The ISTIMES project, funded by the European Commission in the frame of a joint Call “ICT and Security” of the Seventh Framework Programme, is presented and preliminary research results are discussed. The main objective of the ISTIMES project is to design, assess and promote an Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)-based system, exploiting distributed and local sensors, for non-destructive electromagnetic monitoring of critical transport infrastructures.

Long-term monitoring system is becoming the center of interest in a field of diagnosis in building structures. Existing measuring systems had many problems such as measuring data is not the absolute value but the relative, and the durability performance of system itself is not enough to use it in building site. FBG optical sensor has many merits to overcome the existing sensor's demerits. In the study, FBG optical sensors encased in concrete were tested and analyzed to evaluate its measurement performance for applying it as a long-term load and displacement monitoring system in high-rise buildings.

The purpose of the paper is to evaluate the serviceability of two-way hollow core slab with the distinguishingly donut shaped hollow named as GB-SLABTM(Green Ball based lightweight biaxial concrete SLAB) developed by Samsung and patented internationally. One of engineering issues in the long-span concrete slab structure is definitely how to evaluate the long-term deflection considering the cracked section. To evaluate the long-term deflection of GB-SLAB, the immediate deflection after concrete form removal is measured and then the long-term cracked deflection is predicted using finite element analysis

The limit state design code for reliability-based design criteria was enacted in January 2012. And, it was necessary to consider new load carrying capacity method for new design code. Therefore, LRFR and ballowable stress design rating was applied to load carrying capacity and compared with the result. In addition, this research consists of ambient vibration measurement, experimental modal analysis, correction of the initial FE model based on the identified modal properties, and estimation of the load carrying capacity using the updated FE model

A noncontact nondestructive testing(NDT) method is proposed to detect the damage of plate-like structures and to identify the location of the damage. To achieve this goal, a scanning laser source actuation technique is utilized to generate a guided wave and scans a specific area to find damage location more precisely. The ND: YAG pulsed laser is used to generate Lamb wave and a piezoelectric sensor are installed to measure the structural responses. The measured responses are analyzed using 3 dimensional Fourier transformation. The damage-sensitive features are extracted by wavenumber filtering based on the 3D FT. Then, flaw imaging techniques of a plate-like structure is conducted using the damage-sensitive features. Finally, the plates with notches are investigated to verify the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed NDT approach.

Structure health monitoring(SHM) has the potential to provide quantitative and reliable data on the real condition of structures, observe the evolution of their behaviour and detect degradation. However, measurement data is not stable due to the various reasons such as power supply problem, electric wave interrupt or other unpredictable situations. Therefore, in this study, the management technique of historical displacement data is presented to deal with the situation when missing data is detected. Continuous monitoring is enabled by imputation algorithm presented in this study. Finally the presented technique is tested through the simulation which is based on finite element program.

In this study, for estimating the loss and damage ratio of maintenance monitoring sensor of foreign railroad tunnel, the loss and damage condition of maintenance monitoring which is installed and operated in the foreign tunnel structure is researched and analyzed. The total loss and damage ratio at the elapsed time of 5-6 years after installation is 13.9% in the Channel Tunnel of England. Therefore, it is reasonable to reflect that the total loss and damage ratio of maintenance monitoring sensor of railroad tunnel is estimated provisionally 15% on design, and hence the study of the loss and damage ratio with the number of elapsed years in long-term by the measurement category will be needed.

This study is to invest safety against the local corrosion of steel pylon in the Dolsan bridge(Cable-stayed type). For the investigation, visual inspection, non-destructive testing using the high resolution camera and ultrasonic thickness gauge with the structural analysis were completed. In the result of the safety check, no problem of steel pylon is detected. Cause of corrosion is damage on steel surface during early stage of the construction.

As numbers of tunnel are increased, the necessity of temporary maintenance works of those tunnels is also increased. This study introduces new space truss frame system for the maintenace of tunnels. Proto-type model was analyzed and evaluated. The result shows that new system may contribute to save the maintenance cost and time.

