Electronic packaging involves interconnecting, powering, protecting, and cooling of semiconductor circuits fur the use in a variety of microelectronic applications. For microelectronic circuits, the main type of failure is thermal fatigue, owing to the different thermal expansion coefficients of semiconductor chips and packaging materials. Therefore, the search for matched coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) of packaging materials in combination with a high thermal conductivity is the main task for developments of heat sink materials electronics, and good mechanical properties are also required. The aim of this work is to develop copper matrix composites reinforced with carbon nanofibers. The advantages of carbon nanofibers, especially the good thermal conductivity, are utlized to obtain a composite material having a thermal conductivity higher than 400 W/mK. The main challenge is to obtain a homogeneous dispersion of carbon nanofibers in copper. In this paper, a technology for obtaining a homogeneous mixture of copper and nanofibers will be presented and the microstructure and properties of consolidated samples will be discussed. In order to improve the bonding strength between copper and nanofibers, different alloying elements were added. The microstructure and the properties will be presented and the influence of interface modification will be discussed.

The type, volume fraction, size, shape and arrangement of embedded particles influence the mechanical properties of the particle reinforced metal matrix composites. This presents the investigation of the SiC particle and porosity distributions in various aluminum matrix composites produced by cold- and hot-pressing. The microstructures were characterized by optical microscopy and stereological parameters. SiC and porosity volume fractions, and the anisotropy distribution function were measured to establish the influence of the consolidation method.

[ ] nanocomposite powders with a nominal composition of were prepared by HDDR combined with mechanical milling. The microstructure was studied by Mossbauer spectrometry and TEM. The magnetic properties were investigated by VSM using bonded magnet samples. The results showed that the annealing temperature had significant influence on both the recombination kinetics and the grain size of the and phases, and the bonded magnets presented the best magnetic properties when the nanocomposite powders were prepared by annealing at for 30 min.

The well-established Universal Powder Press UPP, designed by the Swiss press manufacturer Osterwalder AG in Lyss, went through a major improvement process. The result is a high efficient production machine with state-of-the-art technology. It will be shown the technical design, some process engineering as well as the influence of PRP - =Part-Related-Programming, first published in 1994 - on the set-up time. This development has enabled Osterwalder to round off their range of presses, the mechanical-hydraulic KPP as well as the hydraulic CA-NC II and UPP, to an attractive offer ranging from 120 kN up to 10'000 kN.

Intensive technological research on the Dry-bag CIP equipment was carried out to improve the dimensional accuracy and the productivity. The rubber mold design technology using FEM simulation during pressing was introduced, in order to achieve higher dimensional preciseness, and criteria for the selection of the In-line type or Off-line type, were established based on the powder flowability index proposed by Carr. Based on these research results, high productivity Off-line Dry-bag CIP equipment, which can realize good dimensional accuracy with high productivity, was developed even for non-granulated powders with poor packing density.

Attempts have been made to describe the influence of production process parameters on the microstructure and properties of W-Ag and Mo-Ag composites. The compositions of powder mixtures are W+30% Ag and Mo+30%Ag. Silver additions assists densification during sintering by a liquid phase sintering process. The main goal of this work is to compare properties and microstructure of as-sintered and as-infiltrated composites.

High Energy Milling (HEM) is applied for the grinding of cement and this can lead to substantial refinement (<2μm) and mechanically activation of the powder particles. The present paper reviews the preliminary studies, explains the novel technique and suggests the route into commercial application. Particular attention is paid to wear results with an applied unit where no substantial wear was found after 4000 h of operation.

The perovskite- type oxide containing transition metals on the B-site show mixed (electronic/ionic) conductivity. These mixed-conductivity oxides are promising materials for oxygen permeating membranes. The main objective of this research work is to synthesize and characterization ceramic powders of the Sr-Co-Fe-O system for methane conversion using membrane reactor. SCFO powders were synthesized from the route was based on the complex method of combination of acid EDTA and citrate and shown be available by control efficient of synthesis to performed , moreover, it presented easy implementation, reproducibility and operation. The aging behavior of sintered Al composites with various ceramic contents was investigated. 2xxx series blended powder was used as the starting powder. Ceramic contents were 0wt.% and 5wt.%. The blended powders were compacted at 250MPa. The sintering process was performed at for 60min in a atmosphere. Each part was solution-treated at for 60min and aged at . The Rockwell hardness at the peak aging time increased with ceramic contents. However, the peak aging time at maximum hardness was reduced with increased ceramic contents.

The increasing demand of PM parts for automobile and aerospace applications has caused a strong development of the aluminium based metal matrix composites (MMCs).Aluminium alloys are one of most widely used materials as matrix in MMCs, both in research and development as well as in industrial applications. In the present work, the influence of the ceramic reinforcement addition to a 2xxx series aluminium alloy is studied. Several percentages of TiCN have been added to the Al-Cu alloy using PM techniques, in order to analyze its influence on the liquid phase sintering process and on the final properties of the material.

Metallic compound of ternary Al-B-C system was prepared by mechanical alloying (MA) using Al, boron and graphite powders as starting materials. MA was carried out using Spex 8000 mixer/mill for 50 hours in an argon atmosphere without process control reagent such as methyl alcohol. The MA powders obtained were heat-treated in vacuum at the temperature of 873 and 1273 K for 5 hour. Pure ternary Al-B-C compound was obtained in the chemical content of Al:B:C=55:27:18. The ternary compound obtained in this study has a new phase whose crystal structure is not identified yet.
