The damage caused by the earthquake is not only the structural damage, but also the damage caused by the functional damage of the non - structural element. However, the criteria for seismic design for non - structural elements such as electrical panels are insufficient compared to those for seismic design for structural damage. In this study, the performance of the anchor bolt connecting between electric panel and concrete slabs installed in a power plant according to the occurrence of crack was investigated by experiment.

In this study, an experimental research was conducted to investigate the effective compressive strengths of slab-column connections with different strengths. From the test results, it was found that the effective compressive strengths of the interior columns completely restrained by slab were similar to the compressive strengths of the columns.

In this paper, the flexural behavior of RC member recycled heavy weight waste glass as fine aggregate was evaluated by finite element analysis. From the results, the analytical results do not reflect the experimental results. This is because the stress-strain curve of the concrete specimen obtained from the compression test was used as the input data for the ABAQUS. Therefore, the ABAQUS, based on the experimental results of the stress-strain relationship of concrete, predicted the load-displacement relationship without considering the reduction in load capacity.

In this study, the damping ratio was estimated using the developed automatic calculation software based on the field measurement data of vibration of stay cable in cable-stayed bridge. For the field measurement, two accelerometers were used for obtaining of dynamic behavior of 1st, 2nd and 3rd mode. The damping ratio after installation of the damper was calculated as higher than the requirement values, also it was confirmed that the damping effect was improved with the range of 19~92%.

In this study, a numerical research has been conducted to investigate the fire resistance performance of prestressed hollow-core slabs, in which the number of prestressing strands and the load ratio were set as the analysis parameters. Based on the numerical simulation results, the temperature distribution and deflection according to the fire duration time were analyzed in detail.

This study is to evaluate the reinforcement details of reinforced concrete special shear wall systems. The use U-shaped transverse reinforcement and relaxed reinforcement regulations within special boundary elements in shear wall is shown to improve the construction issue caused by over-design by borrowing architectural structural standards in strong earthquake area. This result will give a basis for improving the performance of shear walls with use of U-type transverse bars.

This study examined the safety of nuclear spent-fuel (NSF) transport casks against accidental puncture events. Finite element analyses were conducted according to the accident conditions in NUREG-1536 and RG 7.8, which specify 1-m parallel and vertical drops on a rigid rod that has 15-cm diameter and 20-cm height. We focused on the safety evaluation of the cask body, baskets, and canister based on ASME BPVC Section III, and evaluated whether these elements would undergo excessive fracture or puncture.

In this paper, anchorage behavior of high-strength headed rebar with minimum edge distance was evaluated. The experimental parameters are the compressive strengths of concrete, the strengths and the anchorage lengths of headed rebar. The maximum pullout strengths and final failure modes were evaluated through the experiment.

In case of applying Guss asphalt concrete on steel deck of suspension bridges, the weight of the pavement may lead to a change in cable tension and a inclination of the main tower. And when the construction speed is high or excessive application width is applied it, a high temperature rise occurs at a large area at a time, and demage due to thermal deformation or excessive local stress may be induced in bridge members. In this study, we present a case study of the thermal effect on the structure behavior of the site by numerical analysis.

In order to improve the traffic congestion on the road, it is essential to construct overpasses and highways in big cities. In particular, in order to facilitate traffic flow within the overpass route, it is necessary to construct a curved bridge because the plane shape of the bridge itself must be aligned with the road alignment. Therefore, in this study, we have developed a precast PSC curved girder of concrete hollow box type with excellent bending moment, shear force and torsional moment resistance, and perform performance evaluation by structural test to confirm applicability to curved bridge.

In this study, the bending performance of flexural specimens fabricated with ECC was compared with typical reinforced concrete specimens. Test results show that the deflection of specimens made of ECC is increased compared with that of normal concrete specimens, and ductile fracture behavior is shown.

The flexural strength of lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) T-beams reinforced with the minimum amount of longitudinal reinforcement could be conservatively predicted by the conventional procedure using the equivalent stress block specified in concrete code provision.

The use of wood sleepers is on the decline due to their material and environmental disadvantages. Recently, the recycling of plastics and reuse as railway sleepers have become a social concern. In Europe and US, plastic sleepers have already been used, and some standards on plastic sleeper have been established. In this paper, performance requirements and test items of a plastic sleeper were described through the analysis of prEN 17318 series relevant to plastic sleeper.

The purpose of this study is to calculate the moment of sharing ratio for each component of the U shaped composite beam. The experimental results show that the yield moment is 1,129.5 kN․m and the theoretical value based on the strain gages is 1,057 kN․m with a difference of about 7%. As a result, the share ratio of the slab of reinforced concrete and the bottom plate of the U shaped beam were found to be about 88%.

In order to investigate the confinement behavior of reinforced concrete columns using high strength materials, we performed loading tests on the columns with different combinations of reinforcement strength. Base on the test results together with previous studies, the confinement capacity of high strength reinforced concrete column was evaluated and the adequacy of the confinement design equation in the KCI code was discussed. As a result, it is found that the energy dissipation capacity increases as the yield strength increases.

In this study, the torsional strength of reinforced concrete hollow beams is predicted by nonlinear finite element analysis. A nonlinear finite element analysis program, ATENA, was used for the analysis. A total of six reinforced concrete beams were used and the analysis was performed under the same conditions as the actual test.

For the purpose of increasing slab span, new composite beam with U-shaped compression element consisting of channel and concrete has been developed. Strength design procedures of the composite beam against construction and permanent loads have been proposed. Using these procedures, it is possible to design consistently of the developed composite beam.

This research provides a method that can be conveniently and easily to apply the prestressing force to concrete structures incorporating shape memory alloy fibers. For this, discrete shape memory alloy fibers were manufactured to be mixed with cement mortar. Then shape memory effect was generated to evaluate uplift displacements at the mid-span of the mortar beams with increasing fiber volume fractions.
