personnel changes and the anticipation of vast data retention, addressing this matter appropriately is imperative, particularly in the specialized field of spent nuclear fuel operations. Recognizing the need for a method to mitigate these challenges, we endeavored to apply semantic technology to the information system. To achieve this, we constructed the ontology of spent nuclear fuel and conducted research to transform it into a relational database. As a result, the information system, developed by the application of semantic technology, has attained the capability to comprehend and perceive relationships among information itself. Through this research, the system not only addresses previously identified concerns but also enhances its versatility, enabling it to perform functions previously unattainable within existing information systems.
In this paper, the conceptual spaces of the diachronic semantic evolution of “Paste” semantic verbs are constructed through the diachronic literature surveys. In the history of Chinese language, the verb with the meaning of “Paste” was rarely used in literature before the Tang Dynasty, and it was not until the modern Chinese period that it gradually increased. In terms of activity, from the dominance of “膠” in ancient Chinese to the emergence of “貼” in medieval Chinese, and until modern Chinese, a situation where the three words “貼” “糊” and “粘 (黏)” went hand in hand was formed. The pattern of “粘” “帖”, and “膠” as marginal members greatly influenced the use of “Paste” semantic verbs in modern Chinese, and this pattern was generally continued in modern Chinese, At the same time, there are some differences in the use of words between WeiJin Dynasty
Satellite imagery is an effective supplementary material for detecting and verifying nuclear activities and is helpful in areas where access and information are limited, such as nuclear facilities. This study aims to build training data using high-resolution KOMPSAT-3/3A satellite images to detect and identify key objects related to nuclear activities and facilities using a semantic segmentation algorithm. First, objects of interest, such as buildings, roads, and small objects, were selected, and the primary dataset was built by extracting them from the AI dataset provided by AIHub. In addition, to reflect the features of the area of interest (e.g., Yongbyon, Pyongsan), satellite images of the area were acquired, augmented, and annotated to construct an additional dataset (approximately 150,000). Finally, we conducted three stages of quality inspection to improve the accuracy of the training data. The training dataset of this study can be applied to semantic segmentation algorithms (e.g., U-Net) to detect objects of interest related to nuclear activities and facilities. Furthermore, it can be used for pixelbased object-of-interest change detection based on semantic segmentation results for multi-temporal images.
In actual language corpus, there exists a phenomenon of semantic dislocation between “Du1 (度1)” and “Du2 (度2)”. The sense of “Du1 (度1)” is mainly a noun, but it also has a verb sense of “according to rules”. On the other hand, “Du2 (度2)” is mainly a verb, but it has a noun sense, which is a military term. Based on domain restriction analysis, this paper analyzes the syntactic position, semantic evolution and domain restriction changes of the dislocated semantics, and examines the semantic evolution process of the two. It is found that when the verbal noun “Du (度)” undergoes a part-of-speech change, it is often influenced by external factors of language, leading to a sudden mutation in domain restriction. However, when “Du (度)” is only subject to internal language mechanisms, its part-of-speech does not change, and it only extends new meanings within the domain field and transitional domain field. Therefore, the study of domain restriction has practical significance in the classification of Chinese verbs and nouns.
