Preflex (PF) composite girder is one that the prestressed force are readily applied to the steel beam and concrete is then cast to the steel beam, so that the elastic force of steel girder introduces prestressing effect to the steel-concrete composite girder. The major advantage of PF composite girders is to reduce the height of section. This study proposes a new Represtressed Preflex Composite Girder(RPF) composite girder that minimizes the amount of steel beam utilizing a temporary steel beam. The proposed RPF girder introduces the preflex effect to the full composite action between main steel beam and temporary beam. As a part of this study, finite element model has been developed and parametric studies are conducted to further investigate the characteristics of the proposed girder.

As an effort to enlarge the territory of the county, many researchers have been studying floating foundation system. The procedure to build such structure needs prestressing and the joint that unify the precast concrete modules. Most importantly, the performance of aqua-epoxy used joint between modules is a critical factor of the structure, thereby it is important to evaluate the performance of it. Hence, this study tests the performance of the joint due to the joint length and the material properties of aqua-epoxy. The result showed that the specimen of 1cm joint length using 2% silica-fume mixed aqua-epoxy has the optimum load carrying capacity.

This Paper evaluates the effect of Shear Design Article of KCI 2012 on the isolated footing of 15-story and 25-story frame type apartment buildings of which an apartment unit area is 59m2. As a result, the footing depth of a 15-story building shows 30.7% increase, and 25-story one, 39% increase, respectively. The minimum footing depth of isolated footing to resist pile punching is 750mm for a 15-story building and 830mm for a 25-story one.

In this research, it is shown a nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) composite columns by applying high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composite(HPFC) mortar. The developed model was considering the high-ductile characteristic of HPFC mortar. In the result, the analysis by the model was well predicted the experimental behaviors the RC composite column.

This paper presents a study of the numerical analysis of bracing connection in modular pier system using Concrete Filled Tube members. To evaluate the structural capacity of bracing connection, which have various shapes, numerical analysis is performed. For the optimal shape of bracing connection, the shape and size of gusset plate are evaluated by using analysis results.

This paper presents test results of bending and weld joint of the HSA800. HSA800 for the high performance steel has a minimum 800MPa tensile strength. HSA800 can effectively reduce the size and thickness of structural member for high-rise building. Bending test and weld joint test of HSA800 are conducted to verify fabrication and performance of steel pile. Test results show that HSA800 is appropriate to make a heavy wall steel pipe. The fracture is occurred at the base metal of weld joint which can exhibit strength higher than its base metal.

Vibration measurements were conducted before and after the experiment of static loading test for soil-wall in wooden structures. As a result, natural period was changed depending on the damage of soil-wall. Accordingly, the damage assessment was carried out using each specimen strength degradation and the dynamic characteristics.

In this paper, a new direct search method, Near-Up Search method, is proposed for the discrete nonlinear structural optimization. The proposed method is illustrated and tested by the minimum weight structural optimization problem of 3D truss. The results of the trusses design show that the Near-Up Search method is much more efficient than Genetic Algorithm.

In this study, experimental research was carried out to study the high strength RC exterior beam-column joints regions, without the shear reinforcement, using high ductile fiber-reinforced mortar. Specimens designed by retrofitting the exterior beam-column joint regions of existing reinforced concrete building showed a stable mode of failure and an increase in shear strength capacity due to the effect of enhancing dispersion of crack control at the time of initial loading and bridging of fiber from retrofitting new high ductile materials during testing.

In this study, experimental research was carried out to study the high strength RC exterior beam-column joints regions, without the shear reinforcement, using high ductile fiber-reinforced mortar. Test results showed that specimen BCJNSP1.0 were increased th maximum load-carrying capacity and showed stable hysteresis behavior and satisfactory crack pattern in comparison with th specimen BCJNS without shear reinforcement in the beam-column joint region.

In this study, experimental research was carried out to evaluate the structural performance of the reinforced concrete beam retrofitted by strengthening methods(embedded FRP rod of hexagon, metal fittings) in existing reinforced concrete buildings. Test results showed that the maximum load carrying capacity of retrofitted specimens(BCR, BCR-AC1, BCR-AC2) were increased by 55%, 47%, and 52% respectively in comparison with the standard specimen BSS.

Experimental studies on prestressed steel-concrete composite beams with various types of innovative webs have been conducted to improve prestress efficiency and composite action. These researches observed that the efficiency of prestress introduced into the flanges of composite beams with corrugated webs or discontinuous webs significantly increased due to accordion effect. In this study, nonlinear finite element analysis has been performed to evaluate the local behavior of specimens that are very difficult or sometimes impossible to observe. A suitable modeling method for PS composite beam has been developed, which can consider the loading stages along construction sequences and the interface interaction between different materials such as concrete and steel. The analysis results have been compared to test results for verification.

The objective of this study is to apply a constitutive damage model for cyclic response of E-shaped dampers as well as metal and metallic plate dampers in order to be used in more broad area such as material and component level. Seismic isolation system using sliding bearings and metallic dampers experience almost elastoplastic behavior due to seismic excitation. Accordingly, a cyclic damage model is applied to understand inelastic behavior and to evaluate a potential damaged state of E-shaped dampers in seismic isolation system. This damage model is originally formulated through a thermodynamic approach based on entropy production equation. The proposed cyclic damage model is implemented as a user subroutine in the finite element software ABAQUS. Finally, numerical results of E-shaped energy dissipation devices in seismic isolation system are compared with experimental data to check the validity of this model

In order to evaluate earthquake response of structures affected by shallow soft soil deposits, centrifuge tests were performed. The test specimen was composed of a single-degree-of-freedom structure model, a shallow foundation and sub-soil deposits in a centrifuge container. The structure response directly measured from the test showed that a large rocking rotation occurred due to the soil-foundation interaction. Thus, the acceleration of the structure was significantly smaller than the fixed base structure response.
