This study aimed to investigate the difference that convolutional neural network(CNN) shows in the determining osteoporosis on panoramic radiograph by performing a paired test by inputting the original image and the limited image including the cortical bone of the posterior border of the mandible used by radiologists. On panoramic radiographs of a total of 661 subjects (mean age 66.3 years ± 11.42), the area including the cortical bone of the posterior part of the mandible was divided into the left and right sides, and the ROI was set, and the remaining area was masked in black to form the limited image. For training of VGG-16, panoramic radiographs of 243 osteoporosis subjects (mean age 72.67 years ± 7.97) and 222 normal subjects (mean age 53.21 years ± 2.46) were used, and testing 1 and testing 2 were performed on the original and limited images, respectively, using panoramic radiographs of 51 osteoporosis subjects (mean age 72.78 years ± 8.3) and 47 normal subjects (mean age 53.32 years ± 2.81). The accuracy of VGG-16 for determining osteoporosis was 97%, in the testing 1 and 100% in the testing 2. When determining osteoporosis on the original image, CNN showed sensitivity in a wide range of areas including not only the inferior cortical bone of the mandible but also the maxillary and mandibular cancellous bone, cervical spine, and zygomatic bone. When the same ROI including the lower inferior cortical border of the mandible of the osteoporosis group was applied and the sensitive region was compared between the original image and the limited image, the original image showed wider sensitive region in cancellous bone and cortical bone than on the limited image (p<.05). Since osteoporosis is a disease that affects throughout the skeletal system, this finding seems very valid.

This study evaluated the antioxidant activity and quality characteristics of rice cookie with added butterbur powder in a ratio of 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20% to confirm the possibility of butterbur as a functional food. The moisture content, spread factor, leavening rate, and hardness of rice cookies increased with an increase in the amount of butterbur powder; whereas a decrease in the pH and baking loss rate was observed. The L and b values d ec reased as the amount of butterbur powder increased, but the value was the lowest when 5% of butterbur powder was added. The sensory liking score showed the highest preference for 10% butterbur powder regarding appearance, flavor, taste, texture, and overall preference. In the principal component analysis (PCA), the addition of 10% butterbur powder positively affected the measure of food acceptance in terms of organoleptic properties of butterbur. Besides, as the amount of added butterbur powder increased, the antioxidant activity of rice cookies increased. Based on these results, it appears that the addition of butterbur powder to rice cookies in a 10% ratio can produce rice cookies with excellent antioxidant activity, overall quality, and high preference.
We have examined the effect of NO donor, S-nitl‘ oso-N-acetyl-DL-penicillamine(SNAP) on heme oxygenase-1 (HQ-l) ex pression in human oral immortalized & malignant keratinocytes, and investigated in the control of keratinocyte proliferation evidence tha t HO-1 cou ld be involved in a low dose of NO, NO inhibitor, HOinducer, and HO inhibitor medi ated cytoprotect ion against cytotoxi city induced by a high dose of NO Oral keratinocyte growth inhibitory or anti-proliferative effects were exerted by with SNAP and hemin in a dose- and cul tivation time dependent manner The level of HQ-1 protein was increased in all cell types after exposure hernin dose, and the hemin induced HQ-1 protein achieved at higher maximum level by 12 hrs in all kind of cells , The pretreatment of cells with 0, 2 μ M SNAP reduced 1 mM SNAP-induced death in IHOK and HN4 cells , These cytoprotective effects on high dose of NO induced HQ-1 expresion and cell ular toxicity were blocked by low dose of SNAP, HCB, and ZnPP IX supporting the involvement of HQ-1 in high dose NO induced growth arrest or cell death, But these cytoprotection pattern is different from immortalized and malignant keratinocytes , These results indirectly demonstrate that HQ-1 could be involved in cytoprotection by NO priming against high dose NO induced cytotoxicity in immortalized and maigla nt oral keratinocytes, Thus, HQ-1 might be an important cellular target of NO donor, with clinical implications for the pre vention of inJlammatory di seases and anti-tumor immunity