본 연구는 과학전람회에 출품된 지구과학 부문 탐구주제를 분석하여 학교에서 이루어지는 지구과학 탐구활동을 살펴봄으로써 지구과학 출품작 중 주제 특성을 파악하는 데 기여하는 데 목적을 지닌다. 이를 위해 과학전람회 누리집 에 게시된 지구과학 부문 출품작 중 2000년부터 2020년까지 21년 동안 다루어진 자료 총 566점을 대상으로 하였으며, 분석틀을 기준으로 언어네트워크를 분석하였다. 그 결과 지구과학 출품 작품으로 지질과학이 가장 활발하게 탐구가 이 루어졌다. 특히, 층서/퇴적/화석/지사학 영역과 관련된 중생대 백악기 시대의 화석이 주를 이루었다. 이들과 함께 천문 및 우주과학, 대기과학 영역에 해당하는 핵심어가 작은 규모의 네트워크를 이루고 있었다. 천문 및 우주과학은 주로 태 양과 달, 지구를 주제로 갖는 태양 흑점, 달 위상 등 탐구활동에서 소행성, 금성과 목성과 같은 태양계 구성 천체의 역 학적 특징에 대해 다루고 있었다. 대기과학은 대기물리를 중심으로 대기 관측/분석기술, 대기역학, 대기질감시 등에 대해 다루어졌으며, 해양과학은 물리해양학과 지질해양학 등에 관해 탐구가 제한적으로 이루어진 것으로 나타났다. 본 연 구를 바탕으로 학교 현장에서 지구과학 탐구주제를 선정하고 탐구활동을 수행하는 데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
Countries in the Chinese character cultural sphere share the Chinese Zodiac that assigns twelve animals to each year a person is born based on the order of arrival, so-called Tti. The twelve animals reflect the psychological characteristics of human life and are regarded as more special than other animals. Thus, the animals are used in idiomatic expressions as a vehicle to more properly describe human feelings and thought. This study therefore analyzed the semantic features of the twelve animals to explore the Chinese perception about the animals. The study result can be summarized as below: The representative semantic features of the twelve animals are as follows: [Villain], [Thief], [Misdeed], [Harmful], and [Heinous] for Rat; [Big] for Ox; [Villain], [Ferocious], [Cruel], [Heinous], [Foe], [Causing Fear], [Causing Risk], [Harmful], [Aggressor], and [Predator] for Tiger; [Agile] and [Quick] for Rabbit; [Emperor], [King], [High Status], [Authority], and [General] for Dragon; [Villain], [Aggressor], [Greedy], [Cunning], [Heinous], and [Vicious] for Snake; [War] and [Military] for Horse; [Weak], [Sacrifice], and [Dangerous Situation] for Sheep; [Nominal] for Monkey; [Small], [Slight], [Trifling], and [Useless] for Rooster; [Shabby], [Vulgar], [Bad], and [Foolish] for Dog; and [Shabby], [Vulgar], and [Wicked] for Pig. The negative semantic features were dominant in all animals except the dragon, which is consistent with a tendency that the animals are generally used to emphasize the negative aspects of a person. The semantic features of the animals are also presented in various domains of action, psychology, personality, morality, size, episode, speed, status, position, geographical features, attitude, shape, living, means, situation, etc.
이 연구의 목적은 지구과학 교사들이 변성암을 분류하기 위해 사용하는 개념 구조와 변성암을 분류하는 기준에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 연구자들은 전라북도 소재의 중학교와 고등학교의 지구과학교사 21명을 대상으로 사 고 구술을 활용하여 변성암을 분류하는 과정에서 진술한 언어 자료를 수집하였다. 그리고 이렇게 수집된 언어 자료를 언어네트워크분석법을 활용하여 분석하였고, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지구과학 교사들은 변성암을 분류하는 과정 에서 암석에서 일반적으로 관찰할 수 있는 색, 구성 광물, 입자의 크기 등의 특징과 변성암에서 나타나는 엽리를 중심 으로 분류하였다. 둘째, 지구과학 교사들은 변성암의 분류 기준에 관해 접촉 변성작용과 광역 변성작용 등 변성작용을 중심으로 인식하고 있었다. 그러나 관찰한 내용을 잘못 판단하여 다른 암석으로 오인하는 사례들이 나타났다. 그러므로 지구과학 교사들이 변성암이 형성되는 과학적 과정과 변성암에서 관찰되는 현상을 서로 연결하여 인식할 수 있도록 그 들에게 변성암에 대한 관찰 정보와 경험을 충분히 제공할 필요가 있다.
Knowledge information structuring is one of the most suitable research topics in the field of semantic search, natural language processing and other digital technology integration. Digital technology can not only access massive amount of ancient materials, shorten data analysis time, but also visualize the analysis results through data visualization function. From these two aspects, the application of digital technology to humanities research is very valuable. However, the fundamental question is “Is it valid to use machines to analyze and structure contemporary human thinking systems in the field of humanities?” and “How many valid and meaningful results can be obtained from such research?” Based on this awareness of the problem, this paper aims to review the research objectives of the topic “Research on structuring the knowledge information of Literary Sinitic texts based on artificial intelligence data processing technology” and use it as an opportunity to reorient the future research of the project. To this end, this paper introduces the current status and shortcomings of the research on ontologies and semantic webs related to Literary Sinitic and Sinographs in Korea and abroad, points out the issues and difficulties that must be solved to construct the semantic web of Literary Sinitic texts, and then looks forward to the possibility of analyzing the vocabulary of Literary Sinitic texts with the help of machine. It is hoped that this paper can raise the attention of the academic community to the study of Literary Sinitic vocabulary and contribute to the development of related research.
