PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to analyze not only the strength but also the durability and abrasion resistance of concrete pavements as increasing the cases of domestic concrete pavement damage which do not meet the service years. METHODS: The bottom layer of a two-lift concrete pavement was paved with original Portland cement (OPC) with 20~23 cm thickness. On the other hand, the top-layer, which is directly exposed to the environment and vehicles, was paved with high-performance concrete (HPC) with 7~10 cm thickness. For the optimal mixed design of the top-layer material of a two-lift concrete pavement, silica fume and polymer powder were mixed. Furthermore, it analyzes abrasion resistance of concrete as follow‘ ASTM C 779’which is dressing wheel abrasion test method. RESULTS : As a result, abrasion resistance is improved with increasing the silica fume ratio. When the polymer powder is mixed, abrasion resistance of concrete is much improved. However, the effect of mixing ratio is not significant. It is very effective that adding both silica fume and polymer powder occur 20~40% of abrasion comparing with OPC variables. CONCLUSIONS : The concrete strength and durability increased with silica fume and polymer powder. In particular, it is significant increasing strength of polymer powder under the flexural strength. In the abrasion resistance side, it is also significant when the silica fume and polymer powder used together.

PURPOSES : In Korea, concrete pavements with transverse tining, which have excellent skid resistance, have been mainly constructed to secure road bearing capacity and safety. However, transverse tining has higher noise level of approximately 4-5 dB(A) compared with asphalt pavement. As a method to determine low-noise characteristics of concrete pavements, the fine-size exposed aggregate concrete pavement (EACP) has been studied in Korea and abroad. The surface of EACPs consists of exposed coarse aggregates and 2-3 mm removal surface mortar. EACPs have the advantages of maintaining low-noise and adequate skid-resistance levels during the performance period. Although EACPs have been widely studied to reduce noise, quantitative noise analysis with various paving methods has not been performed owing to differences in mixture proportioning, construction conditions, environmental conditions, and measurement methods. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the low-noise characteristics of fine-size EACPs by comparing noise with various paving methods, including concrete and asphalt pavements. METHODS: In this study, noise data were collected to quantitatively analyze the low-noise characteristics of EACPs compared with various paving methods such as transverse tining, longitudinal tining, SMA, and HMA. RESULTS: The evaluation of the low-noise characteristics of EACPs compared with transverse tining showed that the relative noise of 13 mm EACP with transverse tining was reduced by approximately 2% at 60 km/h, 4% at 80 km/h, and 5% at 100 km/h. The relative noise of 10 mm EACP with transverse tining was reduced to 3%, 7%, and 8% at 50 km/h, 80 km/h, and 100 km/h, respectively. In addition, it was confirmed that the noise of 10 mm EACP was similar to that of asphalt pavement. CONCLUSIONS : It was confirmed that EACP using 10 mm coarse aggregates generates lower noise than that using 13 mm coarse aggregates. Therefore, the use of coarse aggregates smaller than 10 mm needs to be considered to improve the low-noise effect of EACP.

PURPOSES: In this paper, the packing degrees of binary granular mixtures under vibration compaction were simulated by using DEM with spherical particles to evaluate the applicability of the DEM for aggregate packing degree estimation. METHODS: The packing degrees of fine particles, coarse particles, and their mixture with different fine particle fractions were evaluated in DEM simulation for given various material property conditions. In order to check the validity of estimated packing degrees of particle mixtures, analytical model such as Furnas model that is capable of considering wall effect and loosening effect. RESULTS : DEM with spherical particles showed good agrement with analytical solution in terms of the packing degrees of binary granular mixtures with various fine particle fractions for most of conditions. Also, it was found that not the vibration amplitude but the ratio of particle diameter with vibration amplitude should be considered to explain the susceptibility of particle packing degree with vibration amplitude for the same acceleration condition and that the reduction in elastic modulus to shorten computational simulation time should be carefully considered when the packing degree is the most important concern. CONCLUSIONS: It was concluded that DEM with spherical particles are good enough to estimate the packing degree of binary granular particles for most of conditions. However, the effect of inter-particle frictions between fine and coarse particles have to be studied further in order to clarify the issue relating poor predictions for high inter-particle friction conditions.

