        Ascotis selenaria, a major geometridae moth in citrus trees, annually damages the citrus leaves and fruits. The surface of young citrus fruit were usually fed by 1st larva of A. selenaria after landing or stepping onto the citrus fruits. To protect the larval damages of citrus fruits needs to predict the accurate occurrence time of the 1st larva for spraying. Because larval occurrences is dependent on the oviposition of adult female and the eggs were not found in/on citrus trees, oviposition model of A. selenaria linked with the egg development model will be helpful of protecting larval damages on citrus fruits. Adult longevity, survival and fecundity of A.selenaria was investigated at 13, 16, 20, 24, 28, 30, 32, and 35℃. The longevity decreased as the temperature increased and the female development rates (1/median longevity) were well described by a modified sigmoid model, which was used to calculate the adult physiological age. Description of the total fecundity was used by a non-linear model: The maximum fecundity of A. selenaria was estimated as 2490 eggs and peaked temperature was 19.7℃ according to the fecundity model. The cumulative age-specific oviposition rate and the age-specific survival rate was well described by 2 parameters Weibull function and a reverse logistic curve respectively. Total fecundity model, age-sepecific oviposition model, and age-specific survival model were incorporated into the oviposition model.

        다시마의 기능성을 이용한 기능성 빵을 제조하고 30℃에서 저장하면서 그 품질 특성을 조사하였다. 다시마를 첨가한 빵의 수분 변화는 첨가농도에 관계 없이 저장 기간이 경과할수록 감소하였는데 대조구에 비하여 그 감소 폭이 완만하였다. 다시마를 첨가한 빵은 대조구에 비하여 pH의 변화가 적었으며 산도 변화(0.1N NaOH 소비 ml)에서 저장 초기 (신선한 것)에는 4.0∼4.3이었으나 부패가 진행된 후에는 5.6∼7.0이었다. 대조구는 부패가 진행된 정도를 나타낸 산도 5.6에 도달하는데 4일이 걸렸으며, 다시마를 첨가하여 제조한 빵은 7일이 걸렸다. 다시마 0.5%, 1% 첨가하였을 때 빵의 세균 성장은 다시마를 첨가하지 않은 것 보다 약 1일 정도 느렸으며, 성장속도는 더 느렸다. 다시마의 첨가에 의하여 빵의 텍스쳐 변화는 큰 차이가 없었으며 경도와 탄력성에서는 개선의 효과를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 다시마를 첨가함에 따라 빵의 기능성을 향상시킬 뿐만 아니라 제품의 shelf-life 연장효과를 가져올 것으로 보인다.

        흰쥐의 체중은 실험기간 동안 증가하였으며, 식이별로는 대조군이 가장 높은 체중 증가를 보였다. 콜레스테롤의 첨가는 흰쥐의 정상적인 성장을 억제하였으며, 콜레스테롤 첨가군에서는 콜레스터롤 대조군의 체중증가량이 유의하게 가장 낮았다. Rutin과 메밀채소를 식이에 첨가하였을 때 흰쥐의 콜레스테롤에 의한 성장억제 작용을 효과적으로 감소시키는 것으로 나타났으며, 첨가량의 증가에 따라 헐청에 총콜레스테롤 함량과 과산화지질 함량은 낮아진 반면에 HDL-cholesterol 함량은 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 고콜레스테롤 식이를 급여시킨 흰쥐의 장기에서는 칼슘침착이 나타나는 병리조직학적 변화를 보였으며, 메밀채소 섭취에 의하여 칼슘침착의 정도는 완화되었다.

        To examin ripening in peach types, cell wall contents and Polygalacturonase activity were compared in Changbang, Daegubo and Yumyung peaches. Among peach types, the hardness of Daegubo was the lowest. Yumyung peach had the highest content of alcohol-insoluble substances and Changbang peach of cell wall. The contents of total and insoluble pectic substances were little different between Changbang and Yumyung peach, while the lowest in Daegubo. Daegubo peach had the highest activity of polygalacturonase, Changbang and Yumyung peach in succession.

        Toxohormone-L is a lipolytic factor, found in ascites fluid of sarcoma 180-bearing mice and of patients with hepatoma. A substance that inhibited the lipolytic action of Toxohormone-L was isolated and purified from Korean red ginseng powder. This substance had a pectin-like a 1, 4-polygalacturonan backbone with some acetoxyl groups, and so was an acidic polysaccharide. It inhibited Toxohormone-L induced liploysis in a dose dependent manner at concentrations higher than 10㎍/㎖. Purified acidic polysaccharide yield(PG_4-3 and PG_4-4 fraction) was about 0.03%. And also pectic acid that inhibited the lipolytic action of Toxohormone -L.

