        PURPOSES : In this study, a numerical clogging model that can be used to realistically visualize the movement of particles in cylindrical permeability test equipment was proposed based on the system coupling of computational fluid dynamics with the discrete element method and experimental permeability test results. This model can also be used to simulate the interaction of dust particles with bedding particles. METHODS: A 4-way system coupling method with multiphase volumes of the fluid model and porous media model was proposed. The proposed model needs to consider the influence of flow on the dust particles, interaction between the dust particles, and interaction between the dust particles and bedding layer particles. The permeability coefficient of the bedding layer in cylindrical permeability test equipment was not calculated by using the permeability test result, but was estimated by using the particle packing model and Ergun model. RESULTS : The numerical simulation demonstrated a good agreement with the experimental test results in terms of permeability and drain time. Additionally, the initial movement of particles due to the sudden drain hole opening was successfully captured by the numerical model. CONCLUSIONS : A 4-way coupling model was sufficient to simulate the water flow and particle movement in cylindrical permeability test equipment. However, additional tests and simulation are required to utilize the model for more realistic block pavement systems.

        PURPOSES : In this study, a series of fundamental falling head permeability tests were conducted on a binary particle mix bedding to determine the minimum water level, bedding layer thickness, and amount of dust that can result in the stable permeability with high repeatability. The determined condition is used to develop a CFD-DEM coupled clogging model that can explain the movement of dust particles in flowing water of a block pavement system. METHODS: A binary particle mixture is utilized to experimentally simulate an ideal bedding layer of a block pavement system. To obtain a bedding layer with maximum packing degree, the well-known particle packing degree model, i.e., the modified Toufar model, was utilized. The permeability of the bedding layer for various water levels, bedding layer thicknesses, and amounts of dust was calculated. The permeability for a small water level drop was also plotted to evaluate the effect of dust on the bedding layer clogging. RESULTS: It was observed that a water level of 100 mm, bedding depth of 70 mm, and dust amount of 0.3 g result in a stable permeability condition with high repeatability. The relationship between the minimum dust amount and surface clogging of the bedding layer was suggested based on the evaluation of the volumetric calculation of the particle and void and the permeability change in the test. CONCLUSIONS: The test procedure to determine the minimum water level, bedding thickness, and dust amount was successfully proposed. The mechanism of clogging on the surface of the bedding layer was examined by relating the volumetric characteristics of dust to the clogging surface.

        목적 : 본 연구는 보행이 가능한 편마비 장애인의 가정환경수정 중재 자료로 활용될 지침을 개발하고자 실시하였다. 연구방법 : 전문가 5명을 대상으로 델파이 연구를 시행하였다. 1차 조사는 모두 개방형 질문을 사용하여 실시하였고, 2차 조사는 1차 조사 결과와 선행 연구를 기본으로 하여 조사도구를 만들어 실시하였으며, 4점 척도의 폐쇄형 질문을 사용하였다. 3차 조사는 본인의 의견에 대해 수정할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다. 결과 : 연구 결과 내용 타당도 지수(content validity index; CVI) 최소값 0.78점 미만 및 수렴도 0.50점 초과인 31개의 항목을 제외하고, 총 96개의 항목을 지침으로 선정하였다. 이는 각 항목의 내용을 요소로 나누었을 때, 기능적 지원성은 49개, 이동과 출입의 용이성은 34개, 접근성은 23개, 공간의 기능과 효율성은 9개로 나타났다. 결론 : 본 지침은 가정환경수정 중재를 실시할 때 필요한 구체적인 내용을 포함하고 있으므로, 지역사회작업치료에서 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

        The active development of the global marine trade industries has been known to increase the inflows of marine invasive species and harmful organisms into the ecosystem, and the marine ecological disturbances. One of these invasive species, Ciona robusta, has now spread to the Korea Strait, the East Sea, and Jeju Island in connection with the climate change but not the Yellow Sea in Korea. Currently, the spread and distribution of C. robusta is increasingly damaging aquaculture and related facilities. Therefore, this study aims to identify the spread of C. robusta and potential habitats and to secure a data for the prevention of effective management measures due to climate change as well as damage the reduction in future through the prediction of spread. We used environmental variables in BioOracle. Also, the potential habitat and distribution of C. robusta was predicted using MaxEnt, a species distribution model. Two different RCP scenarios (4.5 and 8.5) were specified to predict the future distributions of C. robusta.         PURPOSES : In this paper, the flow of cement paste layers that were contoured at different times were simulated by computational fluid dynamics in 2D axisymmetric conditions to evaluate the effect of yield stress on the flow of cement paste layers. METHODS: In the 2D domain, the cylindrical-shaped bottom layer was placed on even ground and allowed to flow by gravitational force for only 25 s. The exact same shape of cement paste, the top layer, was placed on top of the bottom layer, and both layers were allowed to flow for an additional 25 s. The shape and pressure of both layers were evaluated. RESULTS: The relationship between the yield stress and diameter of the layer was clearly observed from the numerical simulation results. It was also observed that the interface between the top and bottom layers was affected by the yield stress and fluidity of materials. The total pressure underneath the bottom layer can be a good indicator of whether the material is still flowing or not. CONCLUSIONS: The Navier-Stokes equation with Bingham model is an excellent model to simulate the flow of contoured layers, which can be used to explain the flow of materials in various areas such as wet-on-wet pavement construction, structural member precasting, and 3D printing construction.

