Radiobeacons that carry corrections for global satellite navigation systems are currently being planned or installed in many countries. In early 1996, it was begun to send DGPS correction message from a marine radiobeacon station located in Changgi Got Lighthouse. It was the first test broadcast of DGPS correction data based on medium frequency of marine radiobeacon where transmission power and rate are 300W and 100bps respectively in Korea. However, there has not been any scientific study on the characteristic of the accuracy of a marine radiobeacon/DGPS. Accordingly, this paper investigates the accuracy of the system, which is currently operating in 310kHz. To do this , the real time differential correction in RTCM data was collected in an implemented system. And then the accuracy was analyzed related to the coverge of the radiobeacon/DGPS. As a result, it is verified that the differential positioning accuracy using the marine radiobeacon is sufficient to ensure the safety of marine activities around the coast of Korea.

In this paper, discontinuity parts in microstrip line with λ/4 open stub and one in crank type have been anlayzed by using FDTD(Finite-Difference Time-Domain) analysis method. The noise components, in this case, are occred at the discontinuites of the given microstrip lines, the complex poles were extracted by the analysis using GPOF (Generalized Pencil-of Function) method from electric field of time domain. It has, then, been found that the noise level and the noise frequency components included in signal could be derived.

Traffic density has increased recently in Korean waters due to an expansion of the sea trade and the development of coastal fisheries. The enlargement of the coastal industrial belts and the development of coastal inslands further increases marine traffic. The rapid increase of marine traffic has often resulted in marine casualties with the attendant loss of life, damage to property, and marine pollution. Especially, tanker casualties may destroyed the food web and an untold amount of ocean resources. Un regard to the potential of tanker spills in Korean waters, systematic research in this field is lacking. In this paper, the data relating to a total of 261 tanker casualties in Korean waters has been compiled and statistically anlaysed. The result of this study describes the general trend of marine casualties in Korean waters, and describes the casualtiy database, from which their causes and consequences are derived and this results in the determination of the causal relationships connected to tanker casualties, and quantifies the effective level of causal factorsin Korean waters.

The technology of navigational instruments and the profession of going to sea have entered a time of dramatic change. A paradigm shift is taking place which will eventually make the industry unrecognizable to those who first went to sea only twenty years ago. This change is most emphatically seen in three areas: Automatic Identification System(AIS), Electronic Chart Display and Information System(ECDIS), and Voyage Data Recoreder(VDR). In order to make these new instruments to be fitted on board commerical ships, international requirements for enhacing the safety of navigation on the world's waterways, the Chapter V of International Convention for the Safety of Life at sea, 1974 as ameded(hereinafter referred to as "SOLAS"), are being also changed.o changed.

In this paper, RF receiver for CDMA system which has 10 MHz in the channel bandwidth has been designed and fabricated. The designed and fabricated RF receiver is shown useful in operation and the performance has been confirmed by experiments. The results are to be used for establishment of a broadband CDMA wireless access specification standard for WLL system in 2.3 GHz band.

본 논문에서는 TV 주파수에 있어서 건조물에 의해 발생하는 전자파장해를 평가하기 위해 건축물 주위의 산란전자계를 수치계산하였다. 건축물 외벽에 전파흡수체를 부분적으로 부착한 경우 콘크리트면의 노출면적과 반사전계강도와의 관계를 조사하였다. 계산된 산란 전자계로부터 DU 비를 구해 TV 고스트방지를 위하여 건축물 외벽에 부착할 전파흡수체에 요구되는 반사 감쇠량을 구하였다.

It is one of the most important factors Seafarers Ducation Quality Assurance and Management in Higher Maritime Educational Institution. The educational process and result of Higher Maritime Educational Institution should be evaluated according to the 1995 Amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers(STCW), 1978. Actually above-mentioned evaluation is deemed to make foundation in order to enhance the efficiency of shipboard education by surveying the satisfaction of shipboard training for nautical part cadets by the group. In this paper, we carried out the questionnaire survey to study satisfactory value and the reason of dissatisfaction of 113 cadets being trained on board the Training Ship in Maritime College of Korea Maritime University(K. M. U.). The results were calculated by frequency and percentage ; the significance of difference among Department groups like Maritime Transportation Science, Maritime Police and Ship Operating Systems Engineering was analysed by 2 inspection. The major results of above analysis were as follows : First training chance for dadets was very little for being overflowed on board the training ship of the K. M. U. Second, special type of Training Ship HANBADA and HANNARA made the adaptability to merchant vessel's handling restricted. Third, cadets could not manage ratings directly, therefore the education in regard to seafaring management was limited to the theoretical instruction which leads to the low level of satisfaction. And lastly, low value of satisfaction for Drydocking Education in Shipyard was caused by cadet's leaving the Training Ship on account of the safety problems including ship and cadets.

When an automatic course-keeping is concerned , as is quite popular in modern navigation, the closed-loop steering system consists of autopilot device, power unit(or telemotor unit), steering gear, magnetic or gyro compass and ship dynamics. In order to estimate steering system of ship in open seas, we need to know the characteristics of each component of the system and also to know the characteristics of disturbance to ship dynamics. Calculation methods of irrgular disturbances are based on the linear superposition principle. In this paper, for the purpose of evaluation of automatic steering of ships , the influences of linear control constants of autopilot on propulsive energy loss are investigated bya performance index is introduced from the viewpoint of energy saving. Numberical calculations are carried out for an are carrier and for a fishing boat in multi-directional waves.

Traditionally, in the education for the trainees of marine officier, the emphasis is laid on the practical training on board to prepare them for the future position on board and to fit them for the shipboard life. Though the education has been carried out in various ways according to each country's social tradition, culture and educational system, in these days it is done normally by the combined way of school education and training on board to get the competence for the marine officer. Thus the shipboard training course is compulsively required to the candidates for certification as merchant marine officers by the IMO STCW convention 1978 and also it is believed that the education for the dacet officers is to be completed through the shipboard training. In spite of the various earlier studies to improve the training education system, there are few studies for the matters and problems form the standing point of cadet.
