        현대사회는 반려동물을 기르는 가정이 증가하고 있다. 인간을 비롯한 반려동물도 일상 생활 속에서 피부질환의 위험에 놓여있고, 이에 따라 피부에 자극을 주지 않는 천연 세정 제품에도 큰 관심이 집중되고 있다. 천연제품이 대중화되어가고 있지만, 편리성과 즉효성을 장점으로 내세우는 일반 세제와 비누보다 천연제품의 이점을 보여주는 정확한 사례가 적다. 이를 알아보기 위해 기존에 사용되었던 세정제 제품을 직접 제작한 천연비누로 교체하였을 때의 피부변화를 실험하였다. 더 정확한 결과 값 측정을 위해 일제히 통제된 환 경에서 지정된 15마리의 실험견들을 선별하고, 유 수분 측정기와 관찰현미경을 이용해 연구를 진행하였고, 천연비누의 교체로 유분, 수분 함량은 증가하였고, 개선된 피부 상태를 확인했다.

        PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of combined organic and inorganic hybrid mortar used as repair materials (UM mortar) for concrete road facilities by comparison with cement repair materials (RM mortar). METHODS: In order to produce UM mortar, four different levels of inorganic materials were adopted and the ratio of main resin to hardener was fixed at 1:2. For comparison, RM mortar made with cement repair materials was also produced. Fluidity, strength characteristics, length change, and freezing-thawing resistance of the mortars were measured at the predetermined periods. In addition, the microstructures of the mortars was performed on the 28-day mortar samples to examine the properties of the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). RESULTS : It was observed that the mechanical properties, except for compressive strength, and freezing-thawing resistance of UM mortars were much better than those of RM mortar. Furthermore, showing a densified ITZ properties on the UM mortars from the microstructural observation, the usage of UM mortars exhibited a beneficial effect on the enhancement of mortar properties. CONCLUSIONS: It is concluded that the application of combined organic and inorganic hybrid mortars is a possible option for the repair of deteriorated concrete road facilities.

        Three new asymmetric light emitting organic compounds were synthesized with diphenylamine or triphenylamine side groups; 10-(3,5-diphenylphenyl)-N,N-diphenylanthracen-9-amine (MADa), 4-(10-(3,5-diphenylphenyl)anthracen-9-yl)-N,N-diphenylaniline (MATa), and 4-(10-(30,50-diphenylbiphenyl-4-yl) anthracen-9-yl)-N,N-diphenylaniline (TATa). MATa and TATa had a PLmax at 463 nm in the blue region, and MADa had a PLmax at 498 nm. The EL efficiency and color coordinate values (respectively) were 10.3 cd/A and (0.199, 0.152; bluish-green) for the MADa device, 4.67 cd/A and (0.151, 0.177) for the MATa device, and 6.07 cd/A and (0.149, 0.177) for the TATa device. The TATa device had a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 6.19%, and its luminance and power efficiencies and life-time were more than twice those of the MADN device.

        We synthesized new hole-transporting material, N,N'-diethyl-3,3'-bicarbazyl (E-Cvz-2), 9,9'-diethyl-6-(9-ethyl-carbazol-3-yl)-3,3'-bicarbazole (E-Cvz-3), 6-(9,9'-diethyl-3,3'-bicarbazol-6-yl)-9,9'-diethyl-3,3'-bicarbazole (E-Cvz-4A) and 9-ethyl-6-(9-ethyl-3,9'-bicarbazol-6-yl)-3,9'-bicarbazole (E-Cvz-4B). EL luminance efficiencies of E-Cvz-2, E-Cvz-3, E-Cvz-4A and E-Cvz-4B devices were found to be 4.77, 5.68, 4.27 and 4.64 cd/A, respectively, when synthesized materials are using as a HTL material. The luminance efficiency of E-Cvz-3 is 25% higher than that of NPB, a commercialized HTL material used as a reference in this study.

        Water electrolysis is a representative electrochemical process to generate hydrogen gas together with oxygen gas by applying electric power. Perfluorinated sulfonic acid (PFSA) ionomers have been widely used as electrode binder materials, in addition to polymer electrolyte membrane materials for water electrolysis to generate hydrogen and oxygen gases with a high purity simultaneously. PFSA binder materials act as physical supports for inorganic catalyst materials in both electrodes. The binder materials play role in transporting protons for hydrogen gas and oxygen gas evolution reaction in the cathode and the anode, respectively. In this study, PFSA ionomers with different chemical architectures and equivalent weights were used as binder materials for water electrolysis. The structure property performance relationship was disclosed.

