Pile foundations constructed by the fiber reinforced polymer plastic piles have been used in coastal and oceanic regions in many countries. Generally, fiber reinforced polymer plastic piles are consisted of filament winding FRP which is used to wrap the outside of concrete pile to increase the axial load carrying capacity or pultruded FRP which is located in the core concrete to resist the bending moment arising due to eccentric loading. In this paper, the analytical procedures of hybrid concrete filled FRP tube flexural members are suggested based on the CFT design method. Moreover, the analytical results are compared with the experimental results to obtained by the previous researches. The results of comparison analyses are performed to estimate the accuracy of the analytical procedure for hybrid FRP-concrete composite compression test, members under eccentrical loading.

In this study, flexural strength properties of SC shear walls were investigated through static pushover test. Failure modes and stiffness characteristics of SC shear walls under lateral loads were inspected by analyzing the experimental results. Main failures of unstiffened SC shear walls were found to be the type of bending shear failure due to the unbonding of the steel plate at the concrete interface. The ductility capacity of SC structures was also confirmed to be improved, which is considered to be a confining effect on steel plates in the longitudinal behavior of SC shear walls.

This study carried out finite element deflection analysis of cylindrical shell structures made of composite materials, which is based on the micro-mechanical approach for different fiber-volume fractions. The finite element (FE) models for composite structures using multi-scale approaches described in this paper is attractive not only because it shows excellent accuracy in analysis but also it shows the effect of the material combination. New results reported in this paper are focused on the significant effects of the fiber-volume fraction for various parameters, such as fiber angles, layup sequences, and length-thickness ratios. It may be concluded from this study that the combination effect of fiber and matrix, largely governing the dynamic characteristics of composite shell structures, should not be neglected and thus the optimal combination could be used to design such civil structures for better dynamic performance.

Accumulation of more than 20,000,000 vehicles since the establishment of the quality of life and economic development needs several parking lots and cause crack problem in Korea. Related structures in large cities due to the lack of parking garage attached to secure underground parking structures are actively being built, and the basement parking lot will continue to increase more stories and the trend is expected to be larger. But so far, construction of the underground parking structure is related to a number of problems, including cracks in the structure. Therefore, in this study, repair, reinforcement and a few non-economic losses in the current design criteria are presented. The review of the structure used to current design criteria is to minimize crack and maximize usability.

Partially earth anchored (PEA) can improve the structural safety and economic feasibility of multiple span cable stayed bridge (CSB). The PEA-CSB can restrain axial compressive load acting on a tower and reduce the global buckling length of a stiffened girder. For these reasons, structural members subject to axial forces can be effectively utilized and material quantity required for a steel deck can be reduced to save construction cost. In this study, the PEA system was verified for its application on a multiple span CSB. The CSB is a four-tower multi-span bridge which has a main span length of 500 m. As high tensile stress was generated at the top of the bridge decks at the mid-span between two main columns, a hybrid deck system for enhancing the bridge deck sections was proposed. While the composite sections made of concrete and steel were used near to the main columns, steel sections were used at the mid-span between two main columns.