        Recently, the concept of an outrigger damper system with a damper added to the existing outrigger system has been developed and applied for dynamic response control of high-rise buildings. However, the study on the structural characteristics and design method of Outrigger damper system is in the early stages. In this study, a 50 story high - rise building was designed and an outrigger damper system with viscoelastic damper was applied for wind response control. The time history analysis was performed by using the kaimal spectrum to create an artificial wind load for a total of 1,000 seconds at 0.1 second intervals. Analysis of the top horizontal maximum displacement response and acceleration response shows that outrigger damper systems are up to 28.33% and 49.26% more effective than conventional outrigger systems, respectively. Also, it is confirmed that the increase of damping ratio of dampers is effective for dynamic response control. However, since increasing the damping capacity increases the economic burden, it is necessary to select the appropriate stiffness and damping value of the outrigger damper system.

        PURPOSES: In this paper, the packing degrees of binary granular mixtures under vibration compaction were simulated by using DEM with spherical particles to evaluate the applicability of the DEM for aggregate packing degree estimation. METHODS: The packing degrees of fine particles, coarse particles, and their mixture with different fine particle fractions were evaluated in DEM simulation for given various material property conditions. In order to check the validity of estimated packing degrees of particle mixtures, analytical model such as Furnas model that is capable of considering wall effect and loosening effect. RESULTS : DEM with spherical particles showed good agrement with analytical solution in terms of the packing degrees of binary granular mixtures with various fine particle fractions for most of conditions. Also, it was found that not the vibration amplitude but the ratio of particle diameter with vibration amplitude should be considered to explain the susceptibility of particle packing degree with vibration amplitude for the same acceleration condition and that the reduction in elastic modulus to shorten computational simulation time should be carefully considered when the packing degree is the most important concern. CONCLUSIONS: It was concluded that DEM with spherical particles are good enough to estimate the packing degree of binary granular particles for most of conditions. However, the effect of inter-particle frictions between fine and coarse particles have to be studied further in order to clarify the issue relating poor predictions for high inter-particle friction conditions.

        호소수에 대한 막여과 공정 설계 및 운영인자를 도출하기 위하여 부산시 소재 회동 수원지의 물을 원수로 하는 200 m3/일 용량의 정수처리 침지식 막여과 pilot을 운영하였다 (운영기간 : 2018년 1월 ~ 9월). 막여과 공정 운영 관점에서 주요한 원수 수질변화로는 1월 ~ 2월 사이 수온이 5 ℃ 이하를 유지하였고, 6~7월의 평균 탁도는 24±40 NTU 이었으며, 7월 중 태풍 발생으로 인하여 약 229 NTU의 고탁도가 유입되었다. 막여과 pilot 운영결과를 바탕으로 막여과 공정의 주요 설계값인 막여과 유속, 막여과 차압, 약품 세척 주기 및 단위공정의 운전순서를 결정하였다. 운영결과 중에서 특별히 괄목할 만한 관찰점은 막여과 배출수 탁도의 중력침전 제거율이 평균 94±4%로 분석된 것이다.

        PURPOSES : This paper proposes a design framework for planetary road infrastructure by considering the characteristic environment, natural resource, and loading conditions on the Moon and Mars. METHODS : From the perspective of civil engineering, available literatures such as technical articles, NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) Technology Roadmaps 2015, Strategic Knowledge Gap, and mechanistic-empirical pavement design method are comprehensively reviewed for planetary road construction. The concept of in situ resource utilization (ISRU) is re-interpreted by comparing ISRU on the Earth and Moon with emphasis on the significance of interconnection between resource utilization and infrastructure development. RESULTS : According to the literature reviews, the factors that have significant effect on planetary road pavement design, construction, and maintenance are selected and evaluated. In addition, by considering the interconnection issue, a design framework is suggested that includes the resource issues not only of planetary road pavement but also of construction equipment. Subsequently, the framework is widened to apply for preliminary planetary infrastructure. CONCLUSIONS : Although the proposed preliminary design framework is not conclusive and has to be elaborated, an initial framework to consider interconnection issues and ISRU is suggested for planetary road pavement. The suggested framework will be applied for road pavement design and will be used to evaluate the cost-benefit ratio of alternatives.

