        In order to optimising the sea traffic network efficiency, improving the safety of shipping and the protection of the environment, it is useful to model the sea network and its spatio-temporal characteristics of the ship patterns. These maritime patterns could also be an a-priori set of knowledge for the upcoming Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) which are starting to navigate our seas with or without remote human controls. The above concepts are crucial and essential elements for defining and understanding the Maritime Situational Awareness (MSA). Nowadays the applied methodologies for modelling the maritime traffic use large scale of database for extracting the patterns. The Knowledge Discovery from Data (KDD), strictly connected with Data Mining (DM) is growing significantly to modelling the behaviour of the vessels in relations to their surroundings. This is just one example that confirms the growing up of the cloud computing usage for maritime applications too. Besides these applications there are also a continuous and fast evolution of the IT services, which more often than not means data centre scale-ups with consequent improve of power consumptions. This paper is a case study based on real world data assessing a multi-objective energy consumption analysis. It is based on the comparison between the traditional air conditioning structures known as Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and the Free Cooling Technique (FCT) in order to reduce the data centre power consumption keeping the same number of computational calculations performed.

        Biochar obtained from the thermal conversion of biomass has high potential as a substitute material for activated carbon and other carbon-based materials because it is economical, environmentally friendly, and carbon-neutral. The physicochemical properties of biochar can also be controlled by a range of activation methods such as physical, chemical, and hydrothermal treatments. Activated biochar can be used as a catalyst for the catalytic pyrolysis of a biomass and as an absorbent for the removal of heavy metal ions and atmospheric pollutants. The applications of biochar are also expanding not only as a key component in producing energy storage materials, such as supercapacitors, lithium ion batteries, and fuel cells, but also in carbon capture and storage. This paper reviews the recent progress on the activation of biochar and its diverse present and future applications.

        본 연구는 방울토마토 재배 단동온실에 공기순환팬을 설치하고 공기순환팬이 온실 내 온도 및 습도 분포, 에너지소비량에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 공기순환팬은 날개 크기 230mm의 Stainless 팬으로, Lee 등(2016)의 연구결과를 참고하여 시험구 온실에 9m 간격으로 총 18 대를 설치하였다. 온실 내부 온습도는 온실 길이방향으 로 4등분하여 1/4 지점과 3/4 지점의 중앙에 센서를 설치하고 0.8m, 1.8m 높이 2곳의 온습도를 난방을 주로 하는 야간(오후 6시~다음 날 오전 7시)에 5분 간격으로 측정하였다. 에너지소비량은 각 온실에 위치한 온수펌프의 유량, 온수 출수부와 환수부의 온도차를 측정하여 계산하였다. 공기순환팬을 사용하지 않았을 때 측점 간 온도차 및 습도차의 평균값은 0.75oC, 2.19%였으며 공기 순환팬 사용 시 측점 간 온도차 및 습도차의 평균값은 0.42oC, 1.27%로 감소하였다. 공기순환팬 설치 온실과 미설치 온실의 누적 에너지소비량은 각각 4,673kWh, 4,009kWh로 공기순환팬 설치 온실에서 약 14.2%의 에너지를 적게 소모하였다. 이러한 결과로 보아 온실 내 공기순환팬 사용은 공기를 지속적으로 교반시켜 주어 온실 전체의 온도 및 습도를 균일하게 만들고, 공기의 온도가 빠르게 변하지 않도록 해주어 난방 장치의 가동 시간과 에너지소비량을 줄일 수 있다.

        This study reset the Reference Extent for Consultation about Energy Use Plan by the project so that the Consultation about Energy Use Plan would display realistic effectiveness. To achieve this aim, consultation case analysis was carried out from 2006 to 2014 and the Environmental Impact Assessment system was reviewed. The results show that Reference Energy Equivalent Extent could be basis for resetting the Reference Extent by the project. Also suggest that the Reference Energy Equivalent Extent calculated by Electricity Intensity could be applied to the Reference Extent of Urban, Tourism and Industrial complex development project in order to reflect change of industrial technology & Energy demand.

        PURPOSES : The authors set out to estimate the related carbon emissions, energy use, and costs of the national freeways and highways in Korea. To achieve this goal, a macro-level methodology for estimating those amounts by road type, road structure type, and road life cycle was developed. METHODS : The carbon emissions, energy use, and costs associated with roads vary according to the road type, road structure type, and road life cycle. Therefore, in this study, the road type, road structure type, and road life cycle were classified into two or three categories based on criteria determined by the authors. The unit amounts of carbon emissions and energy use per unit road length by classification were estimated using data gathered from actual road samples. The unit amounts of cost per unit road length by classification were acquired from the standard cost values provided in the 2013 road business manual. The total carbon emissions, energy use, and cost of the national freeways and highways were calculated by multiplying the road length by the corresponding unit amounts. RESULTS: The total carbon emissions, energy use, and costs associated with the national freeways and highways in Korea were estimated by applying the estimated unit amounts and the developed method. CONCLUSIONS: The developed method can be employed in the road planning and design stage when decision makers need to consider the impact of road construction from an environmental and economic point of view.

