Moon-Young Lee’s transcendence ethics are compared to Pondy’s (1962) conflict episode and Fisher, Ury, and Patton’s (2011) principled negotiation. Lee’s nonviolence, like conflict episode, posits various phases of a conflict between the weak and the strong and requires the weak to persevere with persecution and wait patiently for the right time. Like principled negotiation, Lee’s nonviolence adheres to rationality and objective standards without release of emotional enmity. Personal ethic to obtain knowledge and pursue agreement is consistent with principled negotiation, which suggests inventing options for mutual gain. Social ethic and self-sacrifice do not appear in conflict episode and principled negotiation. A conflict episode, “Lieutenant‘s Gentle Revolt,” illustrates how Lee’s nonviolence and principled negotiation can be effectively applied, especially to a bureaucratic model of conflict in which the counterpart is bad and powerful. Lee’s nonviolence is a likely choice for those who do not have power and who are persecuted by the strong, but must deal with violence of the strong. In fact, nonviolence, although sounding only theoretical and idealistic, provides practical and realistic guidance for conflict management.

Moon-Young Lee is a layman, not a theologian or pastor, who practiced and influenced Christian values and world view during his academic journey. His impact has been felt for 130 years in Korean Christianity. Moon-Young Lee declares that the foundation of American public administration is the 95Theses of Martin Luther in his book ‘Man, Religion, State’. He also interprets the 95 Theses insections of “Methodology, Work and Men”. In relation to “Methodolgy”, Articles 1-7 and 92-95 explain repentance in its entirety. These articles show how man should live through out his life. The section about “Work” is classified in an ethereal world(articles8-55). These articles teach that the work of man is to pursue God’s justice not “profit” symbolized by purchase of indulgences. The section about “Men” is described in articles 56-91 and states that man is a being standing before God(coramDeo) not before priests or the church. Moon-Young Lee’s motive for joining public administration with Christianity is his childhood motto of: “I will study hard for my country from now on, but within the scope of Christianity.” For him, the 95 Theses of Martin Luther show the origin of and the foundation of three courses of action for public servants within administrative organizations.

Non-violence administration (NVA) is in search of a more civilized island governance rather than following the model of Britian or Japan: NVA assumes a model of Asian democracy by a true human to contribute to peace island policy in Asia Pacific context. First, a model of Asian democracy which was created from a group of ordinary Korean citizens who had been participating in the Sam-Il-Movements demonstration under Japanese Military colony in 1919 is suggested. On March 1, 1976, it was impressive that 11 leaders proclaimed Korean democracy came from Sam-Il-Sa-Sang at Myungdong Catholic Church at the heart of Seoul. Second, he highly appraised the decision of the Korean government to designate Jeju Island as a World Peace Island on January 27, 2005. Though it is small, the island was expected to play a peaceful role between two Koreas and in the Asia Pacific context. Third, the Jeju people try to pursue an “environmentally peaceful island” for their future in the Asia Pacific such as a neutralized peace island model of Costa Rica in the Central American context (1949). Fourth, Jeju Island needs to make an international treaty, a so-called “World Peace Island Treaty for 6 Talks Countries” to guarantee its more neutralized role for Asian Pacific Peace in the same function as that of the Demilitarized Zone between the two Koreas as the result of a cease-fire agreement of Korean War such as through a new framework of the United Three States of Korea UTSK (South Korea, North Korea and Jeju Island Korea).

This paper examines Professor Moon-Young Lee’s academic achievement, which has been less highlighted than his popular image of a pro-democracy fighter. In fact, Lee was a puritan and dissident intellectual who studied public administration and believed in God throughout his lifetime. Lee employed ‘who-what-how’ categorization and transcendence ethics (i.e., nonviolence, personal ethic, social ethic, and self-sacrifice) to describe and analyze administrative phenomena. Lee’s nonviolence in particular plays a key role in his framework of transcendence ethics and is used in unique ways. His nonviolence is (1) not to use violence but to use ‘word,’ (2) to tell the truth (right things), (3) to tell right things only, (4) to use complete nonviolence, and (5) grounded in laws, common sense, and agreements. Nonviolence will be a likely option for those who do not have strong power and must address an evil counterpart. Citizens’ rational resistance and nonviolence will protect themselves from and correct the power abuse of evil regimes. However, the weak must persevere against the violence of the strong and wait patiently on the long road from nonviolence to self-sacrifice. Accordingly, it is not easy to practice Lee’s framework of transcendence ethics in reality. Nevertheless, his transcendence ethics, nonviolence in particular, appear to provide practical and realistic guidance for public administration reform.

