        Compared to operational wastes, nuclear power plant (NPP) decommissioning wastes are generated in larger quantities within a short time and include diverse types with a wider range of radiation characteristics. Currently used 200 L drums and IP-2 type transport containers are inefficient and restrictive in packaging and transporting decommissioning wastes. Therefore, new packaging and transport containers with greater size, loading weight, and shielding performance have been developed. When transporting radioactive materials, radiological safety should be assessed by reflecting parameters such as the type and quantity of the package, transport route, and transport environment. Thus far, safety evaluations of radioactive waste transport have mainly targeted operational wastes, that have less radioactivity and a smaller amount per transport than decommissioning wastes. Therefore, in this study, the possible radiation effects during the transport from NPP to disposal facilities were evaluated to reflect the characteristics of the newly developed containers and decommissioning wastes. According to the evaluation results, the exposure dose to transport workers, handling workers, and the public was lower than the domestic regulatory limit. In addition, all exposure dose results were confirmed, through sensitivity analysis, to satisfy the evaluation criteria even under circumstances when radioactive materials were released 100% from the container.

        To transport radioactive waste generated during the decommissioning of Kori Unit 1, transport containers of various sizes are being developed. Since these radioactive decommissioning waste transport containers are larger than the specifications of the existing IP-2 type transport containers, which are for operational radioactive waste, design of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI needs to be changed when transporting them to disposal facility using the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI, which carries operational radioactive waste. In this study, design changes of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI, cargo hold modification plan for efficient loading of radioactive decommissioning waste transport containers and radioactive decommissioning waste container loading arrangement (plan) were evaluated during the design life period (year 2034). First, as only the IP-2 type transport container with a weight of 7.5 tons and size of 1.6 m (W) × 3.4 m (L) × 1.2m (H) can be loaded in the cargo hold, if only the decommissioning radioactive waste containers are to be loaded and transported, cargo hold needs to be reinforced. Second, when both the radioactive decommissioning waste transport container of the same size as the current operating radioactive waste transport container, and the radioactive decommissioning waste transport container of the same size as the ISO-type transport container are to be loaded in the cargo hold of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI and transported, the overall design changes (cargo hold size and load reinforcement) are required. Third, since the safe working load of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI crane is 12.5-tons, it shall be replaced with a ship crane of 35-tons or more to handle the decommissioning radioactive waste container smoothly, or a gantry crane used in general port facilities shall be installed. When replacing with a ship crane of 35-tons or more, ship buoyancy, ship stability, and ship structural safety shall be considered. The possibility of moving in all 4 directions for smooth operation, and the possibility of lifting the transport container to a position higher than the height of the CHEONG -JEONG-NURI shall be considered. Loading and transporting all decommissioning radioactive waste containers, which are the same size as IP-2 and ISO-type transport containers, in the cargo hold of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI is uneconomical due to the need for overall design changes (cargo size and load reinforcement, etc.). Also, delay in delivery of the operation wastes is expected due to a long-term design change period. Therefore, it is considered reasonable to load and transport only the decommissioning radioactive waste transport container, which is the same size as the IP-2 transport container, in the cargo hold.

        The design life of the radioactive waste carrier, the CHEONG JEONG NURI, is in the year 2034, when the decommissioning of Kori Unit 1 is expected. As only IP-2 type transport containers (7.5- tons, 1.6 m (W) × 3.4 m (L) × 1.2 m (H)) can be loaded onto the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI, the radioactive decommissioning waste (RDW) transport containers neither of 35-tons maximum weight nor ISO type can be accommodated. Accordingly, either a new vessel (NV) to replace the CHEONGJEONG- NURI or a change in the loading dock design of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI is required. In this study, the necessity of building a NV capable of accommodating the issued containers above is analyzed focusing, (1) the estimated building and operating costs of the NV, and (2) the economic feasibility of the NV ‘s RDW transportation scenarios. Among bulk carriers, the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI was designed as handy-size ship type. It is operated reflecting various design requirements to satisfy the domestic/international legal requirements. To estimate the cost of the NV, the same vessel type and design criteria of the CHEONG-JEONGNURI were considered. The shipping price information of the Korea Ocean Business Corporation, as of August 2022, the building cost of bulk carrier Handysize (building NV type) is about USD 30 million. Considering domestic/overseas variables, such as future labor costs, international inflation, interest rate hike, etc., the building costs are expected to continuously rise. Furthermore, vessel operation costs of crew labor, vessel, fuel, and insurance are incurred separately. Due to the increase in oil price, and wages of special positions, such as general seafarers and radiation safety managers, the NV’s operating cost is expected to be about KRW 3.8 billion every year, which is about KRW 1.1 billion higher than that of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI. The expected total cost of building and operating the NV is about KRW 65 billion. Assuming the repayment period of the NV building cost is the same as that of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI building cost reimbursement agency and analyzing the economic feasibility of the transport scenario of the NV built by adding up about KRW 3.8 billion of the operating cost, cost about KRW 880 million per voyage of the NV built is expected, which being KRW 620 million more than the current cost (KRW 260 million) per trip of the CHEONG-JEONG-NURI. Therefore, transporting the RDW to the disposal facility through sustainable use of the CHEONGJEONG- NURI (considering design life extension and design change) is evaluated as more appropriate than building NV.