        It is important to develop the smart ventilation system in order to minimize a building energy consumption using ventilation. In this study, We evaluated the efficiency of the smart ventilation system being developed at the nursery. To evaluate the energy savings and carbon dioxide removal efficiency, two kinds of experimental conditions were compared. First, air conditioner and Smart HVAC system were operated. Second, air conditioner was operating and external air was put into the inside by rate of air circulation. It was more effective when working with air conditioning and ventilation system at the same time. If the Smart HVAC system is applied in a multi-use facility, indoor air quality will be comfortable and the social cost will be reduced.

        There is scarce research in the domain of sustainable marketing and renewable energy, despite the importance of this area. The consumers should adopt and increase the use of renewable energy (RE) because renewable energy sources contribute to reduce the dangerous gas emissions and resource depletion. Therefore, the understanding of what drives the consumer demand for RE is essential. Sustainable marketing has an important role in creating and promoting sustainable patterns and levels of consumption of the end users. In this study, considering the theory of reasoned action (TRA), the knowledge about renewable energy (RE_KNOW), the attitude toward RE (RE_ATT), the willingness to pay more for RE (RE_WPM) and the predisposition to ecological consumer behaviour (ECCB) were analysed as determinants of the intention to use RE (RE_INT). Moreover, the effects of RE_KNOW on RE_ATT and on ECCB and the effects of RE_ATT on ECCB and on RE_WPM were also assessed. Based on an online survey, the reliability, and convergent and discriminant validity of the constructs were assessed presenting good values. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the proposed relations. The results confirm all the determinants of RE_INT except the RE_WPM. The ECCB is the stronger determinant of the RE_INT, followed by the RE_ATT. The beliefs – attitude – intention link was found which supports the TRA. The effect of RE_KNOW is stronger on ECCB than on RE_ATT, and the effect of RE_ATT is stronger on ECCB than on RE_WPM. Furthermore, the moderator effects of sex and age were evaluated through multi-group analysis. For women and men, the proposed relations do not have significant differences. However, for the younger group, RE_ATT is the only significant determinant of RE_INT whereas, for the older one, ECCB and RE_WPM are the significant ones. For younger individuals, RE_KNOW has a direct, positive effect on RE_ATT which in turn has a direct, positive and strong effect on RE_INT, in accordance with the theory of reasoned action; RE_ATT has a direct, positive and stronger effect on ECCB than RE KNOW has. For older individuals, the relation RE_KNOW– RE_ATT – RE_INT is not significant. This research offers insights that help the electricity companies to develop sustainable marketing strategies in order to increase the use of RE. The results of this study indicate that the theory of reasoned action broadly support the attitude-behavior link for consumer RE use. However, for specific groups, the older one, this is not the case. To capture younger consumers it is important that companies develop marketing strategies to increase RE_KNOW and consequently to strengthen RE_ATT to obtain strong RE_INT and RE use. However, to conquer older consumers the effort should be putted more on the reinforcement of ECCB and on the RE_WPM. Therefore, the marketers need to develop different strategies for different target groups to promote the electricity products. Campaigns about renewable energies, their advantages and impact on the environment should be targeted to younger consumers in order to increase the knowledge and attitude toward RE However, to attain more willingness to pay a price premium for green electricity by the older consumers, the companies should document and communicate well the environmental benefits of their green offers. Moreover, for this older group, the promotion of other consumer sustainable behaviors will be desirable since they will have a positive impact on the intention to use RE.

