        This study was carried out to investigate breakfast behaviors of female college students. 500 questionnaires were distributed and 417 were used for statistical analysis(SAS program). This survey was conducted from June, 2000 to October, 2000. 44.7% of the respondents considered lunch to be the most important meal. 51.6% students thought that people must eat breakfast. 41.6% of the students always eat breakfast but 22.1% do not eat breakfast. Conventional type of breakfast was found to be the most popular (67.6%). But ₩400,000 monthly allowance group(P<0.05) and self prepared breakfast group preferred Western style breakfast. The main reason for eating breakfast was for health(34.6%). The group of students with less monthly allowance were more likely to skip breakfast due to lack of time (p<0.01). Physical discomforts after skipping breakfast were: lack of strength(42.5%), stomach ache(36.3%), giddiness(9.1%), and recovered temper(12.1%). In conclusion, it is needed that a convenient and nutritional education should be developed for college students' health.

        In this paper, Korean's dining-out behaviors were compared and investigated according to gender and age. The change and the problem of dietary pattern in Korea were understood and we intend to provide the basic information for guidelines of Korean's dietary habits. The subjects are composed of 46.5% male and 53.5% female. According to age, groups aged 10~19 are 26.3%, 20's are 24.6%, 30's are 16.8%, 40's are 18.7%, and 50 and over age group is 13.6%. All of the age groups ate out for celebration of a special day or for social purposes. When dining-out, the most important criteria for selecting a restaurant was the taste of food. All age groups liked Korean-style restaurants the most. All age group eat a house meal at breakfast. At lunch, age groups 40 and below go to a restaurant in school or company and 50 and over age group eats house meal. In general, all age groups ate a house meal at dinner. At breakfast, all the age groups do not eat out. For lunch, they eat out four or five times a week. For dinner, the most of age groups except the 20's eat out two or three times a month and for the 20's age group, two or three times a week. The reason for selecting a Korean-style restaurant is that the food is 'well matched with one's appetite'. According to the above results, the dietary habits of 30 and over age groups are relatively good. On the other hand, in 10's and 20's age groups, they have an irregular meal and the ratio of skipping a meal is high. And they frequently use fast-food restaurants. In the future, the unbalance of nutrition in these age groups is expected. Therefore, the correct nutritional facts should be educated so that these age groups have a healthy dietary habit.

        The purpose of this research is to study suitability of a sweeper as a new occupation fitting to the character of the people with the mental retardation. Analysis of job which is necessary to perform the sweeper has been conducted. This research also studied the suitability of the occupation to the individuals with different impairments of physical, sensory function, cognitive function and emotional behavior based on the study of 5 individual participants. Conclusion is as follows. 1. The office building maintenance(sweeper) is an occupation which demands muscular strength of gross motor. Visual perception about a space and an object is mainly needed and the most important facts in the cognitive function are an idea of time, sequence, direction, topographic orientation, & memory. 2. Based on analysis of 5 different individuals who have different functional impairments shows that deteriorated muscular strength (compare to non-disabled person) didn’t affect the job. On the contrary, visual perception and emotional behavior problems are two biggest challenges to the occupation. 3. Not requiring dexterity of hands movement as in the manufacturing industry and broad acting radius, those two facts made a sweeper a suitable occupation for the people with mental retardation who lack dexterity in acting and concentration. Based on the research, a sweeper is a suitable occupation fitting to the character of the people with mental retarcation and it is therefore need to generalize the result of the research by conducting a follow-up research with more participants.