        The objectives of this study were to evaluate the antimicrobial effects of ε-poly-L-lysine mixture (EPM) on cheon-ggukjang and to determine the optimal mixing ratio in cheonggukjang. Increasing the EPM up to 2% decreased via-ble cell counts at both 15oC and 30oC storage. The pH of cheonggukjang without EPM increased slowly over thestorage periods, but cheonggukjang with EPM showed a slight increasing tendency, with the highest pH at 2% EPM.The sensory scores, such as texture and flavor, were highest in samples containing 2% EPM; however, overall pref-erence was not significantly different when compared to the control. For the optimum cheonggukjang processingconditions, 13 experimental points were selected. Soybean and EPM were chosen as independent variables. Viablecell count, pH, texture, and overall preference were measured. The optimum formulation of cheonggukjang usingthe numerical analysis was found to be 98.52% soybean and 1.48% EPM, resulting in a 0.722 desirability value.

        This study aims to identify the effect of home physical therapy on patients who left the hospital after total knee arthroplasty, compared to the Daily living group, when it was applied to them, under the guidance of physical therapists. As research subjects, 20 patients that were scheduled to leave the hospital after unilateral total knee arthroplasty, were chosen, and they were randomly divided into a home physical therapy group(10 patients) and an Daily living group(10 patients) in order to conduct an experiment. During the 4-week research, home physical therapy was offered for 40 mins once for 5 days a week, and muscular strength, gait components were measured. For muscular strength, quadriceps muscle strength, hamstring muscle strength were measured, and as gait components, endurance, speed, step time, single-limb support were analysed. For this experiment, pre- and post-measurement were performed, and collected data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 18.0 statistical program. From the analysis of data, the following study results were obtained. Home physical therapy group and Daily living group both showed significant improvements in quadriceps muscle strength, hamstring muscle strength, and quadriceps muscle strength, hamstring muscle strength of home physical therapy group more significantly improved than Daily living group's. In relation to gait components, gait endurance, gait speed, step time significantly improved in both of home physical therapy group and Daily living group, whereas home physical therapy group only showed significant improvements in single-limp support. According to the comparison between two groups, gait speed, single-limp support and step time improved more significantly in the home physical therapy group than in the Daily living group. In conclusion, positive results were revealed in both home physical therapy group and Daily living group, with regard to muscular recovery of lower limbs of patients discharged from the hospital after total knee arthroplasty and walking, but considering the comparison results between two groups, it seems that applying home physical therapy is more effective than maintaining a daily life.

A total of 157 samples of beef, pork, and chicken were collected and analyzed for E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter. Resistances to tetracycline were declined in accord with reduced usage of tetracycline in live stock production. E. coli stains from chicken meat had higher multi-drug resistance ratio than strains from other meat. One extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL) producing E. coli and two ESBL producing Salmonella were identified in this study. ESBL producing Salmonella strains were confirmed to carry CTX-M-1 type genes.

        A small ultraviolet telescope which can be established on a satellite of the Korean small satellite (KITSAT) series is proposed with a concept design. Possible scientific objectives are identified, and the basic structure and characteristics of the telescope are described. In order to overcome limitation of pointing and stabilization accuracy of the KITSAT, a system of secondary stabilization is designed at the focal plane, where both star-tracking CCD and science detector share a 1.2deg field of view. Star tracking information is fed to three-axis drivers that move the platform on which the star-tracking CCD and science detector are installed. The proposed stabilization system is light and efficient, in comparison with a standard system of stabilization that basically moves the whole telescope or satellite. With a good intensified CCD and second stabilization system, the telescope will achieve a limiting magnitude of 21 at 1600 angstrom, which is sufficient for observing a variety of celestial objects, such as hot stars, nebulae, galaxies with UV excess, and quasars.

        본 시험은 우리나라에서 발생하는 푸른곰팡이병균의 종의 빈도와 발병환경 및 방제법을 구명코져 실시하였다. 시험결과 Trichoderma koningi, T. lignorum, T. glaucum과 미동정의 1종등 4종의 병원균이 분리되었고 이들의 빈도는 각각 와 이었다. 푸른곰팡이병균은 감자배양액, 왁스만배양액과 리차드배양액에서 생육이 잘 되었으며 중성-염기성배지에서는 생육이 불량한 반면 산성에서 생육이 왕성하였으며 최적산도는 pH4였다. 양송이 수확기간 중 재배사내의 온도는 내외 일 때 본명의 발생이 적었고 수량이 많으며 이상에서는 본병의 발생이 격심하였다. 푸른곰팡이병균은 복토흙 소독시 에서 60분, 혹은 에서 30분간 열처리하므로서 완전히 사멸하였고 퇴비 후발효 과정에서도 사멸되었다.

        Gold kiwifruit was fermented with Lactobacillus plantarum CK10 derived from kimchi and the fermented products were extracted with ethanol at various fermentation time-points The bacterial cellular density, total titratable acidity, total polyphenol content (TPC), and total flavonoid content (TFC) increased during fermentation, while pH values and total soluble solids decreased. Levels of TPC and TFC were highest after five days, at 1.21±0.13 mg GAE/g dry weight and 0.36±0.04 mg RE/g dry weight, respectively. The antioxidant activities of the fermented gold kiwifruit were analyzed using Fe2+ chelating activity, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)-, and 2,2'-azino-bis(3- ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS)- radical scavenging activities, and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity. The Fe2+ chelating activity of gold kiwifruit (125-500 μg/mL) peaked after five days of fermentation at 38.40-78.47%. The DPPH radical- scavenging activity and SOD-like activity were somewhat higher after seven days of fermentation (36.01-86.81% and 54.79-93.83% at 2.5-10.0 mg/mL concentration of samples, respectively). On the other hand, the ABTS radical- scavenging activity of fermented gold kiwifruit was similar to that of the non-fermented form. The polyphenol and flavonoid contents were significantly correlated with the antioxidant activity. In conclusion, our results suggest that TPC, TFC, and antioxidant activity were increased after five and seven days of fermentation, respectively. Therefore, fermented gold kiwifruit with its increased antioxidant activity could be useful in the development of functional foods.
