For low-rise piloti-type buildings that suffered significant damage in the Pohang earthquake, the seismic performance of those designed by codes issued before and after the earthquake has been recently revised. This study started with the expectation that many of the requirements presented in the current codes may be excessive, and among them, the spacing of column stirrup could be relaxed. In particular, the recently revised design code of concrete structures for buildings, KDS 41 20 00, suggests that the column stirrup spacing is 1/2 of the minimum cross-sectional size or 200 mm, which is strengthened compared to KBC 2016, but relaxed than the current KDS, 41 17 00, which is 1/4 of the minimum size or 150 mm. As a result of the study, it was found that the target performance level was sufficiently satisfied by following the current standards and that it could be satisfied even if the relaxed spacing was followed. Therefore, the strict column stirrup spacing of KDS 41 17 00 could be relaxed if a wall other than core walls is recommended in the current guideline for the structural design of piloti-type buildings.

공판이 진실발견의 장이 되어야 한다는 데는 많은 사람들이 동의할 것이 다. 우리 법 제310조의2도 법정에서의 진술을 최상위에 두고 있다. 이 점 은 대륙법의 직접심리주의이든 영미법의 전문법칙이든 차이가 없다. 사실 판단자가 법정에서 진술을 듣고 진실을 발견하라고 한다. 하지만 이러한 원칙에 모두 예외를 두고 있다. 전문법칙에도 법정 외 진 술을 사실인정의 자료로 쓰는 예외가 꽤 규정되어 있고, 직접심리주의에서 도 법관 앞에서 한 진술은 법정 외 진술이어도 증거로 할 수 있는 길을 열 어두고 있다. 이제 문제는 수사기관이 작성한 서류라면 조금 더 폭넓게 증거능력의 예 외를 인정할 것인가? 검증조서에 수사기관의 목격 진술을 적고, 압수조서나 수사보고서에도 적게 할 것인가, 하는 점이다. 그건 아니라고 본다. 예외가 원칙을 훼손하지 않도록 하기 위해서는 우리 대법원이 어느 지점 에선가 ‘더는 안 된다’는 말을 해 주어야 한다. 검증조서와 압수조서, 수 사보고서에 들어가 있는 진술의 증거능력에 대한 법원의 꼼꼼하고 단호한 검토를 기대하는 이유다. 중요한 것은, 증거서류 규정의 합리적 해석을 통 해 공판중심주의를 강화하는 것이기 때문이다.

This paper attempts to show that the word sì 巳(祀) used after the negative wù 勿 or wú 毋 functions as a “Vintransitive” (all the abbreviations and references used in this paper are given at the end of Part I). As such, it forms a VP, 勿/毋 V1 (=巳) V2, where V2 is frequently, but not always, one of the six “Type-A ritual Vs”—one being dăo 禱 ‘to pray’ and the rest given in the paper; when V2 is a “Type-B non-ritual V”—one being diàn 田(甸) ‘to hunt’ and the rest inexhaustible. A major reason for the use of V2 is to contrast with the preceding V1. This is deduced from closely examining the semantic relationship between V1 and V2. The details will be explained with examples. There are also inscriptions in which V1 (巳/祀) is used before yú 于, a “multidirectional” preposition. This is labelled as “Nloc in the sense of ‘in, at’, not ‘to, for’ when preceded by the V1 or in the construction given in the title. The paper accounts for its motivating principle. The paper argues that 巳/祀 is a Vaction meaning “conduct sì-providential ritual”. It was done at a place to seek divine direction and guidance from the deity or Power believed to have dwelt in situ. Originally presented in Takashima (2009a), this paper delves further into linguistic, philological, and cultural aspects of the 巳-ritual couched in the VP, 勿/毋 V1 (=巳/祀) V2. Part I has covered “Examination I: Zhū Shēngyù’s Questions and Zhāng Yùjīn’s Interpretation”. The paper answers the former and evaluates the latter. This study utilizes association rule learning and clustering analysis to explore the co-occurrence and relationships within ecosystems, focusing on the endangered brackish-water snail Clithon retropictum, classified as Class II endangered wildlife in Korea. The goal is to analyze co-occurrence patterns between brackish-water snails and other species to better understand their roles within the ecosystem. By examining co-occurrence patterns and relationships among species in large datasets, association rule learning aids in identifying significant relationships. Meanwhile, K-means and hierarchical clustering analyses are employed to assess ecological similarities and differences among species, facilitating their classification based on ecological characteristics. The findings reveal a significant level of relationship and co-occurrence between brackish-water snails and other species. This research underscores the importance of understanding these relationships for the conservation of endangered species like C. retropictum and for developing effective ecosystem management strategies. By emphasizing the role of a data-driven approach, this study contributes to advancing our knowledge on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem health, proposing new directions for future research in ecosystem management and conservation strategies.