PURPOSES: This paper develops a new stochastic approach to analyze the pavement-vehicle interaction model with a certain roughness and elasticity for the pavement foundation, thereby accommodating the deflection of the pavement, and to identify the road subsidence zone represented with a sudden changes in the elasticity of the foundation. METHODS: In the proposed model, a quarter-car model was combined with a filtered white noise model of road roughness and a two-layer foundation (Euler-Bernoulli beam for the top surface and Winkler foundation to represent the sub-structure soil). An augmented state-space model for the subsystems was formulated. Then, because the input is White noise and the system is represented as a single system, the Lyapunov equation governing the covariance of the system’s response was solved to obtain a structurally weak zone index (WZI). RESULTS: The results showed that the WZI from the pavement-vehicle interaction model is sensitive enough to identify road subsidence. In particular, the WZI rapidly changed with a small change in foundation elasticity, indicating that the model has the potential to detect road subsidence in the early stage. CONCLUSIONS: Beacause of the simplicity of the calculation, the proposed approach has potential applications in managing road conditions while a vehicle travels along the road and detecting road subsidence using a device with an on-board computational capability, such as a smart phone.

PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to verity the applicability of a portable small-loop electromagnetic survey method to underground cavity detection. METHODS: In order to evaluate applicability of the method, a test bed comprised of four sections was constructed. The two sizes of the four cavities artificially formed at two depths were contained in the test bed. Each cavity was positioned at center of each 6 m long section. Four types of pavement materials such as unpaved ground, bricks, asphalt, and concrete were used at every section. The portable small-loop electromagnetic device measured electrical conductivity as an exploration signal that varied according to the electrical properties underground. The electrical conductivity was converted into two-dimensional electrical resistivity distribution sections using an inverse analysis program. RESULTS : The results showed that the electrical resistivity of the non-cavity area was lower than that of the cavity area. The electrical resistivity increased as the measurement device moved closer to the cavity position. It was also found that the electrical resistivity values were not significantly affected by pavement type. The small cavity with diameter of 35 cm could be detected up to 1.2 m depth. CONCLUSIONS: Therefore, it was verified that the portable small-loop electromagnetic survey method is applicable to the detection of cavities in sections where ground subsidence is expected. This method can be effectively used for small-scale roads such as sidewalks, parkways, and side streets where large exploration equipment cannot enter.

PURPOSES : In this paper, the flow of cement paste layers that were contoured at different times were simulated by computational fluid dynamics in 2D axisymmetric conditions to evaluate the effect of yield stress on the flow of cement paste layers. METHODS: In the 2D domain, the cylindrical-shaped bottom layer was placed on even ground and allowed to flow by gravitational force for only 25 s. The exact same shape of cement paste, the top layer, was placed on top of the bottom layer, and both layers were allowed to flow for an additional 25 s. The shape and pressure of both layers were evaluated. RESULTS: The relationship between the yield stress and diameter of the layer was clearly observed from the numerical simulation results. It was also observed that the interface between the top and bottom layers was affected by the yield stress and fluidity of materials. The total pressure underneath the bottom layer can be a good indicator of whether the material is still flowing or not. CONCLUSIONS: The Navier-Stokes equation with Bingham model is an excellent model to simulate the flow of contoured layers, which can be used to explain the flow of materials in various areas such as wet-on-wet pavement construction, structural member precasting, and 3D printing construction.

PURPOSES: Using recyclable materials in asphalt pavement industry is one of the essential tasks not only for saving construction budgets but also for mitigating environmental pollutions. Over the past decades, several efforts have been made by road maintenance agencies to incorporate various recyclable materials into virgin asphalt paving mixtures. As a result, reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), which consists of old pavement material was selected as one of most widely used recyclable materials. In this paper, the effects of using different amounts of single-recycled RAP (SRRAP) and double-recycled RAP (DRRAP) on the low-temperature characteristics of asphalt mixtures were investigated. METHODS: To evaluate the low-temperature characteristics of SRRAP and DRRAP mixtures, two experiments, the bending beam mixture creep test and semicircular bending fracture test were performed. The experimental parameters: creep stiffness, m-value, thermal stress, critical cracking temperature, fracture energy, and fracture toughness were computed then compared. RESULTS : RAP mixtures (SRRAP or DRRAP) showed lower mechanical performance compared with conventional asphalt mixtures. The differences became distinct with increased RAP addition. However, the performance differences between SRRAP and DRRAP mixtures were not significant in all cases, which indicate the possible application of re-recycling technology (DRRAP) in the asphalt pavement industry. CONCLUSIONS : The addition of RAP to virgin asphalt can mitigate low-temperature performance despite the improvement in fracture performance observed in some cases. Therefore, using RAP (SRRAP or DRRAP) mixtures on inter or sublayer construction, but not on the surface layer, is recommended. Moreover, the possibility of applying double-recycling technology in asphalt pavement industry can be introduced in this study because not significant performance differences were found between SRRAP and DRRAP mixtures especially at low temperature.

