        A kinetic study for nitrate removal by anion exchange resin was performed using continuous column reactors. Kinetic approach from the packed bed showed the reaction rate constant k1 was 0.07∼0.17 ℓ/㎎·hr and maximum exchange quantity q0 was 27.75∼31.81 ㎎/g. The results from the continuous column well agreed with that from the batch reactor. An economic analysis of the water treatment plant by anion exchange resin with a regenerating system was performed to design plant and process. Based on the treatment of 20 ㎎/ℓ nitrate-contained wastewater of 10,000 gallons per day to 2 ㎎/ℓ , total capital cost and total annual cost are estimated to be 836 million wons and 211 million wons, respectively.

        In the present paper, batch and semi-continuous settling characteristics of a binary calcium carbonatewater system were investigated. Using experimental data of batch settling characteristics, a graphical analysis for a semi-continuous thickening column was developed and compared with experimental results on the basis of Kynch theory, only where the feed velocity line was within the limits of Kynch theorem Ⅲ. The analysis showed good agreement with experiments. Quite erroneous results, however, was observed for the analysis of a sludge region on the underloaded operation, which was considered due to the deviation from the limits of theory.

        Chong, Song-Yun. 1988. Connected Speech and Lexical Phonology. Studies in Modern Grammatical Theories 12, 19-37. In this paper I describe several aspects of the postlexical phonology in conjunction with Connected Speech(CS). As a first step to explicate the interaction between words when they are strung together into CS, I, following Kaisse(1990), segregate the rules of CS into two types, namely, Registerdependent rule which is sensitive to syntactic information and Rate-dependent rule sensitive to phonological environment. Secondly, to utilize the two types of rules properly in postlexical domain, I argue that postlexical rules in current Lexical Phonology should be further elaborated by postulating two levels; P1 and P2 levels. In P1 level, rules are applicable for cliticization (the main proposition in this paper) and phonological word(or phrase) (e.g. stress system, intonation, and other prosodic structure). In P2 level, pure phonological rules(such as flapping, vowel nasalization, nasal deletion, word-final stop deletion) are optionally operated. In between P1 and P2, the Pause should be inserted in order to preserve the linguistic structure. To establish the proposed corollary, I present every possible argument and, thus, confirm that the theoretical basis is justifiable.

        In this paper, discontinuity parts in microstrip line with λ/4 open stub and one in crank type have been anlayzed by using FDTD(Finite-Difference Time-Domain) analysis method. The noise components, in this case, are occred at the discontinuites of the given microstrip lines, the complex poles were extracted by the analysis using GPOF (Generalized Pencil-of Function) method from electric field of time domain. It has, then, been found that the noise level and the noise frequency components included in signal could be derived.

        Sequencing Batch Reactor(SBR) experiments for organics and nutrients removal have been conducted to find an optimum anaerobic/anoxic/aerobic cycling time and evaluate the applicability of oxidation-reduction potential(ORP) as a process control parameter. In this study, a 6 ℓ bench-scale plant was used and fed with night-soil wastewater in K city which contained TCODcr : 10,680 ㎎/ℓ, TKN : 6,893 ㎎/ℓ, NH_4^+ -N : 1,609 ㎎/ℓ, PO_4^3- -P : 602 ㎎/ℓ on average. The cycling time in SBRs was adjusted at 12 hours and 24 hours, and then certainly included anaerobic, aerobic and anoxic conditions. Also, for each cycling time, we performed 3 series of experiment simultaneously which was set up 10 days, 20 days and 30 days as SRT. From the experimental results, the optimum cycling time for biological nutrient removal with night-soil wastewater was respctively 3hrs, 5hrs, 3hrs(anaerobic-aerobic-anoxic). Nitrogen removal efficiency was 77.9%, 77.9%, 81.7% for each SRT, respectively. When external carbon source was fed in the anoxic phase, ORP-bending point indicating nitrate break point appeared clearly and nitrogen removal efficiency increased as 96.5%, 97.1%, 98.9%. Phosphate removal efficiency was 59.8%, 64.5%, 68.6% for each SRT. Also, we finded the applicability of ORP as a process control parameter in SBRs.

Substrate used was synthetic wastewater in which the ratio of COD_cr : N : P was 100 : 12 : 2. The cycling time in SBRs was adjusted at 6 hours and 8 hours, and then certainly included anaerobic and aerobic conditions. Also, for each cycling time, we performed 2 series of experiment simultaneously which was set up 10 days and 20 days as SRT. The removal efficiency of COD_cr, was over 97% in all operating conditions. In the 6 hours cycling time, the removal efficiency of PO_4^3- -P reached almost 100% in steady state. And then we could observe a typical phenomena of phosphorus release and uptake, and the removal efficiency of N was 67%. Residual N source was almost TKN and most of the rest remained as NO_2^- -N. Also the difference in both SRTs was not observed practically. In the 8 hours cycling time, dissolution of sludge appeared. and, PO_4^3- -P was not nearly removed but nitrogen was removed up to 75%. And the residual nitrogen was accumulated as NO_2^- -N.

        두과식물인 자운영을 논에 재배하여 유기물 및 질소공급원으로 활용함과 동시에 피복식물로서 잡초방제등 부수적인 효과를 얻기 위하여 자운영 방치, 예취 제거 등 그 이용방법을 달리하여 1995년과 1996년 2년동안 경상남도농촌진흥원 포장에서 시험을 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 시험후 토양화학성은 자운영 이용방법의 차이에 따라 일정한 경향이 없었으며, 토양심도별로 비교하여 보면 pH와 Ca, Mg는 심토(10~20cm)에서, 유기물과 P2 O5, K는 표토(0~10cm)에서 그 함량이 높았다. 2. 토양의 산화환원전위는 자운영 예취구의 담수초기 때 심한 환원상태를 보이다가 시일이 경과함에 따라 그 정도가 완화되는 경향이었으며, 자운영을 방치하였을 경우 다른 처리에 비하여 환원 정도가 더 심하였고, 최고분얼기경에 다시 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 3. 잡초방제후 최고분얼기경 잡초발생은 자운영 방치답에서 가장 많았고, 다음이 예취후 제거답이었으며, 비선택성 제초제를 살포하여 자운영을 고사시킨 답에서는 그 발생량이 가장 적었다. 4. 벼 입모율은 자운영 재배답에서 가장 낮았고, 출수기 때의 생육은 각 처리간 비슷하였으며, 수량은 자운영 경운답에서 가장 높고, 다음이 관행 경운답이었으며, 자운영을 방치 혹은 예취후 제거하거나 비선택성 제초제를 살포하여 고사시킨 답에서 다소 감수되는 경향이었다.