해외 수출용 비모란 선인장 ‘Isaek’ 품종이 2012년 국립원예특작과학원에서 육성되었다. 황적색 계통 ‘line21’을 모본으로, 분홍색의 ‘Yeonhwa’ 품종이 부본으로 하여2008년에 교배되었다. 수확된 종자는 활성탄이 첨가된Kyoto 배지의 100mL 삼각플라스크에 파종하였으며, 발아된 유묘를 기내에서 접목하여 시험관에서 6개월 동안재배하였다. 포장에서 4회에 걸쳐 접목을 다시 하여 재배하였으며, 2010년부터 2012년까지 총 3회에 걸쳐 생육특성을 조사하였다. ‘Isaek’ 품종은 편원형의 모양과 적황색의 구색을 가지고 있다. 그리고 모구에는 8~10개,평균 9.0개의 능과 회갈색의 직립형 짧은 가시가 있다.능에 있는 혹(tubercle)은 돌출된 모양을 가지고 있다. 정식 10개월 후 ‘Isaek’ 품종의 구직경은 40.7mm로 대조품종 ‘Honjo’에 비해 작은 편이었다. 자구는 모구와 같은 황적색으로 10개월 동안 평균 10.5개가 생성되었다.2014년 2월 14일에 ‘Isaek’ 품종은 종자원에 등록되었으며 종자산업법에 의해 품종보호를 받게 되었다.

Target strength (TS) information is an important parameter that estimates the detection, distribution, and abundance of Aurelia aurita. In order to investigate the biological TS of jellyfish, some factors such as size (bell diameter), tilt angle, pulsation, and symbion should be known. In the ex situ TS measurements, the tilt angles and pulsation from synchronized swimming behavior of four live A. aurita (bell diameters in the air: 54.2 ~ 94.2 mm) were measured with the acoustic data at 70 kHz. The reduced target strength (RTS) of A. aurita was found to change ranged from 13.4 ~ 16.5 dB according to the incidence angles from –30° to 24°. When the change rate of bell diameter in the water was 0.2, the TS value showed a 7.2 dB change. These results could be utilized as an important data to understand the acoustic characteristic scattering of A. aurita.

B. 예이츠와 새뮤엘 베켓은 그 이전의 극작가들과 다른 모더니스트 극작가들이다. 본 논문은 예이츠의 『고양이와 달』과 벳켓의 『고도를 기다리며』 속의 설화학의 독특한 기법을 밝히고자 한다. 이 두 작가는 복잡한 플롯에서 보이는 복선, 원인과 결과, 문제, 점층법, 결말 등이 없다. 이들에게 세상의 실체는 주변의 사람들에 대한 세밀한 묘사(설화)로써 보여 지는 것이 라기 보다, 기다란 독백 대신 두 인물을 포개놓음으로써 내면의 자아에 대한 내면적 견해를 드러내어 보여 주는 것이다. 이것이 이 두 작가가 자신의 극을 극적으로 만드는 기법이다. 그러나, 각 작품에서 겉보기에 두 인물이 이어지는 사건과 무관한 말들을 주고받는 것 같지만, 그들의 말은 우리의 눈으로는 관찰하기 어려운 실체를 드러낸다. 이것이 예이츠와 베켓이 우리가 사는 세계를 묘사(설화)하는 방법인 것이다.