        본 연구는 번식기와 비번식기에 있어서 까치의 행동변화를 파악하기 위해 강원도 춘천시 동면 감정리에 위치한 강원도 산림개발연구원 시험림 및 부근지역에서 2000년 3월부터 2001년 2월까지의 기간동안 실시되었다. 조사지 내 전체 면척은 5.6 km2였으며, 전체 지역에서 까치의 둥지는 모두 49개가 발견되었다. 이중 2000년 봄철의 번식기동안에는 24개의 둥지에서 까치가 번식을 한 것으로 나타났다. 까치의 번식밀도는 4.3쌍/ km2였으며, 둥지의 평균거리는 평균 357.5m 인 것으로 나타났다. 까치에 부착한 전파발신기에서 발신되는 전파를 추적하여 번식기와 비번식기에 둥지로부터 이동한 거리는 큰 차이를 보였다.(t-test, t= 2.98, P〈0.01). 번식기에는 평균 133.5m의 거리를 둥지로부터 이동하였으며, 최대 184m 이동한 것으로 나타났다. 그 결과 세력권의 크기는 약 5.6ha인 것으로 추정되었다. 또한 비번식이에 있어서는 둥지로부터의 이동거리 평균 384.2m 였으며, 최대 457m 까지 이동하였다. 6월에서 8월 까지는 보통 2~3개체 정도가 무리를 형성하였고, 12월에 가장 많은 12개체 정도가 하나의 무리를 이루었다. 번식기에 암컷과 수컷을 행동은 매우 다른 것으로 나타났으나(t=2.89, P〈0.05)비번식기에는 큰 차이가 없었다(t=1.03, P〉0.05).

        날개가 없는 몇몇 절지동물들은 공중이동을 하기 위한 수단으로써 이륙행동 보이는 종들이 있다. 본고는 포식성 이리응애류중에서 이륙행동을 보이는 종(Neoseiulus fallacis (Carman)) 과 이륙행동은 보이지 않으나, 공중이동률이 높은 종(Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot),이륙행동이 없고 공중이동률이 중간치인 종(N. ca1ifornicus(McGregor))간에 공기역학적 측면에서 어떠한 메커니즘이 작용하는 지에 관한 연구이다. 위 종들의 도보이동 자세와 공주 이동 이륙행동 자세의 몸체의 수직적 위치, 몸체의 크기, 다리의 길이 등의 자료를 가지고 공기역학적 파라미터를 계산한 결과, P. persimilis는 도보이동 자세에서도 N. fallacis가 이륙행동을 보여야만 얻을 수 있는 양의 항력을 얻을 수 있음이 밝혀졌다. 이러한 관점에서 포식성 이리응애류의 이륙행동 진화에 대한 고찰하였다.

        1997년 10월 2일부터 10일 사이에 동해에서 계량어군탐지기를 이용하여 수집한 어탐기록과 CTD를 이용한 해양관측 결과 및 중층트롤에 의한 어획물의 생물학적 조성 등을 비교, 분석하여 어족생물의 일주기적인 유영행동특성을 검토, 고찰한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 1997년 10월 3일에 북위 36˚04', 동경 130˚53'의 조사 해역의 경우, 수온약층은 수심 60~110m의 수층에 형성되었고, 혼합층과 수심 250m이 저층 수괴 사이의 온도차와 염분 차는 각각21˚, 0.6%이었다. 2. 조사대상해역에 있어서 1997년 10월 2일~3일에 대한 일주기적 연직회유행동을 고찰할 때, 주간에 수온약층 아래쪽 수심 250 m 전후에 분포하는 생물군의 평균상승속도는 시간대에 따라 약간의 차이는 있으나 0.51m/min이었고, 일출을 전후하여 100~ 125 m 수층에서 하향 이동하는 생물군의 평균하강 속도는 0.41 m/min이었다. 3. 조사대상해역에 있어서 어군의 체적산란강도는 표층, 중층, 저층의 순으로 높았고, 개체 생물의 반사강도는 저층, 중층, 표층의 순으로 높게 나타났다. 4. 중층트롤에 의한 시험조업의 결과, 초음파 산란층에 분포하는 어획 생물 중에서 살오징어가 점유하는 비율이 가장 높아 95.7%이었고, 그 평균 외투장과 평균체중은 각각 25.3 cm, 390.0g이었으며, 위 내용물은 살오징어, 갑각류, 치어류 등이었다.