PURPOSES: In this study, the effects of adding a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) to the concrete mixture on the strength of the concrete and abrasion resistance were analyzed, and whether the property of concrete can be improved by the internal curing effect of SAP was evaluated. METHODS: In this study, a total of eight different mixes were tested. The amounts of SAP added were 0%, 0.6%, 1.2% while that of silica fume were 0% and 6% based on the weight of the binder. The compressive test, rapid chloride penetration resistance test, and abrasion test were performed to verify the internal curing effects of SAP. RESULTS : The compressive test showed that SAP concrete had greater compressive strength than ordinary concrete. Comparison of the compressive strengths of dry and wet cured specimens of each mixture showed that SAP concrete had a smaller difference compared with ordinary concrete. The rapid chloride resistance test showed that SAP did not increase chloride penetration resistance. However, since this experiment only considered wet curing, further investigation of dry curing is necessary. The abrasion resistance test showed that for the case of concrete cured under dry conditions without spraying the curing compound, the abrasion resistance of the SAP concrete improved by approximately 49% at 14 days and 27% at 28 days of curing compared with ordinary concrete. CONCLUSIONS : The effect of SAP on the strength and abrasion resistance of concrete was analyzed. The results showed that the internal curing effect of SAP improved concrete strength and abrasion resistance. The internal curing effect maintains the overall internal humidity in concrete by supplying water held by the SAP to the dried cement paste.

PURPOSES: This study, compared and verified the test results of post-bearing capacity and the test results of a full-scale vehicle crash test on flat ground and slope ground. METHODS: The results of the bearing capacity test on the barrier post show that, the bearing capacity of the banking section ground and flat ground was relatively large. In the full-scale vehicle crash test, the maximum deformation of the barrier was not large, and the occupant safety indexes(THIV, PHD) were relatively similar. The post-bearing capacity test is a static load test. RESULTS: Therefore, there was a large difference on the flat ground and on the banking section ground because of the effect of soil failure. On the other hand, the full-scale vehicle crash test is close to the impact load. CONCLUSIONS: Therefore, it can be concluded that the whole barrier system was not affected by soil failure alone.

PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to determine the effective maintenance method for a deteriorated jointed plain concrete pavement by evaluating the long-term performance of the repaired concrete overlay sections. METHODS: Long-term performance evaluation was conducted for the test section at the intersection between SeoPa and IlDong in National Road No. 37. Firstly, the distress conditions of the concrete pavement, which was constructed in December 2003, were evaluated by referring to the existing report. Secondly, the results of pretreatment, material properties, and initial performance evaluation were analyzed for the overlay test conducted in 2011. Finally, a field survey was carried out using visual inspection and nondestructive testing with a FWD in August 2018, and long-term performance evaluation was conducted for about seven years after maintenance. RESULTS: Visual inspection of the old concrete pavement showed severe damage such as joint spalling and asphalt patching. The cores taken from the old concrete had indirect tensile strength of 2.6-3.8 MPa. It is difficult to determine the freeze-thaw resistance because the average amount of air was only 1.6-2.2%, and spacing factor values were over 400㎛ regardless of location. During maintenance, overlay and partial depth repair were performed by applying three types of overlay materials which are typical in Korea. On the material side, high compressive strength (over 40 MPa) and chlorine ion penetration resistance (less than 1,000 coulomb) at 56 days were achieved. In August 2018, seven years after maintenance, visual inspection and nondestructive testing using FWD were conducted for long-term performance evaluation. Regardless of the maintenance materials, surface deficiencies such as spalling and map cracking occurred extensively near the joint. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, if the strength and durability index of aged concrete pavement is low, then it was determined that partial depth repair at the joint is not an effective maintenance alternative. In the case of overlay, the durability of the overlay material is considered the most important factor. In the absence of adequate reinforcement at the joint of the distressed concrete pavement, freeze-thaw damage caused by moisture penetration through the joint and failure of the old concrete are repeated, making it difficult to ensure long-term durability.

PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to compare the advantages and disadvantages of 3D multichannel ground penetrating radar (GPR) equipment, which is mainly used for road cavity detection. The optimal signal analysis method was also proposed for 3D GPR data. METHODS: Four types of 3D GPR equipment were used to detect road cavities in a pilot road section in Seoul. The obtained GPR signals were evaluated in the time and frequency domain using raw data. In addition, various types of filters were applied to time domain (B-scan) data to examine the optimal signal processing. RESULTS: The time and frequency domain analysis of raw data showed that all the equipment produced reverse and strong signal reflections owing to the low dielectric permittivity of air in the cavity compared with neighbor materials. Also, the asymmetric parabolic curve was observed as well. The optimal signal processing method was determined to detect road cavities: zero-setting and background removal should be applied to all equipment. Bandpass filtering can be optionally applied to remove high-frequency noise or direct waves. CONCLUSIONS: Despite the different specifications of GPR equipment in terms of signal generation and bandwidth, the GPR signals were appropriate in terms of zero-setting, noise level, and depth of investigation. Therefore, all the multichannel GPR devices evaluated were found to be suitable to detect road cavities located at depths of 1.0 and 1.5 m after the application of proper filtering process.

PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of combined organic and inorganic hybrid mortar used as repair materials (UM mortar) for concrete road facilities by comparison with cement repair materials (RM mortar). METHODS: In order to produce UM mortar, four different levels of inorganic materials were adopted and the ratio of main resin to hardener was fixed at 1:2. For comparison, RM mortar made with cement repair materials was also produced. Fluidity, strength characteristics, length change, and freezing-thawing resistance of the mortars were measured at the predetermined periods. In addition, the microstructures of the mortars was performed on the 28-day mortar samples to examine the properties of the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). RESULTS : It was observed that the mechanical properties, except for compressive strength, and freezing-thawing resistance of UM mortars were much better than those of RM mortar. Furthermore, showing a densified ITZ properties on the UM mortars from the microstructural observation, the usage of UM mortars exhibited a beneficial effect on the enhancement of mortar properties. CONCLUSIONS: It is concluded that the application of combined organic and inorganic hybrid mortars is a possible option for the repair of deteriorated concrete road facilities.

PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to evaluate and improve the potential risk of road cave-ins due to subsurface cavities based on the deflection ratio measured with light falling weight deflectometer (LFWD) tests. METHODS : A cavity database for Seoul was developed and sorted. LFWD tests based on the database were conducted on pavement sections with and without road cavities detected by ground-penetrating radar (GPR) tests; after excavating the area, the cavity sizes were measured. The deflection ratio was applied and analyzed by cavity management grade methods of Japan and Seoul. RESULTS : The results of comparative analysis show that the deflection method can detect road cavities in areas of the narrow road (or in narrow areas of the road). The average deflection ratio of the cavity sections to the robust sections were 2.48 for high-risk cavities, 1.85 for medium-risk level cavities, and 1.49 for low-risk cavities. Risk levels in Japan and Seoul were reclassified according to the deflection ratios. CONCLUSIONS : LFWD test results can be applied to verify and improve the subsurface cavity risk level by comparing maximum deflection and deflection ratio between cavity area and non-cavity area at the loading center. LFWD devices also have more advantages compared with larger NDT(Nondestructive test) because FWD and GPR encounter difficulties in traffic control and they could not get in a narrow roads.