        CO2 separation technology for carbon capture, which is one of the hot issues to reduce greenhouse gases from industrial flue gas, has been intensively investigated so far. Despite of several benefits, the membrane technology has some obstacles like large-scale module fabrication, membrane durability, need of pre-treatment or high pressure drive for its industrial application. Also, the power plant flue gas with normally 10~20% of CO2 content should be concentrated upto 99% for being compressed and liquefied to transportable CO2 by pipeline, indicating the need of high selective membrane process as well as high recovery. In this work, the possibility of membrane process for post-combustion treatment in terms of recent technology will be announced. The practically applicable process for CO2 capture also be suggested briefly.

        Visible and IR windows require a combination of high optical transparency and superior thermal and mechanical properties. Materials, fabrication and characterization of transparent ceramics for visible/IR windows are discussed in this review. The transparent polycrystalline Y2O3, Y2O3-MgO nanocomposites and MgAl2O4 spinel ceramics are fabricated by advanced ceramic processing and the use of special sintering technologies. Ceramic processing conditions for achieveing fully densified transparent ceramics are strongly dependent on the initial powder characteristics. In addition, appropriate use of sintering technologies, including vacuum sintering, hot-pressing and spark plasama sintering methods, results in outstanding thermal and mechanical properties as well as high optical transparency of the final products. Specifically, the elimination of light scattering factors, including residual pores, second phases and grain boundaries, is a key technique for improving the characteristics of the transparent ceramics. This paper discusses the current research issues related to synthesis methods and sintering processes for yttria-based transparent ceramics and MgAl2O4 spinel.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of macaroons prepared using natural color materials (Opuntia ficus-indica var. saboten (Re-N), mulberry leaf (Gr-N), pumpkin (Ye-N), and cocoa powder (Br-N)) and corresponding artificial food colorants (red (Re-A), yellow (Ye-A), green (Gr-A) and brown (Br-A)). The moisture content of macaroons prepared using natural color material was higher compared to the macaroons prepared using artificial food colorant. DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity was similar in both types of macaroons. Lightness and redness of Re-N, Gr-N, Ye-N, and Br-N macaroons were lower than Re-A, Gr-A, Ye-A and Br-A macaroons. Yellowness of Re-N was higher because of the browning reaction. The texture profile analysis revealed lower hardness when natural color powder was employed. In the sensory evaluation, overall acceptability was not significantly different between natural colored and artificial colored macaroons. As a result, macaroons with the natural color material were softer and showed higher antioxidative activity, however, organoleptic properties were not much different when compared with macaroons with artificial colors. Apparently, it is stated that more studies on the development of macaroons with more enhanced physical functionality and good taste using natural materials should be performed.

        This study investigates the microstructure and wear properties of cermet (ceramic + metal) coating materials manufactured using high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) process. Three types of HVOF coating layers are formed by depositing WC-12Co, WC-20Cr-7Ni, and Cr3C2-20NiCr (wt.%) powders on S45C steel substrate. The porosities of the coating layers are 1 ± 0.5% for all three specimens. Microstructural analysis confirms the formation of second carbide phases of W2C, Co6W6C, and Cr7C3 owing to decarburizing of WC phases on WC-based coating layers. In the case of WC-12Co coating, which has a high ratio of W2C phase with high brittleness, the interface property between the carbide and the metal binder slightly decreases. In the Cr3C2-20CrNi coating layer, decarburizing almost does not occur, but fine cavities exist between the splats. The wear loss occurs in the descending order of Cr3C2-20NiCr, WC-12Co, and WC-20Cr-7Ni, where WC-20Cr-7Ni achieves the highest wear resistance property. It can be inferred that the ratio of the carbide and the binding properties between carbide–binder and binder–binder in a cermet coating material manufactured with HVOF as the primary factors determine the wear properties of the cermet coating material.