Vespa binghami (Hymenoptera: Vespidae) is one of the 10 species in the genus Vespa distributed in South Korea and is the only nocturnal wasp. In this study, we sequenced complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the species using the Sanger method and using Vespa-specific 30 primer sets. The length of V. binghami was 15,957 bp and the total A/T content was 80.6%. The A+T-rich region of V. binghami was 152 bp, and other Vespa species ranged from 39 bp (V. velutina) to 2,230 bp (V. v. auraria). Compared to the majority of insects, the gene arrangement of V. binghami had differences as followings: trnY-trnI-trnM-trnQ, trnN-trnE-trnS1-trnF, and trnS2-trnL1. However, all species in the genus Vespa registered in GenBank to date were composed of the same arrangement. Phylogenetic analysis using 13 PCGs and 2 rRNA genes showed the sister relationship between V. binghami and V. orientalis with the higher nodal supports.

Pyrethroid resistance in cockroach populations has been a public health challenge since the 1950s. The pyrethroid resistance in the German cockroach, Blattella germanica, is primarily attributed to knockdown resistance (kdr) mutations (E434K, C764R, and L993F) in the voltage-sensitive sodium channel gene (vssc). In this study, the pyrethroid resistance state of the German cockroach in the Republic of Korea (ROK) was assessed by analyzing the frequencies of kdr mutations using one-step PCR with total RNA. The results revealed that among the 25 populations examined, 14 populations exhibited the L993F kdr mutation, while no other mutations were detected. Since other cockroach species are also commonly found in human dwellings in ROK, the vssc genes were cloned from four other species, including Blattella nipponica, Periplaneta americana, Periplaneta japonica, and Periplaneta fuliginosa. Based on the genomic DNA (gDNA) sequences obtained from the vssc cloning, primer sets were designed to amplify the vssc fragment spanning the L993F mutation for each species and used to monitor the development of pyrethroid resistance in cockroach populations in the ROK. The study will facilitate the implementation of a nationwide monitoring program to assess cockroach resistance and select suitable alternatives.

근대는 16세기부터 19세기까지 서유럽에 새로운 기풍과 제도가 진작되 어, 중앙집권적인 근대국가의 수립, 무역과 산업혁명을 통한 경제성장, 그 리고 국민의 정치참여가 확대된 것을 지칭한다. 그런데 동유럽과 북유럽은 조금 다른 길을 걸어왔다. 먼저 헝가리는 ‘선거왕제’ 아래 귀족들의 권한 이 왕권보다 강해 중앙집권화와 국민통합이 어려웠다. 폴란드도 귀족들이 ‘선거왕제’ 아래 국내 기반이 약한 외국인을 왕으로 선출하고, 귀족 개개 인이 ‘자유거부권’을 가질 정도의 막강한 권한을 갖고 상인 등 잠재적 경 쟁자를 억압함으로써, 경제발전과 국민통합이 어려웠다. 두 국가 모두 국 토 분할을 경험했으며, 20세기 들어와서야 겨우 독립을 얻었다. 반면 군사 강국 스웨덴은 18세기 러시아 패권에 밀려 쇠락하자, 서로 권력투쟁을 벌 이던 왕과 귀족들이 타협해 입헌군주제를 채택하고 뒤늦게 산업화를 추진 했다. 덴마크도 경쟁국인 스웨덴에 밀린 후 19세기 몰락 위기에 처하자, 입헌군주제와 자유무역주의를 채택해 국민통합을 이루고 뒤늦게 근대화에 동참했다. 결국 동유럽처럼 자신의 이익만 추구하는 귀족들이 약한 왕에게 책임을 전가하고 실제로 국가를 주도하면 근대의 진입이 늦어지며, 북유럽 과 같이 국가적 위기 상황 속에서 왕과 귀족이 연대하고 국민을 통합하면 서유럽과 같은 근대화에 성공할 수 있었다는 것을 알 수 있다.

