        We present Spitzer IRS spectroscopy of CO2 ice toward 19 young stellar objects (YSOs) with luminosity lower than 1L⊙ . Pure CO2 ice forms only at elevated temperatures, T > 20 K, and thus at higher luminosities. Current internal luminosities of YSOs with L < 1L⊙ do not provide such conditions out to radii of typical envelopes. Significant amounts of pure CO2 ice would signify a higher past luminosity. We analyze 15.2 μm CO2 ice bending mode absorption lines in comparison to the laboratory data. We decompose pure CO2 ice from 12 out of 19 young low luminosity sources. The presence of the pure CO2 ice component indicates high dust temperature and hence high luminosity in the past. The sum of all the ice components (total CO2 ice amount) can be explained by a long period of low luminosity stage between episodic accretion bursts as predicted in an episodic accretion scenario. Chemical modeling shows that the episodic accretion scenario explains the observed total CO2 ice amount best.

        A liquid chromatographic-tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) multi-residue method for simultaneous quantification and identification of 37 anthelmintic veterinary drug residues (including benzimidazoles, macrocyclic lactones, and flukicides, levamisole, pyrantel and niclosamide) in milk has been developed and validated. For sample preparation, we used a simple modification of the QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe) method, which was initially developed for analysis of pesticide residues. Anthelmintic residues were extracted into acetonitrile:methanol (9:1, v/v) using sodium chloride to induce liquid-liquid partitioning followed by dispersive solid phase extraction for cleanup. The extract was concentrated into dimethyl sulphoxide, which was used as a keeper to ensure that analytes remain in solution. Using rapid polarity switching in electrospray ionization, a single injection was capable of detecting both positively and negatively charged ions within a 15 min run time. The Limit of detection (LOD) and the Limit of quantification (LOQ) method ranged from 0.1 ng/g to 4.4 ng/g and from 0.3 ng/g to 14.6 ng/g, respectively. Validation of the developed method was based on international guidelines. Average recoveries ranged from 70% to 120%, except for 54.7% at 0.5× MRL (rafoxanide) and 69.0% at 0.5× MRL (closantel). The coefficient of variation for the described method was less than 15% over the range of concentrations studied. The result of the method was verified successfully by participation in a proficiency study for analysis of anthelmintic drugs.

        A confirmatory method based on liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry was developed for determination of 12 aminoglycosides in milk. Extraction of aminoglycosides from milk was performed using by liquid extraction using a 10 mM phosphate buffer containing 2% (w/v) trichloroacetic acid, followed by performance of a solid-phase clean-up procedure on a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance solid-phase extraction (HLB SPE). Ion-pair chromatography, using a mixture of 20 mM heptafluorobutyric acid (HFBA) in water and acetonitrile as the mobile phase, was used for retention of aminoglycosides on a reversed-phase C18 column. Mass spectral acquisition was performed in the multiple reaction monitoring mode, selecting two precursor ion>product ion transitions for each target compound. Satisfied recoveries (70.1~109.6%) of all aminoglycosides were demonstrated in spiked milk at three levels from 50 ng/g to 200 ng/g. The coefficients of variation ranged from 3.2% to 14.0%. The limits of quantitation (LOQs) for aminoglycosides ranged from 2.5 ng/g to 40.3 ng/g.

        In this paper, a mass damper was proposed and the plan on its practical application for wind-induced vibration control of a super-tall building was introduced. The damper was developed to generate forces which were calculated by both linear and nonlinear control algorithms. A controller in which the control algorithms were embedded was developed and it was verified through experiments that the damper with the controller could show dynamic behavior as a designer had intended. A preliminary design of a super-tall building with the damper was conducted. As a nonlinear algorithm, decentralized control algorithm which only requires to measure damper-installed floor response in order to calculate the control force was proposed. Simulation results indicated that the proposed damper could provide better or at least equivalent control performance than the usual active/hybrid type damper controlled just by existing linear control algorithms.

        구조물의 내진설계 또는 내진성능평가를 위해서는 구조물의 축소모형을 이용한 실험적 분석이나 유한요소모델을 기반으로 한 수치적 방법이 고려된다. 수치적 방법을 위해서는 정교한 모델링이 요구될 경우 3차원 유한요소해석을 실시하나 민감도 분석이나지진 취약도 분석과 같은 방대한 지진데이터를 이용한 평가에서는 집중질량모델이 선호된다. 하지만 기존의 집중질량모델은 일반적으로구조물의 기하학적 형상을 고려하여 집중질량을 산출하는 방식인데, 이 경우 제공되는 고유치는 실구조물의 고유치와 일치하지 않는다.본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 개선하고 실구조물과 유사한 동적 거동을 발현하는 새로운 형식의 주파수 순응형 집중질량모델을 제안하였다. 제안된 모델은 실구조물의 고유치와 고유 벡터, 모드 형상 등을 고려하여 생성하며, 모델의 성능을 검증하기 위해 비균일 단면을갖는 기둥에 대해 동적해석을 수행하였다. 또한 감쇠비에 따른 동적성능을 분석하기 위해 1%에서 5%까지의 Rayleigh Damping 적용하여 그 결과를 유한요소모델 결과와 비교하였다.