        전북지역에 발생하는 미국선녀벌레는 2017년 익산시 여산면에 식재된 밤나무에 자연 발생되어 피해가 발생했으며 특히, 유기농 농경지의 밤나무, 블루베리, 배나무 등에 피해를 주고 있다. 유기농 재배지에서 피해를 경감시키기 위해 친환경자재 선발 실험을 실시하였다. 미국선녀벌레의 약충과 성충을 대상으로 친환경자재 500배액을 경엽 살포한 결과, 약충 방제효과는 님오일 82.9%, 계피유 69.5%, 햄프시드 65.3%, 데리스 65.1%, 편백유 56.8%, 녹차씨유 45.1%로 나타났다. 성충 방제효과는 님오일 75.7%, 계피유 68.7%, 햄프시드 67.4%, 데리스 62.1%, 편백유 26.7%, 녹차씨유 44.2%로 조사되었다. 님오일은 미국선녀벌레 약충과 성충에서 방제가가 가장 높았으며 약해도 발생하지 않았다. 유기농 재배지에서 미국선녀벌레를 방제하기 위해서는 님오일을 처리하는 것이 효과적일 것으로 기대된다.

        유기농경지에서 문제가 되는 해충을 방제하기 위하여 농가에서는 식물추출물 등 다양한 자가제조 유기농업자재를 활용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 농가 자가제조 유기농업자재를 이용하여 목화진딧물(Aphis gossypii)과 꽃노랑총채벌레(Franklineilla occidentalis)에 대한 살충효과를 시험하였다. 유기농업자재는 유기재배 농가에서 직접 수집하였으며 식물추출물로는 마늘, 돼지감자, 은행잎 등의 식물추출물과 목초액, 식물오일 등 8종의 자재를 이용하였다. 해충에 대한 살충시험은 25℃, 60% 습도 조건의 곤충사육실에서 이루어졌다. 처리시험을 위해 오이절편을 페트리디쉬에 넣고 시험곤충을 접종하여 농가수집자재를 원액, 30배, 100배, 300배로 희석하여 충체 살포법으로 처리하였다. 처리 후 24시간, 36시간, 72시간 후 사충률을 조사하였다. 진딧물의 경우 100배 희석처리에서 약초액비가 75%, 유화오일이 62.5% 은행잎액비가 42.5%의 살충효과를 각각 보여주었다. 꽃노랑총채벌레에는 협죽도와 마늘이 94.7%와 88.0% 살충효과를 보여주었다.

        Insect antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been characterized more than 150 peptides since identification of cecropin in the hemolymph of pupae from Hyalophora cecropia in 1980. Therefore, it is considered that insects are good species of AMPs selection. Insect AMPs are small (below 10 kDa), cationic, and amphipathic with variable length, sequence, and structure. They perform a critical role on humoral immunity in the insect innate immune system against invading pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses. Most of insect AMPs are induced rapidly in the fat bodies and other specific tissues of insects after septic injury or immune challenge. Then the AMPs subsequently released into the hemolymph to act against microorganisms. These peptides have a broad antimicrobial spectrum against various microorganisms including anticancer activities. Insect AMPs can be divided into four families based on their structures and sequences. That is α-helical peptides, cysteine-rich peptides, proline-rich peptides, and glycine-rich peptides/proteins. For instance, cecropins, insect defensins, proline-rich peptides, and attacins are common insect AMPs, but gloverins and moricins have been identified only in lepidopteran species. In this presentation, we focus on AMPs from insects and discuss current knowledge and recent progresses with potential application of insect AMPs.

        Small hive beetles (SHBs) are parasites of bee colonies and is one of the invasive pest species worldwide. In this study, we aimed to investigate a chemical responsible for the attractiveness of a hive to this pest. Based on the laboratory observation, we found the fermented pollen dough (honey bee food) was highly attractive to adult SHBs. Olfactometer bioassay showed the crude methanol extract of this material is attractive to both sexes (> 60%). However, the methanol extracts of fresh honey and pollen patty which we used as a food of SHB were not attractive to the pest. The crude methanol extract of fermented pollen dough was subjected to partitioning with n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol. The n-hexane and chloroform fractions were attractive > 80% for both sex SHBs. On the other hand, ethyl acetate and n-butanol were repulsive >70% and >80%, respectively. The wandering larvae of the pest showed a reverse response for the solvent fractions observed in adults. HPLC and GC-MS analysis indicated the methanol extract of fermented pollen dough constitute butanoic acid (7.70%), neopentylamine (7.29%), (E)-9-octadecenoic acid ethyl ester (3.89%) and hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester. While these compounds were not found even in a trace level in the methanol extract of honey and pollen patty. Based on this findings these constituents of the fermented pollen dough were formed by the action of SHB and its larvae and we believe these volatile organic compounds are responsible for attractiveness to SHB as pollen dough undergoes attach by SHB and ferment. We are working on investigating attractiveness of each of these chemicals toward the pest. We recommend further work on these chemicals for their application to control this pest.