This study investigated whether the framework of writing for English learners should be guided by the well-established reading-writing relation or by the receptive and productive nature of literacy skills. The writings of 209 advanced English learners in Korea were analyzed in relation to receptive and productive vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension while controlling for writing fluency. Two sets of structural equation models were fitted: (1) productive skills (productive vocabulary and writing fluency) mediating receptive skills (receptive vocabulary and reading) and (2) reading mediating receptive and productive vocabulary knowledge. The results supported the second model in which reading completely mediated the contribution of receptive and productive vocabulary to writing. Although there were no direct effects of receptive and productive vocabulary knowledge, both had significant indirect effects on writing through reading and writing fluency. These results show that reading has a strong direct effect on writing above and beyond vocabulary, and that vocabulary knowledge contributes to writing development through reading.

This study investigates the social construction and continual (re)production of the cultural Other through educational materials, focusing on Korean middle school English textbooks. Twelve middle school English textbooks from four publishers were collected and analyzed, with a focus on how they (mis)represent cultures and practices of minority groups. Utilizing critical content analysis to examine both visual and written texts in the textbooks, this research uncovers recurring patterns of exoticizing and commodifying Hawai’ian culture, homogenizing African culture, and romanticizing Indigenous peoples. The findings contribute significantly to our understanding of how cultural representations in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) textbooks shape perceptions and influence societal dynamics. They also illuminate how these representations reflect and perpetuate Eurocentric colonialist discourse. Moreover, the results underscore the importance of equipping educators, especially English teachers, with critical literacy. This empowers them to identify hidden power relations that reinforce stereotypes, and actively engage in the construction of a more inclusive and equitable society.

이 연구는 해외의 복수국적 제도를 살펴보고 한국의 제도와 비교해 보 며, 한국의 복수국적제도의 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 지난 20년 사이, 전 세계에서 복수국적의 취득이 점점 더 많이 허용되고 있음에도 불구하 고 한국은 여전히 다중국적 취득을 부정적으로 생각한다. 이는 하나의 국적을 가진 일반인들에게 상실감과 역차별 논의를 제공할 수 있기 때문 이다. 그러나 이제 전통적인 국가의 개념이 약화된 만큼, 편리한 삶을 위 해 다국적 제도의 선택적 기능을 활용할 필요가 있다. 복수국적 취득 제 한은 정체성의 형성 과정 및 표현과 생활 영역 선택 등을 제한하여 물리 적인 거주·이전의 자유와 행복추구권에 대한 제한이 되며, 국적 보유의 자유에 대한 제한이 된다. 재외동포단체들은 국내 체류 동포를 국적으로 구분하지 말고 한국 사회의 주요 구성원으로 수용해 주기를 희망하였다. 이에 본 연구자는 현재 허용되고 있는 복수국적자의 연령을 하향하여 경 제활동 인구 증가 등 국가에 이익이 되는 정책을 제안하였다. 또한 설문 을 통해 차세대의 국민됨의 인식이 ‘국적’ 자체보다는 사회·정서적 교감 을 더 중요시한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 결과는 미래세대의 인식 변 화에 맞게 국적 제도도 변화가 필요하다는 것을 의미하는 것이다.

