From the beginning of 1990s , also in the shipping industry, especially liner shipping industry competition has been more intensive and difference of the service quality among shipping companies has been learned . On the other hand, a shipping company has some limitations to do its international mission for itself just by broadening service area. For this reason, the necessity for the global strategi alliance among the shipping companies, which is orginally aimed at sharing of facilities and organixation, has been developed. Through strategic alliance, liner shipping companies do not need to input the additional capitals to increase the material assets such as vessel capacity and spread the risk by the enlargement of the market. Also, they can secure the competitive edge through efficient utilizaton of assets. The purpose of strategic alliance of Hanjin Shipping Ltd., can be summarized as follows ; broadening of service area, cost reduction through vessel sharing, realization of rationalized shipping service by terminal and equipment or facilities sharing. Liner strategic alliances are agreement among liner companies to pol their equipment , andterminals for joint operations and services in which each alliance partner continues to serve its market using jointly operated or used inland feeders,inland terminals, port terminals, and mainline fleets of ship as well as joint pools of containers and equipment. Strategic alliances are generally more formal agreements than consortia and impose longer term and far reaching obligation on their members. It also acts as one in developing and advancing the strategic aims of the alliance members. The most important objective for liner strategic alliances is cost reduction and improvement in capital asset utilization. Main aims of strategic alliance drawn in this paper, can be enumerated follows : 1. improvements in service frequency and quality : 2. improvements in vessel and equipment utilization and thereby reductions in fixed and variable cost ; 3. improvements in market shares and high value cargo booking ; 4. reductions in intermodal storage and port terminal throughput costs ; 5. improvements in negotiating powers with ports and feeder transport providers ; 6. reduction in financial and other fixed costs such as insurance; 7. coordination and integration of MIS and EDI systems and service for greater efficiency and market penetration ; and, 8. improvements in logistic chain management and economic of scale by equipment depot, terminal, and vessel sharing.

It is one of the important study for improving education quality to investigate School climate, Campus Life and Academic Achievement in University. This study focuses on the of success / failure attribution in academic achievement and its internal-external attribution of Maritime college students. The main purpose of this study was investigate the relationship between the perception of college climate and attribution of success and failure about college life and cadet's academic performance. The subjects were 490 cadets of freshman, sophomore and junior of Korea Maritime University. The data was analysed by Pearson's correlation, one-way and simple factorial ANOV A, 2, and t-test by using SPSSWIN Ver. 7.5 programme. The major results of this study were as follows : 1. Social relationship orientation was higher than the others on the perception of college climate, while the relationship between professor and collegian was lower. 2. The most collegian recognized on the attribution of failure about the college life and the relationship between professor and collegian. But most collegian recognized on the attribution of sucess about collegian's relationship. 3. The perception of college climate and attribution of success / failure was not influenced on the student's academic performance and academic adaptability.

Under Chinese law system, the maritime law is a special branch of the civil law. For this reason, the maritime litigation shall be governed correspondently by the civil prodecure law. However, since the maritime litigation has its own special prodecure which is different from that of general procedure, there must be some special regulations to be a supplement to the civil procedure law. In this paper, a study is made on such regulations which are "The Regulations Relating to the arrest of Ships Before Litigation" and "The Regulations Concerning the Auction of Ships Which Have Been Arrested by Maritime Court for Clearing off the Debts" The aim of this paper is to describe the basic principles established in the regulations mentioned above in order to make the people who are unfamiliar with Chinese maritime legislation to be understood about Chinese special procedure adopted in maritime litigation.maritime litigation.

It is very important to measure and monitor hull stress which is caused by a buoyant force and a weight of cargo for safety of ship. However, an exact measurement of hul stress, using the traditional strain gage which is made of metal or semiconductor, is very difficult, because a ship would be exposed by the severe temperature environment of -20 ℃ to 80 ℃. This paper propose a new concept strain gage which can improve accuracy and compensage effectively affects due to temperature. The strain gage is consists of two parts. One is the Hull Deformation Amplifier which introuce several lever and link system, and another is a transducer converting distance into voltage signal. The HDA measure the amount of deformation and amplify it. And a lever and link system of the HDA is introduced for compensating temperature deformation by installing in perpendicular direction without stress. This paper also reports on the results of the experiments to verify linearity of the strain gage.

In this paper, applications of neural networks to vibration control of flexible single link robot manipulator are ocnsidered. The architecture of neural networks is a hidden layer, which is comprised of self-recurrent one. Tow neural networks are utilized in a control system ; one as an identifier is called neuro identifier and the othe ra s a controller is called neuro controller. The neural networks can be used to approximate any continuous function to any desired degree of accuracy and the weights are updated by dynamic error-backpropagation algorithm(DEA). To guarantee concegence and to get faster learning, an approach that uses adaptive learning rates is developed by introducing a Lyapunov function. When a flexible manipulator is ratated by a motor through the fixed end, transverse vibration may occur. The motor torque should be controlle dinsuch as way, that the motor is rotated by a specified angle. while simulataneously stabilizing vibration of the flexible manipulators so that it is arrested as soon as possible at the end of rotation. Accurate vibration control of lightweight manipulator during the large body motions, as well as the flexural vibrations. Therefore, dynamic models for a flexible single link manipulator is derived, and LQR controller and nerual networks controller are composed. The effectiveness of the proposed nerual networks control system is confirmed by experiments.

This paper described the method and the result of making a dynamic fiber optic gyrocompass measuring the heading angles of ships by processing the output signal from a constant rotating fiber optic sensor and also showed the measurement to test the performance of our system. Considerig an economical view we designed and ordered a cheap medium grade fiber densors increased not fiber length but the diameter of a fiber sensing loop. The scale factor and noise was 267mV/deg/s and 2 deg/hr/Hz(1Σ), respectively. We made the dynamic fiber optic gyrocompass by this sensor. We measured the heading angles in an arbitrary direction to evaluate the accuracy of our system and the root mean square error was 0.4˚. Moreover, we measured the angles ineach direction of 45˚. successive rotation to know whether this system has distoritions in a specific direction or not and the root mean square error in this case was 0.5˚.

현재 자동차나 선박등에 사용하는 직류모터 속도 제어용 스위칭 소자는 스위칭 과전압으로 인하여 때때로 손상되거나 오작동을 일으키기쉽다. 본논문은 dc 모터 제어용 반도체 스위칭소자의 내성특성을 개선한 것이다. 이를 위하여, 먼저 저전압 보호소자인 비리스터나 제너 다이오드 등 가운데에서 스위칭 과전압에 대해 내성을 갖는 이상적인 소자를 선택하기 위해 과전압 보호자의 등가회로를 분석 하였다. 나아가서 국제규정에서 정의된 의사 과전압 파형의 적절한 선택, 스위칭 소자의 손상과정과 손상원인을 규명하고, 순시과전압 전류의 변화에 따른 각각의 임피던스 조건을 고려하여 직류모터 제어용 반도체 스위칭 소자의 내성특성 개선하였다.

Damage stability is generally very important as a part of rescue technique of damaged ship and also in connection with the requirements of MARPOL73/78[2]. Damage stability calculation program has been developed and suggest, which can be used on an onboard computer for any operating drafts. The program is based on lost buoyancy method for calculation of final drafts, and also based on added mass method for calculation of residual righting arm. The numerical method suggested by Hamamoto-Kim[6] is adopted for calculation of intact righting arm(GZ). The model experiments on damage stability are also carried out in a small tank with tanker model 2.385 meters long. The experimental results are compared with the calculations by the suggested method.
