        In this study, a drainage-regulated type geotextile tube structure was proposed. The structure is composed of high permeability polypropylene(PP) and low permeability (PET) fabric in which the lengths of the fabric depend on the circumference ratio of the cross section. The purpose is to reduce the pressure inside the geotextile tube structure during filling as much as possible. Experimental study on the characteristics of the geotextile tube structure according to the permeability of the geotextile was also carried out. Experimental results of 4 small scaled geotextile tube structures showed that the bottom section formed as drainage type can reduce the filling pressure as well as increase the sedimentation height which confirms as the optimum cross section of the tube.

        A nepticulid leaf-mine ichnofossil is described on the basis of a fossil leaf of Fagus from the early Miocene Geumgwangdong Formation (ca. 21–14 million years ago) in Pohang basin. This mine trace is characterized by a linear-blotch type with clear centric frass trail of closely and randomly dispersed pellets filling the mine width in early stage. We found traces of possible egg case and exit slit from the fossil. These features are most consistent with those produced by Nepticulidae. Our record represents the only reliably-identified nepticulid leaf-mine on Fagus in Miocene. Nepticulid leaf-mines in Miocene and the leaf-mine fossils from the Geumgwangdong Formation are briefly reviewed.

        Red meats are important animal foods because of their nutritional aspects, but the over-consumption of red meat produces reactive oxygen species (ROS) caused by heme iron and induces colorectal cancer. The effect of orally administered hemin and calcium provided in drinking water for 6 weeks on colon carcinogenesis was observed in male ICR mice. After the mice were acclimated for 1 week, they received three subcutaneous azoxymethane (AOM, 10 mg/kg b.w.) injections weekly and were provided with 2% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) via drinking water for the next week. The mice were divided into three groups: the control, hemin, and hemin + calcium groups. The orally administered daily dose of hemin was 2 g/kg b.w., and 0.05% calcium was provided daily via drinking water. Colonic mucosa samples were stained with methylene blue, and then, the numbers of aberrant crypt (AC) and aberrant crypt foci (ACF) were counted. Lipid peroxidation in feces was estimated by thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) assay. The total numbers of AC and ACF per colon in the hemin group were significantly higher than those in the control group. Calcium treatment significantly decreased the numbers of ACF and AC in the colon of mice. The TBARS value in the feces of the hemin + calcium group was significantly lower than that in the feces of the hemin group. These results showed that hemin enhances the formation of pre-neoplastic lesions in the colon of mice and that calcium decreases the risk of colon carcinogenesis.

        과실파리류는 국내 60종의 검역 해충 가운데 42종을 차지하고 있다. 이들 대부분은 자연계 산물인 methyl eugenol (ME) 또는 raspberry ketone에 특이적으로 유인된다. 이들 유인물질을 파라핀 왁스를 이용하여 제형화하였고, 이를 대만에서 야외 유인 효과를 검증하였다. 이들 왁스 제형은 모두 델타트랩에 설치하고 8월 말경에 모니터링 한 결과 ME 왁스 제형은 오리엔탈과실파리(Bactrocera dorsalis)를 매일 60-80 마리 포획하 였다. 반면에 Cuelure 왁스제형은 오이과실파리(Bactrocera cucurbitae)와 B. tau를 유인하였다. 이러한 결과는 본 왁스제형이 이들 검역 해충에 대 한 국내 모니터링에 응용될 수 있다는 것을 제시하고 있다.

        Carbon nanofibers (CNF) are widely used as active agents for electrodes in Li-ion secondary battery cells, supercapacitors, and fuel cells. Nanoscale coatings on CNF electrodes can increase the output and lifespan of battery devices. Atomic layer deposition (ALD) can control the coating thickness at the nanoscale regardless of the shape, suitable for coating CNFs. However, because the CNF surface comprises stable C–C bonds, initiating homogeneous nuclear formation is difficult because of the lack of initial nucleation sites. This study introduces uniform nucleation site formation on CNF surfaces to promote a uniform SnO2 layer. We pretreat the CNF surface by introducing H2O or Al2O3 (trimethylaluminum + H2O) before the SnO2 ALD process to form active sites on the CNF surface. Transmission electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy both identify the SnO2 layer morphology on the CNF. The Al2O3-pretreated sample shows a uniform SnO2 layer, while island-type SnOx layers grow sparsely on the H2Opretreated or untreated CNF.

        There are various manufacturing processes for pure SiO2 that is used as abrasives, chemicals, filters, and glasses, and in metallurgy and optical industries. In the optical fiber industry, to produce SiO2 preform, SiCl4 is utilized as a raw material. However, the combustion reaction of SiCl4 has caused critical environmental issues, such as ozone deficiency by chlorine compounds, the greenhouse effect by carbon dioxide and corrosive gas such as hydrochloric acid. Thus, finding an alternative source that does not have those environmental issues is important for the future. Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (OMCTS or D4) as a chlorine free source is recently promising candidate for the SiO2 preform formation. In this study, we first conducted a vaporizer design to vaporize the OMCTS. The vaporizer for the OMCTS vaporization was produced on the basis of the results of the vaporizer design. The size of the primary particle of the SiO2 formed by OMCTS was less than 100 nm. X-ray diffraction patterns of the SiO2 indicated an amorphous phase. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed the Si-O-Si bond without the -OH group.

