The motion of a small boat in seas is affected in relatively higher degrees than the case of a larger ship by the specific characteristics of sea waves, i.e., the wave length and height. Ship's motion caused by sea waves is a matter of special importance to small fishing boats, because they carry out fishing job in rough seas frequently. This is an experimental study on the rolling and pitching motions of full scale ship. In the experiment, the ship's motions were measured for head, how, beam, quarter and following seas. The experiment were carried out on board the training ship Pusan 404(160 GT) in the adjacent waters off NAM HYENG JAE DO on Dec. 13th 1994. The sea condition during the measurements was that wave height 2.5m, no swell and the wind velocity of 12 m/sec. Some statistic considerations were given to the observed data by the series analysis methods and discussed in this paper.
We are confronted with the serious EMI(electromagnetic interference) problems in company with the development of electronic equipments. Accordingly it is also required to construct some anechoic chambers for EMI measurement. Furthermore it is very important to evaluate the chamber characteristics in advance of its construction. For that purpose we have analyzed the characteristics by computer simulation in base on the image method, and compared the results with the measured ones. In case of 3-meter method as a result, the curved line of height pattern of open site varies similarly as that of height pattern of anechoic chamber. When we measure the electromagnetic strength and can get the height pattern curves by frequencies, we utilized it effectively because we can protect instrumental errors in measurement. On the other hand, there is a little difference in site attenuation above 700MHz. When the ferrite grid was used however, the calculated values agree well with the measured values up to 1000MHz with the exception of 30-40 MHz range. The reason is that we don't consider the antenna coupling in the low frequencies of 30-100MHz range.
SART(Search and Rescue Radar Transponder) is a radar transponder capable of operating in the 9GHz band, which is one element of GMDSS. The fundamental function of the SART is to indicate its position. Thus, it is so much available to assist SAR operation when an emergency and casualty occur at any sea area. In the thesis, we designed, manufactured each part of circuit to develop the advanced SART and configured to test the characteristics in many ways. As the result of detailed things, we confirmed that the developed SART could be high possibility of production.
In the process of containerization, the problem of regional maldistribution of container management plan arises seriously due to several factors like a number of unbalances of containers between loading and discharging ports. This study focus on the minimizing cost. This study is composed of two models which in effective management decision making show decision of the number of containers and transfer of empty containers. One is decision of the number of containers which carriers should possess by appropriate forecasting and the other is effective management decision making which includes the transfer of empty containers on calling ports. This study has suggested as follows, First, the Time Series analysis method, especially the "Exponential Smooting with Trend Adjustment" was used to forecast the trade volumes for the designated traffic route. Second, the Time Series analysis method in deciding the optimal number of owned container at the unbalances trade situation between East Bound and West Bound service, most important variables were found such as total traffic volume, the calling interval at a port, the number of days of voyage and the length of stay on shore of container for the optimal number of owned container. Third, effective management decision making model, which makes it possible to analyze the impacts of change in important matters such as lease and positioning policy, and actually influence decision making.on making.
What is the national competitive power\ulcorner What are the determinants of national competitive advantage\ulcorner In order to find these problems, this study was initiated theoretically through the international trade theory and international managerial strategic theory. The flow of studies, in connection with these competitive advantage, come into industries competitive advantage from national competitive advantage. It is understood that the flow of studies is based on the change of paradigm about the international industry environment. Today, the international industry environment has been changed into vigorous situation with the new trade system such as globalization, UR negotiation, WTO system instead of GATT. Among these environments, all enterprises in any industries should try to enhance their benefit, income profits and develop their management strategy, because it is essential for them to keep and make a profit in order to be competitive against all other rivaling enterprises. According to researchers and the ages of history, the concept and determinants of competitive advantage have been dissimiliar as followings. 1) Theory of absolute advantage : Absolute Product Cost. 2) Theory of comparative advantage : Comparative Product Cost. 3) Theory of reciprocal demand : the Reciprocal Demand Structure. 4) Theory of Hechsher-Ohlin : Factor Endowment. 5) Paradox of Leontief : the Quality of Factor Endowment. 6) Theory of technological gap : R & D. 7) Technological gap model : The Technological Gap. 8) Theory of the product life cycle : Product Life Cycle. 9) Christensen's study : Firm's character & manager's character. 10) Monopolistic Advantage Theories : Monopolistic Advantage 11) Electic theory : Ownership, location and internalization specific advantages. 12) Theory of value chain : Cost advantage, Differentiation, Focus. However all these theories have the limit of illustration regarding today's competitive situation, the Porter's theory shows well the determinants of competitive advantage with competitive strategy. Therefore, the analysis of the competitive advantage for maritime industry should be studied by the determinants of competitive advantage of nations
Various types of optical gyroscopes have been proposed and researched to the present in the world. This paper provides an overview of the types of optical gyroscopes, and also introduces technical principles, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages for each type. Moreover, the critical problems in a design have been discussed.
