TZM alloy having elongated coarse-grain structure was developed by three-step internal nitriding treatment at 1423 to 1873 K in and subsequent recrystallization treatment at 2173 K in vacuum. Some specimens were subjected to re-nitriding treatment at 1873 K for 16 h. After the recrystallization treatment, aspect ratio (L/W) of grains for rolling direction was about 50 at the maximum. Yield stress obtained at 1773 K after re-nitriding treatment was about 6 times as large as that of recrystallized specimen. Re-nitriding was very effective in the improvement in strength of TZM alloy having elongated coarse-grain structure.
In order to overcome the recrystallization embrittlement and irradiation embrittlement of Mo, which are major problems for its fusion applications, internally nitrided Mo alloys were prepared by a novel multi-step internal nitriding. Neutron irradiation was performed in the Japan Material Testing Reactor (JMTR). After irradiation, nitrided Mo alloys exhibited ower ductile-brittle transition temperature than irradiated TZM. These results suggested that multi-step internal nitriding was effective to the improvement in the embrittlement by irradiation. Transmission electron microscope observation revealed that TiN particles precipitated by nitriding acted as a sink for irradiation-induced defects.
For pure Molybdenum carburized in mixed gases of argon and carbon monoxide, microstructural observations were carried out. X-ray diffraction analysis for carburized specimens revealed that brittle - layer hardly formed in the case of low carbon monoxide concentration. Fracture strength of the specimen carburized at 1673 K for 16 h is about 550 MPa higher than that of the un-carburized specimen. SEM observation revealed that with increasing carburizing temperature, the region demonstrating a transgranular fracture mode progressed towards the center of specimen. This result means that the grain boundaries were strengthened by the grain boundary diffusion of carbon and the strength of grain boundaries exceeded that of grain itself.
Internally nitrided dilute W-Ti alloy specimens having a heavily deformed surface microstructure were prepared by a multi-step internal nitriding at 1573-2073 K. Primary nitriding below their recrystallization temperature induced a precipitation of ultrafine TiN particles. After secondary and tertiary nitriding, those precipitates grew into rod-like TiN with a length of 20-60 nm. The recrystallization temperature after nitriding was elevated above 2073 K. The yield strength at 1773 K obtained from nitrided W-0.5 mass% Ti alloy was about 5 times as large as that of the recrystallized specimen. DBTT of the nitrided alloys was about 373 K.
Effects of sintering conditions such as sintering temperature and heating rate on oxygen content, density, microstructure and toughness of sintered Mo were investigated. The oxygen content of the sintered Mo significantly depended on the sintering conditions. The oxygen content of the primary sintered(below 1673 K) Mo influenced the densifications. The number of pores at grain boundaries of the secondary sintered(at 2073 K)Mo depended on the oxygen content of the primary sintered Mo. Grain growth of the secondary sintered Mo was inhibited by the existence of pores at the grain boundaries. The secondary sintered Mo having larger number of pore and smaller grain size demonstrated higher strength.
Several boride sintered bodies such as , , and were previously reported. In the present study, the sinterability and physical properties of chromium boride containing chromium carbide sintered bodies were investigated in order to determine its new advanced material. The samples were sintered at desired temperature for 1 hour in vacuum under a pressure by hot pressing. The relative density of sintered bodies was measured by Archimedes' method. The relative densities of addition of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 mass% composites were 92 to 95%. The Vickers hardness of the with 10 and 15 mass% composites were about 14 and 15 GPa at room temperature, respectively. The Vickers hardness at high temperature of the addition of 10 mass% composite decreased with increasing measurement temperature. The Vickers hardness at 1273 K of the sample was 6 GPa. The Vickers hardness of addition of composites was higher than monolithic sintered body. The powder X-ray diffraction analysis detected CrB and phases in containing composites.
Mechanochemical synthesis of zinc ferrite, ZnFe2O4, was attempted from a powder mixture of iron (III) oxide, alpha-Fe2O3 and zinc (II) oxide, ZnO. Nanocrystalline zinc ferrite, ZnFe2O4 powders were successfully synthesized only bymilling for 30 hours. Evidence of the ZnFe2O4 formation was absent for the powders milled for 10 and 20 hours; the milling lowered the crystallinity of the starting materials. Heating after milling enhanced the formation of ZnFe2O4, crystal growth of ZnFe2O4 and the unreacted starting materials. The unreacted starting materials decreased their amounts by heating at higher temperatures.
This paper reports several emotion detecting methods based on various attributes of human voice. These methods have been developed at our Engineering Systems Laboratory. It is noted that, in all of the proposed methods, only prosodic information in voice is used for emotion recognition and semantic information in voice is not used. Different types of neural networks(NNs) are used for detection depending on the type of voice parameters. Earlier approaches separately used linear prediction coefficients(LPCs) and time series data of pitch but they were combined in later studies. The proposed methods are explained first and then evaluation experiments of individual methods and their performances in emotion detection are presented and compared.