무궁화 ‘문레드’는 화색이 특이한 품종을 육성하기 위 해 2002년 홍단심계 ‘홍대륜’(H. syriacus ‘Hongdaeryun’) 과 홍단심계 ‘삼천리’(H. syriacus ‘Samchully’)를 교잡하 여 2007년부터 3년간 접목 및 삽목을 이용하여 후대검 정을 실시하여 2009년 최종 선발하였고, 2010년 품종 보 호권을 등록하였으며 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 신품종 ‘문레드’는 5년생 접목묘의 경우 수고가280cm 로서 키가 크고 수세가 강하며 가지가 약간 위로 향하 는 특성이 있다. 잎의 특성으로 엽신장은7.5cm, 너비는 5.2cm, 잎의 어깨넓이는 3.2cm, 엽병길이는 1.7cm로서 기 존 품종에 비해 잎이 약간 크고 결각이 얕게 파여있다. 잎의 모양은 난형, 기부의 모양은 약간 둥근모양, 정부의 모양은 뾰족하고, 가장자리 물결은 강한 특성이 있다. 신 품종 ‘문레드’의 꽃은 홍단심계 홑꽃으로, 화경은 12.4cm, 화색은 light pink(RHS 76A), 단심은 pinkish red(RHS 60B)으로 특이하며, 크기가 2.7cm로약간 긴 특성이 있다. 신품종은 기존 무궁화에 비해 화색이 연한 분홍색으로 옅 고 단심의 색이 흐린 특성이 있으며, 꽃잎의 겹침은 완 전 겹치는 I-c형이었다. 꽃잎 모양은 스푼형이며 끝부분 의 톱니모양은 강하고 주름이 져 있다. 수술통 길이는 3.4cm, 주두 색은 4C, 꽃술대색은 NN155C, 개화시는 8월3일로 늦은 만생종이었다. 신품종 ‘Moon Red’는 종 자산업법 제 55조에 의거 2011년 11월 30일 최종등록 (품종보호: 제 3802호) 되었다. 그러므로 본 신품종 ‘문 레드’의 경우 수세가 강하고 가지가 위로 향하며, 화색 이 옅은 분홍색으로 특이하고 단심이 흐린 특성이 있어 앞으로 조경용 소재로 활용될 수 있다.

진적색을 가진 비모란 선인장 품종을 개발하기 위해서 진적색을 가진 ‘설홍’ 품종을 모본으로 하고 진적색의 ‘후홍’ 품종을 부본으로 하여 2008년에 국립원예특작과학 원 선인장 온실에서 교배하였다. 기내에서, 수확된 종자 는 100mL 삼각플라스크에 활성탄이 첨가된 Kyoto 배지 에 파종하였으며, 발아된 유묘를 어린 삼각주에 접목하 여 시험관에서 6개월 동안 재배하였다. 6개월 키운 유묘 를 2차로 접목하여 온실에 정식하여 2012년까지 비모란 선인장의 다양한 특징을 3회에 걸쳐 조사하였다. ‘일홍’ 품종은 편원형의 모양과 진적색의 구색을 가지고 있다. 또한, 8~10개의 결각과 회갈색의 직립형 짧은 가시를 가지고 있다. 정식 10개월 후 ‘일홍’ 품종의 구직경은 44.7mm로 ‘설홍’ 품종에 비해 큰 편이었다. 번식 수단이 되는 자구는 10개월 동안 평균 18.0개를 생산한다.

고양이와 달은 일본의 연극 광언의 영향을 받았지만, 예이츠는 자신의 극작가 예이츠, 시인 예이츠의 탁월한 재능으로 새롭고 창의적이기까지 한 극을 만들었다. 예이츠는 이 고양이와 달에 “가장 근접하고 가장 정교한” 표현이라는 개념을 적용하여 완벽한 예이츠적인 극으로 만들고자 한다. 또한, 이 3중으로 구성된 검은고양이 미나루쉬의 노래(동일한 제목의 시가 3분된)는 이 광언 극의 구조적 원리가 된다. 이로 인해서 이 극은 이상하고도 아름다운 희극으로 변모한다.