        사과는 에틸렌에 의해 호흡량이 일시적으로 상승하는 호흡급등형 과실이다. 에틸렌 발생은 세포벽분해효소 활성화와 세포벽 연화를 진행시켜 사과의 상품성과 저장성을 떨어뜨리는 원인이 된다. 사과의 에틸렌 생합성 과정에는 Md-ACS1 및 Md-ACO1 유전자가 연관되어 있으며, 두 유전자는 과실의 에틸렌 발생량과 경도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 사과 국내육성 28품종의 Md-ACS1 및 Md-ACO1 대립유전자형을 분석하고, ‘Fuji(FJ)', ‘RubyS (RS)', ‘Hongro(HR)', ‘Arisoo(AS)', ‘Summer King(SK)', ‘Greenball(GB)', ‘Golden Supreme(GS)'을 대상으로 수확 후 25일까지의 에틸렌 발생량 및 상온저장(20℃) 20일 동안의 경도 연화율을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 낮은 에틸렌 발생량과 관련 된 대립유전자(favorable alleles0(FA)) ACS1-2, ACO1-1이 많을수록 에틸렌 발생량과 경도 연화율이 낮은 경향을 보였다. GS은 ACS1-1/1, ACO1-1/2(FA 1)으로 모든 품종 중 가장 높은 에틸렌 발생 수치와 경도 연화율를 보였다. SK와 GB은 ACS1-1/2, ACO1-1/2(FA 2)으로 ACS1-2/2, ACO1-1/2(FA 3)인 HR와 AS 보다는 높고 GS 보다 낮은 에틸렌 발생량과 경도 연화율을 보였다. ACS1-2/2, ACO1-1/1(FA 4)인 FJ는 RS를 제외한 모든 품종 중에 에틸렌 발생량과 경도 연화율이 가장 낮았다. 본 실험의 결과 Md-ACS1 및 Md-ACO1 대립유전자형과 사과의 에틸렌 발생량 및 경도 연화율은 상관성이 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서, Md-ACS1 및 Md-ACO1 분자표지를 사과 국내육성 품종의 저장성 예측과 육종 효율 향상을 위한 Markerassisted selection에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 생각 된다.

        Background : Platycodon grandiflorum root (PGR) was one of the primary herbs used in a phlegm-relieving herb from the past. Platycoside compounds on PGR may exhibit neuroprotective, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-allergy, improved insulin resistance, and cholesterol-lowering properties. In order to developing a concentrate product that improved the functionality and preference of PGR, it was fermented using lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus plantarum N76-10 and 56-12). Methods and Results : The concentrate products were created by PGR-concentrate (PGRC, 60 ºBrix) mixed with fermented PGR-extract (FPGRE, 2 ºBrix) at the level of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200%. Sweetness and preference were supplemented by other added materials including honey, oligosaccharide, concentrate of jujube (60 ºBrix) and pear (60 ºBrix), and cactus Chounnyouncho extract (2 ºBrix). The products were put into investigation for their preference of taste, antimicrobial activity in accordance with amount of FPGRE. When it comes to preference of taste, the most favor is adding 100% of FPGRE on PGRC. The product added 150% FPGRE exhibited a strong microbial anti-proliferation in all four kinds (Corynrbacterium diphtheriae, Klebsiella pnneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pyogenes) of bacteria inducing bronchus diseases and was higher antimicrobial activity than concentrate without FPGRE. In terms of the sensory evaluation (taste, texture and visco-elasticity), concentrate mixed with FPGRE (10), jujube concentrate (2), pear concentrate (10), cactus Chounnyouncho extract (10), oligosaccharide (2), honey (1) and xanthan gum (0.02) showed the highest scores. Conclusion : Thus, A PGR concentrate was made by adding FPGRE (100%) and it was increased organoleptic quality, antimicrobial activity. These studies may provide new product development for effective utilization on Platycodon grandiflorum root.

        Background : Platycodon grandiflorum root(PGR) was one of the primary herbs used in a phlegm-relieving herb from the past. Purified platycoside compounds from the roots of PGR may exhibit neuroprotective, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-allergy, improved insulin resistance, and cholesterol-lowering properties. To evaluate preference and functionality of PGR extracts, PGR was fermented by several lactic acid bacteria. Lactic acid bacteria used were Leuc. mesenteroides N12-4 and N58-5, L. plantarum N76-10 and 56-12, L. brevis N70-9 and E3-8. Methods and Results : This study was performed in order to investigate the changes of platycosides, as well as the antimicrobial activities on bronchus diseases inducing bacteria(C. diphtheriae, K. pnneumoniae, S. aureus, S. pyogenes) of Platycodon grandiflorum root(PGR) fermented by using lactic acid bacteria(Leuc. mesenteroides N12-4, Leuc. mesenteroides N58-5, L. plantarum N76-10, L. plantarum N56-12, L. brevis N70-9, L. brevis E3-8). Growth of L. plantarum on PGR was the most active during lactic acid fermentation by some different strains. Total platycoside, platycoside E, platycodin A, polygalacin D2, polygalacin D and diapioplatycoside E contents of PGR fermented for 96 hours at 37℃ by Leuc. mesenteroides and L. plantarum were increased, while platycodin D and platycodin D3 were decreased. The antimicribial activity on PGR fermented by L. plantarum N56-12 exhibited a strong microbial proliferation in all four kinds of bronchus diseases inducing bacteria and was higher than non-fermented PGR extract. Conclusion : Thus, this results showed antimicrobial activities on bronchus diseases inducing bacteria and platycosides content of PGR by L. plantarum N56-12 were higher than non-fermented PGR extract.

        The rice blast disease caused by Magnaporthe oryzae (M. oryzae) is one of the most serious diseases of cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.) in most rice-growing regions of the world. In order to investigate early responsible genes in rice in response to M. oryzae, we analyzed transcriptomics analysis using 300 K tilling microarray chip. The quality of RNA samples was initially validated by 4 defense related genes and phytoalexins measurement using RT-PCR and HPLC, respectively, which are well known defense markers. We determined that accumulation of 608 genes showed statistically significant changes in the level of transcription (>2 fold change, P<0.05). Among them, 261 genes were more up-regulated in incompatible interaction than that of compatible one. We further analyzed GO enrichment analysis of the 41 and 231 which were 2 fold up-regulated genes at 12h and 48h in incompatible interaction, respectively, using Rice Oligo nucleotide Array Database (http://ricearray.org). Furthermore, MapMan analysis (http://mapman.gabipd.org/) revealed that 21 and 85 genes including 18 receptor-like genes which were more induced in incompatible interaction compared to compatible interaction were found to be involved in biotic stress. Thus, this study suggests that early inducible genes including receptor-like protein kinases in incompatible interaction may play a key role in disease resistance against M. oryzae attacks.
