        Jeong-Won Won and Ik-Hwan Kim. 2001. A Study on the Improvement of English Writing Ability Using the Internet. Studies in Modern Grammar 23, 165-188. The Multli-User Dimensions Object-Oriented(MOO) is a synchronous interacting program unlike other asynchronous programs such as e-mail, mailing lists, or Usenet. This study is an attempt to suggest ways of improving students` writing ability by exploring the Schmooze University, on of MOO sites for ESL or EFL English learners. Schmooze University offers language learners opportunities to communicate with native speakers and other English learners from all over the world. Through this system they are able to exchange on online their ideas about each other`s culture, customs, and about learning a language. This authentic, task-based learning environment creates a more attention-attracting and interesting learning situation for those learners of the English language.

        We examined whether several reeds, which are found around Ulsan area, could be used for downflow reed-bed to remove pollutants of sewage. Three kinds of reed, such as Phagmites australis, Typha orientalls, and Phalaris aundinacea L., were collected from their habitats near the Taehwa River in Ulsan City. In the minimized model system of downflow reed-bed, P. australis appeared to reduce BOD more than others did but slightly increase total amount of nitrogen(N). When P. australis were placed in the sterilized water, total nitrogen was found to be significantly increased dependent on the number of experimental plant in the sterilized state, but it was rather decreased in the non-sterilized state. With these results, microorganisms attached to P.australis roots can be thought to work for removal of pollutants. Therefore, these microorganisms and their habitat, P. australis reed bed, together can be used for sewage treatment. It was suggested that oxygen is produced by photosynthesis reaction of P. austrails. The increased oxygen may help microorganisms in their habitats to work on the removal of pollutants

        우리나라 japonica형 품종을 배경으로 육성된 12개 웅성불임계통과 12개 임성회복계통들의 수량에 대한 조합능력을 조ㆍ중ㆍ만생군별로 검토하고 이들간 일대잡종들의 잡종강세정도와 미질특성을 검정한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 공시된 웅성불임계통 중 오대벼 A, 화성벼A, 이리 386벼, 낙동벼 A, 팔굉 A와 임성회복계통중 오대벼 R, 호성벼 R, 이리 386 R, 팔굉 R, 화청벼 R 등의 수량에 대한 조합능력이 우수하였다. 2. 웅성불임계통과 임성회복계통간의 일대잡종에서 수량에 대한 heterobeltiosis는 조생군에서 -17%~15%, 중생군에서 -4~22%, 만생군에서 -46%~30%였다. 3. 일대잡종에서 수량에 대한 standard heterosis는 조생군에서 표준품종 화진벼에 대해 0~26%, 만생군에서 표준품종 화정벼에 대해 -38~26%였다. 4. 잡종강세정도가 정인 조합군에서는 수당영화수, 수수 등이 수량과 상관이 높았고, 부인 조합군에서는 임실율, 천입중 등이 수량과 상관이 높았다. 5. 공시된 일대잡종벼의 amylose 함량은 대부분조합에서 20% 미만이었고, 알칼리붕괴도, 심복백, 투명도, 장폭비 미질 관련 형질도 양호하였다.

        The rapid progress of the intermodal freight transportation in recent years has induced fierce competition among the adjacent hub ports for container transport. This brings increased attention to the evaluation of the port competitive ability. But it is not easy to evaluate the port competitive ability because this belongs to ill-defined system which is composed of ambiguous interacting attributes. Paying attention to this point, this paper deals the competitive ability of container port in Far-East Asia by fuzzy integral evaluation which is adequate to interacting ambiguous attribute problem. For this, the proposed fuzzy evaluation algorithm is applied to the real problem, based on the factors such as cargo volumes, costs, services, infrastructure and geographical sites These are extracted from the precedent study of port competitive ability, etc. The results show that the port evaluation factors come in following order ; services, costs, infrastructure, geographical sites and cargo volumes. There are some interactions(interaction coefficient, λ=-0.664 between evaluation attributes. The port competitive ability comes in following order : Singapore, Hongkong, Kobe, Kaoshiung and Busan. According to the sensitivity analysis, the rank between Busan and Kaoshiung changes when λ=0.7. From the analysis of the results, we confirmed that the proposed fuzzy evaluation algorithm is very effective in the complex-fuzzy problem which is composed of hierarchical structure with interacting attributes.

        완두의 다수성 우량 품종 육성을 위한 유전적 기초정보를 얻고자 11개 주요 형질을 대상으로 특성이 다른 7개 품종을 이면교잡한 후 교배친과 F1 의 양적형질에 대한 조합능력 및 잡종강세를 추정한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 형질들의 잡종강세 정도는 주당립중이 78.9%로 가장 높았으며, 주당립수, 주당래수의 수량형질과 경장, 경직경 및 분지수 등의 형태적 형질에서는 각각 높은 heterosis를 보였다. 2. 조합능력을 검정한 바, 전 형질에서 유의한 GCA 및 SCA를 보여, 이들 형질은 상가적 효과와 비상가적 효과가 작용함을 알수 있었고, 일반조합능력의 분산량이 특정조합능력의 분산량보다 크게 나타났다. 3. 각 품종에 따라 GCA 효과를 볼 때 Alserman이 수량과 수량구성요소에서 높은 효과를 보여 다수성 품종육종의 모본으로서 유망한 품종으로 인정되었다. 5. 교배조합별 SCA 효과는 Sugar Ann Alderman, Wando Alderman, JI 1198 진주006의 조합들이 수량 및 수량구성요소에서 높았다.

        Recently, there is a tendency to design the large full ships with lower-powered engine as the means for energy saving in ship's navigation at seas. Such a lower-powered ship is anticipated to show the different propulsive performance in rough seas, because the fluctuation of main engine load of lower powered ship is relatively large as compared with higher-powered ship is relatively large as compared with higher-powered ship. The fluctuation of propeller load is nonlinear at racing condition in waves. It is due to the variation of inflow velocity into propeller, the propeller immersion and the characteristics of engine governor. In this paper, the theoretical calculation of the nominal speed loss and the numerical simulation for the nonlinear load fluctuation of a model ship in rough seas are carried out. From the results of calculation, the following are discussed. (1) The ratio of nominal speed loss to the speed in still water. (2) The manoeuvring ability of ship and the operational ability of main engine in a seaway. (3) A method of the evaluation for the fluctuation of propeller torque and revolution on the engine characteristics plane. (4) The effect of engine governor characteristics on the propeller load fluctuation.