본 논문은 고려 수월관음도에 관한 기존의 연구들을 근저로 고려 중·후기 불교계의 특징, 수월관음에 관한 문헌적 전거, 거사불교(居 士佛敎)와 수월관음의 접점을 찾았다. 수월관음도가 고려 중·후기 라는 비교적 짧은 시기에 제작된 것에 비해 현대인들에게 미치는 파 급력은 엄청나다. 이 불화가 갖고 있는 대단한 영향력과 달리 그동안 고려 수월관음도 연구는 몇 가지 근원적인 문제점을 안고 있었다. 명 칭의 전거에 관한 문제, 특정 지물에 관한 문제 등이 바로 그것이다. 본 논고에서 이들 중『불설고왕관세음경(佛說高王觀世音經)』의 전거 문제, 대나무의 등장시기에 대한 문제제기 등을 통해 수월관음도의 도상적 이해의 폭을 넓히고자 했다. 특히 수월관음도를 구성하는 개개의 요소들 중 대나무에 관한 도상 학적 해석이 미비한 현 상황에서 간단하게나마 대나무에 관한 새로 운 불교미학적 해석을 시도했다. 대나무는 선승과 거사들이 절개, 은 일, 청정의 의미로 즐겨 사용한 소재이다. 청정(淸淨)은『금강경』에서 분별을 일으키지 않는 것을 말하며 이는『반야심경』에서 말하는 공 (空)사상으로도 연결된다. 대나무는 어떻게 청정, 공(空)의 미학을 상 징적으로 보여주고 있으며, 수월관음도 속에서 어떻게 표현되었는지 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 수월관음과 불교신앙에 관해 관음신앙을 중 심으로 진행된 기존의 연구에서 벗어나 선종과의 연결고리와 새로운 해석을 제시했다.

정은궐의 『해를 품은 달』은 소설의 플롯 전개와 주요 주제에 있어서 종교와 밀접한 관련이 있음에도 불구하고, 그 ‘종교성’의 사안은 정당하게 평가받지 못한 측면이 있다. 이 소설은 해를 상징하는 이훤(왕)과 달을 상징하는 그의 정인 허연우와의 사랑이야기를 다루고 있다. 윤대형을 필두로 한 훈구파는 주권 권력을 독점하고, 지배계급으로서의 위치를 강화시키기 위해 무속이라는 종교를 이용한다. 주권 권력의 위협 하에 장씨 도무녀는 무고술을 통하여 인위적으로 해와 달을 분리시킨다. 장례식을 통해 일시적 죽음의 상태를 경험한 연우는 과거에 대한 기억을 잃어버리고, 무녀로서 호모 사케르의 삶을 살아간다. 그러나 두연인의 간절한 소망은 일종의 강력한 주술과도 같은 작용을 하게 되고, 팔년간의 시간을 보낸 후에 다시 만나게 된다. 액받이 무녀 월은 잃어버린 과거에 대한 기억을 되찾게 되고, 연우로서의 잃어버린 과거에 대한 새로운 구술의 역사를 이어나간다. 해와 달은 ‘성현’을 나타내는 상징물로서 국가와 우주의 질서를 회복시키는 만물의 이치를 나타낸다. 작품에 나타난 ‘성현’과 ‘무속’을 통해서 이십 일 세기의 첨단과학의 시대에서도 종교는 인간에게 무궁무진한 상상력의 원천으로 자리하고 있음을 알 수 있다.

예이츠의 「바일리의 바다 」는 셰익스피어의 주요 비극들을 연상시킨다. 「리어 왕」의 바보와 「맥베스」의 3마녀는 예이츠의 「바일리의 바다」의 바보와 장님과 유사한 기능을 가지고 있다. 파도와 생사가 걸린 결투를 하는 쿠후린은 고통으로 폭풍 속에서 울부짖는 리어왕을 상기시킨다. 이 논문은 첫 눈에는 잘 드러나지 않지만 예이 츠가 셰익스피어를 어떻게 차용하는지를 이해하기 위해 예이츠의 「바일리의 바다」와 셰익스피어의 「리어 왕」과「맥베스 」탐색한다.

The sound-speed and density contrasts are important factors in estimating the target strength (TS) of moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita). In this study, the sound-speed and density contrasts were measured using time-of-flight and neutral buoyancy methods, respectively. The sound-speed contrast of A. aurita was from 0.9966 to 1.0031 (mean±SD, 0.9999±0.0017) and no distinct differences in temperature or pulsation activity and weak were found. The density contrast was from 0.9994 to 1.0004 (mean±SD, 1.0000±0.0002). The density of A. aurita was substantially different but the density contrast of A. aurita was shown to be similar to that in the sampling location. The results can be used to estimate of TS of A. aurita by acoustic model.