전통적으로 기독교의 구원에 관한 견해는 전 인류를 두 진영으로, 즉 구원받은 자와 구원받지 못한 자로 나누어왔다. 하지만 20세기에 들어서 많은 사람들이 하나님의 사랑과 은혜, 그분의 주권으로 인해 모든 인류의 미래를 낙관하는 신념을 공유하기 시작했다. 이 주장을 지지하는 신학적 근거는 하나님의 무한한 사랑이나 구원의 전능성과 같은 하나님의 본성에 기초한다. 심지어 복음주의자들 사이에서도 타종교인과 비종교인들의 운명에 대한 명확한 신학적 합의가 없다. 하나님은 그분의 자유로운 의지와 은혜를 통하여 특정 종교전통 안에 있는 개인들을 구원하실 수 있을까? 여기서 기독교인으로서 반드시 인식해야 하는 가장 우선적인 것은, 타종교의 가르침이나 종교적 관행 들이 근본적으로 하나님이 예수 그리스도를 통하여 어떻게 인간을 구원하셨고, 그리고 어떻게 구원하시는지에 대한 기독교인의 인식과 분명히 다르다는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 그리스도인으로서 모든 인간의 궁극적인 구원에 대한 하나님의 능력과 자비에 대해서 어떤 시각을 가져야 하는지 다양한 신학적 견해들을 조사한 후, 연구자의 개인적인 신학적 결론을 제안하였다.

With the buzzword "conversational marketing", especially in the course of a further technological upgrade of marketing management via chatbots, messaging apps etc., the central idea of dialogue-oriented marketing, as has been required since the late 1970s/early 1980s, has received a significant upgrade. However, mostly with a quite narrow focus on the management of transactions and in the sense of a customer-centric and dialogue-driven approach for driving customer engagement, improving customer experience along a very narrowly interpreted customer journey, and growing revenue. There is no question that the consistent use of all available technological options to optimize the exchange processes with customers represents an important challenge. However, conversational marketing should not be interpreted too narrowly. On the one hand, it is important to expand this approach with reference to all stakeholders and not only to refer to 1:1 interactions, but also to explicitly include complex exchange processes within and between relevant stakeholder groups in the consideration. On the other hand, the focus should not be solely on the management of transactions. At the same time, targeted relationship and reputation management as well as consistent context management must be explicitly included in the consideration. This is not least because firstly Marketing measures always tend to have corresponding effects in all three areas, i.e. possible transaction, relationship and reputation as well as context effects must be taken into account and controlled in a targeted manner. Secondly, the developments in market and society are increasingly contributing to the fact that the demands on companies are constantly increasing. On the one hand, this affects the expectations of all stakeholders that companies make significant contributions to the sustainable development of society as a whole through not only the economically successful handling of all their business processes but also consistently pursuing ecological, social and cultural goals. In order to meet these demands, companies must also try to exert a targeted influence on the relevant framework conditions in the market and society and their further development. The range here is extraordinarily large and colorful: from the creation of infrastructural conditions for smart problem solutions (e.g. smart mobility) up to ensuring the sustainable development of social value systems. The latter found its expression, e.g. in various approaches of brand activism ("black lives matter", "everyone is awesome" or the conveyance of a new self-understanding of men in the case of Gillette’s “we believe” campaign).

Consumers often read and write reviews about their experiences. Do people share and rely on the same type of reviews when making experiential purchases? This research investigates the structure of psychological ownership of people and the antecedents and results. Although research on psychological ownership is prevalent in Marketing and consumer behavior, there are a few works on psychological ownership of people. Recently, regardless of age and sex, people have been more actively engaging in activities that support their favorite celebrities, idols, and animation characters. They invest their time and money in the objects by participating in events, purchasing goods, recommending to others, etc. These behaviors would contribute to their life satisfaction and happiness. Based on previous research on psychological ownership in the field of organizational behavior and interview with idol fans, we built a model and tested it with data from 550 idol fans. The model contains two dimensions of the psychological ownership of consumers’ favorite idols, two factors as antecedents, two moderators relating to other fans, and two outcomes. The result shows that psychological identity positively affects a sense of community with other fans, and psychological responsibility positively influences territoriality toward them. While a sense of community with other fans positively affects their well-being and intention to continue support behaviors, territoriality negatively influences intention to continue support behaviors and positively impacts well-being.