        동아시아에서 대기 에어로졸의 광역적 분포를 분석하기 위해 MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) 센서에서 산출된 AOD (Aerosol Optical Depth)와 AE (Angstroom Exponent)를 이용하였다. 2009년 동아시아 지역에서 AOD는 3월(0.44±0.25)에 높았고, 9월(0.24±0.21)에 낮았다. 봄에는 중국 북부와 몽골의 사막, 건조지역에서 발생한 모래폭풍이 광역적으로 이동하여 동아시아의 AOD에 기여하고 있다. 그러나 동아시아의 풍하측에 위치한 한반도 중부의 안면도, 청원, 울릉도에서 PM10 (d≤10μm) 질량 농도는 2월에 최고를 보인 반면, AOD는 5월에 가장 높았다. 장마 전 상대습도의 증가에 따른 흡습성 에어로졸의 성장이 5월의 높은 AOD에 기여하고 있다. 여름(8월)에는 북태평양으로부터 해양성 기류와 잦은 강수에 의한 습윤 침전으로 AOD는 낮지만 중국 동부의 산업지역에서 광역적으로 발생한 미세 에어로졸로 인해 AE (1.30±0.37)가 가장 높은 값을 보였다. 안면도, 청원, 울릉도에서 MODIS AOD와 지상 PM10 질량 농도의 상관계수는 0.4-0.6이었다. 2009년 한반도 중부에서 관측한 황사 사례는 4회(6일)였고, 인위적 대기오염 이동 사례는 6회(12일)였다. 황사 사례와 인위적 대기오염의 이동 사례에서 안면도와 청원의 PM10 농도가 모두 증가하였다. 황사와 인위적 대기오염 이동으로 PM10이 증가하는 영역에서 AOD가 높게 나타나고 있다.

        Although there are a number of reports regarding the toxicity evaluation of inorganic nanoparticles, knowledge on biodegradable nanomaterials, which have always been considered safe, is still limited. For example, the toxicity of chitosan nanoparticles, one of the most widely used drug/gene delivery vehicles, is largely unknown. In this report, we examined the cytotoxic effects of chitosan nanoparticles on mouse embryos at the blastocyst stage and in vivo implantation by embryo transfer. Blastocysts treated with 250 nm chitosan nanoparticles exhibited significantly increased apoptosis and a corresponding decrease in total cell number, which was concentration‐dependent. Moreover, the TUNEL positive signal in the embryos exposed to chitosan nanoparticles showed an increased of the ICM and the implantation success rate was lower than that of their control counterparts. Our results collectively indicate that in vitro exposure to chitosan nanoparticles induces apoptosis and retards implantation development after transfer to host mice. The results collectively show that chitosan nanoparticles have the potential to induce embryo cytotoxicity. Further studies are required to establish effective protection strategies against the cytotoxic effects of these nanoparticles.

        A polydnavirus, Cotesia plutellae bracovirus (CpBV), is symbiotic to an endoparasitoid wasp, C.plutellae, which specifically parasitizes young larvae of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella. A recent study on CpBV replication by analysis of ovary transcriptome of C.Plutellae suggests several candidate coat protein genes. This study was conducted to confirm the coat protein genes by analyzing coat proteins of CpBV viral particles by a tandem mass MALDI-TOF. Immunoprecipitation of ovary protein extract with a polyclonal CpBV antibody captured three proteins named as p35, p60, and p70. More number of coat proteins were resolved in a protein extract directly from viral particles. All candidate coat proteins are analyzed in amino acid sequences by MALDI-TOF.         Mass production of graphene-based materials, which have high specific surface area, is of importance for industrial applications. Herein, we report on a facile approach to produce thermally modified graphene oxide (TMG) in large quantities. We performed this experiment with a hot plate under environments that have relatively low temperature and no using inert gas. TMG materials showed a high specific surface area (430 m2g-1). Successful reduction was confirmed by elemental analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, thermogravimetic analysis, and X-ray diffraction. The resulting materials might be useful for various applications such as in rechargeable batteries, as hydrogen storage materials, as nano-fillers in composites, in ultracapacitors, and in chemical/bio sensors.

        A rapid, simple and reliable LC-MS/MS method, which can be used on a routine basis, was developed for the simultaneous detection of 8 penicillin antibiotics (amoxicillin, ampicillin, penicillin-G, penicillin-V, oxacillin, cloxacillin, nafcillin and dicloxacillin) in swine muscle and kidney. The antibiotics were extracted from samples with water and methanol. The extract was centrifuged, filtered and analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled with a tandem mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS), using a C18 reversed phase column with water/acetonitrile gradient containing 0.05 % formic acid. Mass spectral acquisition was achieved in an electrospray positive ion mode by applying multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) of 2 fragment ion transitions to provide a high degree of sensitivity and specificity. The ion rations were consistent and could be used for confirmation of identity of the penicillin antibiotics. Recoveries of eight penicillins at three fortification levels (10, 20 and 40㎍/㎏) ranged from 79.8 to 102.4% and 72.8 to 103.4% in swine muscle and kidney, respectively. The coefficient of variation was than 9% in all samples. The estimated limits of quantification (LOQs) ranged from 1.0 to 3.2㎍/㎏ in swine muscle and kidney, respectively. The LOQs of this method are below the MRLs of penicillin antibiotics in animal tissues established in Korea and other countries.