PURPOSES : The performance of pavements is decreased by reduced bearing capacity, deterioration, and distress due to complex loading conditions such as traffic and environmental loads. Therefore, the proper maintenance of pavements must be performed, and accurate evaluation of pavement conditions is essential. In order to improve the accuracy of the heavy weight deflectometer (HWD), which is a nondestructive evaluation method, the correlation between HWD test results and temperature factors were analyzed in this study. METHODS : The HWD test was conducted five times for one day on airport concrete pavement, and the ambient temperature, surface temperature, and slab internal temperature were collected. Since the slab internal temperature was nonlinear, it was replaced by the equivalent linear temperature difference (ELTD). The correlation between the HWD test results and each temperature factor was analyzed by the coefficient of correlation and coefficient of determination. RESULTSAND: The deflection of the slab center, mid edge, and corner, and impulse stiffness modulus (ISM) showed significantly high correlation with each temperature factor, especially the ELTD. However, the load transfer Efficiency (LTE) had very low correlation with the temperature factors. CONCLUSIONS : It is necessary to analyze the effect of aggregate interlocking on LTE according to the overall temperature changes in slabs by conducting seasonal HWD tests. It is also necessary to confirm the effect of seasonal temperature changes on deflection and ISM.

PURPOSES: The objective of this study is to evaluate the properties of eco-friendly waterproofing materials for bridge decks. METHODS: Various waterproofing materials and construction methods that are widely used in Korea were evaluated. Then, the problems in field application were identified. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to improve constructability and stability. Thus, the properties of heating waterproofing membranes and waterproofing systems using recycling additives were evaluated. In addition, a field test was conducted to ensure the construct-ability and stability. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : Waterproofing materials were developed using waste tires and carbon black the results of the softening point test, tensile adhesion test, and shear adhesion test. A new sheet system, which consists of mesh and vinyl, was also determined from the sheet test. The properties of waterproofing materials were better than those developed under the "A Asphalt Concrete Pavement Construction Guidelines" according to the results of laboratory tests and the report of the authorized testing agency. Finally, the field test showed that the materials met quality standards. In future research, it will be necessary to conduct continuous field tests and follow-up inspections.

PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to examine the manufacturing method for emulsified asphalt and its bond performance by analyzing the properties of the emulsifier used to produce cold recycled asphalt mixtures. METHODS: In this study, four types of slow-setting cationic emulsifiers, a microsurfacing emulsifier, and six types of nonionic emulsifiers were used to manufacture emulsified asphalt. Because each emulsifier requires its own unique effective dose to provide the best performance, the optimum asphalt content for each effective dose was determined. Then, the optimum asphalt content for the emulsified asphalt mixture was determined by the tests to check its basic physical properties. By using the determined optimum content, asphalt mixtures were manufactured and dynamic immersion and tensile strength tests were conducted on the mixtures to analyze the influence of the emulsifier on the physical properties of the mixtures. RESULTS : The dynamic immersion test results showed a coating ratio of 54-85%, which is considerably higher than that of using ordinary straight asphalt. The tensile strength test yielded noncompliant values less than 0.4 N/mm, which is the standard requirement for dry indirect tensile strength. The correlation analysis between the dynamic immersion and tensile strength ratio tests showed very high correlation of 0.78. The correlation between the emulsifier content and water resistance performance was low, between -0.55 and -0.24. CONCLUSIONS : While the storage stability improves with increasing emulsifier, the effectiveness proportional to the increase is weaker as the emulsifier increases. The performance testing of asphalt residues before and after manufacturing the emulsified asphalt showed no significant change. It is proved that the emulsified asphalt maintains high coating resistance according to the dynamic immersion test results. In addition, according to the results of tensile strength ratio, cold recycled asphalt mixtures manufactured by the materials normally and commercially used are not compliant with the national standard specification; thus, additional effective materials will be needed for quality compliance. In conclusion, it is evident that the dynamic immersion and tensile strength ratio tests have good correlation, but the quantity of emulsifiers used is not related to the level of moisture resistance.