        1999년 5월 29일부터 6월 30일까지의 남해안에서의 수심에 따른 수중광의 변화와 조업시간의 경과에 따른 예망 상대유속을 측정하고, 권현망어구에 대한 체장 4~7cm정도 되는 멸치들의 도피 반응행동을 관찰하고 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 남해안 통영, 거제 부근 멸치어장에서 수심에 대한 수중광의 변화를 자연대수 곡선식으로 나타내면 광흡수 계수 c는 대표적인 관측점에서 주로 0.24~1.03 범위로 나타나서, 멸치의 어구에 대한 시인도가 어장에 따라 클 것으로 보인다. 2) 권현망어구의 원형그물과 1/2축소그물의 자루그물 입구부분의 상대유속을 기준으로 할때, 수비와 자루의 연결부분의 유속비는 평균 1.46, 자루부분의 유속비는 평균 0.67로 나타나서, 어구의 부위에 따른 상대유속변화가 멸치의 유영운동과 도피운동에 영향을 줄 것으로 보인다. 축소된 권형망어구에 있어서의 멸치의 대망행동을 관찰한 결과 수비와 자루연결부분에서 빠져나가는 1분당 멸치도피수는 평균 455미 정도였으며, 자루의 앞에서 예인방향으로 유영하는 깔대기를 빠져나가는 1분당 멸치도피 수는 평균 308미 정도로 나타나서, 어구 전체적으로는 상당수의 멸치들이 능동적인 도피행동을 나타내는 것으로 추측된다.

        This study was undertaken to assess grade and gender differences in dietary behavior, food preference and perception about body image of students in 4, 5 and 6th grades in elementary school in Kwangju. Anthropometric data showed that mean height and weight were 137.98±6.79cm 32.69±6.09kg, in the 4th grade, 144.11±6.91cm, 36.88±7.60kg in the 5th grade and 151.52±7.47cm, 42.68±8.06kg in the 6th grade. Height and weight of male and female students of each grade were very similar to those of the Korean standard Growth data. Females in the 5th and 6th grades were taller than those in male students, which suggested the height growth spurt in females. Furthermore, both genders showed marked variability even in the same group. All the three different obesity indices(BMI, Rohrer and % of ideal body weight) showed higher value in males than in females consistently. Male respondents desired taller and heavier body shape while females perceived they were heavy and desired only taller and thinner body image. There were significant differences in satisfaction with height, weight and body image by grade(p〈0.05). 36.7% of subjects responded that they did not eat despite hunger. In higher grade they felt guilty after eating sweet things. Strikingly, it was noted a small number of students tried to take a diet pills or vomited on purpose. Data on food preference showed that female did not like sweet food and pork. While male students preferred red meat and chicken. Thus result indicated that there was a great difference in food preference by gender.

        In order to investigate the eating out behavior of university students, this survey was conducted using the questionaires for 710 students(369 male, 341 female) from 11 universities in Seoul. It was revealed that 39.4% of the subjects spent 60,000~100,000 won for monthly eating out cost and 57.8% of them ate out more than once a day. Most of them expended less than 3,500 won for lunch, while 36.5% of them spent 4,000 ~5,000 won for dinner. Dinner was regarded more important than lunch. Korean foods were the most preferred menu for eating out with friends and fast foods were the second. But Boonsik(snack bar foods), Chinese foods and Japanease foods were rarely selected. Frequency of selecting fast foods was 8 times greater than that of Boonsik. This indicates that the preference of western flavor and the pursuit of convenience is getting more obvious. While dating, western foods were preferred, followed by Korean foods, fast foods. The 80 kinds of foods were reported as favored eating out foods. Although 50 among 80 were Korean foods, the rest of them were Koreanized foreign foods most of those were western style. This may suggest that when the students become adults, they will be much fond of western dish for their dinning out. This tendency of preferring western flavor were much apparent in foods for dinner compared with lunch. In both sexes, the standard of food choice was in the order of taste, price, mood, hygiene, service and brand name. But male students were more conscious of price and service while female students were more concerned about taste and hygiene. Most unsatisfying feature in restaurant was unstable atmosphere for both sexes. Taste was the most important sensory factor in selecting the foods, followed by appearance, smell and texture. Major source of restaurant information was recommendation by friends or relatives. But the use of internet or magazine was negligible. Female students had more positive attitude, compared with male students, in using restaurant information and pursuing eating out for gourmet. The dining out menu of which price ranges about 3,000~5,000 won could be preferable foods for most people. Therefore, instead of blaming them for eating too much fast foods, new menus which fit the food preference and affordability of the students should be developed.