        식품 중 발견 이물은 광물성, 동물성, 식물성 이물로 대별된다. 식약처 이물 발생 신고 자료를 보면 곤충이물이 거의 모든 식품유형에서 가장 높은 빈도(40% 내외)를 차지한다. 식품 중 곤충 이물은 직접적인 인체 위해보다는 소비자에게 혐오감 유발, 식품업체 비위생적 취급 우려와 같이 간접적으로 식품 안전에 대한 소비자 불안감을 가중시키고 언론과 소비자단체를 통해 지속적인 이슈가 되어 식품 기업의 매출감소, 위생, 안전성 측면의 신뢰도를 감소시키고 민원처리, 이물조사 업무가중 등 행정력낭비를 유발하고 있다. 식품 중 발생하는 곤충이물은 다양한 원인으로 유발되어 확실하게 규명되는 제조 중발생(6.5%), 소비, 유통 단계 유입(39.4%) 이외에 대부분이 판정불가(53.4%)로 처리되고 있다. 따라서 앞으로 식품산업에서 는 생산단계와 유통, 보관 단계에 실용화될 수 있는 효과적인 곤충 이물 저감화기술을 개발/적용하여 이물발생 리스크를 관리하고 국민의 식품안전에 대한 체감도를 높이는 것이 필요하다.

        Cement production processes release various odor elements including acetaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, formaldehyde and toluene etc. A three-dimensional numerical simulation using a commercial code of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to estimate the concentration profiles and dispersion distance around the local residential area. The calcination furnace, one of the main emission sources in the cement manufacturing process, discharged the odorous gases of H₂S, HCHO, CH₃CHO and C6H5CH₃at levels of up to 3.15 ppb, 5.1 ppm, 6.65 ppm and 0.74 ppm of H₂S, HCHO, CH₃CHO and C6H5CH₃respectively. This study found that as for the emission concentration of 1ppm for H₂S and CH₃CHO, the landing distance of the threshold value for each gas was extended in summer seasons at a low velocity. Low temperature of the flue gas at a high velocity also led to long dispersion.

        This study was aimed to improve the productivity and income of mushroom farming by developing a new casing material as a substitute for clay loam casing soil, which is becoming more difficult to acquire. When the new casing materials were used for the stable production of button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus), a 1:1 mixture of clay loam and button mushroom media obtained after harvest supported 13% greater mycelial growth (32.0 kg/3.3 m²). This material was better than clay loam soil in preventing contamination with environmental compounds and pests. The use of an inexpensive 1:1 mixture of peat moss and coco peat resulted superior mycelial growth with 4% better yield (32.9 kg/3.3 m²) compared with conventional clay loam soil. Advantages of these casing materials included ready availability and improved productivity. Mixtures of peat moss + coco peat + zeolite (50%:30%:20%) and coco peat + coal ash (75%:25%) could substitute for conventional casing soil. Additionally, the novel mixtures containing material obtained after cultivation might be used to produce organic fertilizer.

        In the present work, we synthesize nano-sized ZnO, SnO2, and TiO2 powders by hydrothermal reaction using metal chlorides. We also examine the energy-storage characteristics of the resulting materials to evaluate the potential application of these powders to dye-sensitized solar cells. The control of processing parameters such as pressure, temperature, and the concentration of aqueous solution results in the formation of a variety of powder morphologies with different sizes. Nano-rod, nano-flower, and spherical powders are easily formed with the present method. Heat treatment after the hydrothermal reaction usually increases the size of the powder. At temperatures above 1000oC, a complete collapse of the shape occurs. With regard to the capacity of DSSC materials, the hydrothermally synthesized TiO2 results in the highest current density of 9.1 mA/cm² among the examined oxides. This is attributed to the fine particle size and morphology with large specific surface area.