        본 연구는 태양에너지를 효율적으로 이용하기 위하여 태양열 집열기와 팬코일유니트(F CU)에 의한 집열량을 실험적으로 검토하였다. 실험기간 동안 진주지역의 최저외기온은 -13.0~25.2℃ 범위에 있었고, 일사량은 0.0~26.6 MJ․m-2 정도의 범위에 있었다. 그리고 평균 일사량 및 최저외기온의 평균은 각각 13.6 MJ․m-2 및 8.1℃ 정도인 것으로 나타났다. 진공관형 태양열 집열기에 설치한 순환펌프를 ON/OFF시켰을 경우, 회수된 열량은 각각 22,473.8 kcal 및 19,438.9 kcal 정도로서 순환펌프의 작동에 의해 약 15.6 %정도 효율이 개선되는 것으로 판단되었다. 평판 및 진공관형 집열기로부터 회수된 총 열량은 각각 2,865,092.1 kcal 및 2,366,119.2 kcal 정도였다. FCU에 의한 실험결과를 보면, FRP를 이용한 경우에 전체 축열량과 공급열량은 각각 1,289,839.3 kcal 및 1,143,807.4 kcal정도였다. WB의 경우는 각각 970,277.0 kcal 및 885,386.0 kcal정도인 것으로 나타났으며, 온실내부의 온도는 최저외 기온보다 약 3.0℃이상 높게 유지되어는 것으로 나타났다.

        The Consultation about Energy Use Plan is prescribed by the Energy Use Rationalization Act. In order to analyze the effects of Consultation about Energy Use Plan, case analysis from 2006 to 2010 were carried out. The results of analysis shows that the mean energy use per object is 131,500 toe, that the mean annual energy saving effect is 15.3% and mean annual CO2 reduction effect is 13.7%. These effects are equivalent to 0.7% of 2010 national primary energy consumption. Also benefit-cost ratio during this period is 1.57, it means economic and social effect with the Consultation about Energy Use Plan are very excellent.

        The Consultation about Energy Use Plan is prescribed by the Rational Energy Utilization Act. This paper proposes a regression model for estimating consultation objects each year. Analysis results predict for the next six years that the mean annual energy saving effect is 13.2%, mean annual CO2 reduction effect is 13.4% and benefit-cost ratio is 2.48, it means economic and social future effect with the Consultation about Energy Use Plan are very excellent. Also the effect of introducing system improving efficiency of energy use is expected to account for 62%, recovering waste heat account for 17%, introducing group energy supply account for 18% and utilizing new․renewable energy system account for nearly 3% of total energy savings on plan for improving efficiency.

        The Consultation about Energy Use Plan is prescribed by the Rational Energy Utilization Act. The Consultation about Energy Use Plan submitted by only the public superintendent of project was enforced from 1999. The Consultation was enlarged in objects as including the private superintendent of project according to amendment of the Act in 2002, also the consultation was enlarged in objects of facilities etc. by amendment in 2006. The results of analysis shows that the mean annual energy intensity value per 103 ㎡ is 86.5toe, mean annual CO2 emission intensity per 103㎡ is 61.7TC and the mean annual energy saving effect is 13.0%, mean annual CO2 reduction effect is 13.4%, these effects equivalent to 0.33% of 2005 national primary energy consumption. Also benefit-cost ratio of whole objects is 1.67 and benefit-cost ratio of enlargement objects is 1.93, it means economic and social effect with the Consultation about Energy Use Plan are very excellent.

        겨울철 오이 시설재배에서 태양열 시스템을 이용한 지중가온의 효과를 구명하고자 지중 40 cm에 15 mm의 PPC파이프를 130 cm이랑 에 4열 매설한 후 지중 20 cm의 지온을 22~23℃로 설정한 후 1996년 11월 7일부터 1997년 1월 30일까지 일정한 온도로 유지, 관리하여 무가온구와 가온구의 지상부, 지하부 및 수량을 비교시험한 결과는 다음과 같다 1) 지중가온에 의한 지온확보는 가온구는 15~20 cm에서 22℃ 정도의 평균온도를 확보할 수 있었고, 무가온구는 평균 17~18℃ 정도였다 2) 정식 30일 정도에서 초기생육은 가온구가 초장, 경경, 엽수, 엽면적 등 모두 증가하였으며 특히 초장 27%, 엽수 51%, 엽면적은 150% 정도 증가하였다. 또 지상부 평균 증가율도 관행대비 가온구 증가율이 117% 정도였다. 3) 가온구의 지하부 뿌리의 생장성이 관행구에 비하여 평균 56% 정도 증가하였다 4) 과수의 수량면에서도 총과수가 무가온구 313개, 가온구 614개로 가온구가 196% 정도 증수되었다.