        Judging from the studies carried out by Dr. Jo, Yong Jin on the Koreans' faces, Koreans divided into two constitutions according to their facial features and heritages. The one population is the Northern lineage whose ancestor migrated from Siberia in ice age. In order to survive in cold climate, they have developed a high level of metabolic heat production. Cold adaptation for preventing heat loss results in a reduction in the facial surface area with small eyes, nose and lips. The other population is the Southern lineage who is the descent of native in Korean peninsular. They have big eyes with double edged eyelids, broad nose and thick lips. It is generally believed that both genetic and environmetal factors influence eating behaviors. Although we can't recognized their heritage that may contribute to the metabolism and eating behavior, we commonly recognize their physiological heritage acceding to their facial features. In order to investigate the relationship among the size and shape of facial feature, the eating behavior, anthropometric measurement in female college students, the eating behaviors was measured during an instant-noodle lunch eaten in a laboratory setting at the ambient temperature of 23℃. The anterior surface area of left eye and length of right eye were positively correlated with the difference between the peak postprandial and the meal-start core temperature. The surface area of lower lip also negatively correlated with the meal-start core temperature and meal duration. In addition, the total lips' area was positively correlated with the difference between the peak postprandial and the meal-start core temperature and negatively correlated with the meal duration. However anthropometric measurements were not related with the size of facial features.

        해상의 축양장에서 초음파 핑거를 부착한 참돔의 유영행동을 원격계측 시스템으로 추적한 현장실험의 관측결과로부터 수치 모델의 파라메터를 최소자승법으로 추정한 결과와 정규난수를 이용한 시뮬레이션에 의해 각 개체의 추정위치의 시계열 데이터를 구하여 유영궤적, 유영속도, 유영깊이, 축양교의 벽과 개체 사이의 근접거리, 개체 상호간의 최근접거리 등의 유영특성을 나타내는 지표에 대해 현장보험에 의한 결과와 시뮬레이션에 의한 결과를 비교한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 초음파 핑거를 부착한 참돔을 방류하여 120분 동안의 유영행동을 추적한 현장보험에 의한 유류궤적은 고류 후 30분이 경과한 때에는 축양권의 중심 부근으로 이동하고, 주로 축양노의 좌하 모퉁이와 우상 모퉁이의 대각선 방향으로 분포하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 시뮬레이션에 의한 유영궤적도 이와 유사한 경향을 나타내었다. 2. 현장보험의 결과로부터 계산된 어군의 평균 유영속도는 39.2 cm/sec (1.4BL cm/sec)였으며, 시뮬레이션에 의한 평균 유영속도는 44.4 cm/sec (1.6BL cm/sec)로서 보험에 의 한 결과와 큰 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 3. 현장보험에서 계측된 어군의 평균 유영 깊이는 238 cm였으며, 시뮬레이션에 의한 결과는 248 cm로서 큰 차이가 없었다. 4. 현장보험에서 구한 축양노의 벽과 개체 사이의 평균 근접거리는 132 cm였으며, 시뮬레이션에 의한 결과는 129cm로서 비슷한 것으로 나타났다. 5. 현장보험에 의한 개체 상호간의 평균 최근접 거리는 83 cm였으나, 시뮬레이션에 의한 결과는 61cm로서 다소 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

        This study was to investigate the changes in dietary practices, reasons for making dietary changes, current food consumption patterns, and eating habits. Data were collected from 515 parents whose children were attending an elementary school and a middle school in Kimcheon. Among the twenty food groups studied, subjects reported eating more fruit, vegetables, lower-fat meats, high-fat meats, reduced/skim milk, and eggs and less sugar, fats, rice, salt, potato/sweet potato, and chicken. The changes in dietary practices except high-fat meats and salt were significantly different between sex, age, education level, income level, or BMI groups. The primary reason for making dietary changes was 'concerned about family's health'. The average rate of never eating breakfast or less than 2 times per week was found to be 23.2% with a greater rate in younger age group. The rate of breakfast skipping was found to vary between different age and education groups. The regularity of mealtime and overeating practices were significantly different between age groups. Eating out practices were found to vary between different age, education, and income groups. People at younger age group in Kimcheon should be targeted for nutrition education about eating habits. These findings are applicable at the planning and implementation stages of various nutritional improvement projects.