In this study, to evaluate the condition and performance of bridge, (Life-Cycle condition, performance Profile LCP, Model is developed about classification of bridge and member. Also LCP Medel of repair and reinforced method is developed considered of major deterioration factor. Using final Proposal LCP Model, the condition/performance historical model is calculated.

This study analyzes descriptive statistics and tests homogeneity hypothesis, and applies a posteriori comparison procedures among treatment levels for the response characteristics such as static response ratios, impact factors, natural frequencies of bridges according to structural types and service periods. This study is expected to help understand the difference among response characteristics of groups and provides the practical information for safety assessment and structural design.

최근 들어 수질 환경 문제가 많이 발생함으로서 사회적으로 큰 이슈가 되고 있다. 오염된 하천을 회복시키기는 많은 비용과 장기간의 시간이 소요됨을 볼 때 하천 수질관리 시스템이 얼마나 중요한지 알 수 있다. 하지만 현재 관리시스템은 현장 조사와 단순모니터링에 의존하여 실시간으로 하천수질상 태를 측정, 알림, 통보하는 것이 불가능하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 하천에 유량이 유입되는 주요지점에 수중환경감지 센서설치 및 USN, 수중환경 프로그램 개발을 통하여 주변오염지역 감지 및 수중환경상 태를 실시간 감지하여 이상 징후 발생이 예상되는 시설물을 D/B 관리하는 지능형 수중환경 관리 시스템을 제시하고자 한다

레일마모는 열차의 주행안전 및 승차감에 미치는 영향이 크고, 소음․진동의 주요원인으로 작용한 다. 또한 레일마모가 발생할 경우 궤도구조의 파괴를 촉진시킴으로써 차량 및 궤도유지보수비를 크게 증가시킨다. 따라서 구간 특성 및 환경 영향 인자 등 현장에서 발생하는 마모 원인을 체계적으로 분석함으로써 마모를 저감할 수 있도록 차량운행 조건과 선로선형 및 궤도구조를 설계하는 것은 중요한 과제이다. 본 연구는 궤도의 성능 지표 선정을 위해 레일 마모 검측데이터간의 상관관계 분석을 수행하였으며, 마모 검측 데이터와 마모에 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단되는 주요 구간 특성 및 환경 영향인자를 바탕으로 CART(Classification Analysis of Regression Tree) 분석을 수행하였다..

Many kinds of fishways were installed approximately 5,500 in Korea. However, it was a big problem that the fish to move from down to up streams for spawning just in dry season. When flooded, the exit of fishway also was blocked by sediments, stones, wood chips and vinyls etc. It is not a simple slab of configuration but also well designed and constructed a total fishway system with sediments block and underground passage allow fish to continue moving.

In this study, the world's first multi functional fishway is proposed including underground passway, 3D-analysis of slab that load carrying capacity conditions and pectinate and vertical structure by SAP2000 recognized internationally. The structural analysis results are showed comb from than rectangular form of the maximum stress decreased 35.88%, 32.35% reduction in the moment, shear stress decreased 47.36%. Sidewall structural analysis results are showed comb form than the rectangular form of the maximum stress decreased 22.22, 31.88% reduction in the moment, shear stress decreased 43.48%. When we design to alleviate the water pressure of fishway wall, comb shape is more economical design than perpendicular form.

Degradation characteristics of highway bridge condition rate was studied. Factors affecting degradation rate such as bridge type, member type, and environmental exposure were analyzed by using bridge condition data in Highway Bridge Management System. It can be drawn from the analysis that condition degradation rates are different from type to type of bridge member, and environmental exposure such as the amount of chloride used, the amount of snowfall can accelerate bridge condition degradation

In this study, measured data of cable-supported bridge’s thermal expansion and contraction were analyzed. To evaluate structural behaviors by temperature variations, measured data were compared with theoretical values by correlation analysis between thermal movements and temperatures. Additionally, the cumulative displacements were analyzed. Through the analysis of the results, the evaluation methods of cable-supported bridge's thermal expansion and contraction is suggested.