        태양열 에너지의 효율적인 이용과 자동화 장치의 개발을 목표로 지중가온의 온도변화 특성을 실험. 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 10월 13일의 1일 하우스 내기온이 주야간에 24℃의 차이가 있으며, 무가온시 지온변화는 지중 10 m 부근에서 6℃, 지중 20 cm 부근에서는 3℃정도의 차이를 보이고 있다. 2) 20시경에 내기온과 지온차가 가장 작은 것으로 나타났으며, 지중 20 cm 부근의 온도변화는 내기온이 가장 낮은 오전 7시부터 약 3시간이 경과된 오전 10시에 최저가 되었다 3) 가온수의 온도를 40℃, 50℃, 60℃로 변화하였을 때 지중 10 cm의 최저은도는 약 20℃ 지중 20 cm의 최저온도는 약 23℃로 나타나 가온온도가 40℃ 이상일 경우 가온온도에 따른 지중 10~20 cm사이의 온도차는 매우 작았다. 4) 지중 15~20 cm의 지온이 20℃가 되기 위해서는 가온수의 온도를 40℃ 이하가 되도록 설정하여야한다. 5) 가온수의 온도가 40℃, 50℃, 60℃이고 파이프 매설 깊이가 12 m일 경우 유입구와 유출구의 1일 평균온도차는 40℃일 경우 3.5℃ 50℃일 경우 4.4℃, 60℃일 경우 5.4℃정도로 이 구간에서 온도변화식은 T = 0.09591T+2.5451(R2= 0.9966)로 거의 선형적으로 변화하였다. 6) 가온수 온도가 40℃의 경우 지중 15~20 cm, 50℃의 경우는 지중 13~19 cm, 60℃의 경우는 12~17 cm 부근이 경계영역으로 판단되었다. 7) 재배기간중 하우스 내기온을 11℃ 이상으로 유지하고, 가온수의 온도를 28℃로 순환 결과 지중 15 cm 이하에서 최저지온를 20℃ 이상의 온도를 유지할 수 있어 저온수공급에 의한 온도상승효과가 뚜렷이 나타났다. 8) 가온수의 온도를 28℃로 하여 지중가온 한 결과 지중 15~20 cm사이에 온도변화는 무가온구에 비하여 공히 4℃~7℃가 상승되었다.

        The university is one of the main energy consumption facilities and thereby releases a large amount of greenhouse gas (GHG). Accordingly, efforts for reducing energy consumption and GHG have been established in many local as well as international universities. However, it has been limited to energy consumption and GHG, and has not included air pollution (AP). Therefore, we estimated GHG and AP integrated emissions from the energy consumed by Seoul National University of Science and Technology during the years between 2010 and 2012. In addition, the effect of alternative energy use scenario was analysed. We estimated GHG using IPCC guideline and Guidelines for Local Government Greenhouse Inventories, and AP using APEMEP/EEA Emission Inventory Guidebook 2013 and Air Pollutants Calculation Manual. The estimated annual average GHG emission was 11,420 tonCO2eq, of which 27% was direct emissions from fuel combustion sectors, including stationary and mobile source, and the remaining 73% was indirect emissions from purchased electricity and purchased water supply. The estimated annual average AP emission was 7,757 kgAP, of which the total amount was from direct emissions only. The annual GHG emissions from city gas and purchased electricity usage per unit area (m2) of the university buildings were estimated as 15.4 kgCO2eq/m2 and 42.4 tonCO2eq/m2 and those per person enrolled in the university were 210 kgCO2eq/capita and 577 kgCO2eq/capita. Alternative energy use scenarios revealed that the use of all alternative energy sources including solar energy, electric car and rain water reuse applicable to the university could reduce as much as 9.4% of the annual GHG and 34% of AP integrated emissions, saving approximately 400 million won per year, corresponding to 14% of the university energy budget.

        Rural villages have many problems such as the collapse of rural village communities with continued over-depopulation and aging, reduced functions of towns and villages, deteriorated services with changes in the structure of settlement class and decreased use of the facilities. they also have difficulties in maintenance in spite of the increase of the roles of rural village community facilities. Various plans for the utilization of community facilities to promote the vitality of rural villages and the revitalization of communities have been needed. Thus, this study aimed to offer basic data to seek for future plans to utilize community facilities and reconstruct communities through an analysis of the current uses of energy and community facilities in rural villages. The results indicated that the consumption of petroleum was highest in mountain villages at an average of 187,475 won/month(137ℓ), followed by fishing villages at an average of 144,142 won/month(104ℓ) and rural villages at an average of 126,070 won/month(93ℓ). The rate of utilization of community facilities was reversely highest in rural villages at 84.3%, followed by fishing villages at 61.1% and mountain villages at 40.7%. This research also found that households saved energy when they used community facilities and areas with a high rate of utilization of community facilities at a lower average temperature in winter. It saved approximately 33% energy compared to other areas. Finally, efficient and economical methods for community facilities in villages to be newly developed and the remodeling of existing facilities should been needed in the future to contribute to reconstructing rural village communities that face a crisis of maintenance or abolition.
