A case of chronic osteomyelitis caused by prolonged intake of bisphosphonate showed multiple recurrences involving extensive area of mandibular body. After saucerization the removed bony fragments were decalcified, microsected in 4 ㎛ thickness, and stained with hematoxylin and eosin, Masson trichrome, von Gieson, and periodic acid Schiff reaction. The inflammatory lesion contained fragile osteophytes easily propagated into sequestra. Histologically, this osteomyelitis was relatively less suppurative but almost granulomatous, highly infiltrated with small round cells and macrophages. The osteophytes were frequently deposited on the old lamellate bone, but their ossification was extremely immature and frequently filled with sclerosed collagen bundles positive for von Gieson stain. In the polarizing microscope observation under Masson trichrome stain the newly deposited osteophytes were lack of birefringence image of Haversian system contrast to the old bone nearby. Therefore, we presume that the prolonged intake of bisphosphonate may induce the immature osteophytes lack of Harversian system, which are partly filled with sclerotic collagen bundles, and the immature bone is easily undergone extensive degeneration and necrosis, resulted in the inflammatory foci for multiple recurrent osteomyelitis.
Although the sparganosis involving soft tissues, i.e, tongue, cheek, etc., has been frequently reported, the mandibular involvement of sparganosis is not reported up to date. We present a case of intraosseous sparganosis involving whole mandible, which was clinically diagnosed as chronic osteomyelitis. After surgical operation of saucerization for the treatment of chronic osteomyelitis the removed specimens were pathologically examined and finally turned out intraosseous sparganosis. Radiological findings showed irregular multiple radiolucencies in round to ovoid shape throughout both mandibular body areas, of which peripheral rarefying radiopacity was less remarkable compared to the ordinary osteomyelitis. However, the radiolucencies of periapical granuloma, #34-36, were closely associated with the osteolytic lesions of mandibular body. Pathological examination showed a tunnel like space for the passage of sparganum larva, and heavy infiltration of eosinophilicleukocytes. And more, the parasitic tegument materials were found admixed with eggs in the granulomatous lesion, which were gradually degraded and resolved. Taken together, we presumed that the mandibular inflammatory lesion was primarily involved with sparganosis and secondarily aggravated by the periapical infection of #34-36.
This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of asbestos distribution in 6 public and 6 school buildings from August to September in 2006. The bulk samples were analysed by PLM(polarized light microscope). Also the airborne samples were analysed PCM(phase contrast microscope) and confirmed by SEM-EDX(scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive using X-ray analysis) method. The 6 public buildings included the ACM(asbestos containing material) ranged 2-7 % of chrysotile in 70 % of samples from ceiling, floor tile, and wall board and has 20 % tremolite in 2 ceiling plaster. The 6 school buildings were identified 1.5 % tremolite in one sample and showed the similar asbestos distribution with the public building. The airborne concentrations of fiber materials were ranged with 0.000-0.017 f/cc in public places and 0.000-0.012 f/cc in school building by PCM. However, the asbestos fibers could not be found by SEM-EDX. In the result of physical assessment of ACM in each buildings, it is considered that there is no chance of a hazardous situation because the ACM is not friable. Its suggested that the asbestos control plan should be established to prevent asbestos exposure to occupants from damaged ACM by repairing and custodial work.
1.2-bis(aminoacyl)hydrazine derivatives and dipeptides were synthesized by conventional peptide synthesis procedures. Their antioxidant activity were inverstigated by over-storage test using corn oil as substrte. 1.2-bis (aminoacyl) hydrazine derivatives and dipetides containing hydrophobic side chain amino acid showed higher antioxidant activity. A free N-terminal amino group was also found to be important for the appearance of antioxidant activity. 1.2-bis (aminoacyl) hydrazine derivatives showed higher antioxidant activity than dipeptides. Antimicrobial activites of dipeptides and 1.2-bis (aminoacyl) hydrazine derivatives were also examined by the paper disc method. All of these compounds had shown no antimicrobial activity.
Asthmatics are more susceptible to fine particulate matters (PM2.5), compared to the general population. It has been reported that indoor PM2.5 is mainly generated by combustion of fossil fuels, meat or fish In particular, asthmatics are known to be more susceptible to indoor PM2.5 because 65 ∼ 95% of child or adult asthmatics stay inside the house. Thus, understanding the association between indoor activity patterns and variations in indoor PM2.5 levels is important. The purpose of this study is to determine the distribution of hourly indoor PM2.5 concentrations in asthmatics’ homes, and to evaluate its association with pan-frying cooking activity patterns, the most common PM2.5 emission related activity. From November 2017 to February 2018, real-time PM2.5 concentrations were measured in the living room of each asthmatic’s house (n = 35) for three weeks at 1 minute intervals. At the same time, self-reported daily activity patterns, hourly proportion (%) of cooking activities, were also recorded every hour over three weeks for each patient. In this study, we provided quantitative evidence that the distribution patterns of indoor hourly PM2.5 concentrations were associated with indoor cooking activities, especially in the homes of adult asthmatics. In addition, we observed that PM2.5 emitted by pan-frying could maintain even over up to 2 hour lagtime.
In this study examined the strength of wall concrete using insulated molds and non-insulated forms by monitoring the strength of the structure using a wireless sensor network by maturity method. It was confirmed that the temperature and compressive strength of the structures are monitored in real time, along with effective strength control.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the crack characteristics of concrete by comparing the previously developed transparent bubble sheet and the aluminum deposited bubble sheet whose surface is exposed by applying to the walled structure apartment actually constructed. The aluminum deposited bubble sheet was developed for the purpose of temperature reduction through heat reflection.
In Korea, for about 2 months from late July to early September, it is expected that the average temperature will exceed 25 ℃, therefore, construction shall be conducted with hot weather concrete. In the case of the concrete placed at this time, if proper curing quality control measures are not established, problems such as plasticity, drying, shrinkage, and crack are caused. Therefore, in this study, an optimum method is proposed by mutually comparing the temperature history characteristics of the slab concrete in accordance with the change of surface coated curing material type.
In this research, the investigation of the temperature condition of reinforcing bars under laboratory temperature and outside temperature conditions in the insulation curing method of Korean-Chinese concrete bubble sheet to examine the suitability of the bubble sheet curing method. As a result, the heat of hydration of the concrete on the wall part affects the exposed reinforcing bars to delay the temperature drop at the part where the bubble sheet is not laid

In the modern construction industry, some methods for enhancing the quality of a building have been sought in various ways. Accordingly, this research team intends to mutually compare the overall kinds of quality of products, such as, the temperature characteristics of PE films and the exposed surface, etc., by applying the single-layered bubble sheet that was developed as a surface curing material for summer to the construction site for a wall-type Apartment which is under construction.
In this study, it is intended to find out clearly whether there are any initial damages by frost by analyzing the temperature characteristics of the reinforcing bars of each area depending on the changes of surface curing methods for the exposed areas of some reinforcing bars by modelling the wall reinforcing bar areas of a wall-type apartment.