        이 글에서는 양수명의 초기 저작인 󰡔동서 문화 및 그 철학󰡕에서 드러나는 문화생성이론 및 그 한계를 고찰했다. 양수명은 먼저 ‘의욕’과 ‘생활’이라는 두 개념으로 문화의 생성과정을 설명하고, ‘문화 삼노선’ 을 통해 서방․중국․인도문화의 특징을 분석했으며, ‘문화 조숙’이론을 통해 중국문화의 가치를 논증했다. 그러나 이와 같은 전개과정은 내재적 모순이 있음을 발견할 수 있다. 그가 제기한 ‘문화 삼노선’은 ‘문화 상대주의’, ‘문화다원론’의 입장을 취하는 것이다. 그러나 ‘문화조숙’이론은 ‘문화절대주의’, ‘문화일원론’ 의 입장을 취하는 것이다. 이처럼 양수명의 문화관에 논리적 모순이 존재하는 이유는, 그가 동서 문화의 문제를 탐구한 목적이 유가문화의 시대적 가치를 논증하고 나아가 유가문화가 위주가 되는 현대화의 길 을 찾는데 있었기 때문이다. 그는 처음부터 유가문화에 대한 강한 신념을 품고 있었기 때문에 공정하게 문화의 문제를 탐구하고 논리적으로 분석하는 것은 애초에 불가능했을지도 모른다.

        SiAlON-based ceramics are some of the most typical oxynitride ceramic materials, which can be used as cutting tools for heat-resistant super-alloys (HRSA). SiAlON can be fabricated by using gas-pressure reactive sintering from the raw materials, nitrides and oxides such as Si3N4, AlN, Al2O3, and Yb2O3. In this study, we fabricate Ybm/3Si12-(m+n)Alm+nOnN16-n (m=0.3, n=1.9, 2.3, 2.7) ceramics by using gas-pressure sintering at different sintering temperatures. Then, the densification behavior, phase formation, microstructure, and hardness of the sintered specimens are characterized. We obtain a fully densified specimen with β- SiAlON after gas-pressure sintering at 1820℃ for 90 min. under 10 atm N2 pressure. These SiAlON ceramic materials exhibited hardness values of ~92.9 HRA. The potential of these SiAlON ceramics for cutting tool application is also discussed.

        In plants, starch is the main carbohydrate reserve and an important ingredient in human nutrition. Nutritionally, starch is classified into rapidly digestible starch (RDS), slowly digestible starch (SDS), and resistant starch (RS) based on the rate and degree of digestion. RS escapes enzymatic digestion in the small intestine, but in the large intestine microbial flora may ferment some RS. Malic acid is C4 carboxylic acid with two carboxyl groups. It is well known to take from 69% up to 92% of all organic acids in grape berries and leaves and is naturally produced by many organisms without showing any nutritional harm. However, properties of malic acid treated starch has not been clearly reported. The objectives of this study were to investigate the influence of pH value on low-digestible malate starch formation and digestibility in relation to structural properties of corn starch. Different pH values (1.5-8.5) of 2 M malic acid solution were reacted with corn starch in a forced-air oven at temperature of 130°C for 12 hr. Using FT-IR, carbonyl groups were detected in malate starch, indicating the formation of cross-linking by esterification. Increasing pH value of malic acid-treated sample from 1.5 to 8.5 showed an increase in degree of substitution (DS) and resulted in increase in the RS content from 18.2 to 74.8%, which was maintained after gelatinization. The granular structure of malate starches was not destroyed, and the starches maintained birefringence. This malate starch could be utilized in heat processed foods such as bread and cookies as well as in the products with reduced calories.

        A series of amphiphilic block copolymers consisting of hydrophobic poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(polyethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate) (PPEGEMA) were synthesized by Cu based ATRP and utilized as an additive to prepare asymmetric ultrafiltration (UF) membranes by non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) with PVDF. Obtained PVDF based UF membranes gave in-situ hydrophilic surfaces on the hydrophobic PVDF matrix because of strong compatibility PMMA block segment to PVDF and the hydrophilicty of PPEGMA block segment to the non-solvent (water), which showed improved water flux in comparison to neat PVDF UF membrane.

        연료전지용 고분자 전해질막에 있어서 가장 중요한 특성인 수소이온 전달 능력은 내부에서 형성되는 수화채널의 분포 및 형상에 큰 영향을 받게 된다. 비과불화탄소계인 탄화수소계 전해질막의 경우, 과불화탄소계 전해질막인 나피온에 비 하여 이러한 수화채널이 약하게 형성되는 것으로 알려져 있으며 따라서 상대적으로 낮은 이온전달 성능을 나타내는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 컴퓨터를 이용한 전산모사 기술의 하나인 메조스케일 전산모사 기술을 이용하여 탄화수소계 연료전지용 전해질막인 술폰화 폴리이미드의 가습조건에서의 수화채널 형성 및 상분리 현상을 관찰하였다. 이를 통하여 술폰 화 폴리이미드 내부에서 물분자 비드는 친수성 영역 전체에 걸쳐서 고르게 분포되며 명확한 수화 클러스터는 높은 술폰화도 에서만 형성되는 것이 관찰되었다. 또한, 술폰화 폴리이미드 모델은 저가습 상태에서 수화 채널을 형성하는데에 나피온 모델 에 비하여 더 어렵다는 것이 관찰되었다. 이러한 결과들은 비과불화불소계인 탄화수소계 전해질막의 수화채널 형성에 대한 기존 이론을 명확하게 뒷받침하고 있으며, 술폰화 폴리이미드의 전도도 경향도 잘 설명을 하고 있다. 따라서 메조스케일 전산 모사 기술은 연료전지용 전해질막의 상분리 현상 및 수화채널을 분석하고 이온전도 특성을 규명하는 데에 있어서 매우 효과 적인 기술이 될 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다.