Image-oriented information is becoming increasingly important on social networking services (SNS); the background of this trend is the popularity of selfies. Currently, camera applications using augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are gaining traction. An AR camera app is a smartphone application that converts selfies into various interesting forms using filters. In this study, we investigated the change of keywords according to the time flow of selfies in Goolgle News articles through semantic network analysis. Additionally, we examined the effects of using an AR camera app on appearance satisfaction and self-esteem when taking a selfie. Semantic network analysis revealed that in 2013, postings of specific people were the most prominent selfie-related keywords. In 2019, keywords appeared regarding the launch of a new smartphone with a rear-facing camera for selfies; in 2020, keywords related to communication through selfies appeared. As a result of examining the effect of the degree of use of the AR camera app on appearance satisfaction, it was found that the higher the degree of use, the higher the user’s interest in appearance. As a result of examining the effect of the degree of use of the AR camera app on self-esteem, it was found that the higher the degree of use, the higher the user’s negative self-esteem.
Numerous spent nuclear fuels are generated every year in Korea. To solve the spent nuclear fuel problem within saturated temporary storage, the authorities are readying to build an interim storage and a permanent disposal facility in the country. At the same time, the authorities are readying to establish a management procedure for spent nuclear fuel. In the future, the authorities need to make and apply the Database of spent nuclear fuel to practice the management procedure. However, the structure of a traditional database is not reasonable for information management because it has a problem with listing data and identifying data features due to its structure. In addition, the traditional database always exists human error from working in Excel program by a human. Therefore, this research proposes a new standard information management model based on Semantic Web technique. Semantic Web uses a data structure named ontology. By using the ontology in the information database of the spent nuclear fuel, users, such as institutions related to management, could more easily recognize and understand the Database. Furthermore, since this task proceeds in the ontology construction program, the human error in the new model reduces rather than an environment of the traditional database.
본문은 일상적인 대화에서 화자가 청자에게 전달하는 구문 내용은 크게 ‘사건정보’ 와 ‘화자정보’로 나누어지며, 청자가 두 가지 정보를 모두 이해하면서 완전한 의사소 통이 이루어진다고 보았다. 또 ‘능원동사(조동사)’가 표현하는 의미에는 ‘화자정보’의 요소가 더 많이 함유되어 있기에, ‘사건정보’를 중심으로 한 어법기능이나 품사분류 에서 모호한 성분으로 남을 수밖에 없다고 판단하였다. 지금까지 연구에서는 ‘사건정 보’를 기반으로 한 어법관계를 통해서 능원동사의 어법기능을 파악하고자 하였고, 또 양태의미를 통한 의미영역의 분석에서도 개별 능원동사의 ‘다의성(多义性)’만을 제시 했을 뿐이다. 그래서 본문은 ‘사건정보’보다는 ‘화자정보’의 측면에서 능원동사의 의 미정보가 서로 다른 언어환경에서 어떻게 변화하는지를 고찰하고자 하였다.
The "V Shang" structure is a structure that appears frequently in modern Chinese, and the meaning it expresses is also closely related to the verb it is collocated with. At the same time, it is also closely related to the meaning of “Shang” itself. The predecessors have conducted relevant research on the literal and deep meaning of the “V Shang” structure. Based on the previous research, this article starts from the basic meaning of “Shang” and once again discusses the “Shang” in “V Shang”. To analyze, we hope to sort out the development clues of the semantics related to “Shang”, as well as the combination characteristics of different meanings that these different semantic types can bring. In the aspect of linguistic cognition, from the perspective of image schema, the different meanings of “Shang” in “V Shang” are presented, which further influences the semantic structure, and makes a corresponding exposition. Starting from the basic image schema of “V Shang”, Variation 1 is the meaning of displacement, and the process of moving to “Shang” completely follows the basic image schema; Variation 2 is the meaning of result realization; Variation 3 is to satisfy the reference standard , reach a certain quantity meaning; Variation 4 is the meaning of contact attachment; Variation 5 is the meaning of new action and state start. From Variation 1 to Variation 5, it can be seen that the “V Shang” structure is a unified whole that is interconnected and differentiated from each other.