PURPOSES: The object of this study is to select appropriate inorganic materials, and find the best mixing formula to secure fast curing time and enough initial strength, and then to evaluate the durability of the asphalt mixtures according to the degree of addition of the compound manufactured by the determined blending ratio. METHODS : The breaking time and reactivity between seven kinds of inorganic minerals, and the selected recycled aggregate and emulsified asphalt were compared to determine the best initial curing strength for the mixtures. Then, three inorganic materials were chosen as the materials that provide good breaking time and reactivity, and the best mixing formula for the three materials was determined. The chemical composition of the compound manufactured using the mixing formula was analyzed by energy dispersive x-ray system method. Finally, indirect tensile strength (ITS) test was performed (for two days) at room temperature to determine the proper amount of additives that will provide the best initial strength. RESULTS: From the results of the reactivity test, the best mixing formula (A:C:G = 60:30:10) for the three selected inorganic materials with short braking time and high reactivity was determined. The four types of cold reclaimed asphalt mixtures for ITS testing were manufactured by adding the inorganic material compounds at 0%, 3%, 5%, and 7%, and the ITS values were measured after two curing days. The ITS values at 5% and 7% were 0.308 MPa and 0.415 MPa, respectively. The results of quality control tests (Marshall stability, porosity, flow value, etc.) at 5% and 7% satisfied the specification criterion for the cold recycled asphalt mixtures. CONCLUSIONS : The selected inorganic materials (A, C, and G) and the best mixing formula (A:C:G = 60:30:10) accelerated the reaction with emulsified asphalt and shortened the curing time. Depending on the inorganic material used, the breaking time and reactivity can be directly related or unrelated. This is because of the chemical compositions of recycled aggregates, infiltrated foreign matter, and chemical reactions between the inorganic materials and other materials. Therefore, it is important to select the proper materials and the best mixing formula when evaluating the characteristics of the practically used materials such as recycled aggregates, inorganic materials, and emulsified asphalt.

PURPOSES : This study was conducted to develop a traffic accident prediction model using traffic accident data and management and service evaluation data on bus companies in Busan, and to determine the possibility of establishing customized traffic accident prevention measures for each company. METHODS: First, we collected basic data on the characteristics of urban bus traffic accidents and conducted basic statistical analysis. Then, we developed traffic accident prediction models using Poisson regression and negative binomial regression to examine the characteristics of major items of management and service evaluation affecting traffic accidents. RESULTS : The Poisson regression model showed overdispersion; hence, the negative binomial regression model was selected. The results of the traffic accident prediction model developed using negative binomial regression are acceptable at 95% confidence level (a = 0.05). CONCLUSIONS : The traffic accident prediction model indicates that the management of the traffic record system and internal and external management items in service evaluation have a significant effect on the reduction of traffic accidents. In particular, because human factors are the main cause of traffic accidents, bus traffic accidents are expected to greatly decrease if drivers' dangerous driving behaviors are effectively controlled by bus companies.

PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to compare applicability, explanation power, and flexibility of traffic accident models between estimating model using the statistical method and the machine learning method. METHODS: In order to compare and analyze traffic accident models between model estimated using the statistical method and machine learning method, data acquisition was conducted, and traffic accident models were estimated using statistical methods such as negative binomial regression model, and machine learning methods such as a generalized regression neural network (GRNN). Then, the fitness of model as R2, root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), accuracy, etc., were determined to compare the traffic accident models. RESULTS: The results showed that the annual average daily traffic (AADT), speed limits, number of lanes, land usage, exclusive right turn lanes, and front signals were significant for both traffic accident models. The GRNN model of total traffic accidents had been better statistical significant with R2: 0.829, RMSE: 2.495, MAPE: 32.158, and Accuracy: 66.761 compared with the negative binomial regression model with R2: 0.363, RMSE: 9.033, MAPE: 68.987, and Accuracy: 8.807. The GRNN model of injury traffic accidents also showed similar results of model’s statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: Traffic accident models estimated with GRNN had better statistical significance compared with models estimated with statistical methods such as negative binomial regression model.

PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to analyze the elderly's preference for ride hailing (car sharing) services that use non-commercial vehicles and to identify the crucial factors influencing this preference. METHODS : Based on a literature review, a questionnaire was made to explore the preference of the elderly (over 65 years old) for ride hailing services. The survey was conducted in a rural area in Chungcheongnam-do. A total of 210 completed questionnaires were obtained. A binary probit model was applied to estimate the preference choice behavior. RESULTS: Monthly income, gender, age, and the time it takes to walk to the nearest bus stop were the main factors that influenced the preference for ride hailing services. The preference for ride hailing is likely to decrease when the monthly income of the elderly increase, and increase when the nearest bus stop is far away or as people get older. In addition, women had a stronger preference for ride hailing than men. CONCLUSIONS : For the elderly, ride hailing services can help them maintain their mobility and could be one of the countermeasures for demand-responsive transport from a sustainable perspective.
