The aim of this thesis is to examine the examples of developing missionary attitude through community training of the department of Doxology in Jeonju university founded upon christian principals and to suggest some applicable ways. The purpose of the department of Doxology in Jeonju university is to train students to be sincere pastors, missionaries, ministers and lay ministers with excellence of faithful spirituality and worship art, developing spirituality and intellectuality through theology, missiology and doxology and cultivating character through practical training of worship and praise ministry and the community training. The community training in the department of Doxology is a way of spiritual training. All the students who are involved in the training live together in a dormitory during the terms and are to be trained for their regular and individual devotional life. Through these programs students may know the differences between them and understand each other so that they are more to serve one and another and to be equipped as a man of God. The training includes spiritual training programs such as silent prayer meeting (morning prayer): students start a day with it, all nations prayer meeting : closing meeting of a day, campus prayer meeting and Thursday service of the department of Doxology. Also there are relationship training and leadership training. In June, 2013. the department did a survey to know the missionary attitude of the community. The result shows that the students in the 3rd and 4th grade are reading the whole Bible and having individual prayer time more stably and constantly than the 1st and 2nd grade students. In terms of basic concepts of mission, it also reflects that students seem to recognize the importance of the vision and the calling as they have been in the training for hearing and responding to the Word of God. Moreover, they, who have already learned that there are certain necessities in many fields of mission through all nations prayer meeting, answered that it is necessary to choose appropriate ways for missionary works. They are not just aware of the gravity of a missionary life by answering that they would take a part in a short term missionary work but also fully understanding the emphasis of participating in a missionary work. Also, it lets us know that the students never over looks the importance of intercessory prayer by answering that they would pray for mission continuously. The respondents themselves chose answers evenly among the examples of the programmes of the community training which were either helpful or challenging. At the same time, they confirmed that there have certainly been spiritual experience and growth which have brought maturity in character through corresponding life with the Word and the posture of love and serving.“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24,25) All Christians are in one community which is united by God, Jesus Christ and the Cross through the Holy Spirit. In spite of that, under the influence of personalization, segmentation and specialization, in this society, excessive rationalism, diversification and individualism are overflowing. Due to it, even christian belief community is loosing its vitality. As the community training requires the trainees to set apart themselves from the world and to live properly according to the call of God for us to be a part of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27), holding a vision from God, giving themselves to God, within this generation, the community training of the department of Doxology could be a model for developing a missionary attitude of a missionary community following the supreme order of Christ.
Korean Volunteer Fire Departments are the representative disaster-related civilian organizations which are based on "Firefighting Framework Act Article 37"and ordinance for complementing the lack of fire-fighting personnel and volunteer and they play a part as community safety keepers. They are operated by the National funding, but cannot be defined as the organization in governmental sources completely or pure volunteer organization in terms of its founding purpose and activities. In these special characteristics, some Volunteer Fire Departments play an important role in Civilian Volunteer Disaster Prevention by being managed effectively, but the others do not. There can be many cause-analyses about this difference. They aren't profit-making organizations and are groups which have no compulsion. So it is important that who the leader is, and what type of leadership he has. By solving this bias by considering these characteristics, in this study we make them perform the center role of community safety network through analyzing the existing status and problems of volunteer fire department education and customized training program reengineering to meet class-specific and regional level.
We evaluated whether group locomotor imagery training-combined knowledge of performance (KP) lead to improvements in gait function in community dwelling individuals with chronic stroke. Ten adults who had suffered a hemiparetic stroke at least 6 months earlier participated in group locomotor imagery training-combined KP for 5 weeks, twice per week, with 2 h intensive training. Dynamic gait index scores increased significantly after the group locomotor imagery training-combined KP. However, times for the timed up-and-go test did not improve significantly after the training. Group locomotor imagery training-combined KP may be a useful option for the relearning of gait performance for community dwelling individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke.
Web 2.0 communities are providing new opportunities for teachers’ professional development by supporting more flexible sharing, communicating, and collaborating among teachers at a distance. Meanwhile, literature concerning teachers’ professional development increasingly places value on communities of practice and web-based learning communities. This paper presents a case study on the design of teacher training supported by a Web 2.0 community. The training program discussed in the paper is characterized by employing peer-coaching to facilitate teachers’ learning in a Web 2.0 community, and is a part of a project funded by the Ford Foundation. The paper gives a brief introduction to the training program, and reports some important findings and reflections on design and practice for in-service teacher training. It includes the theoretical framework design, a training model as well as activity design, and the implementation and evaluation of the training program and useful experiences. Initially, taking account school teachers’ needs at the K12 level for curriculum reform and quality education, theory, knowledge and practice competences for learner-centered instruction were examined by using peer-coaching methods supported by online communities. The suggested training program was delivered in two Chinese districts in August 2009: Tianhe district of Guangzhou, and Wuhou district of Chengdu. More than 120 participants, including subject teachers, school principals and local teaching researchers, took part in the f2f training, online activities and the further practice activities. Even still on-going, the comprehensive investigation and evaluation of the training program explains that the initial results and observations collected during the process of training are very positive. With cause for optimism as to the prospect of achieving the training program’s goals, the study has demonstrated that a task-driven approach and peer-coaching supported by a web 2.0 community are effective methods for in-service teacher training, and that peer-coaching can be greatly extended by out-of-school activities.
The limited walking ability after a stroke restricts a patient's independent mobility at home and in the community. It also brings about significant social handicaps. Therefore, it is necessary to improve walking ability in community-dwelling persons with stroke. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of gait training and muscle strengthening exercise of lower extremities in persons with chronic stroke. Nineteen community-dwelling individuals with stroke participated in this program. The exercise program lasted for seven weeks, with a 1-hour program twice per week, and it consisted of balance training, gait training, and strengthening of lower extremities. The outcome of the program was assessed by the gait speed, Wisconsin Gait Scale (WGS), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and Stroke Impact Scale (SIS). Significant effects were found for the WGS, BBS, and mobility and hand function domain of the SIS (p<.05). It was found that short-term gait training exercise could improve quality of gait, balance, and mobility. Therefore, a more effective exercise program is required for community-based persons with stroke.