        Large space structures exhibit different natural vibration characteristics depending on the aspect ratio of structures such as half-open angle. In addition, since the actual large space structure is mostly supported by the lower structure, it is expected that the natural vibration characteristics of the upper structure and the entire structure will vary depending on the lower structure. Therefore, in this study, the natural vibration characteristics of the dome structure are analyzed according to the natural frequency ratio by controlling the stiffness of the substructure. As the natural frequency of the substructure increases, the natural frequency of the whole structure increases similarly to the natural frequency of the upper structure. Vertical vibration modes dominate at 30° and 45°, and horizontal vibration modes dominate at 60° and 90°.

        본 연구는 거친대추멍게 (Ascidiella aspersa)의 알 발육과 유생 부착에 미치는 수온과 염도의 영향을 파악하고자 실시하였다. 거친대추멍게 알 발육과 유생 부착 실험은 12개의 수온 조건 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28°C, 과 2개의 염도 조건 (30, 34 psu)에서 진행하였다. 거친대추멍게 알의 부화율과 발육률은 염도에 관계없이 수온이 높아짐에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보였으며 최적 수온 범위 이후 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 부화 및 발육을 위한 최적 수온은 20~22°C의 범위를 보였다. 저온 발육임계수온은 30 psu와 34 psu에서 각각 1.5°C와 1.8°C로 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 부착률은 염도에 관계없이 16~22°C의 최적 수온 범위를 보였으며 부착시간은 수온이 증가함에 따라 지속적으로 증가 하였다. 결과적으로 거친대추멍게의 최적 발육 및 생존 수온은 염도 조건에 관계없이 20~22°C 범위를 보였다. 본 연구 결과는 국내 양식장에서의 거친대추멍게에 의한 경제적 피해가 증가하고 있는 시점에서 거친대추멍게의 분포 및 발생 시기를 예측하고 확산 방지 및 방제 방안을 구축하는 데 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

        이 논문은 상류로부터 유입되는 토석을 도시생활권의 목표공간까지 유도하기 위한 유도둑의 도류 각 변화에 따른 토석류 퇴적형태 및 최대 충격파고의 변화를 파악할 목적으로 실시한 실내 모형실험 결과를 정리한 것이다. 실험결과, 유도둑이 상류에서 발생한 토석류를 목표로 하는 방향으로 유도하는 데 매우 효과적인 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 유도둑의 도류각이 30° 이상일 경우 토석류의 유심이 유도둑과 충돌하여 에너지가 손실됨으로써 토석의 퇴적이 발생하였다. 특히, 유도둑의 도류각이 0° 에서 30°까지 증가할수록 퇴적토석의 폭이 점차 좁아지고 두꺼워지는 것으로 나타났으나, 유도둑의 도류각이 45°인 경우에는 지나친 통수단면의 감소를 초래하여 상류구간에서 토석퇴적의 집중도가 높아 토석류가 유도둑을 월류하여 범람할 가능성이 높은 것으로 판단되었다. 한편, 유도둑의 도류각이 30° 이하일 경우 토석류의 최대 충격파고는 유심선과 유도둑이 만나는 지점에서 형성되고, 이 지점을 기준으로 실험 중에 상류구간에서 최대의 토석퇴적이 형성되며, 실험 종료 후 하류구간에서 토석 퇴적의 피크가 낮게 형성되었다. 다만, 유도둑의 도류각이 45°인 경우에는 최대 충격파고가 실험 중 최대 토석퇴적이 발생한 지점에서 매우 높게 형성되는 것으로 나타나 토석이 집중적으로 퇴적되어 후속류 등에 의한 토석의 유도에 효과적이지 못할 것으로 판단된다. 비록 이번 연구를 통하여 유도 둑이 토석류 처리에 유효하다는 점은 확인되었지만, 토석류의 충격파고에 따른 유도둑의 적정 유효고 설정에 관한 수리학적 연구가 추후 필요하며, 나아가 이러한 설계기준을 근거로 현지적용에 대한 시공기준을 정립하여야 할 것이다.

        Laminated graphene oxide (GO) membrane has great attention for ultrafast flux membrane with well-defined pore structure. However, laminated structure is sensitive to various factors such as functionalization, fabrication method and especially support morphology due to ultrathin thickness. Herein, we investigated surface roughness effect by controlling systematically wrinkled structure of support with ion beam treatment. Wrinkled surface of support generates free volume at interface, facilitating fast water transport, which confirmed 6.4 times enhancement on permeation of water while maintaining high rejection of all dye molecules. The tunability of nanostructure through support control can provide development for ultrathin GO membrane in water purification.