Clusters of galaxies are filled with X-ray emitted hot gas with the temperature of T ${\~}$ 수식 이미지2-10 keV. Recent X-ray observations have been revealing unexpectedly that many cluster cores have complicated, peculiar X-ray structures, which imply dynamical motion of the hot gas. Moreover, X-ray spectra indicate that radiative cooling of the cool gas is suppressed by unknown heating mechanisms (the 'cooling flow problem'). Here we propose a novel mechanism reproducing both the inhomogeneous structures and dynamics of the hot gas in the cluster cores, based on state-of-the-art hydrodynamic simulations. We showed that acoustic-gravity waves, which are naturally expected during the process of hierarchical structure formation of the universe, surge in the X-ray hot gas, causing a serous impact on the core. This reminds us of tsunamis on the ocean surging into an distant island. We found that the waves create fully-developed, stable turbulence, which reproduces the complicated structures in the core. Moreover, if the wave amplitude is large enough, they can suppress the cooling of the core. The turbulence could be detected in near-future space X-ray missions such as ASTRO-E2.
TiC core/(Ti,Mo)C rim structure in TiC--Ni base cermet which is generally prepared by sintering below 145 had been believed to be generated by the solid diffusion of Mo atoms 1 into TiC grains (D. Moskowitz and M.Humenik, 1r.:1966). Afterward, it was clarified that the c core/rim structure is generated by solution/re-precipitation mechanism : (1) grains and s small TiC grains dissolve into the Ni liquid, (2) the dissolved Mo, Ti and C atoms migrate to the s surface of TiC coarse grains, (3) the Mo, Ti and C precipitate on the surface of TiC coarse g grains and form (Ti,Mo)C solid solution rim, and (4) the Ostwald ripening (grain growth by s solution/re-precipitation mechanism) of TiC-core/(Ti,Mo)-rim grains continues, and thus the w width of (Ti,Mo)C rim (at the same time, the grain size) increases with sintering time, etc. ( (H.Suzuki, K.Hayashi and O.Terada: 1973). The TiC-core was found not to disappear even by s sintering at 190 (ibid.: 1974) Recently, FeSi core/-rim structure in Fe-66.7at%Si thermoelectric aIloy was found to also h hardly shrink and disappear by long heating at an appropriate temperature (1999: M.Tajima and K K.hayashD. Then, the authors considered its cause, and clarified experimentaIly that the disappearance of FeSi-core/-rim structure could be attributed to the exhaustion of diffusion-contributable vacancies in core/rim structure (N.Taniguchi and K.Hayashi:2001). At p present, the authors and my coworker are investigating whether the non-disappearance of TiC c core can be explained also from the new hypothesis "Exhaustion of diffusion-contributable v vacancies in corelrim structure".ure".uot;.
From the point of breeding view for our future, 20 Korean varieties of red pepper for the contents of capsaicinoids, free amino acids, free fatty acids and organic acids with powder product and eating qualities were chosen, and the sensory properties of their water and ethanol extract were compared in order to investigate the influence of the composition of test components on sensory acceptability of Korean red pepper. The composition of taste components in red pepper powder varied wildly depending on the varieties; total capsaicinoids content variety from 0.029 to 0.913%, free sugar 8.45 to 20.2%, and organic acid 4.58 to 19.54%. Capsaicinoid contents especially dihydrocapsaicin content, were highly correlated with pungent taste of the methanol extract of red pepper power, but did not show significant relationship to the overall sensory acceptability. However, the components analyzed here and eating and processing qualities include high variations and future breeding sources.
Co-segregation of male fertility with DNA markers selected by RAPD analysis as being potentially linked to the restorer gene (Rf) for Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) was analyzed using segregating F2 population. One RAPD marker directly linked to the Rf locus was identified. Amplification of OPT-02/570 using the STS primers generated a monomorphic band of each fertile plants randomly selected F2 progenies. From these results, this specific marker would be strongly linked to be restoring gene. The use of STS marker is effective in overcoming the reliability of the RAPD phenotype and improving their utility for MAS, co-dominant STS markers are especially very useful.
We characterized the resistances such as to waterlogging, Phytophythora and viruses in hybrids between Italian and Korean mother lines and screened them for complex resistances and agronomic traits to select elite multi-resistant lines for hybrid breeding. Resistance to waterlogging was selectable due to diversity of the resistance. Phytophythora resistance introduced from Italian lines could also be combined with resistance to other diseases and restoration abilities from cytoplasmic male sterility that has been maintained in Korean varieties.
